the time is nigh. it is 11:01 and i am in my kitchen table typing on this paper that is due by tomorrow. i have 12 references that am utilizing on this paper, which is on the history of psychology and psychiatry, emphasizing how social psychology takes into consideration the concepts within psychopathology. ive been working on this paper since i got home from work. drats! Ph.D program is no joke. meyn. am nearing 22 pages. yet i've only satisfied 4 out of the 6 criteria in the checklist.

My professor is also a slavedriver. She said to us the other day, "I will not accept 15 paged papers. As doctoral students, i expect papers to be 20 - 30 pages long."

Yataps pod ni sija uy.

Bah. I vent. So here me roar.

i'm quite interested in the development of organizational psychology. did you guys know that gordon allport influenced the development of what would be a subfield known as industrial & organizational psychology?

to think that all it took for this subfield to come about was war and the great depression.

This afternoon, I attended a conference meeting with other physicians to talk about the new drug testing methodology in the work place. We had a medical tech from some large laboratory in rosemont, illinois lecture to us about the specificity of urine tests as to saliva and hair sampling. hehe, learned some new policies going on for local hospital systems.

the med tech who lectured was cute. i stayed for the duration not to hear the information, but more so to watch her walk around the room explaining ph specificity of body liquid. truly, she wore a vibrant-looking pencil skirt that matched the spring season fashion. cute lady. i asked her to get lunch with me and we both went to starbucks to get coffee. cute baja.

Ah, its a Friday. And I get to rest and relax today after a VERY, VERY long and busy work week.

I'm planning to go kayaking tomorrrow at Lake Geneva in Wisconsin. The weather here in Chicago is AMAZING!

Early this morning (actually, nabuntagan gyud mi wala pa gyud mga tulog since last night kay nagbuntag mi ug tabi, katawa as if kami ray tao sa balay) my best of friends, bid goodbye to a friend who's leaving Norway tonight... I tried not to cry kay for sure mingawon ko ug taman niya.. I'm gonna miss his laughter, his jokes, his brilliant ideas, being broadminded, down-to-earth and the way he tells scary stories to another friend of mine (which actually makes my friend crazy upon hearing those scary stories) He gave me his favorite t-shirt (what i wore today) as sort of memento.. i'm gonna miss you buddy, for sure, ganahan na ka ug puyo diha sa Norway...

This weekend, I got to hang out with my friend Shawn. We got to try out a new sushi bar located in the Lincoln Square neighborhood of Chicago. I enjoyed our quality conversation and brotherly friendship. Its so good to make new friends here in this city. We were also accompanied by my friend Angela, who shared our love of sushi and warm japanese green tea. hehe!

nangita kog trabaho online. kanang home-based unta, puslan man nga milagro na lang kun mogawas ko. yet i'm wary of many online gimmicks...

funny we don't know what is in store without applying for the job first, and it means giving some personal details. so i chose a website that i felt fitted what i wanted to do. the pay per article is almost the same as cebu's dailies. it's just right; not too much, not too cheap either. (it cannot be compared with bohol's papers, which pay a trifle, if at all.)

what a shocker. the academic specialization and job experience requirements of that particular website would limit its contributors to the league of paul krugman! pffft went my ambition, hehe.

This week was productive and filled with positive developments. Am getting ready to read tomorrow for the 9;30 am mass in St. Mary of the Lake Roman Catholic Church. Am also considering going to another spiritual retreat to the Basilica at Holy Hill, Wisconsin. Probably I'll go sometime in May.

Today I opened my 401 k at Merril Lynch, a well known investment firm here in the United States. The financial adviser at the institution counseled me on the importance of "planning" for retirement daw. hehe.

A colleague of mine came with me to open his 401 k. He said to me, "Lorenzo, isn't it weird that we're only in our late 20's but we're already planning for our retirement?"

Ingon ko niya, "Not really, by the time we are in our 40's, hopefully, we will have a very solid footing..."

So I'm happy at the positive developments this year. Cheers to that.

Planning to go with my sister and some friends to Holy Hill in Wisconsin for a Catholic Retreat. Am filled with Grace and Happiness today, God is Good, truly!
