Day off today... tan-aw football unya sa Superdome. New Orleans Saints (6-0) vs. Atlanta (5-2). Kick off at 8:00PM.

November 2, 2009.

By Grace of The Almighty Lord, the day was productive, mind was on track, and body was able.

Today was a productive day, started early as we changed clinical instructions to Dr. Natalia, who is now teaching us Abdominal-Gastric Systems. The level of maturity she expects of us is quite intense, and quite humbling, as we are being instructed by a highly educated veteran OB-GYN who holds two Ph.Ds and one M.D. Today we did lower abdominal inspection, the different signs; palpations, percussion methodology, patient history taking, as well as medical etiquette. I exceedingly enjoyed her class and being able to interact with a live patient. A reprieve from the long medical lectures in power point or from the staged patients (usually played by one of my medical batchmates).

Our Medical Clinical Class started at 8.AM sharp, and ended at 10 AM sharp. I had a 10 minute break for coffee before beginning Systemic Pathology lecture, which was from 10:10am till 12 noon. Work mode.

Today, I had the chance to sit down and work non-stop and just read. Haven't had this quiet time in a while, just being able to read for 5 hours straight without any interruption.

Am at home right now, just enjoyed a nice home-made pinakbet w/ beans and finished it with pears.
Back to work. So far, that is what I did. I shall be up late tonight till 2-3 AM to do some more work.

Thus is a life of a 2nd year Medical Student.

Eastern Standard Time right now.

I just woke up from a 4 hour nap. Came back home at 6:30pm from work and was tired. Took a nap, back to work napood.

Today was a long day.

On a positive note, on November 14, 2009, we have our Medical Health Fair.
I was selected to be part of the Vitals Group. We are preparing to see about 1500 to 2000 patients that day.

1. Biked to school
2. Visited and talked to insurance groups
3. Attended Systemic Pathology lecture on Bone Disease (2 hours)
4. Attended lecture/ practical on Abdominal Inspection, Percussion, Auscultation, Palpation.
5. Worked in the library / medical lounge from 1pm till 6pm.
6. Took a 4 hour nap
7. Woke up. Started to read again. I need to finish 600 pages of reviews this weekend.
8. Right now, brewing colombian roast coffee.

I really am a late owl. lol.
