Hurricane Isaac's wrath is finally in our midst: blustry wind and rain, tidal surges, dusk to dawn curfew, power outage, tornado warning, etc. My cel is my only connection to the world. Waiting for daylight to come. Can't do much... Appreciate all your prayers for the people of New Orleans!

just fine, thanks lorenz. unlike you who's on an exciting time of life (creating a career, pursuing a degree), mine i can say is already made, and that's staying at home. it has its moments, but when i start feeling some bodily pain here and there, i simply tell myself that gone are the days when i can run more than a kilometer in high heels because there's trouble in the streets during a coup d'etat.

doing my reports as usual...busy...suddenly, bam!!! my computer shutdown without any reason (dili man pod blackout) only few docs were saved... karon nagsige na lang ug restart ang pc, way display... bisan unsaon nako ug restore, repair.. wa matabang... pahuway

isles, the beauty that i have learned from you-- and i've learned a lot from you from interacting with you these some 3 years -- is the inspiration i have gotten from your merciful nature to those who cannot help themselves. i can remember the times when i would sit back and read tb , some passage you would share with us on the kind of animals you saved in manila, your experiences with vaccinating your cats, and your dogs, adopting cats, dogs, helping that one homeless person in manila whose pet was named puppy. tell you the truth, i cried when i read your postings on how you were affected by the disappearance of that dog named puppy. sakitan pod ahoang dughan. its quite beautiful, isles, to know that in the end and in the greater scheme of things, how we help those around us and share and perform acts of mercies -- is what really counts. it is the epitome of the act of charity, to which we all are called to. for we are all told, "be perferct like your Father who is perfect.." (matthew 5:48).

you make me smile, isles. just to let you know.

ps. there is nothing special about what i do. i day dream at work ..and think about joining the priesthood. i admit that. that's our little secret here in tb. i have not told my parents this.

i'm sorry to hear that, jen. i empathize for you kai that had happened to me one time where i had 8 pages typed up. my computer decided to freeze on me and i had to reboot. then to find out that out of the 8 pages i wrote...yataps! only 2 were retrieved. hang on there, jen.

Busy gihapon aning mga reports, dokdok panagsa, I started a new day with fresh look (tingsi kutob sa naa'y moabot nga bisita) and ended up looking like a rotten fruit. Intawn, wa na'y time para retouch (dili man pod ko tig make up kaayo labaw ng dili ko ganahan anang taud taud magsige na lang pod ug retouch) Nothing new Bran, awWwww... naa diay.. Actually, few days ago, my exbf courted me again, begging for me to come back.. don't know kung tinuod ba ni iyang pagbag-o.. let's wait and see kung how long ni iyang sincerity..

jen, in regards to your xbf, just trust your heart when it comes to that...only you know what you feel. don't let a man take advantage of you. ingna siya ana. okay ra pod ko diri, jen, nag relax pod ko karon after a long 12 hour shift. oy, murang man og 14 hour shift kai wa pod ko ka gawas for lunch. excited ko kai we have labor day weekend , so naa pod koy 3 day weekend, jen.

whoah. as you say... follow your heart. as they say... many are cold, but few are frozen.

(just to make you laugh. a 12-hour shift that feels like 14 hours must be quite a burden on some shoulders, no matter how broad.)

it is now the wee hours of dawn of september 2 here. i'm helping edit the banana republic's office reports. funny i'm still learning how to go about the program being used for the reports when all i wanted was to check the syntax, grammar, or a missed or misused punctuation mark here and there. i switch to tubagbohol or walk around a bit to relax the legs when i get bored or tired.

it's time well spent, i guess, specially with this cat who bodily covers the keyboard when i leave the laptop for a while. so far, so good. she at least hasn't chewed any wire. she's a welcome diversion.

Today I thought of my Lolo Ciano, and my Lola Nating. I also thought of my Lola Babing. August 18 was the death anniversary of Lola Babing, who died 14 years ago in 1998. One month after the death of my beloved grandmother, si Lola Nating (the late Mrs. Fortunata Tan Salvo).

I thought of my Lola Nating and Lola Babing today. I'm going to attend morning mass tomorrow for them. I wish i could hug them again and to give my Lola Nating kisses like i used to do when i was younger...

I miss the mommy of my mommy.

yes they do, isles. being so far away from my parents and my younger brothers is quite hard. i close my eyes and find solace in the memory of my lola , who used to kiss all of us grandkids. how lola would bite my cheeks and kiss me everytime i would cry for my mother and father (both were abroad at the time). i miss her very much kai i loved her a lot, and never had the chance to tell her before she left this world, "i love you , lola."

i'm thinking of her today and my lola babing.

if it is in the mercy of jesus , someday, when i leave this world. i would love to be able to hug and kiss my lola again.

Its raining over here in Chicago, the effects of Hurricane Isaac has appeared in our midst , in the Windy City. I parked my Mitsubishi Montero at the parking lot 30 minutes ago and as I walked towards my apartment, was rained on. My dress pants, my dress shoes, my white coat was soaked totally. Truly unpredictable, this rain. Now I'm enjoying a nice warm cup of cocoa-- relaxing after a long 14 hour shift.

Ugma, trabaho napod. I'm also getting ready for my next doctoral class which will start on the 11th of September. The name of the course is " Contemporary Issues in Mental Health Care Compliance." It should be an interesting course.

have you considered specializing in tropical diseases (read: exotic) one day, or joining the ranks of cdc in atlanta? or the united nations health program? that would be great. not much money there, but to be anywhere around the world where epidemics are, where you are most needed... whew!

that's an interesting advice, isles. a very good one! to be honest with you , i am interested in infectious diseases. so, i'll keep that in mind when choosing a fellowship.

there's only one infectious diseases specialist and/or epidemiologist in the visayas. she's a lady doctor (i forgot her name, but she was my doctor some years back when i landed in a hospital one day after waking up and looking like miss piggy). when a cdc team from atlanta comes to the visayas and mindanao, she's the first person they coordinate with.
