At least you have a 2-peso load in your cellphone. This will only work with a prepaid SIM Smart Buddy. I don't know with postpaid.

Here's how to get free text from Smart:
1. Type REDEEM ALLTEXT50
2. Send it to 9800

Your free texts will be valid for 2 days. Repeat the same procedure to get another round of free SMS from Smart Philippines.

Veteran Dondon Hontiveros went on a shooting spree to lift Smart Gilas Pilipinas over powerhouse ASU Jordan, 76-74, Wednesday in the 22nd FIBA Asia Champions Cup at the Philsports Arena in Pasig.

Hontiveros, who’s fittingly celebrated his 34th birthday last night, knocked down 18 of his 23 points from downtown as the Nationals went on to claim the top spot in Group A with a 4-0 mark and will face Syria in the quarterfinals on Friday.

“They have good players, good import. But our players showed heart in this game,” said coach Rajko Toroman.
JV Casio made up for his poor playmaking in the first three quarters with clutch baskets in the waning seconds, including a floater that gave the Nationals a 70-66 cushion.

Marcio Lassiter iced the game with a pair of free-throws that set the final count.

Hontiveros converted a three-point play with under three minutes left that gave Smart Gilas the lead for good, 66-63.

Gilas went on an 8-1 run to open up the fourth period but Jordan, led by its towering import Jameel Watkins, quickly retaliated to regain the lead, 58-55.
The Nationals were visibly bothered by the imposing size advantage enjoyed by Jordan as the usually eye-pleasing ball movement of Smart Gilas went stagnant and tentative.

Naturalized Filipino Marcus Douthit was limited to 14 points due to early foul trouble.
Watkins led Jordan with 25 points while explosive guard Osama Daghles chipped in with 17.

Shaquille O'Neal, who struggled to get on the court for the Boston Celtics because of leg injuries, said on Twitter on Wednesday that he is going to retire after a 19-year career in which he won four NBA titles and the 2000 league Most Valuable Player award.

O'Neal sent a tweet shortly before 2:45 p.m. saying, "im retiring." It included a link to a 16-second video in which he says, "We did it; 19 years, baby. Thank you very much. That's why I'm telling you first: I'm about to retire. Love you. Talk to you soon."

An inveterate prankster who gave himself a new nickname - or several - in each of his six NBA cities, the 15-time All-Star did not notify his latest team of his plans. He played just 37 games this year, the first of a two-year deal at the veteran's minimum salary, making just three brief appearances after Feb. 1.

"To my knowledge, he has not informed any of us that he's retiring," Celtics spokesman Jeff Twiss said.

If he goes, O'Neal retires fifth all-time with 28,596 points, 12th with 13,099 rebounds and second only to Artis Gilmore among players with more than 2,000 baskets with a .582 field goal percentage.

O'Neal's contributions to basketball went far beyond his presence on the court.

One of the most charismatic players in NBA history, O'Neal was a franchise-saver when the Orlando Magic made him the No. 1 overall pick in the 1992 draft. He took them from the lottery to the playoffs in two years, and then led them to the NBA finals in his third year before they were swept by the Houston Rockets.

O'Neal, 39, signed with the Los Angeles Lakers in 1996 and had his greatest success there, winning three titles alongside Kobe Bryant and coach Phil Jackson. But amid tension between O'Neal and Bryant over credit for the team's success, O'Neal was traded to the Miami Heat in the summer of 2004, fresh off a loss to the Detroit Pistons in the finals.

After 3 1/2 years in Miami, a tenure that included his fourth NBA championship, O'Neal became a veteran-for-hire, moving to Phoenix and then Cleveland and finally Boston. But he couldn't deliver another title for Steve Nash and Amare Stoudemire with the Suns, with LeBron James with the Cavaliers or with the Celtics' Big Three of Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce and Ray Allen.

Coming back to the question "Do Small Businesses Need Customer Relationship Management (CRM) ?", the answer is definitively "Yes". Because, now more than ever, we must compete with the Big Companies. One of the strengths Small Businesses have compared to the bigger companies is the personal relationship we can (and have to) build with our customers. More and more customers expect to be treated in a personal way, in "real life" and online. Even if we send a big mailing (by normal mail or by e-mail), we have to make sure we address the recipient by their own name in the beginning of the letter instead of an impersonal "dear customer".

Basketball | NBA-PBA / Game 1 NBA Finals Results
June 01, 2011, 07:50:26 PM
LeBron James, Chris Bosh and Dwyane Wade paced the Miami attack as the big three combined for 65 points and the Heat beat Dallas 92-84 in the opening game of the 2011 NBA finals on Tuesday.

James finished with a team high 24 points, Wade had 22 points and 10 rebounds and Bosh scored 19 points for the Heat, who are a perfect 9-0 at home in the post-season.

After a low-scoring, tightly-contested first half in which the lead changed hands 10 times, the Heat’s star trio three blew the game open in the fourth quarter in front of the sold out crowd at the American Airlines Arena.

Game two is Thursday in Miami.

Combining Wade with James and Bosh as a triple threat in Miami is paying dividends in their first post-season together. But it also made villains of them in some people’s eyes, especially James who spurned his hometown Cleveland to join the Heat.

Wade had his typical slow playoff start but once again found his second gear late in the game.
He helped clinch the win by combining with James on an alley-oop with 30.6 seconds left that made it 91-79.

James made several plays in the second half that showed why he is the NBA’s most dominant player. He made a statement dunk with 2:48 to go that gave Miami an 84-75 lead. James also drained a buzzer beating three pointer at the end of the third quarter to give Miami a four-point lead, 65-61.

Business ideas
It is always a good idea to start with a list of things to do with a business. Start with hobbies or interests and add work experience to come up with possible business ideas. Once the correct idea is found analyze its feasibility as a means of making money. To do this, construct a business feasibility study.

Business Planning
Business Planning helps to detail all aspects of the business. From identifying the suppliers to determining product costs, from sales-pricing to establishing customer and competitor profiles, from defining marketing strategies to planning taxes, the feasibility study explains whether the business will be viable or not.

Wanting to get everything done is probably the main reason why so many people are short on time. They're trying to do too many things and fail to realize that there are only so many tasks that one person can accomplish in a day. Instead of focusing on getting everything done, focus on those things that really need to get done. Separating what's important from what's not important will help you prioritize your tasks. And once you've done this, just remember that priorities are in order. That means that when you're working on something with a high priority it is okay to turn down someone asking you to do something that has a lower priority.

Eleven families in Barangay Caidiocan in Valencia, Negros Oriental, who were affected by the naturally expanding geothermal steam vents, will receive financial aid from the local government of Valencia and the Energy Development Corporation (EDC).

Barangay Caidiocan is one of the host geothermal barangays in Valencia, home of the Palinpinon I and II geothermal power plants of the Energy Development Corporation-Green Core Geothermal, Inc.

Valencia Mayor Ricky Gonzalez said they have recently received a clearance from the Commission on Audit (COA) to release the funds for the beneficiaries.

Upgrading, rehabilitation and concreting of the road network in the first district of the two cities and seven municipalities in Negros Oriental, from Manjuyod to Canlaon City, will cost the government about P1.4 billion.

The projected cost would be more or less P200 million per year from 2011 to 2016, according to 1st district Rep. Jocelyn Limkaichong.

However, this will all depend on the availability of funds from the national coffers, considering that other provinces are also requesting for the concreting of their roads, she said.

On the other hand, the first district solon disclosed that a P710 million foreign funding is already in the pipeline for implementation next year in her district and that the program work is being prepared by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).

For this year, P200 million worth of infrastructure projects are bidded out, the construction of which will start in the second half of June. This includes the long overdue widening, slope protection, sea wall construction and concreting of the Himampangon road.

Limkaichong has also suggested to DWPH Secretary Rogelio Singson the possibility of putting up a bicycle lane along the highways to bolster tourism and promote a healthy lifestyle. (PNA)

The price of school supplies continues to remain stable throughout the Ilocos Region based on the regular monitoring of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) regional office.

DTI regional director Florante Leal said the DTI conducts monitoring once every two days and found that the price of school supplies remains the same despite the feverish buying spree now going on because of the approaching opening of classes on June 6.

He said parents need not worry because there is enough school supplies in the market and the DTI is continuously monitoring the prices of these commodities to prevent traders from taking advantage of the situation.

In fact, the price of school supplies went down in the Ilocos Region because of the special discount given by big department stores at the request of the DTI regional office, he said.

Leal revealed he made special arrangement with City Supermarket Incorporated, Magic, Robinson’s and Shoe Mart to grant special discount to parents and students buying school supplies from them and all these cooperated.

He thanked the owners of these establishment for their cooperation by offering special discount sales to parents and students doing their last-minute buying spree for school supplies.

Because of this, Leal believes that parents and students in the region are buying school supplies at lower prices than in other areas in the country today.

Leal also directed all DTI provincial offices to continue their regular monitoring on school supplies for the protection of parents and students doing their last-minute buying spree.

Two soldiers were wounded in a brief gunbattle Saturday between government security forces and communist-New People’s Army (NPA) rebels at Sitio Caningag, Barangay Cabasagan, Boston, Davao Oriental, military reported Monday.

Military report also said the gunbattle took place at 4:50 p.m.

“The troops belonging to the 67th Infantry Battalion were on patrol responding to the civilian complaints on the presence of armed bandits roaming around their place. However, upon arrival, they were fired upon by the bandits,” said Lt Col Lyndon Paniza, spokesman of the Army’s Southern Mindanao 10th Infantry (Agila) Division.

“These groups of NPAs are the same group responsible for murdering innocent civilians,” said Col. Paniza.

Lt. Col. Ruben Basiao, commanding officer of the 67th Infantry Battalion, said these armed bandits are also the ones roaming around the province of Davao Oriental, and some parts of Monkayo, Compostela Valley (ComVal) province, not only to harass the military and police camps but also to conduct extensively their extortion activities on small and big business companies, arson of road construction equipment and privately-owned trucks last 2009 and 2010.

“We will continue to seize these bandits who are keeping on their atrocities to destroy peace and development efforts in the area because the civilians do not want bandits and criminals in their communities,” said Col. Basiao.

The 30-minute exchange of fire on Saturday resulted to two soldiers slightly injured but were treated immediately by the troop’s first aiders.

The two are now confined at Camp Panacan Station Hospital here. (PNA)

TALISAY, Philippines â€" More than 800 tons of fish have died and rotted on fish farms in a lake near Taal volcano south of Manila, with authorities blaming it on a sudden temperature drop.

The massive fish deaths started late last week but have eased. Officials have banned the sale of the rotting fish, which are being buried by the truckload in Talisay and four other towns in Batangas province, Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources official Rose del Mundo said Sunday.

The deaths are unrelated to recent signs of restiveness in Taal volcano, which is surrounded by the lake where many villagers have grown milkfish and tilapia â€" staple food for many Filipinos, officials said. The volcano and lake are a popular tourist draw.

Talisay agricultural officer Zenaida Mendoza said an initial investigation showed the deaths may have been caused by the temperature change as the rainy season set in last week after a scorching summer, which also depleted the lake's oxygen levels.

Schools of fish were seen swimming in circles before they floated dead to the surface in huge numbers. The deaths have occurred in the past at summer's end but in much smaller numbers, Mendoza said.

Some Taal lake areas turned white due to the massive numbers of dead milk-colored fish. Workers covered their noses with their hands or clothing Sunday as they scooped up the rotting fish and placed them into sacks.

"Many were sad and devastated because they invested a lot in these fish cages," Talisay Mayor Zenaida Mendoza told The Associated Press by telephone.

More than 400 tons of milkfish have died in Talisay alone since Friday in 84 out of about 1,000 fish pens â€" lake areas about half the size of a basketball court which are fenced off by bamboo poles and nets. Damage has been estimated at $770,000 (33 million pesos), Mendoza said. About 400 tons more have died in the other towns.

Auto Loan Tip #1 Buy at the End of the Month
Frequently the marketing tactics of auto dealerships involve contests, with the winner receiving either a physical or monetary prize and some coverage in the local newspapers. Research indicates that these contests run for a month on average, by the end of which salesmen are desperate for a sale as buyers are waiting to see who wins, rather than purchase. Use this desperation for your own benefit, as the salesman will be more focussed on the sale than the margin it will earn him, and you will be able to drive the overall sale price down. The result of a lower sale price is a lesser amount financed, and this might enable you to negotiate better terms for your auto loan.

Cars and Automotive / How to Use Trailer Hitch
May 29, 2011, 09:12:10 AM
People use a trailer hitch typically to pull a trailer behind their vehicle. They may be pulling a moving van, camper, boat, bikes, motorcycles or much more. Whatever you have a need to be towing, you will need a hitch to help you with it. The hitch attaches to your car or truck and lets you attach the trailer to it.

When choosing a trailer hitch and accessories, you need to know a few things first. You need to know what you plan to tow and you also need to know your manufacturer's recommendation towing allowance. You need to be sure your vehicle is able to move the weight you are trying to pull and you need to be sure the hitch can handle the trailer weight. A boat trailer will need different equipment that a horse trailer, etc.

Top 7 Tips To Reducing Car Insurance Costs.

1. A major factor for any car insurance company in assessing the insurance premium you pay comes down to the type of car you drive. Different types of car attract different levels of premium because, in particular, different types of car are driven by different types of people, who may have different types of risk profile.

Sports cars, for example, will usually show a higher rate of accidents than staid boring family cars.

And there are always certain types of cars which attract thieves more than others, and this is reflected in the premiums you pay to insure them.

Your insurance company can tell you which types of cars are cheaper or more expensive to insure, so before you buy a car make some enquiries about whether that type of car is a high insurance premium car.

The auto industry has the technology to build fuel efficient cars, it has had much of this technology for decades, but it has not developed this technology into cost effective mass marketed vehicles. Why? Because the consumer has not demanded it. No matter what, the auto industry is and always will be consumer driven.

As long as the consumer continues to purchase what the industry is putting out, they will keep building what they are building. Granted, because of emission controls and higher mileage standards over the years we now have less harmful emissions and better mileage than we did twenty years ago. While this has been a great start we cannot let that become a stopping point.

It's important for you to find solutions to your needs but you want to make sure that the vehicle runs as well. Having them checked out before you make a purchase is very important. The problem is that the original calibration is engineered
for driver comfort rather than ultimate component strength.
The soft, sliding shifts that are part of the original
design are not appropriate for increased horsepower
applications, towing, off road use, racing, etc.

These calibration inadequacies quickly manifest themselves
as extremely poor shift quality, and more often than not,
severe damage to the gearbox is soon to follow. One of the
most common symptoms of this is the engine stuttering or
hitting the rev limiter during a full throttle upshift.

That means that you are may get a few problems along with your purchase. You can combat this, though, by getting to know a mechanic and making him your friend. In all seriousness, a good mechanic can see and hear most major problems with a car by just taking it for a test drive. If you plan to purchase several cars in this fashion, you should consider finding someone to call on whenever you need them. 1. Do Your Research
Before you head off to a car lot or peruse the paper, do some research. Start by determining the type of vehicle you want, and then narrow the field to a few models. Whether you're looking for a sports car or minivan, if you are educated going into the process, you'll be in a much better position. You'll know the kinds of questions to ask and you'll be able to negotiate smarter. Investigate the car's average fuel mileage, various features, upkeep, and average costs for repairs. Check reviews such as in Consumer Reports, talk with people who own the vehicle you're looking for, and call dealerships.

While a seller may be honest, it's possible that he or she is unaware of problems with the vehicle. Alternatively, it could be that the seller knows that repairs are needed and wants to sell the car rather than pay for repairs. Unfortunately, not everyone is honest, and the only way you can determine the true state of a car is to have it thoroughly inspected. A vehicle that looks great from the outside may have serious problems inside. A skilled, independent mechanic can give you an honest opinion about the state of the car.

People buying a new auto for the first time may not realize this, but the bank will require them to keep full coverage on their car for the length of the loan. Now, you can get away with only liability coverage when you don't finance a car - but things work a lot differently when the banks get involved, don't they? You might even think that there is some sort of conspiracy going on involving the banks and insurance companies. While it is a good theory, the truth is that banks need to be sure that they will get their money, so they require full coverage insurance on a new auto. After all, who would continue making payments if the car were all smashed up because of an accident?

We first need to understand that there is no direct link between the crankshaft and the transmission input shaft (except in the case of a lock up style converter, but we'll talk about that later). This means that the first function of the converter is to connect the crankshaft and the input shaft so the engine can move the vehicle; this is accomplished through the utilization of a fluidic coupling effect.

The torque converter also replaces the clutch that is required in a manual transmission; this is how an automatic transmission vehicle can come to a stop while still being in gear without stalling the engine. - read the continuation at http://www.writeups.pictyors.com/Article/Torque-Converter-Operation-Explained/6823

Hybrid cars vary both in terms of internal structure and external appearance. There are mild hybrid cars as well as full hybrid cars. Leading car manufacturers like Toyota, Honda, and Ford offer hybrid cars. Nissan has announced that its first hybrid car will be launched next year.

Both mild and fully hybrid cars utilize gas engine and electric motor. In mild hybrid cars, the electric motor plays the role of assistant to the gas engine, which propels the vehicle. In other words, the electric motor cannot function independently and only provides assistance to the gas engine when extra power is required. The motor has the capacity to obtain electricity from the battery and generate electricity for it. However, it cannot perform these tasks simultaneously.

We've seen them in pictures of European countries, with little French men in their flashy helmets, maneuvering the streets of Paris. And yet we still think, there's no way we could afford a scooter, Or can we?

If biking or walking hurts too much, then you should consider purchasing an electric motor scooter, which is a form of transportation rapidly growing in popularity. Electric scooters are affordable, low maintenance, and can get you where you need to go faster than a bicycle. It is important to note, however, that some large cities forbid the use of motor scooters that exceed 15 mph. Also, you must be willing to invest in a quality motor scooter or you will run into costly problems. Don't buy cheap. Investigate online or head to a local retailer to check out the scooters if you decide to purchase one.

The first type of radar gun available to police officers uses radio waves. This type of radar sends the radio wave to target and back. Since radio waves move at a constant speed the radar can determine how far the target is based on the time it takes the waves to return. When the target is moving there is a change in the frequency that is detected by the radar and changed into miles per hour. Sounds like a lot of work, especially if you think about how fast it does all this. By the time you see the police officer chances are he already knows how fast you are going and can pull you over.

Tip No. 1 - On a road with more than two lanes, drive in the middle lane. When you drive in the middle lane, nestled in the middle a bunch of speeding cars, you are less likely to be picked up by the radar detector and by the police officers. Instead, vehicles in front of or on the side of this speeding pack will more likely be caught for speeding. Driving in the middle lane also allows you to spot police officers easier than driving in the outside lanes

Buying cars whether if it is sparkling brand new or some used cars from car auctions is exciting. But no matter what sort of method you use; buying on the lot, through the car classifieds on newspapers or online, you will still have to keep your car in A1 condition to get the best out of it. Polluted and dirty engine oil, transmission fluid, and anti-freeze are going to cause problems for your car, and if you have not thought about changing your brake fluid, then perhaps, it is time. Brake fluid delivers force to various parts of the brake when you step on the pedal, you know it has to be topped up, but how often does it have to be changed?

Saysay pa ni Chubb, “Tuly came to us after the vets operated to save her life last year. She was mobile but very off balance and slow.
“She was rubbing away her shell because it was scraping along the ground when she walked. It was a problem that would have lead to more complications.”
