« on: June 01, 2011, 06:52:34 AM »
A police officer was gunned down by a still unidentified assailant in Barangay Taculing, Bacolod City.

PO1 Robert Espinosa, 25, of Puentevella Subdivision in Brgy. Taculing, expired while being treated at the Bacolod Adventist Medical Hospital.

A police report reaching here Tuesday morning revealed that the police officer was found by a tricycle driver sprawled beside the road near his service motorcycle in Dona Juliana Subdivision in the barangay following a gunshot heard at about 3:00 o’clock early Tuesday morning.

He was rushed to the hospital but the attending physicians failed to revive his life.

C/Insp. Placido Gentoleo, chief of police of Bacolod Police Station 6, said personal motive was the likely reason behind the killing of the police officer.

Based on their investigation, the slain police officer received a death threat three days prior the incident from the still unidentified suspect.

PO1 Espinosa entered the police service in 2009 and was assigned at the Regional Mobile Group deployed at the Bacolod Police Station 1. (PNA)
