LGU Philippines / Rising Covid Cases in the Philippines
October 14, 2020, 04:40:33 PM
IF SITUATION BECOMES VERY RISKY, LOCKDOWN IS POSSIBLE. “We need to exert extra effort to contain or stop the virus, otherwise, we will go to a lockdown which is very difficult to imagine,” Mayor Oscar Moreno today stressed as Region 10 has now surpassed Davao Region in terms of the total number of Covid-19 positive cases. BREAKING NEWS STATEMENT

PONDOHAN ANG DAPAT PONDOHAN, USAD AGAD MGA PROYEKTO SA 2021

2021 BUDGET MUST HAVE BUILT-IN MECHANISMS AGAINST DELAYS, CORRUPTION

It is crystal clear to us that the 2021 national budget must accomplish two major goals.

First, it must enable the country to fight COVID-19 by protecting our citizens, provide the health care needed, and get the most vulnerable vaccinated. On top of the COVID-19 funds in Bayanihan 1 and Bayanihan 2, the 2021 budget must anticipate COVID-19 necessities and other urgent public health needs.

Ano pa ang silbi niyan kung end of the year pa maging available pero first quarter of 2021 kailangan?

Second, it must be a potent economic stimulus package to restore jobs lost during the pandemic, reopen small and medium enterprises that shut down, and reverse the increases in poverty and hunger levels.

Consumer spending is down now.  Christmastime spending would probably be lower this year. OFW remittances would also be weak because of the tens of thousands migrant workers repatriated or came back home on their own. Among the worst hit are the farmers, fisherfolk, livestock raisers.

Given this economic scenario, government must intervene decisively with vigorous public spending.

ON SPENDING BAN

But there is another major problem we must also address now.

The Omnibus Election Code has a “prohibition against release, disbursement or expenditure of public funds.” We have elections scheduled on May 9, 2022.  The public funds spending ban takes effect 45 days before that election day. There are exceptions but these exceptions are restrictive or very limited.

My point is, given the current slowness of the government bureaucracy and its procurement process, the spending ban for the May 2022 elections is a real roadblock to government spending.

Either we remove the roadblock or we do our best to make sure that all the funds are released and disbursed and the projects are well underway in 2021 and absolutely not later than February 2022.

For this 2021 national budget, the procurement process must be given a strict timeline. Therefore the government procurement, spending, and execution timeline is from January to December 2021 and all projects must avoid the election spending ban.

Absorptive capacity of the government agencies must be high next year because if it is not, then the stimulus effect is diminished and the budget would fail to revive our economy when we need it most to happen. (END)

ADVISORY_October 13, 2020

Silliman University Administration today (October 13) received information that five (5) of its personnel were exposed to a COVID-19 positive patient. The said personnel were immediately isolated and contact tracing is now being undertaken.

Under the existing protocols, those who have 1st and 2nd generation exposures are advised to go on self-isolation. First (1st) generation exposure pertains to individuals who have direct exposure to a covid-19 positive patient, while 2nd generation exposure pertains to those who have been exposed to a 1st generation individual.

Because of this development, all face-to-face meetings on campus are to be deferred until further notice.

The University’s Covid-19 Crisis Management Group is currently addressing this matter in coordination with city and provincial health officials.

All university employees are reminded to observe all health protocols including the wearing of face mask/shield, observance of social distancing, and washing of hands always.

Bohol Latest News / Distance Learning Modules
October 14, 2020, 01:36:58 PM
Bohol Cong. Edgar Chatto scans through Distance Learning Modules during its distribution by teachers at Corella National High School last Friday.

Chatto filed House Resolution No. 1274 together with Negros Oriental First District Cong. Jocelyn Limkaichong strongly urging the House Committee on Appropriations to allocate an additional P20 Billion to fund the printing of self-learning modules to implement the Distance Learning Education of the Department of Education for School Year 2021 â€" 2022.

The implementation of Distance Learning ensures continuity of education amid closure of educational institutions as measure to contain the spread of the virus which impacted students, the resolution said.

In order for the implementation of the program, the Department of Education (DepEd) had estimated P40 Billion in funds needed for the printing of self-learning modules.

Under the current proposed budget, only P20 Billion has been earmarked for the undertaking.

According to DepEd, P5Billion will come from unprogrammed funds, P15 Billion from regular allocation and the rest will be sourced from the Special Education Fund (SEF) and Brigada Eskwela.

The SEF is generated from 1% of real property tax collected by local government units that supplement annual budget needed for the operation and maintenance of public schools in the province, city, or municipality. Meanwhile, Brigada Eskwela, is DepEd’s annual public-school repair volunteer program.

In a manifestation during the budget hearing for DepEd, Chatto asserted that the national budget must be the primary resource for the present modes of learning particularly in terms of printing materials.

He emphasized that reliability on the SEF and Brigada Eskwela for resources should be taken only as supplementary and not primary source of resources.

The resolution expressed that support coming from local government units and the private sector is not enough and at best, suppletory.

“By ensuring a budget that sustains the needs of the current educational setup which adopts to the new normal, teachers can focus on teaching and not on soliciting for the needed materials,” he explained.

Over 22 million public school students have begun classes as of October 5, which postponement in opening had been caused by delays in the printing of modules due to insufficient supplies and lack of budget for the purchase of bond papers and printing materials.

Inspiration & Hope / Don't Listen to Dream Stealers
October 14, 2020, 11:27:04 AM
Reposted from FB: Frogs held a wall climbing contest. The wall was so high spectators shouted it’s impossible for a frog to reach the top. One by one the frogs fell due to exhaustion, except for one tiny frog who kept climbing. Spectators told him to give up but he didn’t and eventually reached the top. They wanted to know how he did it and found out that he was deaf! Lesson: Don’t listen to dream stealers. Go for yours.

Astro Malaysia Holdings Berhad (“Astro”) is Malaysia’s leading content and consumer company, serving 5.7 million or 75% of Malaysian households across its TV, radio, digital and commerce platforms.

In 2019, Astro identified a need for change within the business and embarked on its "Go Beyond" programme to focus on customer centricity, putting the customer at the heart of everything.

Astro was experiencing heightened competition in the market, degrading brand perception as well as low levels of internal collaboration and reduced employee morale. All this was having an impact on customer satisfaction and customer churn.

The team identified three core behaviours which they believed would drive a change in the business - inclusivity, accountability and creativity - and set about putting them at the centre of everything they do.

As a result, the latest employee survey showed an increase in Customer Focus from 51% to 66% and Collaboration from 58 to 68%. Overall Employee Engagement has risen from 71% to 74%.

Join us as Archana Ramesh, Head of People Science, APAC, Glint discusses Astro's journey with Gavin Baxter, Director People & Workplace, Astro. Hear more about how they defined the key drivers for change, built communication and collaboration within the organisation and translated that into an improved customer experience.

Rice farmers in Upi, Maguindanao and elsewhere in central Mindanao are ranting on the continuing downslide in price of palay, now being procured at only P13 per kilo by traders buying dried grains in bulk, more than 50 percent lower than procurement prices in years past. They blame the massive importation from abroad of rice, as permitted by the Rice Tariffication Law, for their losses. (JOHN UNSON, October 13, 2020)

Anonymous Diary Blog / A State of Envy
October 13, 2020, 07:21:16 AM
By Donald Borja Sevilla
A STATE OF ENVY

We become miserable when we are always in a state of restlessness brought about by dissatisfaction to just about anything. When we never get satisfied we always find reason to complain and happiness eludes us.

Miserable people are always unhappy and as such often struggle with long bouts of depression. This is catastrophic and disastrous and sometimes has deadly consequences.

Despite leading comfortable and affluent lives, many rich people end up committing suicide. Those who cannot seem to find fulfillment in their lives end up lost and without meaning.

While we all have our share of the doldrums, we must always find a way to get rid of our blues and move on.There is more to life than a bad day and a list of unfulfilled wants.

Different people have different ways of coping with their depressed state. Many find music soothing and uplifting while others enjoy travelling and shopping. But when your therapy is hinged purely on things material and temporal, when the initial feeling of  high settles down, it brings you back once more to where you started.

Therefore to completely get rid of the rut and climb out of your hole it is important that we establish a threshold of satisfaction. We need to find joy in the simple things of life.We must never forget to appreciate the birds, the bees and the flowers and the beauty of God's wondrous creations.

While man has his own hierarchy of needs,we must never let them enslave us.We must learn not to be tied down by our material possessions and find contentment with what we have.

When we always compare ourselves to others and what they have that we dont ,it breeds jealousy that leads to contempt and misery. And when we have these in our hearts we can never be happy.

Being unhappy is a matter of choice. So when we find ourselves in a downward spiral we must look up and count our blessings. You'd be surprised how  lucky and blessed we are.Hence, we must not allow ourselves to wallow in a state of envy.

Congressman Velasco came to Davao City to personally meet me and discuss Hugpong Ng Pagbabago.

He intimated that there will be a Speakership vote and he sought for my help, as the Chairperson of HNP, with regard to the votes of the three HNP Congressmen from Davao Region.

I told him that HNP was created to propel unity and development in Davao Region and assist the administration of President Duterte.

I also emphasized that HNP will respect the term-sharing agreement as ordered by the President last year and reiterated that the party fully supports Presidential Proclamation 1027.

Thank you.

FEATURED STORY
By Davao del Norte PIO

Love Knows Neither Limits nor Boundaries

When love begins most unexpectedly:  PSSg Noriel Cabiles, 37 years old is deployed as R-PSB personnel at Sitio Kapatagan, Brgy. Gupitan, Kapalong, Davao del Norte last May 6, 2020. He is dedicated and has pledged to serve and protect the community. But Cupid has his way of colliding two people from two different worlds.

Sitio Kapatagan is a home of more or less 350 Ata-Manobos. Of the 350 members of the Ata-Manobo Tribe, a 22-year-old fine lady captured the heart of PSSg Cabiles. She’s a pure-blooded Ata-Manobo who is already in her 2nd-year college at Kapalong College of Agriculture and Science and Technology. Persistent to take the hands of Rodylyn Liban, PSSg Cabiles first courted the parents of Rodylyn. With his tenacious effort, Rodylyn accepted our police officer and welcomed him to the tribe.  Love blooms and this coming October 17, 2020, the two will tie their knot at Manobo Baptist Community Church, Sitio Kapatagan, Brgy. Gupitan, Kapalong, Davao del Norte.

A wedding of the year despite differences in their beliefs and tradition, love works its way of uniting disparities.  A proof that Ata-Manobo Tribe in Brgy. Gupitan started to trust others outside their realm and welcome them as part of their civilization.  Indeed, love conquers all...

Reposted from Facebook:

I asked one of my friends who has crossed 70 and is heading to 80 what sort of changes he is feeling in himself?
He sent me the following very interesting lines, which I would like to share with you ....

#1  After loving my parents, my siblings, my spouse, my children, my friends, now I have started loving myself.

#2  I just realized that I am not “Atlas”. The world does not rest on my shoulders.

#3  I now stopped bargaining with vegetables and fruits vendors. A few pennies more is not going to burn a hole in my pocket but it might help the poor fellow save for his daughter’s school fees.

#4  I pay my waitress a big tip. The extra money might bring a smile to her face. She is toiling much harder for a living than me

#5  I stopped telling the elderly that they've already narrated that story many times. The story makes them walked down the memory lane and relived the past.

#6  I have learned not to correct people even when I know they are wrong. The onus of making everyone perfect is not on me. Peace is more precious than perfection.

#7  I give compliments freely and generously. Compliments are a mood enhancer not only for the recipient, but also for me. And a small tip for the recipient of a compliment, never, NEVER turn it down, just say "Thank You."

#8  I have learned not to bother about a crease or a spot on my shirt. Personality speaks louder than appearances.

#9  I walk away from people who don't value me.  They might not know my worth, but I do.

#10  I remain cool when someone plays dirty to outrun me in the rat race. I am not a rat and neither am I in any race.

#11  I am learning not to be  embarrassed by my emotions. It's my emotions that make me human.

#12  I have learned that it's better to drop the ego than to break a relationship. My ego will keep me aloof, whereas with relationships I will never be alone.

#13  I have learned to live each as if it's the last. After all, it might be the last.

#14  I am doing what makes me happy. I am responsible for my happiness, and I owe it to myself. Happiness is a choice. You can be happy at any time, just choose to be.

I decided to send this to all my friends. Why do we have to wait to be 60 or 70 or 80, why can't we practice this at any stage and age.....

I am just sharing this, I don't know who to credit it to, but thank you!

English Dictionary / Meaning of bed and board
October 12, 2020, 06:28:48 AM
bed and board
Noun

bed and board (uncountable)
1. A place to sleep and eat; bed and breakfast; the services provided by an inn or similar establishment.
- 1843, Thomas Carlyle, Past and Present, book 2, ch. 4, Abbot Hugo
For, alas, the Ideal always has to grow in the Real, and to seek out its bed and board there, often in a very sorry way. No beautifullest Poet is a Bird-of-Paradise, living on perfumes; sleeping in the aether with outspread wings. The Heroic, independent of bed and board, is found in Drury Lane Theatre only

2. Full connubial relations.

ON PRESIDENT DUTERTE’s CALL FOR A SPECIAL SESSION

PARTY-LIST SOLON CALLS FOR FULL ACCESS TO THE BATASAN COMPLEX AND PRESENCE OF ALL HOUSE MEMBERS AT PLENARY HALL

It is within the rights of the duly-elected Representatives of the Filipino people to have full and unobstructed access to the Batasan Complex and to be physically present at the Batasan plenary hall for the resumption of the unconstitutionally suspended Second Regular Session of the 18th Congress.

Every House Member should be able to enter the Batasang Pambansa Complex, the House of the People, without the need to ask for permission from anyone.

The 25-Member capacity limit in the session hall should already be lifted to allow House Members to physically attend session.

All Members of the House of Representatives can be physically and safely present at the plenary hall with proper social distancing up to the gallery seats. (END)

Bohol Latest News / Bohol Curfew Abolished
October 11, 2020, 05:13:50 PM
From Gov. Art Yap
On Bohol Curfew.....

“The times are different today from months ago when we ordered the lockdown of BOHOL.  We have established that: Wearing masks, washing hands and keeping distance are what prevents Covid 19 from breaking out in society.  As long as people are disciplined enough to follow these simple rules, we can prevent a Covid outbreak in Bohol.  We have also shown the capacity to manage Covid 19 cases enough, so that we have favorably considered the slow re-opening of tourism in Panglao soon after due notice to our constituents and stakeholders.  I am therefore asking the Sangguniang Panlalawigan, to lift the imposition of curfew hours  and leaving the matter to the sound discretion and judgment of our Local Chief Executives, who know the situation in their towns best, pursuant as well, to the provisions of the Local Government Code.”

Philippine Archive / EAST ASEAN Growth Area (EAGA)
October 10, 2020, 08:33:00 PM
Quezon City (1 December 2005) -- Participating for the first time as one region in an international trade fair, the EAST ASEAN Growth Area (EAGA) has made its mark as it highlights tourism as a major vehicle to economic growth during the China-ASEAN Expo(CAEXPO) held in Nanning,China recently.

The EAGA, which is composed of countries Brunei Darussalam, Indonesia, Malaysia and the Philippines (BIMP), featured during the four-day fair the region's diverse but united culture, its many exciting adventures and natural attractions.

Conceptualized in 1994, the BIMP-EAGA was intended to boost trade, tourism, and investment within the region. It comprises the areas of Mindanao and Palawan in the Philippines; the entire sultanate of Brunei Darussalam; 10 provinces in the Indonesian islands of Kalamantan, Sulawesi, Maluku, and the Irian Jaya; and Sabah, Sarawak, and Labuan in Malaysia.

To assure the smooth movement of tourists within the area, EAGA's recent undertakings involve increasing the flight frequencies to and from the different destinations within the region. Currently, South Phoenix caters to passengers flying the Zamboanga-Sandakan route and vice-versa. By sea, M.V. Wissam Express and Alesson navigate the same route. Merpati carrier, carrier on the other hand, services the Davao-Sandakan-Davao route.

The CAEXPO is an annual event held since 2004 and was conceptualized in the goal of providing business communities not just from Asia but all over the world, a tremendous avenue for regional economic and trade collaboration. It aims to promote the building of China-ASEAN Free Trade Area which is envisioned to yield mutual benefits and shared success among its members. (Beat The Odds Infobits)

Quezon City (1 December 2005) -- Merchandise import payments in September increased by 7.8 percent to $4.1 billion as purchases of all major groups except raw materials and intermediate goods increased, according to National Economic Development Authority.

Socioeconomic Planning Secretary Augusto Santos said capital imports surged by 10.5 percent in September. Capital build-up was specifically recorded in aircraft, ships and boats (527.5%), power generating and specialized machines (26.1%) and telecommunication equipment and electrical machinery (9.2%).

The NEDA Chief also said that demand for consumer goods remained upbeat, rising 9.1 percent compared with the same period last year. He noted that inward shipments of fish and fish preparations (163.2%), importation of rice (63.3%), and passenger cars and motorized cycles (44.9%) cushioned the decline in dairy products (-36.9%) and other food and live animals (-6.4%).

Raw materials and intermediate goods were the only group that declined by 12.9 percent. Materials and accessories for the manufacture of electronic equipment declined by 32.2 per cent, compensating for the rise in imports of manufactured goods.

The United States remains the country's primary source of imports in September comprising 18.2 percent of the market followed by Japan and Singapore with 15.1 and 8.2 percent respectively. (Beat The Odds Infobits)

BSP UNVEILS DIGITAL PAYMENTS TRANSFORMATION ROADMAP

The Monetary Board approved the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) Digital Payments Transformation Roadmap 2020-2023. The roadmap charts the BSP’s current initiatives and strategy in advancing an efficient, inclusive, safe and secure digital payments ecosystem.

This shall support the achievement of the BSP’s mandates and meet the diverse needs and capabilities of individuals and firms. The roadmap identifies two key strategic objectives.

First, is the strengthening of customer preference for digital payments by converting 50% of the total volume of retail payments into digital form and expanding the number of the financially included to 70% of Filipino adults by onboarding them to the formal financial system through the use of payment or transaction accounts.

The second is the availability of more innovative digital financial products and services designed to be responsive to the needs of consumers, enabled by a digital ID (Philippine Identification System or PhilSys), and supported by the availability of a next generation payment and settlement system to facilitate real-time processing of financial transactions.

Said objectives are strategically anchored on three critical pillars, which are envisaged to successfully transform the cash-heavy Philippine economy into a cash-lite economy.

The first is the development of digital payment streams (use cases) which will accelerate wider acceptance and use among individuals, businesses and the government.

The second is the establishment of the necessary digital finance infrastructure to facilitate interoperability in the digital payments ecosystem, allowing providers to offer a wider array of affordable products and services.

The third is the implementation of digital governance standards that will safeguard the integrity and privacy of consumer data, and ensure appropriate governance and regulation of digital products and services.

The roadmap also recognized the broader challenges to the development of a digital payment ecosystem and financial inclusion, key among which is the state of access to and quality of internet connectivity. This challenge may be addressed by exploring the use of satellite communications technology in delivering internet connectivity to hard-to-reach rural places.

“Our thrust to promote digitalization of payments is also strategically geared towards furthering financial inclusion as we view the two to be mutually reinforcing: They go hand in hand, with each one enabling the other,” according to Dr. Benjamin E. Diokno, Chairman of the Monetary Board and Governor of the BSP.

“With the launch of the Digital Payments Transformation Roadmap, we aim to hit two birds with one stone. We are securing the digitalization of payments, and increasing the number of Filipinos with access to financial services,” the Governor adds.

The momentum for pursuing digital payments has also been catalyzed by the recent lockdowns brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Comparing data from 01 to 16 March 2020 and during the ECQ from 17 March to 31 May 2020, a significant decline in the volume and value of check payments and automated teller machine withdrawals was observed, suggesting that consumers are wary of the risk of exposure brought about by face-to-face transactions in the bank.

Meanwhile, PESONet and InstaPay transactions remarkably increased by 74%, from 18.4 million prior to the COVID-19 lockdown (01 January to 16 March 2020) to 32.1 million during the enhanced community quarantine (17 March to 31 May 2020). At the same time, the 2019 Financial Inclusion Survey shows a notable increase in the number of e-money account owners from 1.3% of the adult population in 2017, to 8% in 2019.

E-money providers have also reported record-high increases in their number of transactions and account users during the quarantine period, while latest data on the volume of transactions using PESONet and InstaPay manifest a sustained shift to digital payments demonstrating a substantial growth of 122% from 23 million to 51.2 million from the first to the second quarter of 2020.

These developments indicate that there is a growing consumer sentiment to shift towards more digital payments. The BSP’s Digital Payments Transformation Roadmap supports this remarkable development by providing our key stakeholders, such as banks, financial and payment service providers, fintech service players, and consumers with a helpful strategic guide in navigating the country’s whole of nation approach towards a digital payments-enabled economy.

Philippine Archive / Maasin City Police Station
October 10, 2020, 10:26:16 AM
By Bong Pedalino

MAASIN CITY (1 December 2005) -- A new Police Station building will soon be added to the growing structures changing the landscape of this city.

No less than the new Police Regional Director, Chief Supt. Eliseo De La Paz, revealed in an ambush interview during a surprise visit here recently that construction of the new Police office shall begin anytime this month, December.

The first amount intended for the project had, in fact, been already released, De La Paz added.

Newly-installed City Chief of Police, Supt. Pepito Generan filled in some details where his Regional Boss failed to mention.

In a radio program "Aksyon, Solusyon, Inisyatibo" over DYDM on Thursday, December 1, Generan said the new building will be a two-story structure located in a 240 square meter lot beside the Fire Department and the new Integrated Terminal building at the reclamation area.

The amount of P1 million had been readied to start the construction work for the project, Generan said, adding that the entire appropriation could be anything between P 5 Million to P 7 Million.

In June this year Chief PNP Director-General Arturo Lomibao toured the province and announced that three Police Stations -- Maasin, Padre Burgos, and Libagon -- stand to get allocations for a separate building.

Generan hinted at similar developments with Padre Burgos and Libagon Police Stations.

Maasin Police Station has been housed in the ground floor of the old municipal building ever since the historic past and desperately needed a new face lift now that the town has been changed into a city. (PIA-Southern Leyte)

Philippine Archive / Hello Garci Scandal
October 10, 2020, 10:21:37 AM
By Bong Pedalino

Tacloban City (1 December 2005) -- The dishonored former Commission on Elections (Comelec) Commissioner of "Hello, Garci" fame was back in the news, reportedly to re-claim his honor. Then, so what? The Filipino is tired of all the noise caused by the Garci wiretap tale.

It may be a blessing in disguise that his re-appearance in public view coincided with the conduct of the 23rd Southeast Asian Games. The Pinoy viewers, it turned out, watched the games rather than listen to the pronouncements of our honorable politicians who smelled blood with Garci lurking around.

That Team Philippines continued to haul gold daily and showed their finest best in the games was a clear indication that Garci's resurrection has not spoiled our athletes' quest for glory.

Our Politikos should read the writings on the wall: Garci is no longer a crowd-drawing magnet he used to be.

Southern Leyte

In Southern Leyte province, for example, the people are more concerned on businessmen asking 10% more on the price of goods bought if an official receipt (OR) is demanded supposedly because of the expanded value-added tax (EVAT). It was obvious consumers cannot care less about Garci, but to pay something more so an OR can be issued is much more valuable.

Let me get this straight before I dwell on the EVAT. With Garci's coming out in the open we do hope the political turmoil that started six months ago can be put to a stop, finally. I do hope Garci can enlighten the legislators, and the public at large, which has suspended judgment until all the cards are laid down, faces up.

The sooner we say, in the end, "The Garci saga, bow" (complete with drums rolling, trumpets in rising-falling crescendo in the background as the curtains fall), the better for the country -- and for our improving economy.

On EVAT

Now, back to the EVAT. Noemi Abiera Pizon, the Revenue District Officer in Southern Leyte province, clarified that the tag price of the goods already contained the tax. So it is not right for businessmen to charge 10% more to the unit price of goods if customers insist to have an official receipt, she said. Repeat, it is not RIGHT, in bold, capital letters.

Having said that, Pizon warned that businessmen who continue the wayward practice are guilty of OVERPRICING. (Again, in bold, capital letters for emphasis.) And the penalty for this one, mind you, is no less than P 10,000.00 as a start.

Official receipts

Asking an OR every time you buy something or pay for a service rendered is not just a matter of privilege. It is a basic right of customers. The OR is a material proof if ever an item is returned due to factory defect. The OR is a document to support a consumer's complaint, like being shortchanged. And the OR is a sure sign that the EVAT can be collected by the government.

M.O.T.I.V.A.T.E. SERIES, takeaway from our DGROUP about INTIMACY:

JESUS WAS INTENTIONAL IN BUILDING RELATIONSHIPS.
While Jesus already had disciples, he ate and had fellowship with sinners (Luke 5:29-30, 15:1-2). He came to seek and save the lost (Luke 19:10). The bible clearly says that we are all sinners (Romans 3:23) and Jesus (GOD) came (initiated) to restore that broken intimate relationship we lost with God because of our sin. Jesus restored our relationship by paying for the demand of God for sin, which was death on the cross through a perfect (SINLESS) sacrifice.

We learned that we should be intentional in building relationships, new and old, to introduce and tell them about Jesus (who He is and what He has done for all of us).

Join a club, make new friends, call old friends, reconnect with classmates, offer your services, be an encouragement, be a listening ear are examples of being intentional in building new and old relationships.

GOD DID NOT JUST OFFER A RELATIONSHIP BUT INTIMACY.
Jesus did not just live a perfect life, He was tortured and crucified. And He did it for you and me.
He did all that so that we would be reconciled back to the father and restore that intimate relationship with Him. Jesus did not just die on our behalf and saved us from our sins. He died and saved us so we would enjoy Him forever.

Now, we are not just created beings but sons and daughters called by name and welcomed to His family. He invites us to dine with Him in his table. He walks with us, cares and provides for us. He reveals his will, plans and purposes. And most of all, God makes himself known to us. He is personal, loving, patient and gentle. He is not just some distant being, but He is our loving father who cares and only wants what’s best for us.

To grow in intimacy with God, we must increase our understanding of who He is in the Bible. We may not fully know God but we can truly know Him. Read the Bible and God will open your eyes to see and taste who He truly is.

For toxic, damaged or broken relationships, we can start the process of restoring intimacy by asking 3 simple questions that is humbling and confronts the hard truths and blind spots in our lives.
1. How can I Improve?
2. How have I hurt or disappointed you?
3. Will you please forgive me?

We  can start restoring intimacy by asking your wife, children, parents, siblings, friends or people close to you. And we will be surprised what they see in us or what we have done (consciously or unconsciously).

We don’t see anything special about the 3 questions, but there is something supernatural that happens “before” and “after”, that only God can do in our lives. I say “before” because you have humbled yourself not just before men but before God acknowledging our sin and recognizing our great need for God to continually change us and “after” because of the relationship that was restored, reconciled and to start build or rebuild that intimacy in the relationship. Only through the power of God can all this be done.

God can and will use us to make Jesus Christ known and build intimate relationships with your spouse, parents, brother, sister, friends and workmates.

#motivate #intimacy

SLD Laser, a world leader in commercialization of visible laser light sources, has been named one of the 2020 Best Workplaces in Manufacturing & Production by Great Place to Work and FORTUNE. SLD was honored with the #7 spot on the list of Best Small and Medium Workplaces in Manufacturing and Production. This ranking considered feedback representing over 160,000 employees working at Great Place to Work-Certified organizations in the manufacturing and production industry. Great Place to Work, a global people analytics and consulting firm, evaluated more than 60 elements of team members’ experience on the job. These included the extent to which employees trust leaders, the respect with which people are treated, the fairness of workplace decisions, and how much camaraderie there is among the team. Rankings are based on employees’ feedback and reward companies who best include all employees, no matter who they are or what they do for the organization.

“SLD Laser is a great place to work because employees’ concerns are heard and listened to. Our team members act and engage to make SLD a better place,” commented Stephen Himphayvanh, Senior Manufacturing Technician. Additionally, Dr. James Raring, SLD Laser President, COO, and Cofounder stated, “SLD is proud to be recognized for creating one of the best workplaces in the manufacturing and production industry.”

SLD launched its automotive certified LaserLightTM illumination products last year and is now ramping production with products deployed into headlights on the road globally. SLD’s white light sources are more than 10 times brighter than LEDs, enabling safe stopping distance with precise illumination patterns and minimum glare, while meeting stringent safety regulations of UL and IEC. Additionally, LaserLight modules are 1/3 the size of LED sources, saving critical space in the car, and providing unmatched design freedom for ultra-thin styling possibilities. SLD is also commercializing bright and efficient fiber light sources with 10 times the brightness of LED fiber solutions, delivering brilliant illumination from thin, low cost plug-and-play fiber optics.

SLD’s LaserLight products won the prestigious Technical Innovation Award at the 2019 LightFair International Conference, for the world’s first UL certified 1-kilometer range MicroSpot modules for portable lighting, flashlights and drones in security, police, fire, emergency, rescue, and outdoor recreation. These sources are the engine for the world’s first chip-based 40,000 lumen LaserLight spotlights, replacing legacy spotlight technology based on Xenon HID bulbs. LaserLight spotlights can deliver 10 km range, are lightweight and portable, and are ideal for entertainment & architecture, avionics and search & rescue, ports & marine lighting, as well as outdoor pole lights and stadiums.

For applications Beyond LightingTM, SLD announced earlier this year its dual emission white and infrared sources, enabling high-resolution ranging and sensing with 1% ranging accuracy. The sources provide a breakthrough solution for applications such as ADAS sensing, rangefinding, and depth sensing, replacing radar modules and enabling dramatically simplified 3D imaging and LiDAR systems. The technology can meet the sensing needs of existing cars, as well as future mobility applications including autonomous vehicles, drones, and avionics.

In addition to sensing, SLD has developed ultra-high speed LaserLight LiFi communication technology that delivers data rates of over 20 Gigabit per second, twenty times faster than 5G data transfer. The white and infrared dual emission light sources can be collimated for long range mobility applications or configured for floodlight broadcast to address large areas. The sources deliver a unique combination of ultra-high data rate and long-range broadcast to address the intense data transfer needs of emerging mobility applications such as smart cars & smart cities, and 10G fixed installations for offices, homes, healthcare facilities, and factories. SLD’s LiFi leverages the unconstrained visible light spectrum to overcome challenges of RF and Wi-Fi, while delivering data securely compared with incumbent technology.

About SLD Laser

SLD Laser is commercializing a new generation of visible laser light sources for automotive, mobility, specialty lighting, and consumer applications. The company is ISO 9001 certified and automotive compliant to IATF 16949, and operates facilities in Santa Barbara, CA and in Fremont, CA. SLD Laser’s high luminance LaserLight sources are UL and IEC safety certified, and are utilized in a myriad of applications including automotive & mobility, specialty & portable lighting, entertainment & outdoor, projection & AR/VR displays, biomedical instrumentation & therapeutics, and industrial imaging & material processing. SLD Laser was founded in 2013 by several leading global pioneers in solid-state lighting, including Dr. Shuji Nakamura, 2014 Nobel Laureate in Physics, Dr. Steve Denbaars, Dr. James Raring, and Dr. Paul Rudy. Businesswire.com - Non-profit Leaders for Clean Air (LFCA) ambitiously embraced its mission at the outset of 2020 by setting a goal to distribute 435 electric vehicle (EV) charging stations this year. LFCA today announced the goal was met and achieved four months early. LFCA works in partnership with Rocky Mountain Power to improve air quality by encouraging electric vehicle adoption along the Wasatch Front. The two organizations agreed to the aggressive target of more than one charger a day pre-pandemic.

When Utah reacted to COVID-19 with lockdown measures, the small non-profit's survival was precarious since LFCA deals mostly with workplace charging. However, the charger quota already attained during the pandemic makes it clear that Wasatch Front businesses favorably view EV technology.

"By already reaching our goal, the market shift toward EVs certainly feels real," said Kate Steinicke, Leaders for Clean Air's Director of Development. "Utah's business owners are leading this change and serving as an example to other markets."

LFCA contributes a great deal of its success this year to partnerships, specifically with Rocky Mountain Power and Utah Clean Air Partnership (UCAIR).

"In our efforts to clear the air, there are no perfect answers, but there are practical solutions," said Executive Director of UCAIR Thom Carter. "LFCA shows that an electric vehicle becomes a practical solution when a business provides a charging infrastructure for its employees. LFCA works to empower area businesses, and we are grateful for their hard work. They truly know how to move the needle on this important issue."

What's next? Leaders for Clean Air will continue its 2020 EV charging program and set a higher goal for 2021. For more information about Leaders for Clean Air and LFCA's partnership with Rocky Mountain Power, visit www.leadersforcleanair.org.

Press Release Philippines / From Cong. Edcel Lagman
October 10, 2020, 02:01:51 AM
PRESS STATEMENT
REP. EDCEL C. LAGMAN
0917-1023737
09 October 2020

LAGMAN: DUTERTE MUST ENFORCE NOW THE
15-21 TERM-SHARING DEAL HE BROKERED

The crippling impasse in the acrimonious contest for the Speakership is inevitably and ultimately traceable to President Rodrigo Duterte’s having brokered in July 2019 a term-sharing agreement between Reps. Alan Peter Cayetano and Lord Allan Velsaco, both staunch supporters of the President.

The on-going power struggle has derailed the budget deliberations and imperiled the seasonable enactment of the General Appropriations Act for 2021 due to the unprecedented and precipitate actions of Speaker Cayetano to hold on as Speaker.

Since Cayetano does not want to honor the “15-21” deal on the pretext that the majority of the Representatives want him to prolong his tenure as speaker, then it is incumbent upon Duterte to unequivocally enforce the term-sharing agreement because what the President has brokered must not be broken as it binds Duterte’s allies.

Duterte must tell the Members of the House and the people in no uncertain terms that the compromise must be respected and honored, and Cayetano must irrevocably resign and Velasco should take over as the new Speaker.

The President must avoid any ambivalent language or mystical message which could be subject to differing interpretations.

Since the President said that he is not a lame duck, perforce, he must instruct his supermajority allies in the House to follow his clear and unambiguous solution to the impasse.

The tradition, albeit flawed, is that the Speaker is chosen in Malacañang, and the anointment is simply confirmed by the President’s allies in the House of Representatives in an uncontested nominal voting.

Moreover, the President must call soonest the Congress to a special session so that the deliberations on the enactment of the national budget could resume and assure the timely passage of the national budget for 2021

Section 15 of Article VI of the Constitution authorizes the President to “call a special session at any time.”

Job Opportunity / No More 13th Month Pay
October 10, 2020, 01:46:14 AM
By Radyo Ronda
13th MONTH PAY, NO MORE?

Inspiration & Hope / Don't React, Respond
October 09, 2020, 06:30:24 PM
By Benny Tutor

THE OPERATIVE lesson I've learned from our midweek study group is "don't react, respond." To react is to act on a trigger--whether person, situation or circumstance--based on impulse, instinct or raw emotion. To respond is to exercise one's choice in dealing with the same trigger, especially when the person, situation or circumstance is unfavorable, unreasonable or unfair. The shorthand for the response process is P-R-A-Y: Pause, Resist first impulse, Ask for the guidance of the Holy Spirit, and Yield to the will of God. An illustrative example was given in the life of Isaac, Abraham's son, who was driven from well to well in parched land by pagan enemies and despite his formidable wealth and power, chose to respond meekly, foregoing claims of rights in favor of peaceful coexistence. Is wimpiness the right way to go then? I am sure that if prodded by a PRAY-ed for decision, Isaac would have stood for his rights or staked his claims. That a strong man would instead choose meekness--derived from the Greek word "praus" or "tamed strength"--in a very incendiary situation shows just how unshakable that strength is. In the end, even Isaac's enemies acknowledged his victory and God's hand in his life. According to my handbook, the lessons I need to apply on a daily basis are: (1) respond in meekness when people envy you; and (2) respond in meekness when people are unfair. This twin command is a tall order and indeed challenges me to respond, not on my strength but on His. Have a nice, responsive day!

Baguio City (1 December 2005) -- On the latest Pulse Asia Survey saying that one in every three Filipinos wants to move to another country and almost one quarter believes the Philippines is hopeless, poisoned politics is the root of the ripple of pessimism in the country right now, but this is being dented by growing confidence in the economy and the brightening prospects for next year.

The disgust of the people over the politics of personality, hatred and destabilization is evident, as they themselves witness how these pull down the economy and distract the momentum of our fight against abject poverty, the root of hopelessness.

Government acknowledges the sacrifice of Filipinos seeking better opportunities abroad, for their families and for the country, but it is not stopping to look for ways to keep them home by aiming at a strong economy generating well paying jobs.

Meanwhile, President Arroyo has expressed concern over the remarks of "an ally and good friend," Prime Minister Thaksin. She has directed the officials of the games to conduct a thorough and impartial investigation into the matter and submit an official report within 24 hours.

The leadership and officials of the games must see to it that the charge is promptly and thoroughly investigated, and immediately put out the results of the probe before the whole atmosphere turns sour. It is everyone's duty to be just and fair without bias towards any country or team. Sobriety and prudence are called for. We must treasure the solidarity and friendship among the competitors and their respective nations-as a tribute to the Southeast Asian neighborhood to which we all belong.

At the same time, we must not let this dampener sink the spirits of our athletes and dilute national pride. We must keep a high moral ground so that national pride in our victories will have weight and meaning. (PIA

Iloilo City (1 December 2005) -- About 24 million people living in the uplands in the country are putting tremendous pressure on the forests.

The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) said that efforts to restore some 86,000 hectares of denuded forests within five years include the reduction of upland population.

According to a study conducted by the University of the Philippines Population Institute in 2003, Western Visayas is next to Central Visayas in having the most number of occupants, which is 2.5 million over an area of 613,529 hectares. Central Visayas' upland occupants are spread over an area of 535,919 hectares.

It is not only these two which are on top of the list of reduction in upland population. The DENR said that there are additional 13 upland regions included in the effort.

According to the UPPI, studies show that population in the uplands would double in 30 years if present trends in upland population growth remain, coupled by continuous lowland-to-upland migration at an annual average growth rate of 2.8 percent.

The effort to reduce population in the uplands is part of the population management program which the government undertakes with NEDA funded by Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC) under the Overseas Development Assistance (ODA). (PIA 6)

Iloilo City (1 December 2005) -- The Commission on Higher Education (CHED) is urged to take appropriate measure on the deteriorating standard of education in medical and allied courses.

The House Committee on Civil Service and professional Regulation made the appeal based on the CHED report which stated that the national passing percentage of medicine licensure examination rose to 75.16 percent in 1995 and dropped to an all-time low of 56.26 percent in 2003, a big difference of 18.90 percent.

Pampanga Congressman Francis Nepomuceno expressed alarm that the trend of passers is decreasing enormously: 74.65 percent in 1996; 71.04 percent in 1997; 64.92 percent in 1998; 69.15 percent, 1999; 65.03 percent, 2000; 61.04, 2001; and, 63.18 percent, 2002.

Nepomuceno also noted that graduates of medical and allied degrees have nose dived. From a high of 60,058 students graduated in 1992-1993, it decreased to 33,547 in 2002-2003, or more than 50 percent margin.

The congressman said that CHED should padlock the medical schools around the country that failed to provide quality education, because it is not fair for parents to shoulder the burden of high cost of tuition and fees.

Meanwhile, Nepomuceno said he was disappointed that rural folks have no longer access to medical care because most of rural health doctors have shifted to nursing and opted to seek greener pasture abroad.

Iloilo City (1 December 2005) -- The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) is the top destination of overseas land-based workers in Western Visayas during the last 10 months of 2005 after it hired/rehired some 2,933 documented Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) as recorded by the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration 6 (OWWA 6).

Based on the same record, after KSA, Hongkong is the next destination of overseas workers in the region where a total of 1,266 processed their contracts for land-based employment in the said country during the same period.

Recently, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) said that Middle East is seen to remain the biggest source of employment for the OFWs in the next three years with KSA, United Arab Emirates (UAE), Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar, Oman, Lebanon, Israel, Libya and Jordan generating the most number of new job opportunities.

Related to this, Labor and Employment Secretary Patricia Sto. Tomas said that various marketing strategies will be pursued by the Philippine Overseas Labor Offices in the Middle East to ensure the OFWs' access to the new job opportunities that are projected to be generated in the region starting 2006 until 2008.

For the next three years, a total of 258,950 new jobs are projected by DOLE that would be generated in the Middle East. Of this number, some 173,600 new jobs will be generated in the Gulf Cooperation Countries (GCCs) of KSA, UAE, Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait and Oman and another 85,350 in Non-GCC countries of Lebanon, Israel, Libya and Jordan.

In the GCCs, the most number of new jobs are expected to be generated by the sustained construction activities and expansion in the medical, tourism, retail, ICT sectors and the expansion of the exploration of oil and gas while the non-GCCs countries are projected to need more foreign household workers and caregivers.

It also manufactures elementary tables and chairs and secondary armchairs. The center supplies the Department of Education (DepEd) and private schools with these products.

ADPI-MPC General Manager Mario Abaygar said this generous move of TESDA is a big help to their organization since their contract with the landowner where their productivity center in Sta. Barbara is situated is about to expire. He added that what is also important is the training component that goes along with the transfer. "What we also value is the assistance that TESDA will provide to us in the technical aspect especially on how we could improve the production of our chairs", Abaygar said.

True to its mandate, TESDA which was created under Republic Act 7796 provides effective supervision, coordination and integration of technical education and skills development programs, projects and related activities which will ensure the development and utilization of the nation manpower and

MANILA (1 December 2005) -- "Poisoned politics is the root of the ripple of pessimism in the country right now…"

This was the statement made by Press Secretary and Presidential Spokesman Ignacio Bunye in connection with Pulse Asia's lates report, saying one in every three Filipinos wants to move on to another country as some believes the Philippines is hopeless.

Despite this, Bunye made clear that the issue is already dented by the growing confidence in the economy and the brightening prospects for next year.

"The disgust of the people over the politics of personality, hatred and destabilization is evident, as they themselves witness how these pull down the economy and distract the momentum of our fight against poverty, the root of hopelessness," he said.

Meanwhile, the Secretary acknowledged the sacrifice of Filipinos seeking better opportunities abroad, for their families and the country, but pointed out that the present administration is not stopping to look for ways to keep them home by aiming at a strong economy generating well paying jobs. Philippine Archive / SEA Games Fixing
October 09, 2020, 09:55:27 AM
MANILA (1 December 2005) -- "I am concerned over the remarks of an ally and good friend, Prime Minister Thaksin."

Thus said President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo as she directed the officials of the Southeast Asian Games to conduct a thorough and impartial investigation into the alleged rigging and submit an official report within 24 hours.

The President made the move after Thai Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra issued remarks that the on-going 23rd SEA games were rigged in favor of the host-country.

"It is everyone's duty to be just and fair without bias towards any country or team," Mrs. Arroyo stressed.

Hence, she called on all Southeast Asian country-members for sobriety and prudence in order to treasure the solidarity and friendship among the competitors and their respective nations - as tribute to the Southeast Asian neighborhood. (PIA-MMIO)

Philippine Archive / Vice President Noli de Castro
October 09, 2020, 09:52:51 AM

Tacloban City (1 December 2005) -- In connection with the World Aids Day being commemorated today, the Department of Health Region 8 through Dr. Eduardo Pedrosa, head of the Information and Dissemination Bureau, urged the media and the Philippine Information Agency to help in reversing the HIV/AIDS epidemic across Asia and the Pacific including China through massive information dissemination and advocacy campaign.

Dr. Pedrosa who was guest at the Harampang at PIA today said that in the Philippines there are 1,515 aids cases reported as of June 2001. The Department of Health however, believe that there are more cases that are not reported because of varied reasons and so the actual cases may be determined by multiplying the reported cases one hundred times.

Dr. Pedrosa clarified that when we say that a patient is HIV positive, he is positive of the virus but without any manifestations yet. On the other hand, an AIDS patient already have the signs and symptoms of the disease.

Asked on the number of HIV positive cases in the Region, Dr. Pedrosa said that DOH 8 know of four reported cases. Two are prostitutes from Samar and the other two are male government employees who are still employed up to the moment. Dr. Pedrosa said that the families of these employees are not aware of the condition of the male employees.

The patients have the right to privacy which is being protected by RA 8504 or the Philippine Aids Prevention and Control Act. This means that the patient may or may not report that he is HIV positive, he may not even tell it to his wife or parents.

The problem is the HIV/AIDS patients are free to roam around and contaminate other unknowing people with the disease.

According to the report of World Health Organization, drugs and prostitution are driving the HIV/AIDS epidemic across Asia and the Pacific including China where the virus has spread to all 31 provinces and regions despite efforts to contain it.

There is a need for the local government executives to "act boldly and urgently" to reverse the course of the epidemic, Dr. Pedrosa urged. He said that the media plays a very important role in the prevention and control of the dreaded disease. (PIA 8

Maasin City (1 December 2005) -- There were at least twenty-two new Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program (CARP) beneficiaries who attended the Health Care Program and Leadership Training held recently at Hidden Valley, Liloan, Southern Leyte.

According to Department of Agrarian Reform Information Officer Angeli Kaindoy of Sogod, Southern Leyte, the training was conducted by the Holy Peace Foundation based in Paranaque City , a Non-Government Organization that assisted DAR in educating CARP beneficiaries and indigenous people regarding health care and other leadership programs.

It was also reported that the two-day training led by Sr. Eva Maamo, one of the Board of Directors of the Holy Peace Foundation was also attended by the beneficiaries from the provinces of Bohol and Leyte.

Kaindoy further quoted DAR Development Facilitator Victoria Ligtas that the training gave the beneficiaries more support in order to improve their lives in addition to the training they had attended at the Paranaque City Holy Peace Foundation Hospital last January 2005.

Meanwhile, another related training at Brgy. Pinamudlan, San Francisco, Southern Leyte was held recently, still on Health Care and Livelihood Program.

The one-day training was attended by (47) CARP beneficiaries which was led by Sr. Eva Maamo of the Holy Peace Foundation.

A follow-up home visitation was conducted by the foundation after the (2) trainings to know whether the beneficiaries have applied what they had learned from the said training. (PIA-So. Leyte

San Fernando City, La Union (1 December 2005) -- The sterling performance of the Filipino athletes in the 23rd SEA Games and the continues performance of the peso against the dollar are very welcome respite, after the serious political crisis and negative news about the country that pervaded since July.

The Filipino athletes who are mostly virtually unknown are continuously harvesting medals for the country amidst the cheerings of many Filipinos who go out of their way to watch the athletic events and lend their moral support. Our athletes are determined to be the champion in the SEA Games and give honor to the Philippines, as they continue to project that they are epitome of resilience, discipline, excellence and sportsmanship.

On the other hand, the overseas Filipino contract workers (OFWs) who are the unsung heroes of the country continue to work hard abroad and pour in heavy dollar remittances which helped propped up the peso to its highest since March this year that catapulted the peso to be the best performing currency in Asia against the dollar.

Thanks to the Filipino contingents in the 23rd SEA Games and to the OFWs for giving positive outlook for the Philippines and making it consequential in the ASIA Map, reverting the gloom and doom scenario the enemies of the Arroyo administration has been painting. For as GMA's foes continue to employ all sorts of antics to topple her, they are in the process destroying the whole nation. It feels good that for once in a long while, the Filipino is welcomed by a good news as he wakes up in the morning.

As we salute our athletes and OFWs, we also hope that our political leaders both in the opposition and administration will finally put a stop on their dirty political bickerings and instead direct their energies in giving honor, glory and fame to the Philippines emulating the SEA Game Filipino athletes and OFWs. Bohol Governor Art Yap emphasized during the RDC-EDC  meeting the importance of leveraging national and local funds for greater impact in addressing the prevailing Covid-19 challenges.

The governor made an impassioned appeal for the RDC-7 to ask the national government to fund and implement local projects together so the impact on the ground is greater and more purposeful.

There are already domestic stimulus package and ready for implementation. The LGUs just need the national government to spend Bayanihan 2 Funds in tandem with LGUs.

In Bohol, the tourism and transport sectors, especially the tour transport groups, are the ones badly hit by the pandemic.

Catarman, Northern Samar (1 December 2005) -- The children of Northern Samar will continue to benefit from the UNICEF's Country Program for Children. According to Neciforo Rubenecia Jr., acting provincial planning and development coordinator, the UNICEF has decided to implement the Sixth Country Program for Children (CPC VI) in the province. This is a continuation of the Fifth Country Program for Children (CPC V) being implemented by UNICEF in selected provinces nationwide.

Rubenecia stressed that the decision to continue the program was based on the good performance of the province in terms of targets met. This was largely due to the guidance and support of Governor Raul A. Daza and the cooperation of partner agencies involved in the implementation of the program.

The Country Program for Children gives priority to children in the depressed areas of the province.

Projects being implemented are along the areas of advocacy, protection of children in armed conflicts, health, water and sanitation, education, local governance and information.

The Country Program for Children also focuses on the rights of the children. The provincial government of Northern Samar with the provincial planning and development office as CPC VI secretariat monitors the implementation of the projects being handled by different institutions, organizations and agencies in the province.

These partner agencies are the different Local Government Units, government agencies like the Department of Health, University of Eastern Philippines, Department of Education, Northern Samar, Northern Samar Provincial Health Office and some non-government organizations operating in the province. Attention School Leaders â€" remember the ordinary?

Remember how leading your school was a joy, even though it brought its own challenges, but they were pretty normal challenges?

You know…

School would start its new term, teachers are back in front of their students; students are excited to join their new classes and you’ve planned your meetings and events to keep the school on track for another successful school year.

The curriculum is in place, and the school is buzzing with activities…

Now, though a distant memory right?

Maybe this is more familiar now?

- You’re not sure how many students now will actually be attending school this week, next week, next year?
- The government guidelines are changing so frequently that you really can’t plan anything
- Plan A turns into Plan B, Plan C and now you’re looking at Plan G!
- And still nothing is working?
- You’re trying to plan now only for the short term, because you genuinely can’t see past that
- All the while, your priority is keeping the staff and students safe.

The pressure as a School Leader feels completely unsustainable.

Imagine too â€" a client of ours is unable to even TRAVEL to his school.  He’s head of a school in South East Asia and is stuck in the UK.

Travel restrictions now are such that he’s having to lead his school not just remotely, but from another country, even a different time zone.

Now, in amongst all this chaos believe me when I say there is HOPE!

There is a way forward and there is a better way to navigate this chaos.

I’m Matt Hall, and I work with Gill Kelly.

Gill knows exactly what it means to lead through challenging times. As a former headteacher of three different and diverse schools, she is now an executive coach and has helped dozens of school leaders navigate their way successfully through really tough circumstances and come out thriving.

I’m also an executive coach and former school leader, both in the UK and internationally. Gill and I are spending our days supporting dozens of school leaders who are working through the current challenges. It is our mission to help them not just survive, but thrive through these times.

We can help you fall in love with leading your school again.

And we’ll show you exactly how you can do this.

Join us for our FREE Webinar on 13th October 2020 at 9am (BST) and we’ll show you exactly

- Why Clarity will become your answer to everything
- How to find your Voice and silence the detractor
- How to own your future and take back control

As a School Leader, the responsibilities are huge, and how you continue to lead with confidence and balance in this time is really important.

Break the habit of self-doubt and build real confidence.

Fall in love with leading your school again.

Join us here https://makingstuffbetter.co.uk/

See you soon.

So it is no wonder that GST would be California’s highest ranking solar installer. They really take care of their customer from that first phone call, all the way up to the installation. And this achievement holds even greater weight by the fact that California is leading the nation with over 4.7 million homes powered by solar and over 100,000 employed in the solar industry, several times more than any other state. But perhaps another reason customers have ranked GST so high on SolarReviews is because of their remarkable accessibility post-installation. The business-customer relationship remains for the duration of its 25 year warranties. If a customer is having trouble with a panel or with monitoring their energy production, GST is there to make sure the customer gets the most out of his or her investment.
Geddy Friedman, Marketing and Reputation Management for GST says, “We are very much involved with our customers for the entire solar process. And that includes even after their system is installed. We understand our reputation and success moving forward depend not only on educating the customer and providing them the best renewable energy alternatives, but also in keeping them happy for many years into the future. This means listening to their concerns and doing all that we can to handle them as soon as possible.”

Once those terms are decided upon, GST will arrange the installation, taking great care in the layout of the home or business, as well as the personal concerns of the customer. After the installation, net metering is set up so that the new solar home or business owner can monitor their energy production in real time.
That is all there is to it! The customer has gone solar with Green Solar Technologies and can then begin saving for decades to come. A lot of GST’s business comes from referrals of previous customers who have had the pleasurable experience of trading their permanently escalating utility bill for a temporary, low, fixed payment.

Bohol Latest News / Panglao-Tagbilaran Bridge
October 07, 2020, 03:16:39 PM
A GRAND VIADUCT TO SPREAD PROGRESS TO THE NORTH. Upon the motion of Gov. Art Yap, the Regional Development Council (RDC)-7 Infrastructure Development Committee (IDC), in a special meeting this afternoon, approved a resolution asking the DPWH to authorize a study to be immediately undertaken so that any amendments, if feasible and possible, can be done as soon as possible to have a phase 2 of the Third Panglao-Tagbilaran Bridge for purposes of unlocking, redesigning additional land potential in Tagbilaran City and to create greater connectivity between the impoverished northern municipalities with the progressive Panglao and its tourism opportunities.

And, when having undertaken that amendment, the project shall be approved as a multi-year project- -the express viaduct to link Panglao Island and downtown Tagbilaran City.

The governor’s proposal is to build something of a connector in that portion where the bridge lands into downtown Tagbilaran near the port and then build a bypass highway that can enter the back portion of Tagbilaran to add value to the site of the old Tagbilaran airport which is owned by the government that is about 28 hectares.

The site of the old Tagbilaran Airport can be developed into a creative hub for retail and for creative industries to start off and trigger a redesign, a reengineering of downtown Tagbilaran.

The design is to connect Panglao Island through an express viaduct to the barangay Manga portion of Tagbilaran. With just have a little more funding, that can still extend further north a bit, maybe about a few kilometers north and that way, it will be able to connect the impoverished northern municipalities with the progressive tourism of Panglao island and where the international airport is.

That will connect Panglao Island and all its tourism opportunities with northern Bohol which also has connectivity to Cebu because that is where Tubigon is, that is where Getafe is. That will give the people an option to come in through Tubigon or Getafe and exit through the international airport or they can also come in through the port of Tagbilaran and exit out there, bypassing the city altogether.

This viaduct is going to give us so much flexibility and it will unlock a lot of property value. With just a matter of a few billions for this viaduct, you are actually getting a greater rate of return, rather than spend maybe less than a billion or a little over a billion or two billions into a third bridge and what rate of return? What investment rate of return are you going to get? But if you even double or triple the amount, anyway it’s a great multiplier- -infrastructure expenditure, and then you unlock the value of the old Tagbilaran Airport which is owned by the government, you would also unlock the potential of Tagbilaran city. You will suddenly give the city a breathing space. Whereas right now, it is so congested and there’s really nowhere else to go.

This is in consideration that there are already two bridges connecting Panglao and Tagbilaran City to the mainland. The third bridge will have its Panglao side in barangay Songculan and it’s going to land straight on downtown Tagbilaran in the port. The question is what value does this third connector bridge bring. It may bring in some value, but it’s going to bring in more congestion as well. Having a phase 2 of the project that will connect further to the northern towns will maximize the funds of the national government allocated for the project.

The governor has already sent a letter regarding this proposal to the regional director of DPWH-7, and also to DPWH Sec. Mark Villar.

The province of Bohol is now seeking the approval of RDC-7 so the project can be considered for the technical studies and for future funding.

The original project, which implementation is ongoing at the Panglao side, will not be affected, since the new proposal will comprise phase 2.

For his part, DPWH-7 Planning Division Chief Nonato Paylado said there has been an initial assessment already from their end that they can harmonize it with the original project.

Bohol Latest News / Landmark in Bohol
October 07, 2020, 02:12:40 PM
By Ven Arigo
ANOTHER LANDMARK TO ETCH BOHOL IN PHILIPPINE HISTORY is the proposed Central Visayas Regional Cultural Hub on Banat-i Hill overlooking the province's capital and only city, Tagbilaran.

The site development plan was tackled today by Gov. Arthur Yap, First District Rep. Edgar Chatto, DPWH-7 Planning Division Chief Nonato Paylado, Architect Niño Guidaben, Lutgardo Labad of the National Commission for Culture and the Arts and Bohol Arts, Culture and Heritage Council, and Evelyn Ayuban of the Provincial Engineer’s Office.

The imposing hub structure on the hill, a part of barangay Bool and Tagbilaran City's highest elevation, has to be new normal compliant.

The road leading to the site will have bike lanes and be spruced up to send a welcoming, embracing ambience.

There will also be museums and exhibits from other provinces in Region 7 to be showcased in the cultural hub.

It will be part of the MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conventions, Exhibitions) tourism in Bohol under the new normal.

On Banat-i Hill will also stand Bohol's new Hall of Justice.

Sustained by the Yap leadership in tandem with Vice Gov. Rene Relampagos, efforts for both landmark projects have been exerted since the administration of Chatto as then governor.

COTABATO CITY --- A 19-year old male Teduray committed suicide Tuesday in a COVID-19 facility in South Upi, Maguindanao after having been restive several days before.

South Upi Mayor Reynalbert Insular said Wednesday Benjie Udasan hanged himself inside the isolation facility.

Insular said Udasan, whose family is in South Upi, was required to undergo 14-day isolation for having been in Tacurong City in Sultan Kudarat province where there COVID-19 cases.

“We are still trying to get a clear picture of the suicide incident. We assure you of utmost transparency on this,” Insular said Wednesday.

He said Udasan tested negative for COVID-19 but was asked to undergo a 14-day isolation just the same as part of their local government unit’s pandemic containment effort.

Udasan’s father, Antonio, told reporters he wants the incident investigated extensively.

Responding members of the South Upi municipal disaster risk reduction and management council said Udasan was already dead when they arrived at the scene after receiving information that someone in the isolation facility committed suicide.

General Topic / Who Rock the Jar?
October 07, 2020, 10:02:14 AM
Reposted from FB:
If you collect 100 black ants and 100 red ants and put them in a glass jar nothing will happen, but if you take the jar, shake it violently and leave it on the table, the ants will start killing each other. Reds believe that black is the enemy while black believes that red is the enemy when the real enemy is the person who shook the jar. The same is true in society.

Men vs Women
Left vs Right
Rich vs poor
Faith vs Science
Gossip, rumors, etc ...

Before we fight each other, we must ask ourselves: Who rocked the jar?
