Live Your Success Stories To Sell Your Purposeful Work

I was lost and became highly dependent on alcohol for almost 10 years of my life. That period was a very dark one, as you can imagine. My life then for the most part was filled with drunken blackouts, self loathing, mind fuzz, emptiness and so on. Thank God, I snapped out of it before the habit killed me. The snapping out process didn't happen overnight. It was a painful one but it did one thing for me -- it helped me to see the bigger purpose of my life. Within a few months, I braved the criticisms that came my way and did what I had to do to do my purposeful work. It worked out very well for a while. I thought I found bliss until I hit my new comfort level, and I knew I have to live my life differently yet again.

An Ounce Of Doing Things Right Is Worth Pounds Of Wrong Theory

Finding the facts is not just a lifestyle for an honest news reporter, it is a necessity for all. Especially to use the facts you find right actively. So, think about this: Reality works when we are realistic and pounds of good sounding wrong theory is never better than an ounce of effective action and it does not matter how good the theory sounds or how much you have of it.

Some 20 new radar stations will come into service this year, a spokesman of Russia's Aerospace Defense Forces said Tuesday.

The radars include Gamma-S, Nebo-U, Podlyot-K, Desna and Kasta systems, which will enable the military to better detect and monitor space objects and ballistic and aerodynamic targets, Alexei Zolotukhin was quoted by the RIA Novosti news agency as saying.

He gave no further details on the exact number and whereabouts of these radar stations.

On Sunday, the spokesman said that with the Integrated Space Tracking and Combat Command and Control System, the Russian military had tracked about 40 launches of foreign and domestic ballistic missiles and space rockets in 2012.

He also announced Sunday that Russia would build three Voronezh radar stations this year, two in Siberia and the other in the central Orenburg region.

Finnair was considered as the world's safest airline by the end of 2012, Finnish Broadcasting Company YLE reported on Tuesday, quoting the JACDEC Safety Index.

According to the report, Finland's national carrier topped the list with the least fatal accidents, followed by Air New Zealand, Cathay Pacific Airways and Emirates and Etihad.

Jet Airliner Crash Data Evaluation Centre or JACDEC,is a Hamburg-based information collector and analyzer, whose database is said to incorporate thousands of entries of safety occurrences. It collects information of more than 800 airlines in 178 countries and regions.

The Safety Index was developed from the collected data, and was deemed as a probabilistic measurement of airline safety.

It counted the fatalities per Revenue Passenger Terameter performed by airlines in the world.

Finnair is the flag carrier of Finland. The Finnish government is the biggest owner, with 55.8 percent of the shares. It has been ranked one of the safest airlines for several times.

Finnair's last fatal accident was in November 1963, when an OH-LCA crashed near Aland islands, killing 22 passengers and all the crew members. The airliner has relatively few misses and other incidents ever since.

Visiting Japanese Foreign Minister Fumio Kishida on Thursday announced that Japan will be accepting more Filipino nurses and caregivers as part of Manila and Tokyo’s efforts to expand bilateral economic cooperation.

“On the economic front, we agreed to advance cooperation in…accepting Filipino nurses and caregivers in Japan,” Fishida said in his remarks at the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) following his bilateral meeting with Philippine counterpart Albert del Rosario.

Fishida did not give further details but Foreign Affairs spokesman Raul Hernandez, in a separate interview, said the new initiative is expected to “hasten the employment of nurses and caregivers in Japan.”

“Details on this are still being discussed,” Hernandez told reporters.

Since the Philippines started deploying health workers to Japan in 2009 under the Japan-Philippine Economic Partnership Agreement, only 15 nurses and one caregiver have passed the stringent Japanese licensure exams out of 237 Filipino nurses and 396 caregivers who have undergone training in Japan.

Japan has vowed to take steps to improve the employment scheme for foreign health workers to attract more Filipinos in seeking employment opportunities in Japan.

The Japanese government said it has introduced “improvements” in the licensure exams by incorporating English medical terms and using simpler Japanese words to make it “more passable” for foreign applicants. Japan modified the content of its exam last 2010.

Those who will fail the licensure tests in Japan can only re-take the exam within their prescribed period of stay in Japan.

If after several tries they still fail the examination, they would have to return to the Philippines and re-apply again for training until they become qualified and licensed health workers in Japan.

Apart from a six-month paid language training, Filipino nurses and caregivers subsequently work in Japanese hospitals and caregiving facilities, for three years and four years, respectively, to familiarize themselves with the Japanese healthcare system.

During that time, nurses undergoing work-training receive an average monthly salary of 130,000 yen to 220,000 yen or roughly P66,000 and P113,000 in local currency. For caregivers, the monthly wage ranges from 125,000 yen to 185,000 yen or P64,000 and P95,000.

One of America’s most prominent churches, the Washington National Cathedral, which holds funerals and celebrations for US presidents and prominent leaders, announced on Wednesday that same-sex weddings will be performed within the Episcopal institution.

“We enthusiastically affirm each person as a beloved child of Godâ€"and doing so means including the full participation of gays and lesbians in the life of this spiritual home for the nation,” said Rev. Gary Hall, dean of Washington National Cathedral, in a statement released by the church.

The 106-year-old church has hosted presidential inaugural services, as well as memorial ceremonies for US presidents Dwight Eisenhower, Ronald Reagan and Gerald Ford.

Hall said the decision to allow same-sex marriage in the “most visible faith community within the Episcopal Church,” was due to the legalization of civil marriage for same-sex couples in Washington, where the cathedral is located, and the nearby state of Maryland.

The cathedral, which welcomes hundreds of thousands of visitors each year, can be seen as having a “long history of advancing equality for people of all faiths and perspectives,” Hall said, adding that he hopes that this decision will influence US citizens to be more accepting of same-sex marriage.

“As a kind of tall-steeple, public church in the nation’s capital, by saying we’re going to bless same-sex marriages, conduct same-sex marriages, we are really trying to take the next step for marriage equality in the nation and in the culture,” Hall said, according to the Associated Press (AP).

The National Cathedral is among one of the first US Episcopal institutions to offer same-sex marriage ceremonies that will enable the church’s lesbian, gay, bi-sexual, and transgender members “to share in the sacramental blessings of Christian marriage,” Hall stated.

To be eligible for marriage at least one person in the couple must have been baptized and be active within the church or “have played an exceptional role in the life of the nation,” the cathedral stated in a press release.

“It is my hope and prayer that, if all of us open ourselves to the fullness and diversity of our nation’s many voices, we will learn to walk together in a new way as we listen for God’s call to us to be faithful to each other and to God,” Hall said.

Technology / Microsoft Live Messenger Discontinued

by pna

Microsoft on Wednesday announced that its instant messaging service Messenger will be officially shut down on March 15, reminding users to move to Skype, the real-time Internet communication service it bought in 2011.

In an email to users titled "Important info about your Messenger account," Microsoft said Messenger's more than 100 million users can migrate to Skype by signing in with their Microsoft accounts and enjoy features like instant messaging, video calling on cell phones and screen sharing.

Microsoft acquired the VoIP (voice over Internet Protocol) service Skype in May 2011 for 8.5 billion U.S. dollars and planned to gradually merge it into its every product, like Xbox and Windows Phone.

Last November, the software giant announced it will move Messenger's users to Skype in the first quarter of 2013 with the exception of Chinese mainland where Messenger will continue to be available.

Microsoft's Messenger service is often referred as "MSN" as it was first launched as "MSN messenger" in 1999.

In June 2009, on the 10th anniversary of Messenger's release, Microsoft said the service attracted over 330 million active users each month worldwide.

Even though setting goals is important polls show that only about 45% of Americans set New Year's resolutions. And it is even more interesting to note that only about 8% of those setting goals actually reach them. To build a house you need plans. So, why not having plans or goals to build a life? Yet, polls show that the vast majority of people do not set goals when it is clear that setting goals is the key to their success. Setting goals make people more successful because clear goals give people more clarity on their end vision, they drive them forward in life, they give them more focus in their actions and they make them more accountable to carry out those actions. Basically, setting goals make people the best they can be.

Competing Against Yourself

Sometimes in life we wish to attain a goal which is rather elusive, and in our pursuit we note that there is no competition, the only competition would be ourselves. Persistence - On the Road to Success

There is an uphill. A brutal 200 metre 45 degree angle climb of tarred road. I sprint this uphill. It beats me every time. I fear it but I am not afraid of it. The goal? The Art Of Vision

If you want to fly, fly. If you want to sing, sing. Don't put off another moment doing that which you've always dreamed of. Sitting at my desk after a glorious day walking the meandering hills of Dorset in the UK, where I'd watched several paragliders soaring above me in seemingly effortless fashion. I was walking near a Neolithic site and a nearby Bronze age fort, with spectacular views all around, a cloudless sky - pretty unusual for England in November - and several people were flying remote control gliders, with obvious enjoyment, as families, and dog walkers enjoyed the fabulous weather. Sheep and cattle were grazing - it was like a summers day albeit a chill in the air. Stopping to talk with a man who was working on some kind of propeller 'machine'. an engine he would somehow to attach to his paraglider - he was a big man, and I wondered how anything could lift him into the air - he pointed out where the paragliders flew from. When we spoke the air was too still, there were no thermals for any flight. No visible paragliders.
