Unya, wala man lagi ko ninyo gi ban? Lorenzo?

Talk to the hand Lorenzo. I find no competition.

Kinsa man nato ani Lorenzo nga kung mag debate, i modify diay ang ilang previous post, unya mo deny?  sultihi ko be?

When I came to this forum, I looked for an avenue to share my thoughts with.  Friendship is a bonus and I do not want to gain friends by praising them for their shoes, praising them of their war freak ideas, or praising them with their non logical ideas or ambigous sentence constructions.

#9
What is indeed a personal or class attack, basaha ninyo kanang mga thread ni Dagohoy.

#11
When Manay at one time, questioned the grammatical correctness of my statement.  I did not take it personally. Instead , I explained  to her, that it was intended as a phrase.

#12
I will never say that your English is in order or your ideas are logically correct, when I think they are not.

I dont mind being corrected either.  Ang kaparat, personal attack kuno ang mu correct ug English grammar.

#13
This " Personal Attack" must have guidelines.  If not, it will give Admins a blanket authority to decide on it which in effect authoritarian in nature.
#14
To be honest, opening a thread about,"all about shoes", and posting your expensive and nice shoes is a blatant way to show off what you have.  For what reason do you post it?

Everyone of us, wants to be recognized and I have enough of these recognitions and I do not need a forum for recognition.

If I point out a mistake, in substance and in form, it is because I find inconsistencies.  If you do not like it.  Then, its your problem.

Improve your work though.  Call me hambugera. Pero tan-awa ninyo una inyung kaugalingun. Kinsa man gud ninyo diri nag bawsanay ug dayeg sa mga admin?

I beg to disagree with the subject line here.  I argue and give my views, may it not be as sophisticated as some intellectuals here, and yet I still gain friends.  I may not be popular but that's okay because I got respect from other people.  Dapat when we argue, we don't have malice or intent to demean the other person.  Healthy lang gud na discussion and sharing of ideas.  Lingaw-lingaw lang ba pangpawala ug kamingaw.  If some of you here have some good ideas to share, share it in a manner na di pod ma insultohan tawon ang ubang katawhan. When we tell somebody na "hoy, tambok lagi ka!", you may be speaking the truth but is that nice to say?

We often speak about God's love to us and yet sometimes we can't find it in our hearts to be sensitive to other people's feelings.

In a forum people come to discuss.  They may not like what I am saying but I did never personally attacked people based on gender, political orientation and ethnicity.  Or if ever, I am provoked.

In the first place, we call a FORUM a forum, when it provides an avenue for discussion.

The comment "tambok ka" is a personal attack, and there is no better way to say it.  If you will tell a 100 kilo woman that she gained a little weight, then that is more demeaning, sarcastic.

I do not euphemize things, and I say it straight , direct from my brain.  And if you take it personally, not my lost.

Improve the quality of education, discard unnecessary subjects and give more focus to practical knowledge rather than theories most especially in Technical courses.

Extending the college years would not at all be helpful if we would not improve the educational system.

Generally, crime is not gender related.  Everyone can commit a crime irregardless of his or her sexual orientation

I was assigned  first in the remote and mountainous barangay of Pinalpalan, Malita Davao del in 1981.  We hiked 5 hours from the highway crossing rivers 18 times, descending and ascending on one line trail on slippery mountains.

We arrived Monday afernoon to the station. We started classes the following day, Tuesday. Friday morning, mopauli na. Mosugod ug hike  pababa pauli. Ussually 4 days ra ang klarong klase. This is true in many  far flung areas.

These are contributing factors of our weakening educational system in the country.

I salute on your dedication to the teaching profession, Fdaray.

Some homosexual men and transgender women have higher female chromosomes than male.  I say it can be both environmental or hormonal.

We also know of a homosexual man, born to a macho family, and basically surrounded by men/boys, yet they still become homosexual.

No clear and direct explanation.

Logically.

No two persons of the same sex can bear a child, so theoretically , they must have been born of straight parents.

ARTICLE l
NATIONAL TERRITORY
(1987 Philippine Constitution)

The national territory comprises the Philippine archipelago, with all the islands and waters embraced therein, and all other territories over which the Philippines has sovereignty or jurisdiction, consisting of its terrestrial, fluvial and aerial domains, including its territorial sea, the seabed, the subsoil, the insular shelves, and other submarine areas. The waters around between, the connecting the islands of the archipelago, regardless of their breadth and dimensions, from part of the internal waters of the Philippines.

Our rights and claims are based on law. Under the archipelagic doctrine under the U.N. Convention on the Law of  the Sea, an archipelago is one unit determined by connecting the outermost islands and islets with an imaginary straight line; all bodies of land and waters inside the baseline form the entire archipelago.

The purpose of the archipelagic doctrine (i’m using Justice V.V. Mendoza’s notes; these are not mine) is to protect the territorial integrity of the archipelago. Without it, (according to Justice V.V.): there would be “pockets of high seas” between some of our islands and islets, as for instance between Bohol and Siquijor, thus foreign vessels  would be able to pass through these “pockets of high seas” and we would have no jurisdiction over them.  And so, in order to protect the land,  the group of islands  and the waters between them and all islets and shoal and rocks within the baseline are all considered one unit under the archipelagic doctrine under  UNCLOS.

Our rights are based not only on international law but also on treaties: (still using Justice V.V. Mendoza’s notes; these are not mine): The Treaty of Paris defining the metes and bounds of the archipelago; the Treaty of  Washington between the U.S. and Spain in the 1900’s; ceding Cagayan, Sibuto, and Sulu; the Treaty between U.S. and Great Britain, 1930, ceding Turtle Island and Mangsi Island.

It is true that through the years, some of the islets that are part of the disputed territories, or some of the islets that fall inside the baseline,  have been occupied  by China and Vietnam.  The Chief Executive, the Commander-in-Chief, speaking through her lieutenants and assistants, wants Congress to exclude those  islets by drawing the baseline in such manner that those islets fall outside our baseline, thus  Malacañang ordered its congressmen to bring back the House bill on baselines, already approved on second reading and up for approval on third reading, brought back to the committee level again.

It is true that we are a small country with a small military capability compared to China.

But we have never given up those claims, we have never recognized their occupation  as evidence of ownership; international law does not recognize invasion or occupation as a source of right; we have not authorized our “leaders” to sell or cede any part of our claimed territories; those “leaders” are under question and scrutiny now for allegedly accepting bribes and commissions in hundreds of millions of dollars from Chinese corporate officials; we are not about  to surrender any part of our land; the dispute over those territories should be resolved in the U.N. and in the meantime the  Philippine legislature  should be doing its job of  defending our rigts, and those “leaders”, whether they are in Congress, the Supreme Court  or in Malacañang  selling our territories would be disowned, disavowed and driven away from our land. Maybe together with their foreign  patrons. We have a history of doing that.

Birth Abroad to One Citizen and One Alien Parent in Wedlock: A child born abroad to one U.S. citizen parent and one alien parent acquires U.S. citizenship at birth under Section 301(g) INA provided the citizen parent was physically present in the U.S. for the time period required by the law applicable at the time of the child's birth. (For birth on or after November 14, 1986, a period of five years physical presence, two after the age of fourteen is required. For birth between December 24, 1952 and November 13, 1986, a period of ten years, five after the age of fourteen are required for physical presence in the U.S. to transmit U.S. citizenship to the child.

Be careful with the qualifying provision..... provided the citizen parent was physically present in the U.S. for the time period required by the law applicable at the time of the child's birth.

We have different backgrounds, framework and intellectual wavelenghts.  If you point out a mistake to a professor at a University, he would not take it personally. If you academically discuss with your fellow students matters relating to the lessons discussed, he would be thankful for it.

If you discuss things in a forum, where it is composed of people with different frameworks, there would always be a tension.

#30
The irony is, forums are created for discussions.

There is also a need to reinforce highschool and elementary education.  I am a teacher at the university and I have personally noticed first year students who are not yet mentally ready for university education.

It would might as well be helpful to integrate foreign languages as an elective.  This is of course expensive because there are only few foreign language teachers in the Philippines but this would give us a very good advantage.

This is what I said. Dont put words into my mouth.
#50
Colliers,

I was not taking it in a general sense, this was based on my experience as a college lecturer.

Just a general observation, most of the Filipino men are so irresponsible for prefering  not to use condoms, saying it is an insult to their manhood or pointing out a flimsy excuse of discomfort or that they couldnt reach the ultimate enjoyment in sex.

On the other hand, the Pope in his visit to Africa proclaimed  that condom is not an effective instrument to curve AIDS cases. Still, we are bounded by religious dogmas. And we have no one else to blame.
#52
There must be a balance of professions in the labor market.  We should think of a long term solution and avoid going on trends.

The demand for IT positions and medical professions will stay for a longer period. But we have to be careful on not over producing them.

College Entrance Exams- NCEE or NSAT will be useful.  This is a way to see the inclinations of a student.
#53
The study conducted by an independent group contracted by the International Labor Organization claims that job mismatch is one of the reasons of unemployment and underemployment.

They did not claim that this is the only reason, but a big contributing factor.

It is a sad fact, that some of our doctors want to work in the states as nurses, lawyers as cleaners, degree holders as domestic helpers.  There is a job mismatch but there is no unemployment and there is a relatively high income opportunity. Sad, but the first level of Maslows heirarchy of needs is physical survival.

My only point is simple.  If the Philippine Regulatory Commission, the CHED, the DepEd, had only been keen on regulating professions not over producing nurses, directing students on their appropriate propensity, improved the educational system, there would have been no problem on job mismatch.

Do we imagine how many unemployed nursing grads in the Philippines because there is overproduction?

We need to define what is a personal or a class attack.

It must be clear within our rules, because if we leave it up to the wisdom of the Admins, there would be a danger of an authoritarian rule.

Has one of you, admins, even noticed how Datu Dagohoy categorically commited a gender, class attack?

No one seems to point that out, either.
#60
I would like to suggest, not to use side comments, like, " this is funny, this is a joke". My side comments are harsher.
#61
I never did provoke anyone here.
#62
There will always be clash of personalities here.  If I am being attacked, I  will attack back and I dont care.

If they slap me on the right side, they will lose their heads.

If they throw stones on me, I would throw a bomb back.

So do not provoke me.
#63
When one is categorically attacking gender, sexual orientation, isnt it an indication of a personal or class attack?

When one is provoking a personal attack.  These remarks " I do not stoop down to your level"

If you are being pointed out  with your grammatical errors, is it a personal attack? or is it just so that your pride is affected?

These political attack on Filipinas in Japan and Germany, " Germanyuki or Japayuki"

Admins were even not able to notice this.

Edna, I did not mean to demean you.  I only set you as a good example as you were so eager to claim that the quality of education in the Philippines is good and that first year students are generally ready for college education which isn't at all times the case.

Even now as you told me, you are a good example of underemployment.  You are a degree holder in Engineering but working as a receptionist in a hotel.

This is the reality which we want in the future not to happen.  We want you to be competetive as an engineer, globally.

Job mismatch Edna, is that when your qualifications do not seem to match the required skills of the job.  Like for example, a nurse applying as a lawyer, which is impossible.  This is hyperbole though, but it is an example of job mismatch.

This is true in the Philippines.  Not maybe the main reason of unemployment, but it is a contributing factor.
