It's not about recognizing who's superior. It's about respect.

i beg to disagree that men or husbands who help their wives to do house chores are "under de saya." trueness and manliness is measured neither by pwoer nor the authority a man has over his wife but it's how responsible he is and how he respect his wife as a human being. it's worthy for responsible gay to be called a true man than a a full blooded but irresponsible man.

Datu,

My uncle, who is a Medical Doctor (Internal Medicine) and is in UK with my Aunt--is very humble in regard to this situation. He not only cooks, but takes care of his daughter (my cousin). When they came to the 'states in spring 07 to visit my sister and I in college--I was surprised to see his mannerism.

That a graduate of a fine medical school in the Philippines, a Medical Doctor who is now in the UK can yet be so helpful to his wife and child. It is inspiring.

In humility, there is great reward. In helping, there is treasure.

Cheers.

Note,

let us not attack Machisimo. There is nothing wrong with Machisimo. I myself would subscribe to this concept (lol). However, being macho-macho does not mean one can forgoe his duties to his wife, spouse, partner, family.

You can be macho-macho at the same time be humble and work--cook food, clean the house, hilut your wife, (and make babies, lol)

The point is, it is all about courtesy and common respect.

Machismo is fine and okay. So long as you also have self respect as well as outward respect. Mao na ang differensya.

It's not only about "Pre, Pre, Pre, inum ta Pre"

But it is also about, "Mahal, gusto ba ka ug help? Mahal, unsa man gusto nimo i-kanun? Mo luto sad ko ha?"

That is more macho-macho than chugging down a San Miguel Beer or two. IMHO

To tell you the truth, Kiams, that is a personal life stand. I prefer to be with a woman--just to talk--or to be around my family than going out to drink or go to the bars with the guys.

Depende ra na sa laki, i guess.

Baby making. LoL.

If my wife gives me 4 children (preferably 4 little tambokikoy little Lorenzos), then ma happy jud ko. I'll have 4 hiluters. hahahaha

Preferably 2-4 years apart. That way one can hilut me, and by the time the eldest goes to college, another will take his/her place. And if they all grow up. Then, I'll borrow one of my Apos. puahahahahaha

Aahahahaha!

I know from first-hand experience. For 10 years I hiluted my dad. When I went off to college, my younger brother Don Rico took my place. hahaha. Now, Dad has trained Andre to hilut him also. LOL!

Pero you know, I notice that we boys have growed and bonded with our Dad because of the Hilut.

Afterall, we should care for our ginikanans, diba? I mean, he is the man that sucked our clogged sip-onon when we were still young--and could not breath. He did that to me, my sister, and my younger brothers.

Mao na i tell my brothers--better we hilut our Dad and show him Love b/c he sucked our siponon when we were but babies. Luuy pood among Amahan kai na siponon pood siya sa process. lol.

Mao na ang meaning of "MACHO MACHO"
Somethings some men will not do. Only the Macho man will do ;)

Kiams,

When our mother told us about the things our Daddy would do for us when we were babies, we laughed and thought she was kidding around. Pero tinuud man diay.

Ning ask mi ni Dad, 'Dad why did you do that? Wasn't it disgusting?'

Ingoon pood siya, "Ah, ug dili imung anak, dili gud. Pero kamo man ahong anak. You come from me. Kinsa man di mo sipsip ang siponon sa anak?"

Na kuratan jud ko  to hear that. That defines a man. And most of all, A Father.

Bem, all dads are good dads. They just express their love differently. Diba?

Daddy is very emotional, dili lang siya open to show it. Sa una, dili na siya mo say, 'I love you' but as we got older, he says it more often. Or mo show siya--very obvious.

I think ing ana man jud na ang Filipino Dads. B/c when i grew up, Kiams, i would go to my friends houses (white, black, latin) etc and notice that American dads are very vocal about their concern to their kids. They hug their kids openly, say things like, "I love you" very frequently. And the kids say it back. And for a Fil-AM growing up in the 'states, it was hard because one I had to adapt and grow into the society in the 'states and yet at the same time when i went back home, lived in a very traditional Filipino (BISAYAN) household. Were english was spoken outside--but inside the house--we spoke only bisaya.

I asked my mom about this before--why does daddy not say 'I love you' openly?

Ingoon ahong inahan, "Ayaw ka think that your Daddy doesn't love you because he doesn't say it openly as sa amahan sa imung amigong puti. Ginigugma mo tanan iyang anak. So proud is your dad of all of you--his kids. Dili na siya mo show nimo, pero sa work place, he cannot stop talking about you kids. Your Dad loves you, even if you think he does not show it--he loves you so much"

Mao na--when I heard this--i came to terms with the cultural divide. Yes I am American and live in the American way of life--but also I realized that indeed i cannot separate myself form my Filipino culture--which my parents still live in. And in the end, when we come to terms with this reality--we can better appreciate our parents, our fathers for who they are. And what they are.

Bem, Am very sure your dad loves you very much. Of course. You are his baby girl.
Sure ko ana.

A woman’s business is simply, the house preparation, supplying foods and wine. She may take no step for own motion, and may come to no conclusion in her own mind.

Cheers.

How could you assume such postings Ondoy? I don´t subscribe  to this and I think you must  think twice about posting  this controversial issue.
We are born equal and it is not stamped on males head that they are exempted from all household work. This assumption is a  mediocre.
