My mind is filled with mixed feelings, Mr Ferniz.

One is the respect and awe of the Pax Hispanica that transformed our country by linking us to the Western World, yet there is a lingering contempt for the Spaniards, for denying our people of our native culture. This writing system, to me, is very beautiful--and I personally never knew about its very existence in my studies of Philippine History, nor was it ever included in the Spanish almanacs that were written on the Philippines that I studied in History classes. It is as if they deliberately wanted to bar its inclusion in historical records.

Truly, it is true when people say, 'you learn something new every day'. I concur with that statement, my deepest gratitude extends to you, Mr Ferniz, for sharing this incredible piece of history.

That I never knew before.

Again, my obeisance,
Bran Lorenzo

In change, you gain something and lose some. We never realized the value of our heritage until it is lost. When I went to another country, I experienced different cultures and I am touched to witness how other nationalities are proud showing it off, never cared what other nationalities would say. Even to the extent of wealth and modernization, they are steadfast in preserving their own way.

I asked my Indian colleagues and checked other forms of writing and the Horuf Java form of writing is closer to Tamil or Malayalam form of writing, an ethnic group of south India. Some of its letters are even closer to Thai. These group once travelled to Borneo in search for spice.

I read some article before that the oldest form of writing is the Sanskrit where all South Asian and South East Asian writings were derived. Even some English words & letters were derived from Sanskrit. Let me search back my old files.

In our case it was Christianity introduced by the Spaniards that made us forget/abandon our system of writing and at the same time it is also Christianity that preserved it through the works of the Italian Lorenzo Hervas Y Pandura who collected 300 translations of the Lords Prayer as stated in the beginning of this thread.

Lorenzo Hervás y Pandura, 1787 Author: Saggio prattico delle lingue con prolegomeni e una raccolta di Orazioni Domincale in più di trecento lingue e dialetti (Practical examples of languages with prologues and a collection of the Lord's prayer in over 300 languages and dialects).

Mr Ferniz, so this baybayin script is influenced by Indian traders or was it influenced by Malays from the Javanese central plain? Did this language script arrive to the Philippines as we migrated and settled the islands from Java or did it arrive as a result of Indian and Arab traders?

B:), I already expressed gratitude to Sgt. Joey and the Tabaco family at the begining of my thread. Actually, I got this fonts from the same web site in 2005 when I was researching for Ancient Kingdom of Southeast Asia and the Sri Vijayan tribe (the Visaya) who ruled the Spice Trade. I learned from my research that Butuan City was once a major capital of a great kingdom with diplomatic representation from the Emperor of China and Bohol was its Annex.

Macky...like to give the credit for this to my son Jon who found it and also has tattoos of his 1st 2 kids names on his arms in Bisaya Hervás - Baybayin Alibata. I spent 21 years in the military and never managed to get one. My kids, who managed to avoid the military, have tattoos all over their bods as well as piercings, including the boys. Brave New World with old world markings...joey

Awit Sa Bohol – Written on original Visayan Sript (Bisaya Hervas)[/b]

Proem: Bisaya Hervás is based on a type face that appeared in 1787 in an Italian work by Lorenzo Hervás y Pandura, Saggio prattico delle lingue con prolegomeni e una raccolta di Orazioni Domincale in più di trecento lingue e dialetti (Practical examples of languages with prologues and a collection of the Lord's prayer in over 300 languages and dialects). The samples used to create this font are from two Austrian books that reproduced this Cebuano version of the baybayin, Illustrirte Geschichte der Schrift (The Illustrated History of Writing) by Karl Faulman, 1880 and Sprachenhalle (Hall of Languages) by Alois Auer, 1847.

According to history, kita mga Pintados or mga native nga puno sa tatoo as discribed by Legaspi.

Ang background sa ilang screen mga sulat sa Baybayin which is almost similar to the Visayan Hervas.

Somewhere ani nga thread, naay link ug puede nimo i download ang font. Unya dunay mga instructions unsaon pag gamit. Basta sayon ra kaayo.

Mao ni Grace ang link sa font:

http://www.tabacofamily.com/images/new/bisherv.zip

Once you dounload, just double click the zip file and it will open.

Then open your control panel and you will see fonts. Just copy contents of the zip file and paste it in your fonts window.
