simple questions:

did generations past miss out because they had no similar sex education this early?  are we more sexually illiterate, or reproductively less healthy, because we had no such lessons in our pre-adolescent years?

what if those in favor (the remarkable 63 percent) are parents who'd rather pass on their duties to the school because they're not too comfortable giving their children the lessons themselves?

what is the basis of this program, to begin with?  did curriculum planners arrive at a conclusion through scientific means that today's pre-adolescents are more mature to be formally introduced into the world of reproduction, or are they less responsible now so that they need to be taught sooner?  did these planners ever conclude that high school biology and health lessons aren't enough, so prior lessons are needed?  (i honestly don't know why this plan had come out.)

what if this program, said to be on its testing stage, turns out to be a failure?  will it be cancelled?  i mean, an experiment on some kind of lessons just might need a plan b to rectify a possible failure (i.e., more teenage pregnancies because the kids turned to each other for more experiments).

our educational system can hardly produce globally competitive learning of science and math for our students, and now we're adding the burden of sex lessons or whatever metaphor it's called.  i am afraid.

By all means, there is no high horse, Hubag. I walk on my own two feet and not on any horse (figurative). Let differences be put aside, my dear Hubag. I will be willing to walk with you in the same direction. Please know that if my posts were ever sounding too "high horse-like", know that it was not my intent.

But I will stand by my decision that any libelous posts, or any that holds discrimination and personal attacks will be acted upon.

I will never tolerate personal attacks in the Forum for means of pleasure and/or satisfaction.

as a poster myself, i know we run the risk of being misunderstood.  i remember trying to explain some things about the middle east in my exchange with alycx (missed now, by me).  somewhere along the way, she told me to socialize some more because my "knowledge" is making me lonely.  so i gave her 'socialize', and ended up being labeled arrogant (a wind blowing too hard).  such instances i take as leeways for more exciting exchanges, not for deletion or banning.  otherwise, this forum will be boring for most.

so you "will never tolerate personal attacks in this Forum, for means of pleasure and/or satisfaction".  what about if they're for means of displeasure and/or dissatisfaction, or for means of "attacking" someone else in favor of your side?

i can't imagine you deleting anyone who agrees with you, bro.  that's your tragedy.
#46024
your exchange is fascinating, bai hubs and bro enz.

i'm curious, though, as to what constitutes libelous comments.  i find this matter delicate because one of you is in the position to serve as judge and executioner at the same time.

Let me re phrase it,The child that has been raped and murdered did not get this much attention. She probably looking down on us and cry her heart out and if we can hear her she probably would say"the trees are lucky so much people cares and fighting for its  justice"...

and let me rephrase my answer, cuj, because i cannot understand anyway why you call your post as rephrasing when you simply repeated that "the child that has been raped and murdered did not get this much attention".  (my fault; my answer referred to the rapist-murderer and not the victim.)

my effort at explaining why, as "rephrased" now (and you don't have to believe me):  there were no stupid comments for or against her.  hypothetically, can you imagine a post that says "what is it about the girl that's interesting that's why she was raped and murdered? (my analysis)", and the post includes unnecessary blabber, like the rapist-murderer is intelligent, he is descended of heroes, etc.?  this forum would have been inundated!

and please, help that poor little girl rest in peace by not creating a script for her supposed monologue.  the most that we can do now is pray for the eternal repose of her soul and wait for justice to be served.  let's not insult her memory by alluding her fate to the fate of those guindulman trees.

#46027

sorry for my pedestrian understanding, bro enz.  (i cannot speak for the rest.)  i went along with this thread, which was started with a post on why guindulman and guindulmanons are a rare breed and all the noise about those cut trees that other tb posters care about is nothing but the ravings of green-eyed monsters.  if that isn't personal, i don't know what is.
#46028
reminder is well taken, bro enz.  may i, with apologies, call your attention though to the title of this thread.

the reason is simple.  no one defended him as noisily and as stupidly.  if he's found guilty beyond reasonable doubt, the wheels of justice will grind accordingly.  meantime, be glad that there are concerned citizens who care about our environment and heritage.
#46034
let him look as is as he was voted into office as is and not as how he should be improved physically.

i personally won't take any advice from a physically improved cosmetic expert who looks so artificial herself, she may as well be a cyborg.  (never mind her controversial boy toy who seems to be part of her beauty accessories whose acquisition she reportedly 'bought' with a multimillion condominium.)

if looks matter for the occupant of the highest office of the land, someone should have suggested that our outgoing president had needed to be stretched vertically.

it is enough that our president must look dignified.

This is interesting to read about, Mike. I discussed this with my father earlier this week and we both agree that Mr. Abunda is, indeed, a proficient public speaker. Whatever his decision is, his talent in the public state is noteworthy. I also recently found out from my father that Abunda is Visayan. Apparently the man is from Samar-Leyte.

may i disagree with you a bit on one point, friend enz.  proficiency in public speaking isn't enough to make one a statesman.  (i can't imagine howard stern taking a cabinet post in the u.s. government.)  besides, there are so many proficient public speakers, considering all our tv talk show hosts and radio commentators all over.

one of the public speakers i admire is this habal-habal driver in our vicinity.  he's so shy, his eyes are constantly downcast during ordinary days.  but let him have his drink, and soon we would hear him preaching, clearly and elegantly, on a hill-like area of our subdivision, quoting the bible to boot for all the residents to hear.  i'm still waiting for him to multiply bread and fish, but i dare not expect him to take a cabinet post despite his proficiency as a public speaker.

right on!  imagine if there was truth in that he is also being considered for foreign affairs.  while all cabinet secretaries are equal, this post is the 'prima inter pares', so to speak.  imagine him face to face with all those career ambassadors who were trained to the max in diplomacy.

sure, it is admirable that he holds a postgraduate diploma in foreign affairs (according to an earlier post in this thread).  but tough exams and years of exposure to world diplomacy is what it takes.

someone who holds an economics masteral degree is not necessarily an economist nor a journalism graduate a journalist.  it's what they have done and have proven in jobs related to their fields that make them so.  well, boy abunda is in showbiz...

assessing, not judging i hope, as we express our opinions about a potential public official bruited about as qualified to take on a high office.  we're not close to our presidents either, but as ordinary citizens we have a thing or two to say about them.

abundia as cabinet secretary?  well, maybe nothing is ever strange anymore.  there's lito lapid in the senate, lani mercado in congress (109 celebrities ran for public office in the last elections!), joseph estrada as ex-president, so why not richard gomez as ambassador to the united states?

how great can our country be?  showbiz people take on the reins of government and professionals leave to work abroad.

maybe piezas is the current version of those whatchamacallit :-X provincial politicians of the late '60s and '70s?  they say that a portion of cpg ave. in tagbilaran (sniff, sniff) used to be lined with acacia trees.  they cut them! :'(  vestiges of those trees are those tables and chairs at the governor's mansion and at... aumentado's residence(!?) and who knows who else's! :o

perhaps cultural historians like mariano luspo can enlighten us on this?

one thing obvious now is that tagbilaran does not have a showcase street, which are usually streets lined with trees.  frankly, all of tagbilaran city's streets are ugly. :-\ and it looks like guindulman is social climbing as a poor copy of the provincial capital.

I prefer the Magnum, whereas my younger sister likes the M16:

;)

such great stress-relieving exercises you two have!  to each his own, truly.

tried practice shooting twice before, with a magnum and an m16.  i turned cold soon after and promised never to do it again.  besides, i can never be a good shot.  where i aim for the point between the eyes, i ended up shooting between the balls.

but if push comes to shove, i'd prefer a bazooka.

dream on.  and the fact that the news release is by bohol chronicle needs factoring in.  sworn enemies, and now this nettling of an irritable mayor?

it was said that time was when the mayor didn't even want to pay the few pesos worth of terminal fee at the pier.  he is the mayor, so he owns the pier, so why should he pay?  (he didn't mind paying the terminal fee at the cebu pier.)  and now he's expected to account for a loan?  dream big.

You can reply your own response.

Because if you ask me, there is nothing to elaborate. Everything has been said, explained or responded. If you have a problem with that, tallk to my real big hand.

To me, this "trees" case is closed and nothing else to talk about. I do have better things to think about.

I don't know about you guys but if you want to start a case, I guess, make sure you know how to explain your side even further up to the Supreme Court. Because if you can't, why bother?

Why waste your time and somebody else's if things are really not that of a big deal.  This "trees" issue is old news and has been taken cared of.

ARE YOU KIDDING ME???

yes, sir, ma'am, sistah, and here i am responding to my own reply.  you're right, there's really nothing to elaborate.  it's not your problem, so why are you reading?

show my your "real big hand" and i'll show you a cut tree.

forums like tb is where we express ourselves.  we're free to do that just as you're free to express your bile.  but it's a long shot to talk about starting a case and going all the way to the supreme court when we're just aghast at those ancient trees that are no more.  besides, have you ever heard of a case against stupidity?

i kid you not.   but grow up, kid, and try harder to streamline your thoughts before you punch those computer keys.  remember, guindulmanons are a great breed.  don't disappoint us.  again.

Get over that trees issue. Talking about them is not going to make any lives better.

to anyone alive and breathing, the trees issue is not something one gets over and done with, except for the guilty ones.  talking about them would certainly make lives better, if not for us in the here and now, then for the future generations who could be less thoughtless because of the noise that we are making now.

Quote from: ABJayoma on June 01, 2010, 09:05:12 AM
The humanity doesn't own the trees. You know who they belong to. I don't have to spell it out for you. You know better than that. If you don't, you have to figure it out yourself, sorry. Or maybe this conversations would not occur if you have to get that trees issue a rest.

shout yourself hoarse, if you may, but humanity owns every tree on the planet.  we know you claim birthright to those cut trees in your town, but so does the rest of humanity.  you're right, i know who owns them.

Quote from: ABJayoma on June 01, 2010, 09:05:12 AM
Everybody has other things to worry about. But if you want to continue talking about them to the point that it is irritating already to listen to, then this issue will continue, plain and simple. And this could escalate to who knows.

sure, we even worry about idiots.  there simply are many things to worry about in this world, including cut trees.  our noise, even your irritation, aren't going to bring them back, plain and simple, but if such carelessness and thoughtlessness can be prevented from a repeat (sadly, after the fact), then our noise and your irritation shall not have been in vain.

but go ahead, i'll take your bluff.  let this escalate into... what?

I hope you understand what I mentioned about Guindulmanons. I don't have to elaborate them or add some more. They are self-explanatory and if you smart enough which you claim you are, then you don't need somebody to explain it to you.

Have a good day..

luckily, i do understand what you said about guindulmanons.  don't elaborate some more, please.  too much of a good thing is not good for my health, or yours.

aaahhh, so i claim i'm smart?  sorry, i never said such a thing.  remember, i'm not a guindulmanon, so how can i be smart?

but since you are a guindulmanon and it follows that you're the one who's real smart, kindly read over and over wolfpack823's reply #15 in this thread.  it's quite unlike my smarmy post; there's real sense there, for you.

what is interesting about guindulman?  those cut trees, what else!

superior genes, real or imagined, have nothing to do with cut trees.  so let's grant that guindulmanons have everything better, bigger, fairer, and all the townspeople may be due for canonization, but hey, does it have anything to do with cut trees, which is the raison d'etre for the slew of posts about the town here in tb?

so sorry, abjayoma.  harping about how superior your town and its people are won't bring back those trees, which belonged to humanity.
