(Reuters) – Supply from new harvests and the possible release of government stocks will continue to push Asian rice prices lower in coming weeks, traders said, with a new Vietnamese harvest due to hit the market.
Benchmark Thai 100 percent B grade white rice slipped to $455 per tonne from last week's $460, exporters said.
It has fallen 25 percent since the end of 2009 and almost 60 percent from the record high of $1,080 in April 2008.
