Ang Unggoy ni Balong

Nganong nagbakabaka man ang unggoy ni Balong
Nga unta sa pagkaon kanunay man kining buhong

Molukso, mangawot, motingsi, kang Balong mokumpayot

Sumpayi . . .

cleanest siguro in terms of bio-diversity kay wala pa man basura.

Just the same, the question remains: kinsay ga declare? May kredibilidad ba? Dili nato makita ang mga basura, pero adto man pud sa river mo drain ang liquid waste from the households and ricefields nga dependent on pesticides and inorganic fertilizers. Nobody has ever reported about the microflora population of the river. Biodiversity on the banks of the river is not that high. We can even identify the common ones.

Lilas - film or movie; also strips of a palm leaf to be used in weaving mats or baskets.

Duas - nagpakita sa parte sa lawas nga makapalaway, he he.

This is the ultimate bayle experience:

We had a relative and household assistant named Rosal, taga bukid  ibabaw sa among baryo. Table-table pud.  Mibundak pa bitaw nang ulan, daw binugkos nga mga taligsik (he he, mihapit og balak). Pirting pugong sa tiil kay first time naka high heel. Patay . . . kay na-slide bitaw siya sa hagdan nga gihapinan og cellophane, nahapla jud sija, as in face down nga gadupa.  But the show must go on, so smile pinarutput na lang gihapon ug mipwesto sa iyang lingkoranan uban sa iyang escort. . . napuno sa tubig.  Natabunan ang nawong sa King. Basta koronasyon, ipatong man gud og platform ang nakadaug. . . busa iyang gikusgan pa ang pagdugkit aron mosaka pa ang trapal.  Ug unsay nahitabo? Nagisi bitaw ang trapal from side to side!

By the way, ayaw kalimot og tabon sa inyong compost pile kay aron dili ukayon og stray animals, ug aron dili pud langawon.

There are at least two ways: mag buho sa yuta at least 1m x 1m x 1m, or maggamit og barel (oil barrel) nga tuyoan og buslot ang kilid for aeration. Kon naa na ni follow these steps.

1. Arrange branches at the bottom. This provides aeration for the bacteria.
Do this for several days until a layer of biodegradable materials is attained, mga duha ka dangaw.
3. Add a thin layer of soil, like one inch.
4. Sprinkle with water every now and then. Igo lang mabasa. Dili bas-on pag-ayo.
5. Add another layer of biodegradable wastes, then soil, and so on and so forth. Don't forget to water.
6. After one month, ukaya ang mixture to provide aeration. Do this two weeks thereafter even while you continue adding layers of waste everyday, and watering when needed.

Pwede sa potted plants or sa garden or lawn. Tungod kay acidic man usually ang fresh compost, mix it with other soils like sand and loam.

Happy composting!

Nagsugod-sugod pa diri sa Bohol ang organic farming even for rice. Sigi na'g training about vermiculture (growing earthworms) and vermi composting (using earthworms to hasten decay of organic materials). Compost making has been urged in all towns especially that every local government has been enjoined to implement a solid waste management program. TagP500 ang kilo sa live earthworms diri.

Raquel's farm is ideal for organic farming kay daghan siya'g source of nitrogen like soybean, string beans and other leguminous crops. Partner gyud ni sila sa mais which uses up a lot of nitrogen. All one does is plow under the soil the soybean hay before corn planting.

Anapog soil is alkaline. This is the reason why maayo og tubo ang mangga sa mga isla, like Guimaras which produces first-class mangoes for export. Mango is also productive in low rainfall areas. Heavy rainfall not only washes out flower induction chemicals but also deters pollination. Pesticide application is not necessary at flowering stage because the insect pollinators will be drastically affected. Grafted seedlings are recommended.

National Geographic:

Sea cucumbers are echinodermsâ€"like starfish and sea urchins. There are some 1,250 known species, and many of these animals are indeed shaped like soft-bodied cucumbers. All sea cucumbers are ocean dwellers, though some inhabit the shallows and others live in the deep ocean. They live on or near the ocean floorâ€"sometimes partially buried beneath it.

Sea cucumbers feed on tiny particles like algae, minute aquatic animals, or waste materials, which they gather in with 8 to 30 tube feet that look like tentacles surrounding their mouths. The animals break down these particles into even smaller pieces, which become fodder for bacteria, and thus recycle them back into the ocean ecosystem. Earthworms perform a similar function in terrestrial ecosystems.

Sea cucumbers, particularly eggs and young larvae, are prey for fish and other marine animals. They are also enjoyed by humans, especially in Asia, and some species are farmed as delicacies.

When threatened, some sea cucumbers discharge sticky threads to ensnare their enemies. Others can mutilate their own bodies as a defense mechanism. They violently contract their muscles and jettison some of their internal organs out of their anus. The missing body parts are quickly regenerated.

Sea cucumbers can breed sexually or asexually. Sexual reproduction is more typical, but the process is not very intimate. The animals release both eggs and sperm into the water and fertilization occurs when they meet. There must be many individuals in a sea cucumber population for this reproductive method to be successful. Indeed, many parts of the deep ocean host large herds of these ancient animals, grazing on the microscopic bounty of marine waters.

That's true. Daghan kaayo ta'g mga barangay or farm-to-market roads diri sa Bohol nga nag-putol-putol.  One reason for this is that the government, through the Congressman, apportions its budget per barangay. The barangay council determines which road or stretch of the road needs to be concreted, and prepares a resolution for funding support as well as program of works. Depende pud ni sa kapit.  Naay barangay nga sementado tanang kalsada, naa puy at least 100 meters ra.

Mao ra ni akong nahibaw-an, but I am certain mas daghan pa. Search for sea cucumber species, daghan kaayo na.

Mahimo sab pritohon or barbikyuhon ang sawpo. You can prepare mixed kinilaw with batuli, sawpo, lukot and fish with lots of panakot and other ingredients. Lami kaayo with humba or sinugbang babaoy.

Si David Gates diay ang singer. Dia ra:

Clouds

See the clouds adrift so far below
Everchanging as they come and go
Makes me wonder why I'm up so high
When really I am down so low

Of all the wonders I was one allowed
I think that I would always choose a cloud
Always brings my feelings right out loud
Whether I'm ashamed or proud

On this airplane comin' home to you
Sometimes I think I've flown my whole
life through . . .  my whole life . . . through
As I wing my way to you

See the clouds they're giving life below
In colors that the canvas cannot show
Keeping secrets no one else could know
For I'm the one who told them so

Now and then I get up close to you
I'd like to stay but I'm just passing through
So I'll have to say goodbye...
Until next time I fly.

Pwede na isumpay-sumpay ang mga pictures in slide presentation with this song as background music.

Balitaw

The balitaw is a love debate in song and dance by a man and a woman. Maria Colina Gutierrez says that 'It is more sung than danced.", but Dr. Jes Tirol says that "If it is not danced, it is just an awit banikanhon - a folk song." According to Gutierrez, "the balitaw is a truly representative Visayan song" ( she believes that the kundiman is a Tagalog form). Gutierrez says that in the balitaw "are embodied faith, joy, and all human activities as well as the varied hopes and values of Visayan life.  The religious beliefs of the early Cebuanos, their social relationships, their loves, friendships and enmities also find expression in the balitao. To read Gutierrez' full article, visit the following link: THE CEBUANO BALITAO AND HOW IT MIRRORS VISAYAN CULTURE AND FOLKLIFE. In her article, Gutierrez also gives a couple of examples of the balitaw in Cebuano with English translations.
