Getafe Bohol Mayor Tessie Camacho led the blessing and inauguration rites of another electrification project on February 5 in barangay Cabasakan.
According to retired Navy captain Nelson Socias, Mayor Camacho’s new spokesperson-designate, the expanded electrification project in Cabasakan, intended to cater to the needs of five more puroks covering about 70 households in the barangay, serves as augmentation of the power supply that the constituents in the area have been enjoying for many years.
It was initiated during the stint of Mayor Camacho’s husband, the late Cary Camacho, as mayor in the 90s.
Rev. Fr. Alex Auxtero, parish priest of Getafe, officiated the thanksgiving mass and the blessing ceremony for the primary power lines.
Mayor Camacho led the ceremonial switching-on of the lights, followed by the turn-over of the project from Boheco II officials to the representative of Governor Erico Aumentado, then to Second District Rep. Roberto Cajes. Then, it was turned over to the mayor, then to Cabasakan Barangay Captain Valentino Centeno.
In her speech, Mayor Camacho emphasized the value of electricity to the people of Cabasakan, how power supply can change their way of living as she challenged them to maximize the use of electricity for them to generate additional income with livelihood projects or investments- -in agri-business, small-scale industries like furniture-making, pottery, and welding where power supply is important.
Indeed, power supply can do more for people’s lives, since it serves as a requirement for progress and development of communities like barangay Cabasakan, the mayor added.
Boheco II officials led by Engr. Joseph Mosong, were also present.
