One of the most common mistakes in the salvation debate is assuming that if you reject Calvinism, you must be an Arminian.
That’s a false dichotomy.
Calvinism and Arminianism are not the only options. I can reject unconditional election, limited atonement, irresistible grace, and regeneration before faith without embracing Arminianism.
Likewise, I can affirm that Christ died for all, that the Gospel genuinely calls all people to believe, and that we are responsible for our response—while still rejecting distinctively Arminian doctrines such as prevenient grace and the loss of salvation.
Historically, Arminian theology is most closely associated with Wesleyans, Methodists, Nazarenes, Free Will Baptists, the Salvation Army, and parts of the Pentecostal/Holiness tradition.
So, “You’re not a Calvinist; therefore you’re an Arminian” simply doesn’t follow.
Rejecting Calvinism tells you what I am not. It doesn’t tell you what I am.
Let Scripture define our theology—not someone else’s theological categories.
