Shabu Pusher in Ubay Bohol Arrested
« on: February 16, 2011, 06:05:16 PM »
A violation against Republic Act No. 9165 otherwise known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Act of 2002 is set to be filed tomorrow against four drug personalities.

The arrest of the four suspects came during a series of raids conducted by the Provincial Public Safety Company last Thursday in the towns of Ubay and Inabanga.

PO2 Rolex Tamara, case investigator, said three of the four personalities who were arrested during the raid led by Police Superintendent Clarito Baja, were identified as Rey Braman Reyes from brgy Poblacion Ubay town, Pia Tacatani, 63 years old, widow, from brgy Badiang Inabanga, and Mary Anne Añasco, from brgy Cogon Inabanga town.

The fourth suspect, Expidito Lofranco, the live-in partner of Añasco, was able to elude the raiding team. However, he was included in the charge sheet.

The successful raid was armed with a search warrant issued by Judge Ermasita Masamayor of RTC Branch 52 in Talibon while the raid at the houses of Tacatani and Añasco were protected under a search warrant issued by Judge Fernando Fuentes III from RTC Branch 49.

Tamara disclosed to the Chronicle that the raiding team recovered from Reyes three sachets of positively confirmed shabu that weighed 0.05 grams. Also recovered from Tacatani were 12 sachets of positively confirmed shabu that weighed 0.28 grams.

Meanwhile, they also recovered from Añasco 6 sachets of positively confirmed shabu that weighed 0.12 grams.

"All of the sachets we recovered from them passed laboratory examination and positively confirmed as shabu", Tamara stressed.

In an exclusive interview by the Chronicle, Tacatani admitted that indeed she regularly pushes drugs in her brgy. She further said that she only got those sachets of Shabu from another big time pusher in the said place. However, she denied that she ever used shabu, considering that she is already 63 years old. Tacatani further said that she was forced to push drugs out of poverty since the illgal activity netted her monetary commission for every sale of shabu.

Meanwhile, PNP Provincial Director PS/Supt. Constantino Paul Barot Jr., disclosed to the Chronicle that the recent successful raid just proved that the arms of the law are much longer than anyone suspects.. He added that the campaign of the PNP against illegal drugs does not favor anyone.

The PNP boss, during a radio interview over dyRD vowed to attend to other information on drug trade operation in the province. During the interview over dyRD's Inyong Alagad program, Barot assured to attend to information in Loay and Valencia towns where drug pushers are doing brisk selling of shabu.

He will; verify reports that some of these drug pushers are allegedly getting the protection of some police and local officials in the areas.

Barot renewed his call to drug personalities to stop engaging in such activities because sooner or later, the long arms of the law will definitely catch them. He asked the public to text information to 0912-8089279 or 0917-3051833, PNP,s Hotlines.

"I hope that our people will continue to support the PNP in our campaign against illegal drugs because this problem can't be solved by the PNP alone," Barot concluded. (Anthony R. Aniscal)

John 3:16-18 ESV
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son (Jesus Christ), that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.
