There is a move to develop the man-made forest which attraction remains remarkable among tourists and motorists who pass by enjoying the natural cool breeze under the shade of mahogany trees planted in the 60s in both sides of the highway.
The provincial government plans to develop the man-made forest in Bilar into a more "functional" spot where tourists can do brief stop for photo sessions or coffee break under the trees.
The Provincial Tourism Council (PTC) under Chairman Lucas Nunag expressed support to the move to enhance the man-made forest while there are also suggestions to put up soft lighting effects at night.
The proposal was also voiced out by Prov'l Board Member Brigido Imboy which triggered discussions on the floor.
Prov'l Board Member Godofreda Tirol, chair of the committee on tourism will also look into the proposal together with the committee on environment of Prov'l BM Abelon Damalerio.
The discussion of said proposal carried some biodiversity concern which needs to be carefully studied coupled with the need of logistical support to realize the plan.
PTC gathered information that both Bilar and Loboc towns are interested to develop the area.
"Both towns and the provincial government would need to compare notes on how this area will be developed," according to the PTC chairman.
There is a call to submit whatever is conceptualized to a public hearing while there might be collection of fees to be involved once the project is realized.
