Ha ha!! Now you have me thinking...That I like!!
Ive never really contemplated this subject in great depth but am willing to form an opinion based on this conversation!! (Although I cant stay too long..Lots to do today)
Of course!! How could it survive otherwise?
now i cannot even deign to use my brain or whatever is left of it...
let me repeat, are you
really saying that when religion is dying, kleptocracy dies along with it? "if it could not survive otherwise", are you saying then that it is kleptocracy that makes religion live? something's askew here somewhere...
Seems to me,it requires countries with high poverty levels to survive(A bit like the Church) so I was wrong when I said "predominantly Catholic countries",sorry about that!...
the temporal church does not and could not live on poverty. like any organization, it cannot survive on nothing. it would do well to distinguish the temporal and the spiritual sides of the church as we see it. meanwhile, faith makes poverty bearable, whatever one's faith is.
The R.P has a 70% church attendance right? Now thats a huge mandate of support by the people which no Government could ignore(or ignore at their peril).. How much political power and influence that represents in real terms is anyone's guess..
percentaging in church attendance is at best an educated estimate. attendance does not a religion make. now i'm wondering how a church's political influence has gotten into our discussion...
