quite interesting indeed. Or as they put it , "The God Particle"  :D

They have research labs in major universities, most atomic spectroscopy laboratories have the basis of this technology.

An example:

They collide two atoms at the speed of light and create unfathomable amounts of energy, which produces millions of subprotons per atom smashed. I did read an article way back in regards to using this technology to fuel human ambitions to colonize new worlds; NASA has invested into this research.

I got it Lorenzo. God's wisdom and power is indeed infinite.

Scientist can only theorized that, at in the early stage of the universe, there were equal amounts of matter and antimatter. Then, annihilation occurs almost simultaneously that after a second, what remains in our present universe is all made of matter. There was asymmetry of slightly higher quantities of matter that made antimatter disappeared almost completely. This is I think creation explained in science. With this, it is very possible to create a universe in just a week. This is one of the greatest unsolved mysteries of physics.

Courtesy of my 10 year old daughter's science research.

Antimatter is currently the only known possible fuel which enables a starship to travel at near the speed of light, then to conserve fuel they will use solar sails. At this speed, a starship could reach 4-5 years to our nearest group of stars (Proxima Centauri & the binary Alpha Centauri). When a man travels at such high speed, his time slows down making him younger than his generation when he comes back to earth. These facts I think is used by the movie Avatar.

The problem is there is non of this stuff on earth except small amounts artificially created at the big doughnut particle accelerator.
#4
Pero aside from gamma ray radiation, this will be the cleanest and most efficient source of fuel because it is 100% efficient. As per CERN, a kilo of this fuel could run your car for 100,000 years non-stop or could supply electricity to the whole United States for one year.

#5
Yes folks, its not Matter but Antimatter :o. The concept fuel of the future, used by Star Trek Enterprise.

Scientists claim antimatter is the costliest material to make. In 2006, Gerald Smith estimated 250 million dollars could produce 10 milligrams of positrons (equivalent to $25 billion per gram); and in 1999 NASA gave a figure of $62.5 trillion per gram of antihydrogen. This is because production is difficult (only a few antiprotons are produced in reactions in particle accelerators), and because there is higher demand for the other uses of particle accelerators. According to CERN, it has cost a few hundred million Swiss Francs to produce about 1 billionth of a gram (the amount used so far for particle/antiparticle collisions).

Several NASA Institute for Advanced Concepts-funded studies are exploring whether it might be possible to use magnetic scoops to collect the antimatter that occurs naturally in the Van Allen belt of the Earth, and ultimately, the belts of gas giants like Jupiter, hopefully at a lower cost per gram.

Antimatter is also the most difficult to contain because when in contact with matter, both will annihilate, turning into energy in a form of gamma rays. Current use of antimatter is the PET Scanner (Positron Emission Tomography), used to detect brain tumors.

Kaliwat Bol-anon / Re: Ferniz Family of Bohol

Thanks Bran,

I have a brother in CA and perhaps he is the one you are referring to. Or if white haired, they must be under the lineage of the first US settlers as they were mixed with Irish blood. One of the 4G's is a molecular biologist like you.

Hope your doing fine with studies.

As far as I know, Ferniz is a pure blooded Boholano. We got our surnames during Spanish era for two purposes and that is to Christianize and to streamline tax collection. There are also some Ferniz surnames in Latin countries like Argentina but not related to us.

Kaliwat Bol-anon / Ferniz Family of Bohol
June 14, 2010, 04:20:02 PM
To start with, my Grandfather's name is Juan "Addo" Ferniz of Mansasa District, Tagbilaran City, Bohol. Married to Pia Dolotina of Dauis, Bohol.

Migrated to Bilar, Bohol and became the town's treasurer.

Sons and Daughters:

1. Nang Enyay (deceased) - I forgot her married surname
2. Ceriaco "Cocoy" Ferniz (deceased), former NBI and migrated to the US.
3. Anisia Ferniz Villanueva (deceased), migrated to Kidapawan & Davao
4. Teodoro Ferniz (deceased), former health inspector of Bilar, Bohol
5. Elpidio Ferniz - My Father, Cogon, Tagbilaran City.
6. Benjamin Ferniz (deceased), stayed at Bilar, Bohol

There are many Fernizes of Bohol, but I can only establish link from my grandfather's limbs and from the limbs of our relative the late Julio "July" Ferniz of Mansasa district, Tagbilaran City.

I have no idea if my grandfather has a brother or a sister.

Moreover, two of their cousins were among the first Filipinos to migrate and spread in the US during 1890's. For those who would like to read the full details, here's the link: http://tubagbohol.mikeligalig.com/blog-and-diary/my-lost-relatives-in-the-us-(ferniz-family-genealogy)/

See how people appreciate when we care about our trees: http://www.marketmanila.com/archives/a-gorgeous-tree-in-dauis
Please read also the readers feedback of this article.

Also, while people of Guindulman are cutting their century old Acacia Trees, people from other provinces are proud of their century old Acacia Trees and even building resorts around it as below

ACACIA RESORT (Anilao)

Acacia Resort is built around a century-old Acacia Tree. Experience Anilao like never before in one of 6 over-sized deluxe rooms or in one of 4 standard rooms. In the afternoon, a daily show of a spectacular sunset awaits from the view deck. Get a massage, lounge around the pool, have some drinks at our bar or simply enjoy the peace and quiet while you enjoy of our little slice of paradise.

I can help in drafting the mechanics of implementation, from the grass root levels up to the Mayor level, including sources of funding schemes, of course the planting materials. Maybe a Tripartite Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) can be executed by TB, the LGU and DENR.

All we need, is a project proposal, submit to SB and once approved by the SB, we negotiate with DENR for the provisions of planting materials.
In order to have a legal representation of the TB or a personality to enter into an agreement, there must be an AdHoc committee that serves on interim capacity to negotiate.

It is like forming a formal organization.

There is no need for credit, once the TB spearheads the campaign it is TB. Reforestation or tree planting is only one of the many service projects that TB can do should we unite ourselves.

I believe the article of Mike is more accurate because during the Spanish Era, Talibon was part of Inabanga, a metal mining town famous for its ancient blades. A famous quote in Inabangga says "During Fiestas, you can find only swords & knives in the market".

Below is a talibon sword which was used by the famous Francisco Dagohoy or Francisco Sendrijas.

It was interesting to read at first about the cutting of the trees in Guindulman.Sad and emotional to think about it.Now it is getting personal insults to some and take the fun out of the TB.There is one thing hopefully that would stop this bickering .Invite  Mayor Piezas and answer a few questions to Some members.Mayor Piezas,I double dare you to join TB and kind enough to end this issue.

This sounds a good idea Cujo.

Personally, I have nothing against the personal character of Mayor Piezas. It was her action and decision of cutting those trees that I am not in favor.

Mayor Piezas must understand that this is not politics anymore and we are not among her political adversaries that are trying to topple her party. We are just plain citizens reacting to an unethical action that she recently did. By the way, my congratulations for the landslide results.

If she is a fair person, then she should face the music here in TB to express her views or to say sorry.

Let us end this and start discussing positive ideas that could benefit us all.

Maybe... I know places just behind Alona Palm Beach where you can stay a week for their daily rate, and then also have a kitchen to do your own cooking and save even more, as you need not use a restaurant for every meal. You pay a lot for the privilege of staying directly on the beach, and their great swimming pool.

By my rough estimate, they spend over a million dollars to construct this resort, with its limited capacity, you'll need to have considerable occupancy to break even.

What puzzles me is why they are not selling the resort, if they want their capital back. Given a promising future with the new administration, a re-sale of two folds or more is possible through auction. So, perhaps health reasons is authentic and this resort might be their last refuge from a stressful city life.

I don't think it is your business to perpetrate the issue or make it a big deal and linger on it forever but you can, I guess, if you want to.

It seems that it was done with permission and consultation with proper authority. Whatever happens during the process, who are we to question that unless there is a proof that it was sanctioned illegally. As far as we are concerned, this issue is closed and resolved. Things were done with proper permit, then give it a rest.

It is not illegal if the authorities (DENR or whatever) gave the go signal. MOVE ON..!!! You have better things to take care of.

People power works only when it is absolutely necessary like Marcos' dictatorship. There was no democracy. Scholars do not recommend it because it is chaotic and things are way out of control. I was a part of people power in 1986 and I was in EDSA when I was in Manila that time and I know what it was like and how chaotic that was if you really think about it.

You cannot live in people power if you have legitimate, elected officials already like at this time. They are elected by the majority and they make decisions for the people if they benefit the majority. They might not be always right but the next elections will take care of that esp. if they run for re-elections. Do not re-elect them. Use democratic processes instead of using your mouths to "talaktak" about this forever. Unfortunately, she won again this time. She must have done more good things than bad ones and you cannot discredit that if the people like her and voted for her. That is a "no-brainer".

Remember, people power and democracy are not the same and they do not mix. The former is chaotic while the latter takes care of the chaos and maintaining peace and order. This is Political Science 101..

I think I have said enough on this issue. You guys should know this by now. HELLOO!!

ABJayoma,

Do you think the mayor or the people of Guindulman appreciates what you are doing here? If so, then give us proof.

We are for the good of Guindulman people. We dedicate our time pouring nice suggestions for Guindulman, but you are telling them it is poison.

I am not from Guindulman, but I am just a concerned observer. The good spirited people with their simplicity is what attracts me. Guindulman is the last stronghold of the Escaya Tribe. I promise to protect this culture from being diluted/extinct and prevent from being deluded by ideas from people with personal interests or to be used for politics. I hope the next generation of Escayas will value preservation, be proud of their humble beginnings and move towards better future while avoiding destructive practices brought by modernization.

So if ever I hear 10 Guindulmanons who tells me to stop and mind my own business, then I will surely stop.

Thanks Jeroen,

You are right setting aside government corruption. However, I am afraid that some powerful people in the government have already hoarded real property in anticipation of a constitutional change. It is easy to assign fictitious names for land or real property tittles.

Once this law is implemented, land prices will be sky-rocketed as land brokers will base all prices to international standards. For an average foreigner, they will find it costly and would prefer to lease than own. Worst scenario, it will be very difficult for an ordinary citizen to acquire land.

Nobody will benefit except a few.

This is one scenario that could happen if the Philippine constitution is changed allowing foreigners to acquire 100% land ownership. Forbid if that happens, then Alona and similar resorts could become a closed Private resorts. There will be a buying spree for shoreline properties among foreigners.

Why lease if you can afford one.

The issue of private/public beaches is a big one. Sometimes, there are few problems, as all the access roads lead over private property, but technically, you could use a boat to go to the public beach and enjoy it. At other times, you encounter barbed wire and armed guards, and talking helps little. Eskaya Beach resort is (under Philippine management), as I have understand from various parties, but not through my own observation, a bad offender in this regard.

I don't think it helps to start talking about deporting foreigners... they also consistently contribute to investing and _maintaining_ quality resorts that bring in guests and funds. I can fully understand the reasoning behind resorts trying to fend off parts of the beach for their customers, as sometimes hordes of people invade the beach, enjoy it with a lot of noise, and leave behind a terrible mess, which they see themselves forced to cleanup. I only do not agree with the method, which is illegal. Here really lies a task for the local government, who can zone the beaches for various purposes (quiet zone, game zone, pick-nick and party zone, boat landing zone), and enforce those rules. Sometimes Alona beach looks more like harbor, and that really distracts from its attractiveness...

I agree with you Jeroen,

Zoning is a good idea for this industry. Most of the tourist want a pristine and peaceful place to relax and that is what they came for.

Regarding the Alona Beach issue, the local government must acquire this beach and business must continue.

Dako pa kaayo ang atong foreign loans ug dili nato sayangon ang resort nga idle without revenues.
#32
This thread surprised me. I know Guindulmanons are humble and soft spoken. Not arrogant and ego freaks.

Most of them think and observe before talking and they don't talk bubbles.

Gihatagan sila sa atong government og permit to build a resort for the purpose of gaining revenue through tourism, employment and taxes.

Moreover, walay right ang beach resort nga mag restrict sa public nga gustong maligo sa beach infront of their resort.

MOVE ON PEOPLE !!!!!

You cannot go back time but you can make things better by planting more Acacia Trees in non-strategic areas which should be protected by town ordinance away from the town center or poblacion Sawang or Tabajan.

You can plant as much as 400 - 500 acacia tress and create a mini forest, hoping you can leave these trees to your children, grand children and great grandchildren. You can label this protected area somewhere in Tabunok or in Bayong or around those areas as the Guindulman Protected Forest of Acacia Trees, then this might develop intro a tourist attraction for the town of Guindulman (or it will be a city by that time) in more than one hundred years from now.

Somebody has to procure this land for such purpose by a private person or company, or the municipal or national government.

Good idea. When can we start.

I believe some mountains of Guindulman are government owned. Road sides and schools are government owned too.

Based on this scenario I see the Traditional Economy expanding, but the Real Economy of Guindulman is in regress. Why, because eventually, it is the whole population of Guindulman who will bear the cost of this Building, may it be cash or loan.

Indirectly, it is the consumers who are paying the rents and taxes of this Dayo Department Store who would simply pass these overhead expenses to their margins.

The good side is convenience. The bad side is propagation of consumerism and the demise of Local Entrepreneurs who are actually the main machinery that runs the Real Economy. Progress of the local entrepreneurs is progress of the town they are residing.

This is a microcosm of what is happening to the Philippine Economy where foreign investors came and enjoy tremendous gains. They are using our resources and infrastructures that we have acquired as foreign loans. They may generate employment, pay taxes, but then again they will pass these expenses to the margins of their products. Of course these companies will win because they have the power, influence and money. Adding the factor of our colonial mentality, our local companies and products stands no chance.

If this market is truly built for progress of Guindulman town, a majority of space must be reserved in favor of Local Entrepreneurs, reinforced with industrial/entrepreneurial training and long-term-low-interest loan grants.

Once again, traditional economy is expanding, but real economy is in regress unless the cost of the building is fully paid and the town is debt-free.

The bottom line: Powerful, Rich and influential few runs this country and interests of the masses are often neglected.

Base sa litrato nga gi-post, the concept and criteria of the design of the Public Market is similar to a typical Commercial Shopping Mall, which is neat, modern and nice looking structures in fairness. But the disadvantages are the operating and maintenance cost which will be so high.
The most expensive maybe is the operation cost like electricity to run the centralized air-conditioning system (hope it has one) and to generate power needed for the building. Which I guess 80% to 90% mga taga-Guindulman.

Daghang salamat Engr. Bob sa imong tampo.

Ako bitaw ni nga gi share nga topic sa among grupo sa PICE Eastern Province ug ang ilang sugyot sa pinaka the best design is dome or pyramid shaped skeletal design using I-beams & tension wire. Kini nga design is using less materials & cost compared to reinforced concrete one. The dome shape will also ensure stability and has aerodynamic properties incase of typhoon. the cover of the dome will be light PVC which is also durable and cheap.

Ako pod ni gi share sa among adviser nga si Illac Diaz para iyang suggestions since he is an advocate of using indigenous local material para minos gastos.

I can not die a martyr.

For my country's sake, I would rather die fighting if trapped, but not as a prisoner or a martyr. Of course if there is a way to escape, then I would not be foolish enough to do a kamekaze.

I have had enough of my time and I will fight for my children's freedom, but not for any senseless war.

My uncle (mother's brother) was one of those who die a martyr at the death march during WWII. He was one of the beheaded. I owe him this freedom.

ang merkado sa una, para nako, may juy kinasaktuhan. sama pananglitan sa Baclayon, open space unya multi-purpose. i know maot ang sa Baclayon, pero sa pagka-practical ug maintenance costs, unsa may ikasaway?

Sakto ka Jig because a market does not need a sophisticated building. Remember, trading was born on the rugged terrain of the 'Silk Route' and on the rough seas of the 'spice route'. People defy dangerous elements for the sake of better value.

Guindulman - Bohol / Re: Guindulman Public Market
May 25, 2010, 07:11:38 PM
Wa man lagi lami.

Ang design cubical which is not appropriate for public market. Ang public market should be an open place with less walls and more stalls so buyers could move around freely. There should be lots of free space for vendors to post their advertisements and banners and it should be visible for the public from all corners. A market should only be at ground level with high roofing for better ventilation, contrary to the mayors claim of a multi storey building.

Sa iyang design walay ventilation. Dili lusot lusot ang hangin ug mag kinahanglan pa kini ug air-conditioning units, which is again a burden of the town.

Wake up kung kinsa ang nag suggest ani nga market. We are not in the northern hemisphere but in a tropical country.

Kung ako ang pa designon ug public market, it should look like a dome with no walls around so the cool breeze from the sea and natural light could come in, minimizing the use of electricity.

This is not a practical design for a public market. After all unsa man ang purpose sa building, comfort to the eye or comfort to the shopping public. This design could give more favor to big entrepreneurs nga dunay ika rent sa pwesto, driving away small vendors who can only afford a square meter of space.

Unsa man ang mga facilities ani nga merkado? Kung kalibangon ta, duna bay hinlo nga kasilyas? Mao man ni ang importante.

Also, duna ba kini "Waste Disposal System (solid or liquid)" asa man paingon ang waste water ani nga mercado? Sa akong pag too diretso sa dagat as pollutant. Naa ba ni water treatment or septic tank before disposing the water to the sea?

4. The tourism could start small and can snowball if managed correctly....there must be some skill that Guindulmanuns are very good at. Maybe embroidered pillowcases ? or basketweaving ? Pottery ? Anything that could be equated like Jagna and Calamay or Muron and Tubigon, or even Ubay and Carabao Milk. Maybe someday, it will be Guindulaman and.....

Alycxs, it will be Guindulman and autographed black pebbles (autographed by world class boxers). As I've said earlier, Boxers are the only product of Guindulman ever since; seriously.

A boxing institute could be built in the middle of nature. What else could invigorate the body but pure oxygen from trees.

TO ALL BOHOLANOS WHO DEARLY LOVE THEIR HOMELAND

I am calling on all of you who cherish our rich socio-cultural heritage, a God-given gift taken care of by our forebears and handed down to us, to help me in a cause to preserve them and protect them from myopic and egocentric public officials.

The case at hand is the infamous ACACIA MASSACRE in the historic town of Guindulman. These century-old trees were cut down by local officials for a ridiculous reason: to give a visual display of a new public market that supposedly is a major accomplishment for these sitting officials.

I am a native of that place, and all of my grandparents, my father and mother and all of my loved ones who have gone before me are buried in that place which I call my hometown. I will also rest my weary soul in that town and hope to the join my foregone folks among the green grass of my homeland.

What happened to the trees in Guindulman could happen anywhere in Bohol and this generation and the next will never see them again. We could not just close our eyes and fold our arms in surrender against public officials who were elected in the guise as servants of the people. It has come to fore that these officials take the public office and the public trust as something of a POWER that they can use to impose their capricious will. As a member also of the print and broadcast media, I cannot allow these. I am sure true blooded Boholanos share the same sentiment that I do.

I may cry a river in the things happening all around us today but that could not help. This wanton disregard of our historic past must be stopped.

I am to file administrative and criminal cases against these officials and authorities of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) who conspired in these unlawful acts.

Your moral support will be my strength that will lift me up to go on. Perhaps, if not now, our children and the next generation will remember us, that we made all efforts to prepare a better world for them in their time.

Hope to hear from you all. So help me God!

Thanks wolf, I believe the best project for a historical town like Guindulman is preservation of historical sites, artifacts and buildings including century old trees. The idea of commercial/industrial progress is out of place.

Before its too late, someone must pass a zoning law for the entire province of Bohol. This will prevent conflict between industrial development and eco-cultural industry.

The best thing for Guindulman is to build a museum to entice tourists and balikbayans. Make the place pleasant, perhaps by making another man-made forest and resurrecting Guindulman's ancient reputation of having lush foliage.

Waa jud ko magdaku sa Guindulman. Nahi-uli mi sa among pamilya 15 years old ko si Inday 2 years old. Anha mi mang-lingkod kon reses, mangaon ug binangkal , usahay galang-galang nga adunay latik, usahay binignit.
Anha pod mi magpalandong kon maghulat ug trak, MB o St Jude padolong sa Tagbilaran.
Our present Mayor did have had the same experience like me.  I keep on wondering why on earth she decided to cut them all.

Mibalik ako kay gimingaw kanimo (mura man ug kanta).

To all OFW's, I salute you!

For the sake of curiosity akong nakita kini nga website mentioning the name of Mayor Piezas: http://www.bohol-philippines.com/guindulman.html

Pila kaha ka tuig kanang loan mabayran for a small town like Guindulman.

I am not from Guindulman pero I am concerned being a tax payer and and a contributor that keeps our economy afloat (the OFW).

This message is also for the future Mayors of Guindulman.

Moreover, I have not seen serious efforts of preservation in this town like preserving the culture of the Escaya and the recent cutting of century old Acacia trees. There should be an Escaya Heritage Center in this town which is open for tourists.

If you are gearing for tourism industry, you better do it.

#77
Lets set aside politics.

Nahimo naman gyud ni nga issue kining pagputol sa Acacia ug dili man ni butang nga puedeng ibalik kay kinabuhi man ni nga gipatay. So, ang akong tambag ni Mayor Piezas nga iyang angkonon iyang fault ug mopadayag siya ug public apology for her mistakes (kung intentional for the ego or in good fate for public safety, siya lang ang nakahibalo - honesty na lang). I think this will clean her name.

During the 1900's up to 20's my grandfather the late Rufino Sarmiento was a 'kapatas' (foreman) of a survey team that paved the way to construct major roads of Bohol. My late grandmother told me that it was my grandfather's initiative being superstitious to replace fallen trees with Acacia Trees planted beside the new road they built.

I believe those were one of my grandfather's trees. Those were sacred to me.

Akong nahibaw-an pod sa una mga 10 years back nga some of the Acacia trees sa Loboc giputol sa taga Boheco.

First oxygen-free animals found
By Patrick Jackson
BBC News

The creatures are covered in a thick, protective layer or lorica

Scientists have found the first animals that can survive and reproduce entirely without oxygen, deep on the floor of the Mediterranean Sea.

The team, led by Roberto Danovaro from Marche Polytechnic University in Ancona, Italy, found three new species from the Loricifera group.

He told BBC World Service they were about a millimetre in size and looked like jellyfish in a protective shell.

"We plan to go back and see if there are new surprises for us," he added.

One of the three new Loriciferans (so-called because of their protective layer, or lorica) has already been officially named Spinoloricus Cinzia, after the professor's wife.

The other two, currently designated Rugiloricus and Pliciloricus, have still to be formally described.

They were discovered in the course of three oceanographic expeditions conducted over a decade in order to search for living fauna in the sediment of the Mediterranean's L'Atalante basin.

The basin, 200km (124 miles) off the western coast of Crete, is about 3.5km (2.2 miles) deep and is almost entirely depleted of oxygen, or anoxic.

Eggs included

Bodies of multicellular animals have been found previously in sediment taken from an anoxic area - or "dead zone" - of the Black Sea, Professor Danovaro told BBC News. But these were believed at the time to be remains of organisms which had sunk there from adjacent oxygenated areas.

What the team found in the L'Atalante dead zone was three species of living animals, two of which contained eggs.

Although it was not possible to extract the animals alive in order to show that they could live without oxygen, the team was able to incubate the eggs in anoxic conditions aboard on the ship.

The eggs hatched successfully in a completely oxygen-free environment.

"It is a real mystery how these creatures are able to live without oxygen because until now we thought only bacteria could do this," said Professor Danovaro, who heads Italy's Association of Limnology (the study of inland waters).

"We did not think we could find any animal living there. We are talking about extreme conditions - full of salt, with no oxygen."

The discovery of the new Loriciferans represents, he said, a "tremendous adaptation for animals which evolved in oxygenated conditions".

Dead zones in the world's oceans, he added, were expanding all the time.

Commenting in the journal BMC Biology, Lisa Levin of the Scripps Institution of Oceanography said that before this discovery, "no one had found [animals] capable of living and reproducing entirely in the absence of oxygen".

"Loriciferans are rarely reported," she noted.

"Whether they were overlooked or are exceedingly rare and thus not sampled is unclear. Perhaps scientists have been looking for them in all the wrong places."

Considering the implications of creatures which can exist without oxygen, she said that greater study of animal-microbe interactions in the extreme environment of Earth's oceans could help answer questions about the possibility of life existing on other planets with different atmospheres.

A pornographic magazine for the blind has been launched - complete with explicit text and raised pictures of naked men and women.

Among the 17 raised images include a naked woman in a 'disco pose', a woman with 'perfect breasts' and a 'male love robot'  Photo: Lisa Murphy

The book, the brainchild of Lisa Murphy and called Tactile Minds, is designed to be 'enjoyed' by the blind and visually impaired - and is on sale for £150.

Among the 17 raised images include a naked woman in a 'disco pose', a woman with 'perfect breasts' and a 'male love robot'.

Canadian Lisa says that she made the book to fill a gap in the market, adding: "There are no books of tactile pictures of nudes for adults.

"We're breaking new ground. Playboy has an edition with Braille wording, but there are no pictures."

She said that she made the book after realising that the 'blind have been left out in a culture saturated with sexual images'.

Between 1970 and 1985 Playboy printed copies of its famous magazine in braille - but without raised pictures.

General Topic / Re: Vodka benefits

So kung dunay Tequilla nga made in Philippines, dili na tinood nga Tequilla.

Dili pod ko mo too nga wala nay NPA.

So buot pasabot, sila ang successful.

Personal Blog.

On 26th and 27th of November 2009, I will take my board exams at Al Khobar, Saudi Arabia. I am Macky Ferniz, age: 44, graduated BS Civil Engineering, October 1987 from the University of Bohol, 22 years from now.

To those who do not know, this explains my long silence at Tubag Bohol.

After graduation and being un-licensed, I worked as assistant to the resident Engineer at an Asian Development Bank funded project to renovate all buildings and infrastructures of Bilar Agricultural College (BAC). After two years the project was completed.

For the record, all structures survived without-a-scratch from the earthquake of 1989 at magnitude 5.7.

After the project, I became a “misfit of profession” doing sales, delivery, marketing, advertising & even laborer in various establishments of Tagbilaran City. In 1991, I went to Saudi Arabia as an OFW. This is with the help of my relatives who were already established in Saudi Arabia. That time was the height of Gulf War when Saddam Hussein invaded Kuwait and then liberated by the US led coalition. We witnessed Scud Missiles vs. Patriot Missiles colliding in mid-air with huge explosions that rocked our villas almost every night.

Here in Saudi Arabia I spent almost quarter of a century, working in marketing & distribution company and continued being a “misfit of profession”. Since mathematics is more advanced in engineering than in any field of education, I was assigned in all math related jobs such as forecasting, estimating, costing, P&L, statistics…etc and now I managed the International Purchasing Department (import/export).

In September this year, I heard that Board Exams will be conducted in our locality under SPLBE program of PRC. Since then I was enticed of this great challenge to take the exams in foreign land after 22 years. With a very limited time, I started recalling engineering subjects such as concrete/steel design, strength of materials, hydraulics/design of dams/spillways, mechanics (physics), math/analytic geometry, calculus (differential & integral)…etc. After 22 years, engineering is now out of my mind (just a dot in my gray matter) except for mathematics. Somehow, it is true that long-term memory is mysterious to the extent that I am able to visualize my UB instructors writing the formulas at the black board.

Having limited capability Vs. huge challenge, I considered this endeavor as an adventure, expedition & a quest.

However, besides my family, from your friendship I draw the confidence, strength, hope, inspiration and I have nothing, but only this.

Herewith my sincere thanks to your prayers and best wishes for my success.

Macky Ferniz

Good news: After the exams, I can rock n roll at Tubag Bohol.

Bohol Latest News / Re: Cebu-Bohol Bridge: Update
October 24, 2009, 05:48:38 AM

Kung madayon ni, ma break nato ang world record sa the longgest bridge in the world.

Una, mas duol ang Negros to Cebu compared to Bohol and Cebu. Secondly, in terms of economy, mas unlad ang Negros compared to Bohol. So ang bridge between Negros and Cebu yields more productivity sa commerce.

Posibly lang ang Bohol Cebu Bridge kung mahimo ang Pilipinas nga usa sa mga State sa US. Pero sa akong pag-too, bisan ang US would think this bridge is too extravagant for a small economy like Bohol and Cebu.

Ako na kining gi sulayan ug calculate, pero bisan unsaon ug bale-bale, dili worth ug extravagant ra kaayo. Atong bulsa ra gihapon mag suffer long-term para sa gamay lamang nga convenience nga atong ma benefit.

Wala kay mahimo kay ang atong constitution clearly says that " Nobody can be imprisoned because of Debt".

The best thing to do if your debt is in a catastrophic proportion is to ask for a realistic, easy-pay, long-term, restructured payment scheme.

Incase you are harassed by any establishment or bank for your loan, seek protection from an attorney or write to the central bank incase it is a bank.

Para sa mga gi utangan:
Kung legal inyong transaction; i.e. dunay prima ang nakautang, seek for a legal assistance.

This is interesting to read.

If I may ask, Mr. Ferniz, can you provide me the link to this article as I would like to read the entire paper, if not the name of the book/journal so one may research this.

Thanks.

Bran,

I was busy reviewing my Integral and Differencial Calculus and yesterday I did Hydraulics (Design of Dam, Dikes and spillways) para dili na mobaha.

Then I was tempted to open TB. I miss you guys!

Just a quick note before I get back to my review...

About this topic, since we consider ourselves as descendants of Rajah Sikatuna, then we are close relatives of the Sultanate of Sulu & Brunei, which gives us the right to claim Sabah, Malaysia.

Think about it...
