To fellow Carolinians,
Mura man ug wala ko kadungog ug pakpak sa balita nga ang atong ALMA MATER is one of the TOP 20 UNIVERSITIES in the Philippines.  Yahooooooo.

Hi Bams,
Flattering kaayo ang imong interest to meet me in person... but since I am not anymore planning to be a full-time OFW starting June 2008, we got a lot of chances to meet in Bohol since I would be engaging in business ( events management, consultancy and outsourcing ) in Tagbilaran & Cebu.  Sugod karong tuiga, ako na mangunay o volunteer to organize kon duna pay daghang mga EBs nga mosunod.

As said, gitawag lang nako ni nga TB GRAND EB because am sure mas dako ni sa mga previous nga EB where it was only attended by fewer numbers.  ( If you remember in previous thread when I just joined TB back in July, I offered for a Tour of Bohol for Free (dili apil ang pamasahe sa eroplano ha? LOL ) , and this event is part of the Grand EB activity ).
#812

Mga Sano, Migas, Migos:

It is just a matter of technical term " GRAND ".  Why am calling it GRAND because what we have in the past were in smaller numbers.  Should you expect to use the term GRAND with the presence of all representatives from around the world, then we could the next EBs after the July 2008 Grand EB as Mega or as you wish... ( Sakto ka Els / St. Agnes ).

We could organize TB EB bigger every year until we reach 2011 ( am sure magkadako gyod ang TB ).
#813

Julai, nothing to worry about bisan gamay.  The important thing is you have that enthusiam leading to financial literacy.  Financial literacy comes in the power of numbers...bisan ginagmay basta daghan ta, we could achieve what we aspire for...

Bol-anon Ko, thanks for your interest... certainly am counting you to be part of the group.  It's nice to be with people who have the same passion... through outsourcing we could help a lot of people.  It is not only helping we can bring that change by embedding "quality" to them thereby having that "world-class concept" infectious to them.  Should you have special concerns, you could send PM to me. Looking forward to hear from you and would appreciate if you could define your areas of priorities...

Why we called this eye ball among TB members a GRAND one ( GRAND EB ) because we used to do fragmented groups in smaller scale.  Since dunay mo-organize where participation on a bigger and wider concept, we call this GRAND EB. Kay mouli naman ko sa June pohon, I am giving one month preparation to make this event successful.  Hence, this is announced in advance aron makaplano ang majority, if ever it is not possible for the others to participate then sa sunod na lang nga ginagmay EB.  But am sure this gathering among TB is wider, grander among the EBs in the past.
#816

Thought there is teamwork among our officials.  How could we expect the others to behave?  There is no other way but to resolve... someone must mediate as not to look inconsistent in public.
#817

Hi Benellyne,

Will be looking forward to meet you this coming GRAND EB, which will also coincide on my business launching during this period.  And with your idea in mind, I would say that we could still relate and could translate this into a promising business relationship.

I would be engaging into events management, professional consultancy and outsourcing ( which include training and other human resources related endeavors ).

Capitalizing on your network in Japan, we could promote Bohol tourism and at the same time learning English through our business outfit.  I've got a network of training providers (world-class / international competencies ) which would not be difficult for us to establish.

If you heard about what Dubai is doing? then we could do it here in Bohol and could start with Japanese, Chinese and even Arabs.  We could promote a package of sort ... an educational tour ( business, pleasure and learning... ).

We could explore more on this.  Am inviting you to be a partaker on one of the services available in the due-to-be launched business outfit.  I've been preparing this concept two years back.  The thing is, we have to get on board with tourism and diversify...

It's true Lindy, some of the crimes have historical facts....for one way or another some pains were inflicted in the past whether directly or indirectly.  Though probably there was no intention to inflict pain, but the receiver has some problems as to his/her perception; hence, they were not able to relate / adapt such change or concept... and opt have his own limited thinking...

Introduce Yourself / Reply: WHO AM I?
January 31, 2008, 12:47:45 AM

I believe that from the time I've posted this thread up to this very minute, we have known more of ourselves... if you haven't, the Leonard Personality Inventory of Professor Dr. Leonard M S Yong could help you for deeper understanding about yourself.  It is the process of Self-Awareness and enhancing your Emotional Intelligence.
#825

With more than 2 years to go for the election, we have ample time to educate ourselves, to reconcile questions, to look for meaning, to cultivate and inspire others who have the vision that matched to our outlook and not advocating vote buying.

We should give more emphasis on the platform / agenda, the competencies to execute and leadership abilities.  And while in the process of mapping out these people, we hope that those aspirants have that noble vision of serving the people / community and not for their own interests.
#826

It's time to revisit this thread after so many holidays.... Just recently a friend of mine who was based in Saudi for 5 years went home and provided information about the business climate in Bohol and Tagbilaran in particular.  What prevails presently or existing in Tagbilaran is an indicator or would like to spell out that Bohol business is improving though most of the entrepreneurs are not really from the province.  So with the downturn of the money/currency exchange, murag panahon na nga manguli ta and venture into something that would sufficiently sustain our requirements if the disparity of income while working overseas is just too narrow.

Ligiah, you are most welcome to join.  Nindot man sad ni iuli sa atoa kay Sandugo Festival man earlier of the weeks.

Bran Lorenzo, don't worry bisan daghan, we will accommodate everybody on this occasion.  That is why this is posted earlier so we could organize and execute the plans realistically.  I don't want to have it on the last minute where the volume could not be determined.

We have to 4 -5 months to prepare and expect this to be suitabe and rewarding to most if not all.

Yes Els, Tour Bus ang i-rent ani nga occasion.  Am anticipating nga dili paigo ang usa ka Airconditioned Bus kay daghan man nga mga bisita aning panahona where most of them have confirmed their attendance.  Hence, am in the lookout for airconditioned buses to rent in Cebu if not available in Bohol. However, we could utilize some vehicles from relatives and friends for this occasion but it is more appropriate to have 2-3 tourist buses and go to these spots in a caravan / bandwagon.

For the meals, definitely it would be catered either in packed meals or we could arrange for a stop where catered food would be served in hot servings.

Am sure I would be needed some assistance from volunteers who are based in Bohol or Cebu; and have in mind to hire part timers (staff) for this event.

lisod nang mag-build-up kay magdumot naman ka ana.  by then, wala na kay peace of mind, and unknowingly makabuhat ka ug dautan bisan wala tuyoa that you would regret... when we inflict pain, it will backfire to us. so, the best thing is to take it lightly, rationalize why one acted that way and understand fully regardless of its irrationality to some extent... by then you have a peace of mind, free of worries.

Just continue pouring your ideas and I am taking down notes on them.  Why I've posted the date?  aron maka prepare na mo sa inyong flight bookings.  Rest assured, this GRAND EB event would be one of a kind and one of a lifetime event.

Hi Blue Angel,

In few days, I will be announcing the fixed date of the TB GRAND EB this July.  It is only scheduled, but am still finalizing the itinerary... once I will post.. at least completo na... so everybody could prepare for that date.

Duol na...
#838

Grazie,
Nice to hear nga duol ra mo dinha ni Ms da Binsi sa akong Mama ug sister sa Union City.  Kon moadto unya mo didto dapita, sultihi unya ko aron makavisit mo sa balay nila...it would be pleasure for them to meet both of you.

Bran Lorenz,
Sus baskog pa gyod akong Mama bisan 76 na kay anad man sa trabaho, dili mahimotang kon walay buhaton.  Would you imagine, she was travelling alone from the USA to the Philippines (back and forth) 2 yrs ago at the age of 74? Dili man gani mosakay sa wheel chair when embarking from the plane to the airport.

Buyag baya tawon akong Mama.

Lipay kaayo ko nga dunay napost nga pictures during the town fiesta.  Bisan kahibalo ko nga bibo kuno karong fiestaha compared sa una labina na nga duha na ka tuig nagkuyog ang parish ug ang lungsod gobyerno.

My younger sister Daisy who accompanied the incumbent Congressman Jala in handing the crown of this year's Miss Anda told me nga nindot ug bibo gyod. (kon nitan-aw mo programa popareho mi ug nawong sa akong manghod, mga intsekon ).

Among the pictures nga gipost dinhi, kaila man ko sa usa (the photo with the sea at the background ) si Tara o Tarsing man to who is based in the Netherlands ba to? Niuli diay... kinsa man diay kaila ninyo? si Orchids? si Southpearl? si Blue Angel?

Pohon manguli unya ta ug dungan ha?

Yes Bran Lorenz, tinood gyod na.  Ako ganing Mama who just turned 76 last Jan. 22 nananghid na nga mouli gyod kuno siya sa Pinas ( she is based now in Union City with my sis and nephews ).  Maayo gyod kuno nga naa sa atoa kaysa laing nasod.

Pohon magkita ta sa July this year with our families... Just let me know if you need some assistance...

I believe the Retirement Homes planned in Baclayon are intended for expats who could afford.  With the currency exchange... they could spend them well here in the Phils. than in their own country.

Here they could afford to hire as many helpers to take care of them while in their country they will not have the luxury of having similar treatment as what we have here...

in every undertaking there is an exception of course...when I used the word "impersonalism", this refers to the trend though there are exceptions.

#845

Why Philippines is attractive for expats as a retirement haven it is because of our culture of sincere domesticated service and loyalty for someone who has helped in one way or another....ang tawag ana "mounong".

In the west, it is full of IMPERSONALISM.. kon wala nakay gamit or ayo, ignored ka or neglected. pero dinhi matigulang na ka unya maayo ang imong kinaiya mounong gyod nimo hangtod ta molangyaw sa laing kalibutan.

Anticipating success of any festival has something to do with leadership abilities of the organizers and concerted efforts from all sectors both from government and non-government entities and the public as a whole.  If we want Sandugo Festival a GRAND ONE and a BIG SUCCESS.. it requires HUGE SUPPORT in terms of  financial backing, sufficient research, sincere dedication and WORLD CLASS ideas....

With the efforts spent by the Cebu organizers in the Sinulog, they deserved for praise.

Sex trade is everywhere...but what made those countries that condone thre practice is that they made in legal... so everything is in order.  One cannot get away with it in a country that wants to have its tourism industry flourish.  You cannot find any place in the world where there is no prostitute.

In Bahrain, the prominents are coming from the Eastern Bloc countries of Europe , some Russians.  In the Netherlands, you can choose all nationalities in the Red District near the Central Station; in Colombo Sri Lanka - the Russians and Chinese are everywhere in the hotels, even in the streets of Rome...

So why can't we expect this to happen here?

Condolence to the bereaved family.

May the men and women of the same conviction as the late Atty. Cambangay rise and multiply so we could have that spirit lives on even with his absence.
#857

There are a lot of things to talk about on this topic.... many threads of similar tones had sprouted on this forum in the past... the perception of one depends on his/her orientation and outlook in life...it is not a matter of belief or conviction, practice or tradition.

Survival in life's existence does not lie on who is the fittest, smartest, most intelligent but the one who easily adapt and manage change.

Change evolves as time flies; culture replaces others; belief enhances and so on... It is not about religion...  Look at Spain that planted Christianity in the Phils... they are one of the few nations that advocates same sex marriage...look at Rome, Italy where the Eternal City, Vatican situated where its avenues surrounded by prostitutes...the Netherlands ruled by Christian orientations existed as the most liberated country in the world...  are they of the same category as ours?

Whether you are heterosexuals or homosexuals, everyone has its own imperfections...There are only two types of human being .. the BAD and the GOOD.

#858

am looking forward nga ang atong Sandugo Festival will be on the same level as what Sinulog has attained.  nothing will be impossible if we will work united...Congratulations to the Sinulog organizers...you will be the benchmark for Sandugo Festival.
#859

Hi Leo,

Thanks for keeping us updated .... Kumusta naman ka?  Hope you're at your best always...
#860

Hi Ligiah and Lindy,

Sorry I was out for a while...hence, wasnt able to notice your post.

There are societies that practiced the culture of "dowry" in India & SouthEast countries, the women give the dowry to the groom; in Muslim countries, the men gives dowry to their brides.

In the past, when marriage is arranged and no courtship, one cannot expect to have that "love" between the couple.  But in the present days, with the emergence of communication technology (cellphones with videos/cameras) the manner of courtship has been enhanced even the culture of arranged marriage prevails.

Ergo, at the present time, a dowry is only an instrument to manifest a practiced tradition ( whether a dowry is small or big ) it symbolize their belief.

However, even in our modern times, this dowry is represented by the savings and wealth the bride and the groom had prepared to make their lives and marriage in order, successful and worry free without the interventions of families and outside parties...  more....
#861

Hi Els Happy Birthday... all the best for you...my mom's birthday almost the same date  ( Jan. 22 ).

May all your beautiful dreams come true....
#862

I really admire people who are true and honest to themselves and to others about their purpose and direction in life...and most, I admire for their abilities to communicate and let the other understand and accept for what they are, and make life mutually rewarding to both of them.

In life, it is give and take...it is not only in money you get paid, it is thru service, thru loyalty...and thru prayers... but above all, there is joy in giving when you give it with compassion.

Hence, in marriage, it is friendship with mutual understanding and it is how two persons nurture that common understanding and there is no way for the other to complain except when there is a hidden motive from the start...
#863

Are we for popularity or competency????
#864

Di ba Bran Lorenz? If we compare the culture of Filipinas and Whites marrying wealthy men... whom do you think is more genuine????
#865

To those who would like to enhance entrepreneurial skills and explore more what the world can offer.... I would recommend to read the amazing book of Tom Peters " DESIGN ".
#866

Mr. Ben,

The feeling is mutual... the less priveleged also felt uncomfortable mingling with the wealthy... but one must not complain that Filipinas marry for the Money for Expats marry Pinays for Service till death whom they could seldom find with their own color... when no money.... no honey. hehehe

For Preciousnepolite, I admired your being brutally frank / straightfordness but frowned on your one-sidedness and hypocrisy...the trend is not prevalent in the Philippines but all over the world... it is the same story but different manifestations...

It is our culture of a close knit family and not disintegration like in the west because of impersonalism.  When you marry one... you cannot evade extended familities... when you support the whole clan it is your choice... it is not mandatory

But one thing for sure... the expats loved to be idolized... to be put in a pedestal... when you are whites, the natives feel you're special... and your way of returning is through your wallet... ang uban man gud hambogero sad.

And why complain??? It is a fact that some of those who married Filipinas are after of sincere domesticated service that they could find with their own race...seldom!  and when you treat your wife to be that... how you manifest your thanks when you are priveleged? di ba sa kwarta?  ug ngano nga magtihink man ka kon duna.???

About the women having illicit affairs? these could be boiled down to some shortcomings , imperfections that came to marriage which are also happening not only in the Philippines.

There are a lot more....bisan tinood , one must speak the other truth and not for your the part that favors....

Nindot gyod ang mga lugar, mga pictures... pero aron macompleto ang pagkanindot sa Bohol ... kinahanglan nindot gyod ang batasan sa Bol-anon.  We have to spread the beauty of Bohol not only on its sceneries but on its people.

If Bohol is serious in promoting tourism as its prime industry... then we have to embed that feeling of ownership and accountability to each and every Boholano... nga whatever he / she projects / displays will reflect what Bohol is all about.

By then, we could entice the whole world to come and see Bohol and feel the difference..

The scenario of young kids drinking is not only prevalent in the Philippines but anywhere...How these young girls got to know or learn such lifestyle??? di ba from the liberated Western nations... as seen from movies, videos, all forms of visuals...

You could see hypocrisy everywhere...grabe seguro kon mosunod ang mga batan-on of what being practiced in the Netherlands ( Amsterdam ), dili lang in-ani....
