CAROLINIANS - BOHOL CHAPTER

Started by junayag, July 31, 2007, 01:23:26 AM

Previous topic - Next topic

junayag

Having been an alumnus of the University of San Carlos had added value to my quest for success and am sure that this is also true to my fellow Bol-anons who hailed from the same alma mater.

Though coming from a reputable school or university does not guarantee success but it has an edge over the rest when taken categorically.

As I haven't heard of a Carolinian ( USC Alumni Asso. ) in Bohol like in other provinces and cities abroad, am urging fellow Carolinians to start the fire in creating a venue for camaraderie and for creating a noble vision not only for our school but to the community we live in.

Macky Ferniz

Jun,

Akong mama is a Carolinian scholar. They were the first batch for Major in Home Economics.

Your idea of a reunion for Boholano Carolinians is a good one. This would be a first one in Bohol if realized.

hazel

I would love to join the reunion Jun!

-<GEC348>-

Some carolinians I know:

1. Atty.Marlumina Bernaldez-Te, Dean UB College of Law
2. Atty. Thaddeus Jose Acero, Legal Officer V, Provincial Legal Office
3. Dr. Patrick John Lim (BNHS '87 alumnus), Asst. Dean, USC Chemistry Dept.
4. Mandolin T. Regis, City Hall
This smacks of a grand conspiracy to hide the non-existent, to identify the nameless, to paint a picture of the unseen. -- Benelynne

It's too early yet to talk about reunion... but it is nice to start with a group  that has common denominator, by then, we have to think BIG....

junayag

G@Len

mura ubay2x man tngali, pero mostly wla sa bohol or sa pinas... naa ko mga ka-batch pero naa sad sa manila.

junayag

galen,
would appreciate to have your list sa imong nahibaloan aron sad maka start ta ug initiating a bohol chapter.

di ba karon bulana ang University Day sa USC?

hazel

3rd week of August ang Foundation week.

junayag

ginger, carolinian sad ka?  nagpalifetime member naba ka?

hazel

yes...pero wala pako nagpa lifetime member!

junayag

I remember nga ako pa ang ng Head sa Parade Committee, that was in 1979 ( with float contest )....

hazel

lingaw pud baya! sa main man ka di ba? nice na ang buildings sa amo time unya airconditioned na ang mga rooms...

ang ako gika mingawan, ang mag standby sa round tables (beside sa covered walk and DYRF)....karon gi himu-an na ug internet cafe.

junayag

are you sure nga maglingkod lang sa round tables?  enjoy ka na mag boywatching no?

hazel

junayag

hazel

ambot kaha karon ug amigo na ba ang taga Main ug taga TC...mura raba iring ug iro ang Commerce ug Engineering.

junayag

siempre ang mga gwapa naa man sa main unya ang mga gwapo naa sa talamban. paartehan man, unya magnilabanay man.

hazel

hoy ayaw intawon sad daug dauga ug tan aw ang mga pokpok nga tinuod nga estudyante, kay wala baya tawon makahibalo nganong nisulod sila, at least it is for a noble purpose.  pero kadtong mga pokpok gyod nagpa arong ingnon nga estudyante, grabe dili sila karespetohan, nakadaut lang sa eskwelahan.  tanang mang school dunay mga pokpok!!!

hazel

As what I've heard adto na sila sa restobars mag negotiate...

junayag

But one thing for sure sa USC, she is the home of the best...(halos lahat ng category) students.

sometime in 2000, dili gihapon close ang commerce ug engineering ;D

junayag

what is good with the guys in the TC campus, they're really intelligent compared with other colleges kay ang requirements sa entrance test o qualifying exams should not be below 90% unlike the rest 50* okay lang. Didto mga smart ang disposition in general.  Mosugot ba ana nga benchmarking?

hazel

oh! I still go for the ruggedly handsome TC boys!

In relation to this topic thread:

Seven of this year’s eight Most Outstanding Alumni Awardees were feted by Carolinians Inc., the alumni association of all USC graduates, as hundreds of other alumni from various places in the country and abroad---including a large delegation from the Carolinians of Surigao, Inc. and Carolinians Midwest USA---came to attend the 2007 USC Grand Alumni Homecoming.

The seven were Philip Ngai Tan (B.S. in Business Administration) for entrepreneurship; Archt. Socorro B. Atega (B.S in Architecture, Magna cum laude) for landscape architecture; Judge Marilyn L. Yap (Bachelor of Laws), for law and justice; Dir. Prudenciana C. Cruz (B.S.E. major in Library Science) for library science; Engr. Ernesto Codina (B.S. in Mechanical Engineering) for aeronautics and space flight engineering; Arlene Donaire (A.B. in Economics) for environmental advocacy; and Arnulfo Ramos (M.A. in History) for community service. Also awarded but failed to attend the event was Dr. Vermen Verallo-Rowell (Pre-Medicine) for dermatology.

Prior to the homecoming, various colleges conducted alumni congresses in different venues of the University's four campuses between 1:30 and 3:30 to bring together graduates of the University and the academic community.

The Grand Homecoming, with the theme “Carolinians: Crossing Borders, Coming Home”, opened with the traditional Holy Mass at 3:30 at the Church of St. Arnold and St. Joseph. The dark clouds and brief downpour failed to dampen everyone's spirits as the gathering proceeded in earnest at the lobby and concourse of the College of Architecture and Fine Arts.

Fr. Pres. Roderick C. Salazar, Jr., SVD, in a brief opening statement, exhorted the alumni to be witnesses to the Word even as he explained the beautifully crafted theme of this year's USC Foundation Week, "Beyond Borders, Within Worlds: Witness to the Word, USC's Corporate Social Responsibility".

The annual homecoming traditionally kicks off the first day of USC Foundation Week, which marks the time when four Jesuit priests and a lay brother opened the oldest school in the Philippines and USC's precursor, the Colegio de San Ildefonso, on August 21, 1595 in Cebu.

As in previous years, a fireworks display wowed the alumni even as fanfare and celebrations of noble achievements by Carolinians ensued. A unique feature of this year’s reunion was the special request for all alumni to attend wearing their best pair of jeans. The cover and signage of the homecoming were also a fresh departure from the usual formalized designs that marked most of the homecoming souvenir programs in the past.

Thanks Mike for updating...

On the list of Outstanding Carolinians, two were my batch mates ( even class mates ), Philip Tan and Marilyn Yap.  Last year, there was one.  None was a Boholano....

There was an idea to have my nomination when I was considered to the Presidential Awards for Filipino Individuals Overseas nominees last year for OFWs in Saudi Arabia  ( but did not have time to give focus in the preparation, besides a more appropriate time will come ).

By then, a Boholano candidate is on the making... next year may be a year for us.. with God's blessings..

junayag

We are hoping to find other Carolinian achievers through this forum.

junayag

May I ask fellow Carolinians to come forward arong mag-ilaila ta especially naa ko karon sa Cebu and Bohol for a week. Looking forward to reach you... Thanks.

As the moderator for Outstanding Boholanos in the Planet, it would be a great pleasure to meet Boholano achievers and those in the path for success who hailed from the University of San Carlos to be able to recognize them ...and be models worth to be replicated...

Bol-anon Ko, thanks for your interest... certainly am counting you to be part of the group.  It's nice to be with people who have the same passion... through outsourcing we could help a lot of people.  It is not only helping we can bring that change by embedding "quality" to them thereby having that "world-class concept" infectious to them.  Should you have special concerns, you could send PM to me. Looking forward to hear from you and would appreciate if you could define your areas of priorities...

Galen, thank you sa imong reply.  I just wanted to know for any opportunities where we could explore someday in Singapore from a TB who is based there.

Fellow Carolinians nga Bol-anon, could we organize a contingent for this year's USC University/Foundation Day? just like other provincial chapters who participated in previous years' celebration?  Please indicate your name, so we could reach you for any plan.... Thanks.

In previous years, University Foundation Day celebrations were attended with contingents notably by alumni groups from Surigao and those based in the USA... because of our proximity to Cebu.... how nice to have participation from Bohol....

Hello Fellow Carolinians in Bohol,

I've revisited this thread with the hope that we could reactivate discussions en route to our plan of organizing Carolinian Alumni Bohol Chapter especially that I will be home soon and will certainly spend time in actualizing this dream for a noble purpose to Bol-anons.
