It is best to refrain from acquiescing to one's raw emotions immediately. Think about the words one will use, the consequences of such an act and the people you will hurt in the process.

Do family members like being cut by harsh words? Do you like being verbally abused by a relative? If no, then why do the same?

Don't personally attack, as it does not folster productive thought nor does it progress. Negative remarks detract from the main topic.

This applies to everyone. Personal attacks are not part of the topic. If someone starts personal attacks, tell one of the Admins, and appropriate action will be made.

God Bless All Of Us,

I was thinking today, Rob, about that one time when we were in Walker Annex and pranked Dominic lol. I can still see Dom's face as we plastered his dorm door with all that crap and placed a little note for him, LOL. Aren't we lucky he was a good chum to just laugh about it? Instead of writing us up? hahahaha!

Crazy man. We were crazy back in freshman year weren't we? I still feel bad for your old room mate. hahahaha!

I miss you bro.

Someday gusto ko mo visita sa Spain, jud.
I want to touch the ground of Mother Spain.

And lay a little orchid on the statue of Dr. Jose Rizal.

Because a friend of mine wanted to see him there. And wanted to see Spain.

In the United States, manay, we have the option to relinquish or retain our old citizenships. When the US Official asked if I wanted to relinquish my Philippine Citizenship, I told her that I wanted to keep it. No problem what so ever.

But yea, it is so much easier to travel abroad with a US Passport.

When I studied abroad in The Ukraine for a semester, my flight took me Paris, then to Amsterdam then to Kiev. But had no problems at all traveling from Detroit to Paris. No problem in Amsterdam. And everything went fine in Kiev.

Coming back to the states, one experiences strict screening jud. "Where you were at, how long, why you were abroad."

But it felt good when they say, "Welcome Home"

haha. Home, indeed.

Naka hinumdum baka sa una?
Kadto bitaw sa dagat
Ning duwa man ta sa starfish
Ning kaun
Ning duwa na pood
Didto sa dagat

Ingoon man to si Mama Luz,
"Bran, Angel, Jing, kaon na taa"
haha, diritso jud sa kanonon
Didto sa dagat

Human sa kaun balik jud sa dagat
duwa duwa na pood
pero ning uwan man lagi
Didto sa dagat

Hapit na wa ang sun

Didto sa dagat

Gi tapos-tapos na ang kananon
Gi ready na ang jeep
Katugon na si Mama Luz
Katugon na pood si Jing ug si Angel
Didto sa Dagat

Ahong colleksyon ug starfish
Gi release na sa dagat
Ning hawa nako sa dagat
Sinilas on

Didto sa dagat

Ning drive mi balik sa Tagbilaran.
Tan-aw ko, na tug na diay si Mama Luz, si jing ug si angel

Mo admit ko, there are times galing that I find difficulty in the work load of studies. And sometimes I think about Dr. Rizal. To think that he studied 10,000 miles away from Philippines, away from his family. And the only communication he had with his family was through pen. Which would take weeks even months to deliver. Yet, Rizal was able to finish his studies in Medicine and fight and overcome his own difficulties; economic, academic, etc.

I do find strength in Dr. Rizal's own tribulations and in his triumphs.

It is a reminder for all of us that with dedication, and strong whit, things can be achieved.

That is why I like Dr. Rizal. His words and his actions are so very humanistic. Universal.

Oh I wish I could have met the man. The questions I would ask him~

Rizal was a lover of Europe. He specialized in Ophthalmology (Eye care) in Paris. And further studied in Heidelberg University in Germany.

After he conquered Medicine in Spain, he conquered France and Germany.

Those who executed him had no right to touch Dr. Rizal. No right what so ever. The man was leagues beyond their comprehension or level. Their dirty hands and foolish violence had no right to touch his intelligence.

Dr. Rizal was definiately and truly a giant of a man.

Can you imagine, graduating medical school is alone difficult. But Rizal finished medicine in Spain, then specialized in Paris Medical School, then further specialized by studying in Heidelberg University School of Medicine. 3 Medical Schools.

Genius he was. Genius he will always be.

It is ironic that Jose P. Rizal was discriminated in Philippines and not in Spain.

He studied in the University Santo Tomas Faculty of Medicine, but did not complete the program because he claimed to have been discriminated by the Spanish Friars there.

Instead, without his parents' decision on on his own whim, Jose P. Rizal went and enrolled in Universidad Central de Madrid Colegio de Medicinae. Where he finished and earned his Doctorate of Medicine.

Ironic that he experienced little to no racism in Spain but more so in Philippines?

Rizal was a graduate of the prestigious Universidad Central De Madrid. One of the finest institutions in Spain and in Western Europe. It is comparable to England's Oxford or America's Harvard.

I think Philippines needs to have a blood clause for ownership of land.

My two younger brothers are born in the United States, and are not Filipino citizens. But both of them have talked about visiting Philippines and staying in our homes in Bohol.

I wonder if Philippines has a law that allows Filipino-Americans to own land by blood relation. I mean both of our parents were born in the Philippines.

I know that in the United States, if both of your parents are natural born Americans or American Citizens, even if a child of an American citizen is born abroad, that child will become an American citizen automatically. By American blood right. It is called the American Eagle Right.

Does Philippines have this?

The Mexicans, the Argentines, the Columbians, the Bolivians will say, "Why will not Mother Spain erect statues of Simon Bolivar, of Fuentes, of Iturbide, and Romero in the plazas of Madrid?"

"Why does Mother Spain glorify a Filipino Indio and not a Spanish Creole, a Spanish Peninsulare of the Latin World?"

Then the Spaniard will respond, "Because you Argentines, Columbians, Mexicans, Bolivians, Peruvians, Venezuelans, Chileans uttered hatred of Spain in your revolution. On the death bed of your great leaders, they ushered curses and spite towards Spain.

This Indio is no ordinary Indio. This man was Sr. Dr. Rizal. A gifted man. That on his last breath and last day, he ushered no curses to Spain. And on his last day, wrote 'Mi Ultimo Adios' in Spanish and not in his own native Tagalog. That on his last breath, he not once ushered hatred for Spain. But love for his Filipinas and Spain.

That is why Spain Loves Rizal. "

If English is crazy, then all others will be. That "craziness" is a unique characteristic of every language.  In linguistics, that property is called arbitrary. Language's symbols are arbitrary. We have to understand that language (of any kind and origin) follows distinct symbols like phonemes (sound), morphemes (words) and syntax (sentences). However, the symbols (like gramatical rules and words) are based on an "agreed-upon" words to represent things, qualities, etc. and do not have direct relationship to the thing it is representing.

Example: Why do we call dog "DOG" when in fact the name seems to be irrelevant to the animal? Why can't we name it "BOW-WOW" which is, I think, more relevant because we hear them bark with that sound?

We call our capital city Tagbilaran not because of those so many myths and legends behind its name (which could be true) but because the word is the agreed name for the place. That shows the arbitrariness of language. In the end, we will understand that the main reason why we have language is for us to communicate and not just to name all those things and qualities around us.

Notice the deafs and mutes when they communicate using sign language, we could observe that most of the signs are not relevant to what they stand for.

BTW, the post was so funny but it would help language teachers help the learners learn language better.

Well said, Jose. Well said.

I like that, "arbitrariness" of language. haha! I raise  my cup of tea to that!

Ate Ging,

Last time ning adto ahong Ante Beth ug Uncle Steve sa Pinas, ning adto man to si ahong Uncles, Engr. Roy Lucino, and Engr. Roger Lucino back to Pintuyan to attend a family wedding. They videotaped everything, jud, from taking a banka to pintuyan and to the arrival of the island.

I remember watching the video in my Ante Beth's house because i could see the palms of pinuyan, the lush waters, and the beaches of Pintuyan. Immediately in my mind I could imagine my papa titing who left pintuyan by himself on a banka when he was only 8 years old to seek better/greener pastures in cebu. I cried in my heart when i saw the videos because i never saw my relatives before in pintuyan face to face. Seeing the videos i could see my distant cousins, my titos, titas, goodness there is a town in pintuyan where there are alot of Lucinos. In fact my titos sat as a mayor in some towns in pintuyan before. i never knew it until my ante beth and my dad told me some years ago.

Very very luuy ang way of life didto sa pintuyan, from what my dad and ante beth tell me, but somehow i find it beautiful how they can be content in living their lives there. A sense of simple contentedness.

Gusto jud ko mo balik sa Pintuyan in the future. I want to visit that island jud. That is where my Papa Titing came from. I want to visit the grave of my Lolo Bernardo (Andot).

Pohon, lagi.

Dong, if my memory is right. Pintuyan is located southern part of Leyte.

Yes, yes, it is a very very small island south of Leyte.

My papa Ting (my grandfather) left the island of Pintuyan when he was only an 8 year old boy and left it on a banka. He went to Cebu and became a good businessman, and then went to Bohol where he became a great businessman. By the grace of God, he met my lola, Mama Luz and have 7 beautiful, wonderful children. (My father was the first born). My papa ting didn't even have a high school education, but sent all of his kids to college. All the boys became Engineers (my dad is a product of CIT engineering school) and his youngest son, my Uncle, is Dr. Renee Lucino, MD. The first Lucino to become a Doctor of Medicine. Graduate of Cebu Doctor's School of Medicine. My aunts are successful, one a government official and another a Trauma Nurse.

Shows to tell us that humble beginnings, and poorness, and lack of money is NO barrier to success. Anything is possible. FOR THE LORD GRANTS HIS GRACE TO THOSE WHO SEEK HIS GRACE.

Both victims, identified as Ronallie Calida, a student of Letran, and Elson Caguida, a working student of Dual Tech, were shot in the head.

Police said the victims’ cellular phones and other personal belongings were intact when a traffic enforcer found their bodies at around 6 a.m. yesterday. Probers also found the motorcycle the two were riding when they went to the park the previous night.   â€" Ed Amoroso, Philippine Star

Lord God of Heaven,

2 Corinthians 12:19
"Have you been thinking all along that we have been defending ourselves to you? We have been speaking in the sight of God as those in Christ; and everything we do, dear friends, is for your strengthening. 20 For I am afraid that when I come I may not find you as I want you to be, and you may not find me as you want me to be. I fear that there may be quarreling, jealousy, outbursts of anger, factions, slander, gossip, arrogance and disorder. 21 I am afraid that when I come again my God will humble me before you, and I will be grieved over many who have sinned earlier and have not repented of the impurity, sexual sin and debauchery in which they have indulged.

Peter 6:16-19: "There are six things that GOD does hate; yes, seven are things detestable to his soul: lofty eyes, a false tongue, and hands that are shedding innocent blood, a heart fabricating hurtful schemes, feet that are in a hurry to run to badness,  a false witness that launches forth lies, and anyone sending forth contentions among brothers."

Romans 1:28-31:
(28) And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient;
(29) Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers,
(30) Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents,

If you have any encouragement from being united with Christ, if any comfort from his love, if any fellowship with the Spirit, if any tenderness and compassion, then make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and purpose. Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves. I don't believe in omens nor do I believe in superstition.

“When you come into the land which the LORD your God is giving you, you shall not learn to follow the abominations of those nations. There shall not be found among you anyone who makes his son or his daughter pass through the fire [an ancient occult practice], or one who practices witchcraft, or a soothsayer, or one who interprets omens, or a sorcerer, or one who conjures spells, or a medium, or a spiritist, or one who calls up the dead. For all who do these things are an abomination [detestable] to the LORD…”
   -Deuteronomy 18:9-12

Again, on omens etc etc;

Paul, filled with the Holy Spirit, looked intently at him and said, O full of all deceit and all fraud, you son of the devil, you enemy of all righteousness, will you not cease perverting the straight ways of the Lord? And now, indeed, the hand of the Lord is upon you, and you shall be blind, not seeing the sun for a time.' And immediately a dark mist fell on him, and he went around seeking someone to lead him by the hand"
-Acts 13:9-11

The Philippines needs to take advantage of our intrinsic qualities and location. Our beaches are second to none. Our lush environment is exotic. Our lands are fertile. Our people are extremely and highly trained/ intelligent. Our mastery of the English language is something to be marveled at by our other Asian neighbors who have difficulty in speaking English.

Bring foreigners into the Philippines, if you let them own territory, they'll pay taxes for it. They'll end up living in the Philippines, pour resources into the local markets, buy local foods, and grow accustomed to Filipino way of life. And ultimately become 'Filipino'.

Philippines has alot to offer. And at the same time we have alot to gain. A "win/win" situation.

I think it should be allowed. Foreigners are able to buy American land, even if they aren't US citizens. The King of Saudi Arabia (not American citizen) owns American assets and land.
Even GMA holds some American assets. Foreigners owning Filipino land will stimulate the economy and bring dollars and Euros to the country. Good for local businesses translates in strengthening the local dynamics.

i beg to disagree with some of the above quoted observations of dong enzo.

Foremost, it was at the time of Marcos that NPAs and CPP flourished because of his wanton disregard of human rights. the marcos era was the prime of student activism because of his policies that violates that very foundation of our persons and of our nation.

if my memory is still serves me right, the Huks, the NPAs predecessor, were already crushed (surrendered, i think, is more politically correct) at the time of President Quirino by then Secretary Ramon Magsaysay's intervention in the peace process.  It was Magsaysay's popularity among the masses thal led the Huks to leave the mountains.

Secondly, Marcos' misplaced sense of nationalism cost so many lives including that of the massacre of the men he trained to be sent to Sabbah.  I am not espousing the idea that only diplomatic missions could solve our Sabbah claims, but then, Marcos' policy was just totally wrong.  Had Marcos reflected much of his stance on Sabbah, the massacre could have been avoided. It was so haphazardly and negligently planned that its flaws were screaming wild in our history.

Tito,

I am no specialist in Filipino National Security, but am just a regular reader. Yes you are right about the grave human rights abuses by President Marcos. The Jabidah Massacre was an unfortunate incident, but due to the secretive nature of the operation at the time, "Operation Merdika" (Operation Freedom) I can understand why it was done. As it was part of the Philippine Intereste to train paratroopers and saboteurs to invade Sabah. The term "Merdika" is Malay for "Freedom".

I for one am not going to sit here and deny the human rights violations of President Marcos, as that would be impossible. I acknowledge his mistakes, and the grievances of the Filipino people that suffered under his administration.

However, I will not deny the fact that I am attracted and intrigued by his oratory skills, his military solidarity. Never has the Philippines seen the rise of the Philippine Armed Forces as in the days of Marcos. When the Philippine Air Force, Navy, Army, Marines, Black Panthers, Rangers etc, was so well equipped, well trained, and well armed that left its Asian neighbours reeling.

It was a time when the Philippine Eagle eyed foreign lands. Had the Philippines invaded Sabah, Malaysia, there was no way Malaysia would have survived the invasion or repelled the invasion. As the incident wouldn't have been the same as the Konfrantasi of 1962 when Indonesia's Pancasilah forces tried to extinguish Malaysia's right to existance. As when this happened, the UK and Australian forces intervened on Malaysia's behalf.

The Philippines, a strategic ally of the United States, and the Philippine Army, Navy, Marines were all American-trained, using the best-of-the best American materiel would not have been touched by British or Aussie forces for fear of straining American relations. And then again, just on the size of the Armed Forces of the Philippines at the time. During the Marcosian Epoch, the AFP was estimated at having 250,000 men on active duty. Sabah would have fallen in 2-3 months time as Operation Merdika predicted. There are even reports that the Philippines could have marched all the way west to conquor not just Sabah, but also all of Sarawak  (East Malaysia). Other Right-wing Filipino would even go so far as marching the entire Army to Peninsular Malaysia, taking and subduing Kuala Lumpur. And Absorbing the whole of Malaysia into the Greater Republic of the Philippines.

Mymetics Corporation (OTCBB: MYMX) announces the confirmed success of its preventive vaccine against HIV/AIDS. To this day, these results are the most promising and advanced in the world. They confirm a decisive breakthrough in the HIV/AIDS prevention. To such an extent that European authorities have just authorized the launch of the Phase I human clinical study.

On February 10th, in Montreal, for the 16th Conference on Retroviruses and Opportunistic Infections (CROI), Dr. Sylvain Fleury, Mymetics' Scientific Chief Officer, has presented the results of a second round of preclinical tests, which confirm the success of its preventive HIV/AIDS vaccine.

It is now known that some individuals are naturally resistant to the infection from HIV/AIDS virus, despite a high degree of exposure to this virus, in particular during non protected sexual activities (notably prostitutes in Kenya and Cambodia). Those rare individuals have been identified 20 years ago from diverse populations with different ethnic backgrounds. Despite their high exposure to the virus with different HIV positive individuals, these prostitutes for example, stay HIV negative. The explanation for this natural resistance is the presence, in vaginal secretions of women - or rectal secretions of men - of specific IgA antibodies. Replicating this natural protection, Mymetics' preventive vaccine formulation induces IgA antibodies at the mucosal level, rather than IgG antibodies circulating in the blood.

Thus, Mymetics' preventive vaccine is based on an approach targeting specifically IgA antibodies, whereas all other vaccine projects have opted to target IgG antibodies, or specific cytotoxic cells against the HIV virus. This innovative approach, with mucosal antibodies rather than blood antibodies, explains Mymetics' success compared with the deceptions met by other laboratories, since its vaccine stimulates defence mechanisms blocking the virus entry at the mucosal level, the first entrance door of the virus.

In the last step of the preclinical trials, Mymetics has done a viral challenge with macaques, the species closest to humans when it comes to the development of the pathology. One group is vaccinated and the other one is the control group. Both groups then receive numerous doses of the virus to test the vaccine's efficacy.

Mymetics viral challenge results in Beijing have proven excellent. The vaccinated group is almost completely resistant to the virus and the non vaccinated control group is completely infected. The results obtained with the Institute of Laboratory Animal Science (ILAS) of the Chinese Academy of Sciences were checked (blind test) by an independent lab, the Center for Diseases Control (CDC) of Beijing with the same final outstanding results, using a measuring technique 5 times more sensitive, corresponding to the occidental standards.

On the basis of these results and the excellence of the project, the Belgian Ministry of Health, in the name of European authorities, has authorized (in 16 days) launching the Phase I human clinical study.

What is more, so as to block possible critics, in particular the small number of animals used in the two test groups, Mymetics has presented those extremely promising results to Dr. Chris Miller, of the University of California, whose preclinical research centre on macaques is considered by the scientific community one of the best. Dr. Miller is one of the very few who has already developed a vaccine approach at the mucosal level. Having qualified Mymetics' results as excellent he has confirmed his interest for a joint collaboration, notably for new studies on groups of macaques. These results are unique in the world, and puts Mymetics clearly in a leading position in targeting neutralizing antibodies at the mucosal level versus the approach of most other laboratories which focus on blood antibodies. The goal of the repetitive study that Mymetics plans to do with Dr. Miller is to transform stable results in indisputable results, to be able, at last, to accelerate clinical tests on humans. Because HIV/AIDS prevention is a real issue at world level which calls for an urgent mobilisation.

By pooling the results of over 50 studies, researchers in the US confirmed and brought up to date the evidence of a strong link between physical exercise and colon cancer whereby men and women who exercise more have a lower risk of developing the disease, and they also firmed up the estimates of the size of risk.

The meta-analytical study was the work of lead author Dr Kathleen Y Wolin of the Department of Surgery, Washington University School of Medicine in St Louis, Missouri, and colleagues, and is published in the advanced online 10 February issue of the British Journal of Cancer.

The authors wrote that although a link between physical activity and colon cancer risk is well established, in that more physical activity is linked with lower disease risk, there is no formal estimate of the size of this risk and how it varies that is supported by recent studies.

For this study, they analyzed a total of 52 research papers going back to 1984. They left out any studies that combined colon and rectal cancer because there is no evidence that exercise affects rectal cancer and there would be a danger that including rectal cancer would understimate the size of the link between physical activity and colon cancer alone.

They analyzed the data by sex and study design: thus arriving at separate and combined estimates for men and women and different types of studies, such as case control and cohort studies.

The results showed that:

    * Comparing people who did the most exercise with the ones who did the least, the ones who did the most had a 24 per cent lower risk of developing colon cancer.

    * For men, the figure was also 24 per cent, for women it was 21 per cent.

    * Findings from case-control studies were stronger (31 per cent lower risk of colon cancer for those who exercised the most compared to those who exercised the least) that those from cohort studies (17 per cent lower risk).

Case control studies make comparisons between people with the disease and counterparts that do not have the disease (the controls). Cohort studies follow a group over a period of time and either make comparisons within the group or with another group that is representative of the general population.

The authors concluded that:

"This study confirms previous studies reporting an inverse association between physical activity and colon cancer in both men and women, and provides quantitative estimates of the inverse association."

Wolin, a cancer prevention and control expert with the Siteman Cancer Center at Barnes-Jewish Hospital and Washington University. explained to the press:

"What's really compelling is that we see the association between exercise and lower colon cancer risk regardless of how physical activity was measured in the studies."

"That indicates that this is a robust association and gives all the more evidence that physical activity is truly protective against colon cancer," she argued.

Colorectal cancer is the third most common type of cancer. More than 100,000 Americans are diagnosed with colon cancer and about 40,000 with rectal cancer every year. The findings of this study would suggest that more than 24,000 fewer cases of colon cancer would be seen among Americans every year if they were to exercise a lot more.

Wolin and colleagues found that it didn't matter what form the exercise took: whether it was a leisure activity such as jogging or swimming, or occupational such as walking or digging; it had the same effect for both men and women.

Many people could use your valuable help.

Priscilla,

I am no expert in Philippine National Security and I think it would be best to ask others in the forum who are far more experienced, learned and trained in this topic than I. I only spent 5 years of my entire life in the Philippines. 18 years of my life has been in the United States, and am far more accustomed to society in the United States.

One of the reason why I joined Tubag Bohol was to re-connect with my homeland. To which I am very grateful, as a Filipino and an American.

Though I am not an expert in Philippine History and Internal Security, I'll try to answer some of your questions:

QuoteLorenzo could you please explain the senseless things that have been going on in Basilin killing innocent civilians all the way from the deep south up into northern Luzon? What do you call that?
That is the kind of stuff that you Filipinos are protecting especailly GMA herself. Why is your countries leader into protecting these terrorist from your country?
The rise of islamofascism in the Philippines, mainly from Southern Mindanao and from the Tawi-Tawi Group is a result of an influx of jihadist rhetoric coming from Malaysia and Indonesia; particularly group members of Islamiyaah Jeremiyah, a terrorist organization whose goals and aims is to establish an 'All Muslim' Malayan State that would include Indonesia, Malaysia and Muslim Philippines.

Basilan is also home to temporary US military bases, to folster and strengthen American and Filipino relations and combat the rising militant islamofascism. The United States understands that the Philippines is strategically located in the center of the Malaccas Straits, on border with the Indian Ocean, the Western Pacific, on the border of the South China Sea and the Sea of Japan. The United States understands that American hegemony in the Pacific relies on warm relations with the Philippines to use bases in the archipelago. This also translates into a political relationship for Manila and Washington.

In order for the United States to maintain warm relations with the Philippines and to ensure the bond, the Philippines must maintain stability. And the United States understands that rising militant islamofasist terrorism is a threat to Philippine Sovereignty and National Stability. That is the reason why both nations hold CARAT Exercises annually, as well as maintain the Visiting Forces Agreement, which has been promulgated ever since the explusion of American Military Forces after the Subic Bay and Clark Air Force Base Incidents in the early 1990's, under the Aquino Administration.

The incidents we have of terrorist bombs in Manila and in Mindanao is nothing but an example of the futility of die hard radical islamofascists and their inability to compromise. They live by an attitude of 'all or nothing'.

The mentality radical islamofascists  have, and I mean no offense, are coincidental to those of the middle ages. And belongs in history, in text books, not in the common epoch.

Quotemany of Americans hafe fought my dear so that you and I could have a better world. not all wars are senseless are they?

I am a 1st generation Filipino-American. Raised and grew up in the United States. My accent is American, my way of thinking is purely American, and am proud of the red white and blue. Am priviledged to live in a country that has sacrificed its sons and daughters for the freedoms of other peoples and to champion the American Cause abroad.

Which has, been the basis an idol of many developing countries.

I am not against such an option. I'm very open to someday taking part in Medical Missions.

Another beautiful thing about Valencia!

When I was a Child, I would just walk down the mercado with no care in the world and people would know who I am just by relation to family.

"Ah ikaw man apo ni Nong Ciano"

lol, there was one lady I remember who owned a little store next to my Lolo's house. She used to sell ice water, which I would buy from her for 50 centavos. I forget her name, i don't even know if she is still alive now, but i remember whenever me, my cousin joseph and sister angel would buy ice water from her, she would give us free pandesal as well. lol.

Bem,

this is any regular bacterial pathogen ergo, opportunistic bacteria. Takes advantage of immunodeficiency. Michael was already immunocompromised: one he was undergoing surgery; meaning direct exposure. Open wound gud, so there is direct exposure to the circulation.

Mode of treatment right now is antibiotic (heavy) to subdue the bacterial infection and prevent sepsis-related conditions from occurring. Antibiotics is there to weaken the antigen enough to allow one's immune system (macrophage, killer-tcells, lysosomes, peroxisomes etc) to fight the bacteria.

Side effect ani is that antibiotics targets the entire host of bacterial flora; not just invasive forms. We have bacterial flora in the intestine (in jejunum, duodenum and ileum as well as the large intestines) which funcition in digestion and absorption.

The problem with prolonged antibiotic treatment is that it weakens the enterocytic bacterial flora, resulting in malabsorption and maldigestion. For an individual who is already immunocompromised and in need of sufficient nutrient intake, this can be detrimental to overall health and the repair process.

He needs Intensive Care right now.

Lorenzo

He is on heavy antibiotics right now, I hope it will be enough to subside the toxins, as continued long-exposure to heavy antibiotics will lead to inhibition of intestinal flora. If left unchecked, can lead to malabsorption, maldigestion and associated diseases of said conditions.

He loves me and I love him. That, in itself, is enough to sustain us.

We are proud for the Love of Our Lord has On Us.

Addendum, even atheists can have civil unions. In fact, one of the reasons they choose civil unions is :
a) evasion of religious discourse and tradition
b) legal authentication of union and acquirement of benefits guaranteed by the act of union ergo, tax combination, financial reasons etc.
c) Secularization

That is true, as a civil union before the law is predicated by means in a secular society. Civil unions are based on lawful union, for the benefit of the said spouses for benefit in taxes, in health care benefits, etc.

That is the very reason why we have civil union in one hand and a church-based wedding in the other. For the accustomed, it is observable to have a civil union first, in order to have legal notification an legalization of said union, and then have a church-based wedding afterwards, to solemnize the said oath before the eyes of God and Church.

Bright jud ka, Calle. :)

Man has conquered its primordial enemies since the beginning of his rise.

Man has conquered disease--through medicine and pharmacology

Man has has conquered heat--through technology of air condition systems, cooling systems

Man has conquered gravity--through the use of magnetism

Man has conquered the air and the skies--through the invention of air planes, jets, rockets

Man has conquered space--through the Space Exploration Programs

Man has charted the heavens and the galaxies--through the use of high powered telescopes and galactic measuring through explorative satellites, etc

Man has visited the Plant of Mars through Machines---Mars was once considered the Diety of Ares, the God of War in Hellenistic and Roman Religions.

Man has conquered the oceans--through the invention of submarine, the boats.

But the greatest enemy of man, of every single human being is Death.

Death is final answer. The end of greatness, the silencer of talk, the quiet calm.

Complete stillness. Emptiness. Absence Everlasting.

The question is, Can man conquer Death?
#40985
Death can also be explained genetically. And in genetics, there is a way to prevent or even to alter that state.

Unfortunately for us, in this epoch, we do not have the facilities to re-stabilize genetic defects in the human genome.

But in time, maybe in a few centuries, we will have the ability to repair genetic transcripts in error. Longevity everlasting.

Interesting, isn't it?
#40986
The human genome project, identifies about 30,000~ genes in the human body that code everything. From the color of your hair, to your facial formation, to your laryngeal apparatus, to the size of your genitals, to your length of stature, to your build, to your psychological, to diseases etc.

The plan, now, is to find a way to code, to inhibit, to express certain genes.

In theory, scientists, claim that further unraveling of these codes can, unlock cellular immortality in genetic transcription, elongation, replication, in unwinding, in segregation and in partition and even excision and nucleotidic repair.

In layman's terms, "To Live Forever"

Interesting, isn't it?

Again, one thing that is rather interesting in Molecular Biology or genetics is the Recessivisity and dominance of our genes. Through the basis of meisos and mitosis, we have chromosomal cross-overs, which leads to genetic variance, which leads to, in the organismal form, degrees in levels of phenotypic peculiarities due to genotype.

Do you want to know more about what causes and inhibits recessivisity and dominance?

Reading this thread, I am called to read the Psalms.

And there is a verse in scripture that best ends this talk:

Blessed is the one whose transgression is forgiven,
whose sin is covered.
Blessed is the man against whom the Lord counts no iniquity,
and in whose spirit there is no deceit.

For when I kept silent, my bones wasted away
through my groaning all day long.
For day and night your hand was heavy upon me;
my strength was dried up as by the heat of summer. Selah

I acknowledged my sin to you,
and I did not cover my iniquity;
I said, “I will confess my transgressions to the Lord,”
and you forgave the iniquity of my sin. Selah

Therefore let everyone who is godly
offer prayer to you at a time when you may be found;
surely in the rush of great waters,
they shall not reach him.
You are a hiding place for me;
you preserve me from trouble;
you surround me with shouts of deliverance. Selah
—Psalm 32:1-7

The mercy and forgiveness of The LORD is highest of all and cannot be fathomed by us, who are born sinners;

"as far as the east is from the west,
so far does he remove our transgressions from us."
—Psalm 103:12

Sir Felix,

I understand your inquisitive nature on this situation, and I find it very unbecoming when one generalizes the Roman Catholic Church on the basis of one priest and his mistake. And let that be known that it was a mistake for him to marry even if it was a civil wedding. As a prerogative of royal priesthood is total evation and total sacrifice to Chist Himself.

To be a priest is to marry into the Body, The Blood of Christ Our Lord.

Why marry? As A priest is married to God's teachings. And The Word.

Let that be known that Fr. Lamata is not sinless in that regard, he violated one of the tenents of Priesthoood. Which is total celibacy. But then again, that is his qualms and his sin that he needs to battle and ask for forgiveness from his creator and Lord. Whom he serves as his priest to his flock. It is not for us to judge when we we ourselves are guilty of a multitude of sins. Either we choose to accept it or not, we are ourselves guilty of sin and shall always be, but through the grace of God, we are saved.

As Romans 3;23 reiterates, "For All Fall Short From the Glory of God."

Again, the actions and mistakes of Fr. Lamata are his own. And is not that of the Holy Roman Catholic Church.

Let us pray for him, instead of attacking him.

Sincerely,
Bran Lorenzo

haha, Tito, you better share ha! I will share mine then.
Back in college, I asked out a cute damsel. I was a sophomore in undergrad and she--a junior. She was my O-CHEM TA. She's now a graduate student in U of T (PhD in Crystallic Chemistry).

Our date was rather simplistic, now that i think about it, we went to Chovy's--a semi-forma Italian restaurant--about a 5 minute drive from campus. I distinctly remember ordering her Creme Brulee for desert. Man, she had the sweetest lips. :P

I walked her back to her dorm, but requested we go tothe chem department, apparently she left her bags in her professor's office. So we went there, I walked her there at night. And I distinctly remember it was a cold and chilly November night. November of 2005. We went in the office--talked for a bit. We kissed. Pero to our dismay, we were inturrupted by the Custodian who opened the door on us. :P

The next day we had OCHEM lab; she gave me the reddest look. lol.

Amy, Amy. You silly chic.

lol, i wish i had the option of you fortuitious individuals who had the option of sleep. And debate on how to sleep. Luuy man mi ang mga estudyante medicinae kai we sleep (only/if only) we read enough. A sleep for me usually is a 3-4 hour nap in the long chairs at the lounge. Or if I'm lucky a nice 4-6 hour sleep on Tuesdays and Thursdays when we don't have rotation requirements.

Where art thou, good and faithful sleep?

Come hither,
