hahaha, 'te Raquel, bati ang smell sa formaldehyde no? My first time i entered human anatomy lab, the smell was so strong. I teared because of the strength of formalin.

hehe, Allegheny General Hospital isn't too far away from our college. Part na of UPMC Health System (University of Pittsburgh Medical Center).

To Glace, and Raquel,

Thank you for sharing both of your perceptive and homely message. I personally was brought to smile and felt the awesome genuine message of Raquel's post. Thanks for that.

You are right, Raquel, it is the Act that is the sin. Not the person.

Time and time again we are told about this, from our partaking of Catholic Mass. This is the same issue as Abortion. The Act of Abortion is a sin, as it is cold blooded murder. Something that the Church has fought against even since the 1st century AD.

Our catholic collegiate chaplain once told us, the members of the Collegiate Newman's Association (Catholic Association): "Pray for your brothers and sisters, and most of all pray for yourselves. For we are all all one in Body of Christ. Be aware of your actions, and the actions of others--and understand and comprehend right from wrong. Love the sinner, Hate the Sin."

All in all, the article that Father shared with us, precisely and fullheartedly, in my perception, complies with what the Holy Roman Catholic Church, and what our Protestant and Orthodox brothers and sisters fall in line with.

I think it pretty well summarizes with the overall viewpoint of Christendom.

Another pa,

November 23, we were reviewing for our Lab Practical Midterms, we were being tested on the lower anatomy and thorax.

Some of us decided to stay late in the lounge, to find out that in our eagerness to stay late, by the time we were finished--it was pouring like a monsoon outside. lol.

Imagine the smell of formaldehyde clinging to your skin. Even after showering, formalin was still pungent.

:P

I joked with my lab partners, 'The Formalin Boys'. It was a subject of many a many inside jokes. hehe, good times.
#38204
Best part, 'too much time on anatomy'.

My God, i can remember last year, during August '08. I would be in the lab with 5 other students--in the anatomy lab late night.

When we could literally taste formaldehyde n our mouths, and tears would fall from our eyes due to the power of formalin.

And you know what's funny?
After the 2-3rd month, we became 'immune' to formaldehyde's effects. hahaha!

O man, great time, great times. Or when we would take a 'midnight break' to the coffee shop and the store owner asked us why we smelled so 'different'

:P LOL!

hahahahaha!

Is 4 am, and i have just come to finish micro review. I have to finish pathology.
Where art tho o sleep?
Thy sweet and cold caress of mine bed, the blowing of the AC has evaded mine own self.

Why dost sleep evade me? And the grip of studies is strong on mine own neck, as a grip of a desperate lover's embrace.

Ah sweet grip, let go of me. For I need sleep.

Yes, i do love you, studies, but i must retire to sleep.

Misty,

Always thank your parents. Show them love, tell your mom and dad--frequently that you love them.

Sure ko, ma lipay sila. :)

#38209
Another,

Discipline. I thank my father for disciplining me as I grew up, to know right from wrong. Disciplined me and taught me to Fear God. What I thought was 'cool' as an early adolescent is really not 'cool' now that I look at it in hindsight, from a perspective of a 23 year old man. :)

Bless my dad for disciplining me and my younger siblings. When a father disciplines his child, he does so because He loves the child.

Thanks, Dad.
#38210
Even if we disappoint our parents in some of our mistakes, deep down they love us. A parent's love to his child is similar to God's Love to Man.

Am I right, friend?

Perhaps some of us are deaf to Scripture's message in Old Testament; regarding Our Lord's stance with homosexuality.

The Lord God did not prounce around celebrating sin. Let alone the sin of homosexuality.

The twin cities of Sodom and Gamorrah were cities of such sin. The Lord God's righteous judgement is clear. He smote the cities into oblivion. All inhabitants within it, from elderly to the youngest child perished in His judgment.

---

And the Lord said, Because the cry of Sodom and Gomorrah is great, and because their sin is very grievous;
I will go down now, and see whether they have done altogether according to the cry of it, which is come unto me; and if not, I will know.
-- Genesis 18: 20-21

Then the LORD rained upon Sodom and upon Gomorrah brimstone and fire from the LORD out of heaven;
And he overthrew those cities, and all the plain, and all the inhabitants of the cities, and that which grew upon the ground.
--Genesis 19: 24-25

Para nako, importante kaayo ang Mama ug Papa.

I am nothing, i would not be alive had it not been for the Love of my mother and father to one another. I am a product of their love.

A love that was witnessed under God. In a marriage in Church.

A sepository of truth and teachings. That we, their children, are taught to uphold in our own lives.

:)

A happy family expounds Love. And Love, for an individual, is a reason to pursue a similar type of family. So on , so forth.
#38213
Amen, Buwad :)

Righteous Arm of God does not complement with perversity and celebration of Sin.

'Have faith in God,' Jesus answered. 'I tell you the truth, if anyone says to this mountain, "Go, throw yourself into the sea," and does not doubt in his heart but believes that what he says will happen, it will be done for him. Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours. And when you stand praying, if you hold anything against anyone, forgive him, so that your Father in heaven may forgive you your sins'"
(Mark 11:22-25)

I forgive all those who speak ill of me behind my back. Know that I have forgiven you, and that I pray for you. Christ Justifies.

This is a great point, Buwad, Glace and Father.

From my experience lang, and I am speaking through my own conviction--is that we all will sin. Given man jud na. God Almighty knows me and you--our ins and our outs.

All of us are sinners in the eyes of God. Romans 3:23, "For all have come short of the Glory of God."

But that does not give us the excuse to sin precipitously and lasciviously. Yes, we sin, but repentance is required, is sacrifice for that sin. By the merits of Christ, we are saved.

It is the act of homosexuality that is a sin. An Abominable sin, if we refer to Leviticus. and also tot he words of Apostle Paul.

Pero in my own opinion, instead of condemning it--we should pray for them na lang. Prayer is powerful, after all.

Christ Have Mercy on all of Us.

Angay jud ka himoong Catholic Defender Enz kay maajo ka ani and you have the conviction of one. You're truly an "army-strong" witness of your faith!!!

Simple ra man ko, Father. We are called to suffer, and called to bear the Truth.
Ingoon si Jesus nato, blessed are those who suffer for my name's sake. Because of Me. Blessed are you. For yours is the Kingdom of Heaven."

I trust in that message. Si Jesus galing, he was not popular by the Jews in his own time. That is because TRUTH will never be popular. The devil clouds men's hearts and understanding.

In faith we believe. In faith we Know.

Bless you Father! Thanks for making this thread.

Ug ni lola pas gagmay pami, hapit na jud matapos ning kalibutan... sus ning mga kabataan! Ug mga katiguwangan... di na masabtan!

I hear you, Father.

Pero that is the reason why Church and Church Teachings are more important now than ever.

For those who are undecided, mixed, confused about their life, the overwhelming pressure of sin and temptation--all the lies that the devil, May the Lord God Almigty REBUKE him, tries to feed us to fall into his sway.

Unfortunately, for some, they fall into that.

But it is the Truth and Teachings of the Christian Church that gives some of us--who are still open in hearing The Lord's Word. Specially the youth of today--many of them are turning to church again, not all is lost. Thanks be to God.

As always, The CHURCH has always been the lamp unto the darkness.

And the CHURCH, since the 1st century AD has professed these truths.

Salamat intawn for the Church, for keeping us and warning us, and reminding us to pray, to attend church, hear the Word of God, and to Repent.
Else not for the church, salvation is not even possible. The lies of the devil would have already clouded men's hearts--as it has already in many parts of the world.

In Jesus' Name.
I pray.

Karrong tuiga, it is now considered 'uncool' to be conservative. Na uber-liberalized na ang mga tao karoon. Abortion is now wanted, wanton cold blooded MURDER is now considered a 'right of a woman'. Kinsay right? Ang right to end a life?

Homosexuality is considered cool--superfluous open. That is nice if they live like that--May the Lord God have Mercy on Them!

I will not condemn them, but I will only bless them, and pray for them.

Ang meaning ani, what I'm trying to say-- is simple:
We, as a people, as a BODY in CHRIST JESUS, have really swayed away from the path that he laid before--by His carrying of the Cross. And death on the Cross.

People who speak the truth--and teach the truth--who profess biblical and church teachings are labeled and attacked by uper-liberals as being 'closed minded'. :)

No one is forcing you to listen. You have ears. You have eyes.

Jesus Said, "Those who have ears OUGHT to hear! Those of have eyes OUGHT to see!"

:) See the truth.

Then again, the Devil already rules this world. This earthly world is that of the Devil. It is up to the individual to fight temptation, and not regress towards the path of eternal damnation.

From my heart,
Lorenzo

Those who are homosexual, transgendered (identity crisis) etc, they do not have to show case like that in a religious event, imho. And in conviction, I say this from the teachings we are taught--because that act is wrong. It is a sin.

There are opportunities for them to show case their sexual preference--per se in homosexual events--like gay parades. Whatever suits their liking.

I feel like the Bishops and priestly members had to evade in saying the obvious in this article. It is so very obvious in their stance--and the stance of the RCC and most of Christendom, with that.

I pray for these people. May the Lord God have mercy on them.

I gawked at the sight of staphylococcal infections.

I saw a patient with a staphylococcus aureus osteomylelitis infection. The staphyolococci infection literally weathered away his long bone in the lower extremity.

Even with treatment of cephalosporin and methocillin and oxacillin, the growth remains gradual--little impeding.

Na bacteremic and septic ang patient.

Thats why GUYS! you should ALWAYS wash your hands!

What makes a home a happy home?

A happy home is secured when in the winter season, as snow falls on the ground, I turn to walk towards the family room and put in another plank or two of cherry wood into the fireplace. As I close the fireplace mantle, I hear my name being called by mommy, "Bran, ondoy puydi i-ad-adan ang veggies? ku an pood, doy, baka pood kai mo luto ko sabaw karoong gabii."

I answer, "'kay, Mommy".

As I begin to cut veggies, the sound of a school bus comes to my hear. And within a couple of minutes, my younger brothers open the door--bringing with them--their spirit to the house. I can hear my young brother Don Rico and Andre joking around. Andre comes to me to give Kuya a big hug. And Don starts a conversation. Angel comes down as well to help me cut food.

We prepare the food--cook with mommy. And Andre, begins to get excited, to see mommy and Angel begin to prepare the ingredients for Andre's special and favorite dessert. 'Fudge cake brownies'. hehe

He loves his Ate Angel's fudge cake brownies.

By the time the brownies and food are ready, Daddy comes back home--from a long long day's work in the hospital.

We all sit down, together. In the table. To pray, and then to eat.

As they eat--i glance--with my eyes. And take everything in. The sound of my father's voice, his laughter, the sound of my mommy's voice, my younger brothers, and my sister. The beautiful spirit of a family. The Holy Spirit--amongst us.

And I smile. And in my own way--give thanks to God in The Highest. For all the blessings he has given to our family.

Thanks, Lord. Thanks, for everything. For my wonderful family. :)

Will we never learn?

This was the man that the EDSA revolution toppled from power almost a decade ago. And by popular vote, installed Arroyo as president.

One thing I will reiterate, some might call me Machiavellian-esque, but I choose to think that I'm more in the lines of Locke and Paine, beware the excessive passions of the people.

The passions of the people are fleeting, like the wind. One moment you are adored, the next you are hated. One moment you are being toppled from power, the next you are being called to run for election. ;D

Everything in this earth changes. It's also with Lupang Hinirang.

Right on, Mr. Daray.

With all respect to historical premise, understandable, but to be so ruthless in their judgment, it amazes me how blind they can be. Have they forgotten of the ultra-conservatism of the Spanish Prailes of the late 19th century?

Things occur, things happen because change happens. The revolution was a clear example, actually,  the purest form of 'change'.

For the Philippine Historical Board to be so deaf to that reality, and to ruthlessly debase Mr. Niviera's rendition of a beautiful, given in his own poetic licensed style, is so out of line.

Do they not forget that the original Filipino National Anthem was once entitled 'Tierra Adorada' ?

Do they not remember that the official language of this country was once Spanish? And the title of the national anthem in Spanish?

But they do recognize that it was changed into the classic Tagalog 'Lupang Hinirang' with Tagalog translation of the original Spanish vernacular.

For them, referring to the Historical Body, to debase the 'change' Mr. Niviera utilized is ironic, considering the 'Lupang Hinirang' is in itself, a 'change' of the original 'Tierra Adorada'.

Their actions, referring to the Historical Body, is so, well what is the word I'm looking for--ah yes, --Un-Historical. :)

I like reading stories of Filipino Army building schools in war-torn Basilan and helping to put a sense of peace in the region.

Let us pray lang that the kids in Basilan and in southern Mindanao find way to education and to broaden their minds instead of adhering to fanatical militant islamofascism.

I pray for a peace in Mindanao, and the only way we can do this, I think, is by helping to rebuild the war torn areas, as well as to put the pressure on the MILF and the Abu Sayaf. Poverty, in the end, is the major reasons why they take up arms and resort to jihadist orientation.

Hunger, and depravity can drive innocent souls to the wrong side. Easily influenced by the wrong people.

What powers these war boats for their high speed is the airplane fuel put into them instead of bunker fuels ussed by many ships at its weight or more today.

I am glad to see the Navy assisting in training people how to fight against terrorism so the people of the Philippines can become better protected.

Philippine country is lucky we are good allies relationships with them.

The United States Navy is so many leagues ahead of the world navies, in that it has already developed destroyers, and destroyer escorts as well as cruisers and submarines that run primarily on purely nuclear power. There no longer is a need to run on non-renewable fuel.

The newest addition to the United States Navy, the USS George H. Bush Sr, is a nuclear-powered super-aircraft carrier. With emergency rocket fuel reserves. But draws its power from its nuclear reactors inside the belly of the juggernaut.

Its air defense is practically impregnable, and can reach its home port from San Francisco to Midway within less a week's time.

The carrier in the picture is a nuclear-powered Nimitz-class CVN. (Super aircraft carrier)
The ship in the foreground is an Aegis-class Arleigh Burke Destroyer.

In fact, the Philippine Navy has been in need of a fast attack ship for decades now, particularly with the firepower of the PS-38. Its speed, extreme maneuverability and fire power has made it possible to assess the piracy and smuggling problem of the south. Its the kind of ship that the Philippine Navy really needs, its' not too expensive--in fact the Navy can afford 5-6 more of these ships to augment the surface fleet. And at the same time, if upgraded to the brim, these ships have the ability to take down destroyers and frigates and neutralize any air threat.

It's a perfect solution to the Philippine's situation; being an archipelago, the navy needs fast-attack ships that augments the defensive capability.

Bolingitboy, there are upgrades on motor power for the Cyclone Class-ships; the recent development of a newer Cyclone-class by the US Navy can cruise at speeds of 40 knots. And can hit full steam at 50+ knots.

Quick turns and speed can evade even modern ARM missile threats; an answer to the Chinese Jiangzu corvettes -class.

The Philippine Navy, am sure, will purchase more Cyclone-Class ships.

In a conversation I had with Alejandro Villalobos, who was a fellow history student in Allegheny, his collegiate study was focused on Imperial Spanish developments; particularly in Latin America during the Felipan Epoch (the rule of Emperor Philip II), while I focused more on Imperial Military History.

We had an interesting conversation, now that I remember it. He asked me, after reading my collegiate thesis on Filipino Nationalism, how is it that--in my opinion that is--the Philippines remained so loyal to the Spaniards for such a long time, whereas the people of Latin and South America revolted after only 2 centuries of the Motherland's rule. It was an honest and intellectual question, which, am sure, has been the subject of many historical debates within the Spanish and Filipino historical body. Am sure.

Before I share my answer in here, Id like to know your answer--yes--you, the reader.
What do you think is the reason for that manifestation?

Raquel, this really looks delish. Do you make bicco cake too? man o man.

:P

this picture reminds me of my mommy's famous casava cake. Its so good even my friends love it, and they're not even Filipino.

My friend Lee and Tom love the bicco cake and casava cake mom makes, haha.
Lee joked one time, 'Dude you need to like get your mom to teach me how to cook this stuff, like how do i get this stuff?'

I joked, "Well, you can marry a Filipina, Lee."

hahaha.

Raquel, this food you made looks really tempting. I'll leave my imagination to percieve the taste of this already visually stimulating succulent cake. ;)

Cakefully Yours,

The United States is such a large nation that is as large as Continental Europe :)

So if you come visit here, you'll see everything. If you want to see tropics and lush jungle, go visit Hawaii, or Puerto Rico, or Guam.

If you want to see flat grassland and see miles upon miles of farmland and lush greeneries, visit the central midwest, the bread basket of the world. Illinois, Ohio, Oklahoma, Kansas, Minnesota, etc.

If you want to see the north west pacific mountains the rockies--go visit Washington State, visit Arizona, Colorado. If you want to see historic New England, visit Maine, Rhode Island, Massachussets.

If you want to see the Western Night life and Hollywood--visit California etc! And California itself is larger than Germany or France--so one state is like visiting a country all in its own ;)

You want to gamble and have fun? Play some jacks, roll some dice? Live the night life? Visit Las Vegas in Nevada or Atlantic City in New Jersey.

You name, we got it. hahaha.

Come visit the great country: the U S of A.

Lorenzo I am so proud of your accomplishments and wanting to share them amongst other readers and your freinds here in Tubag Bohol.

What you have learned will make you proud in knowing that you will be helping many others with what you know and have practiced.

Keep up the great work and continue always going into the correct direction.

You're so welcome, Priscilla. Anything I have learned, am always happy to share. We're all in this together. Knowledge and information is key--especially when it comes to health and medicine. Teaching and sharing people about medical conditions only increases their understanding of possible effects, conditions and consequences.

I'm happy to know that you enjoyed the videos and others as well.

"Chicken, in actuality, is the healthier type of meat anyone could eat. By far, biochemically and nutritionally speaking, less fat than say beef, pork. It is recommended by nutritionist that chicken or fish be frequented rather than the former beef or pork."

i agree with this piece of information 100%. chicken and fish are much healthier than red meat like beef and pork. but as to the question of the best type of chicken to eat, i still maintain that free-range chicken is safest, and probably the tastiest.

Hey bolingitboy,

Yes I agree, perchance have you ever tasted turkey? Turkey is actually one of the healthier avian species to eat. Very low in fat, and their intake of wild berries, flowers and free ranged hemlinths add to its taste.

Its' amazing how lineage and monarchy is a sepository of not only culture, but history, tradition and a way of life.

His Majesty King Juan Carlos was correct in his message, "La Oficina del Rey es importante por los Espanoles, por el commun, por historia, por tradicion, y cultura. Viva Espana!"

Imagine, he is the direct descendent, by blood, to King Philip II the Great.
The man that our nation and our people are named after by Magellan in 1521. Some 500 years before.

The message is clear, and empowering. History, tradition, community, and culture, indeed, is important for any nation's future. For without the past, there is no direction to the future.

Amen, sister Ellen!
The wonderful gift of salvation is so special isn't it? It may not be tangential or physical that we can hold on in this life, in this earthy pilgramage we call 'Life', but however, it is far more precious than any gem, or any material gift. Because it is the gift of Salvation through Grace that guarantees us, and calls us heavenbound to the open arms of Christ Jesus, who is the only mediator between God the Father and Man.

Salvation, is the gift, the rope to Eternal Life. We die in this world, but we live in Christ Jesus. For when we awake from our earthly death, we shall be as spirits, called home unto the arms of the Most High.

For those who reject salvation of their own free will, theirs is the reality of banishment. Theirs is their decision--complete and an eternal separation from The Lord Most High.

Beautiful message, Sister Ellen.

Yours In Christ,
Bran

To all readers, listeners, fellow students, respected folks,

For the next couple of days I will post videos on Embryology and human development in the womb. I know that there are several Tubag Bohol members that are expectant mothers, and I thought it would be great idea to inform them the development of the child from 1st, 2nd to 3rd trimesters--till partition.

As always, all are welcome to ask questions, discuss and engage in this thread.

I am also open to making videos on request, so i just want you guys to know that. Don't be afraid to ask. In the end, it helps me out because it forces me to remember--and its review for me.

Starting next week, I will get back to posting videos on pathology, microbiology, pharmacology and behavioral psychology/psychiatry.

Yours,
Bran Lorenzo

That You do just what you say
In Your time.

In Your time, in Your time
You make all things beautiful
In Your time
Lord, My life to you I bring
May each song I have to sing
Be to You a lovely thing
In Your time

Lord, please show me every day
As You're teaching me Your way
That You do just what you say

Alleluia, Alleluia.

Ask and it shall be given unto you,
Seek and ye shall find.

Alleluia, Alleluia!

Eternal Father,
Grace and Love,
Who are in all and work through all,
I sit today right now as I begin my work,
and I cannot help but expound in awesome reverie, Lord.

Your brilliance is beyond any measure, Father.
How beautiful are all your works!
As I begin to open my pages, the sun rises and shines on my pages.
Father! It is you who wrote and authored the Sun.
Father! It is you who provided that it should light the world,
And awaken us to a new day.

All that we are, all that we do, either it be great or small,
Is nothing compared to the eternity that is You.
You who are the author of Time,
You who are the Finisher of All Things.

Goodness and Light are Yours. And all come from You.

Father, all wisdom, power, glory, majesty, honor and praise belong to You.

In Jesus' Name.
Amen.
