Lyrics

Shout to the Lord, all the earth,
Let us sing
Power and majesty, praise to the King;
Mountains bow down and the seas will roar
At the sound of Your name.
I sing for joy at the work of Your hands,
Forever I'll love You, forever I'll stand,
Nothing compares to the promise I have in You.

My Jesus, My Savior,
Lord, there is none like You;
All of my days
I want to praise
The wonders of Your mighty love.

My comfort, my shelter,
Tower of refuge and strength;
Let every breath, all that I am
Never cease to worship You.

Shout to the Lord, all the earth,
Let us sing
Power and majesty, praise to the King;
Mountains bow down and the seas will roar
At the sound of Your name.
I sing for joy at the work of Your hands,
Forever I'll love You, forever I'll stand,
Nothing compares to the promise I have in You.

Shout to the Lord, all the earth,
Let us sing
Power and majesty, praise to the King;
Mountains bow down and the seas will roar
At the sound of Your name.
I sing for joy at the work of Your hands,
Forever I'll love You, forever I'll stand,
Nothing compares to the promise I have in You.
Nothing compares to the promise I have
Nothing compares to the promise I have in you

Poems and Poets / Discretion My Dear, I am the Hypocrit.
December 02, 2009, 05:17:04 AM
Ha ha, I must laugh in adoration of thy beautiful face and thy passionate eloquence.

My dear woman, it is apparent to me that you cannot keep your hands off me.
I find it so rather amusing how much you try to hug me before we settle to class and I warn you, "Please be discrete and be professional when people are around."

And you say to me, "Why? Stop being such a d$ckhead!"
ha ha ha ha ha!

And I grimace. And you give me a devilish smile in return.
You are lucky, woman, that I can control myself for there are times that I want to just rip your clothes off,
and elope with you. But, then again, thank goodness that you are with a very respectable and conservative man.
Eh? Ha ha ha ha.

My dear, I am guilty of hypocrisy, I admit.
I am just very private you know. I don't want people in class and in campus to know that we are very physical with each other.
And what right do they have to know? They don't need to know anything~
So let them guess and let them ask questions...oh its the beauty of it all, you see.
Because you know that I am yours. And that is all that should matter.
Because you see I am very private.

But honey, I must confess to you.
I am breaking all my laws right now,
when it concerns you.
Because I am crazy about you.
I have been guilty of writing poems about you.
Posted blogs of my feelings for you, how i love you, how you are precious to me,
and wrote and composed poetic verses about you, about us, etc etc.
And posted it in this web forum.

Baby, Forgive me.

Woman who sat on my right,
Stacy girl,
Why did you unplug my wire connection, did you want to start a fight?

I was sitting on the chair, trying to keep do my 'thing'.
You stared,
And you opened your mouth and kept on ring-ring-ring. ;)

Then when I got up to go to class,
My stomach cringed in knowing you were leaving me alone,
I got up to walk ahead of you, and stared to pass.

My darling little fighter,
The fire that you start,
you cute Illonga igniter.

That you have this effect on me,
to make me rhyme...like a busy bee.

so I laugh here and I laugh there.
A giggle to the left, a giggle to the right.
Now, look, I lost my rhyme scheme. Because you left.

come back woman!

hahaha,
Lorenz

I love her because she is my one and only baby sister. The only girl in our family. I am a very proud and protective kuya for her because she the only girl, and she is very gamay. I only want the best for her. The best and only the best.

Through thick or thin I am always there for her. It is I who am lucky to have a sister like her in my life. She has always been caring, understanding, forgiving, altruistic, and stern to her family and her friends. She has been very understanding of me, which I owe so much to. And to her younger brothers...especially to our baby brother Andre Nicholas, she is like a mother to Ondoy Andre.

She is a good fruit, coming from good and well cultivated ground and root. She is wise, intelligent, soft spoken, stern, and perfected in her deep faith in The Lord God.

She will be a great mother, wife, physician, partner, everything.~

I know it.

By God's Grace.
#34213
She has the intelligence and the direct nature from my mother. Very conservative and quiet, polite, and respectful, but she will talk and will correct someone if she knows they are wrong. Our little Angeli has grown into a very fine and beautiful and able young lady.

She will make a great Physician.

She is a great daughter to our parents, a loving sister to her baby brothers and her kuya, a passionate granddaughter, a loyal and faithful friend. God bless and guide her studies. God's Grace to complement her wisdom.
God's presence to strengthen her strength. God's justice to prevail her. God's Love to justify her.

In Jesus' Name.
Amen.

When she is working by my side. Sweat coming down her face because of the heat and the hectic pace of the hospital floor. I remove my white glove covering my right hand, and gently/delicately wipe the sweat from her face. My eyes home in on hers. And I manage to get her to smile, bingo! Goal achieved. She smiled. he he

Before I leave, she tugs on my scrub pants, and pulls me to her direction, discreetly, so that none of the colleagues can see us and observe our burning passion for one another at work. lol.

She quietly says, "I've fallen for you, Lucino." With gazing eyes.

I respond, "Mahal na mahal kita, bae bee", as I slowly put on my mask and my gloves. I wink, then turn to go back to work.

:)

Testament to our love even during our hectic Medical Health Fair. November 29, 2009.

It is 2:24 AM right now,

Literally 5 some hours until our medical fair begins. I am excited, I just went over with some colleagues to review them on vitals check, and techniques. The goal for tomorrow is to be professional, and direct.

Lord, guide my hand and my eyes, and my sensation to the patient. Give me a calm soul to be able to sleep tonight and an able body to perform to the best of my ability tomorrow during the Medical Fair.

Lord, allow my group to perform to our expectations and more. Allow us to treat as many patients as possible and to screen them properly for further specialized referrals. Lord, this I ask in Jesus' Name.

Amen.

My partner and I are silly, sometimes, despite the fact that we are stern and strict individuals.
She doesn't joke around with colleagues, she is probably the smartest in her class, honestly, and many individuals in her class are intimidated by both her: 1) Beauty and 2) Intelligence.

I, on the other hand, adore it totally. For once, I have a partner that is on par with me. :)
I can talk business with her and keep up with me, we can switch from medical talk to personal sensual conversation, to political discussion to family relations, and back to work convo all in a lunch break. ha ha. She is in par with me.
She drives me insane.

I love it.

When she wears her medical scrubs, when I am lecturing in the Anatomy lab, I merely see her with her mask on, her goggles, and in full gear to proceed in abdominopelvic exploratory surgery,..I am turned on immediately.

A woman who knows what she wants, is determined to get it, intelligence before her, beauty that devastates her rivals, and the heart that is soft only to her lover...I love it.

Love it. :)

Book Reviews / Re: Surgeons Don't Cry: An Analysis
November 29, 2009, 09:30:40 AM
I am glad you liked the book, too, Raquel. There is a particular chapter that I like, Chapter 5, "Signs of Dysfunction" because I personally can attest to his message, considering he talks about his 2nd year of Medicine, and that I am currently in full charge of 2nd year medicine and currently being transitioned into my Medical Intern program.

This is a verse from Tiongco's work:
"In the second semester of our second year in medical school, we were gradually exposed to selected charity patients in the PGH. These were patients who displayed the typical manifestations of diseases described in our textbooks. Some patients had been there for quite some time and were kept in the wards for a bit longer for "instructional purposes".....But by and large, the charity patients usually showed a lot of graciousness and understood that these "pesky" people were the next generation of doctors who could later help other people by learning from their present situation.

I felt his message personally. Considering the fact that we deal with volunteer patients, as well as considering the fact that we medical students due tend to over simplify the fact that these patients are not just patients, or diagnostic tools or prognostic tools, but are also living, feeling, emotional human beings. They can cry, as we do, they feel as we do, they touch as we do, they live as we do as well as they have personal stories as we do.

In the march towards attaining the perfect grade, perfecting our auscultatory methods, our percussion methods, our palpation methods, our diagnostic methods, the use of medical terminology, and alienating the patient in order to protect our own mental abilities, we do tend to loose the human touch, if severed enough. It is important, definately to mantain a sense of respect and mutuality between the patient and the physician as the patient and the medical student.

When I am in the hospital floor and when I am talking to my patient, the patient sees immediately not my persona, but sees my white coat, my stethoscope, and my name tag. He sees the title, "Medical Student: 2nd Year" and immediately I can sense an aura of fear and defensive nature between him. It is the goal of the medical student to relax the patient, to allow him to be at ease, so as to make history taking, as well as prognosis to be effective.
Essential to the doctor-patient relationship is the issue of trust and reliability. We learn this early in our medical instructional years, I can personally attest to that.

Beyond scoring high marks on our exams, and competing with one another, as is will be the case between medical students, I am guilty of that, I must admit, we must also ascertain the ability to read the patient. It is essential and as what Tiongco later shares in his writings, is the basis of a 'Good Physician'.

Respect is earned. Respect is mandated, especially in the medical field. Not only respect for the physician, the attending, the resident or the medical intern, but most IMPORTANT is the respect for the patient.

Cheers,
Lorenzo

My uncle, Engr. Alex Salvo, who scored 2nd highest in the National Philippine Engineering Boards, has recently moved to Saudi as a Mining Engineer there, after many years as a veteran Engineer in Cebu.

There is never a 'too late' story. If there is a will, there is a way.

My uncle, Dr. Rene Lucino, M.D, who is a trained General Internist/Gastroenterologist, is currently in the U.K.
Even after many years as a practicing physician there in the Philippines.

So, there is no 'too late' story.

Put your faith in God, and for sure he will guide your steps.

Good Luck, Mr. Ferniz.

To my beloved mother,

Who can compare to you, mother, whose very sweat and sacrifice was my life's blood.
I owe everthing to thy warm embrace, and maternal support, guidance, and charisma, in so much as providing me with the emotional maturity to realize the meaning of love.

My dearest mother,
I am utterly missing you and father, your laughter, your voice that soothes and comforts your son. You and father are always in my prayers before I go to sleep at night, and are in my thoughts, always. Please know that your son is missing you, utterly.
And that I cannot wait till December 19,2009 when your beloved son shall be able to go back home for Winter Break.

And then, when I arrive at JFK International Airport in NYC, I shall see thy beloved splendid face, and embrace you, my mother, and adore you with kisses from your son!

Mother, I shall then abide in the warmth of home and enjoy family, Christmas and friends for holidays.
For your son has missed you so much. I have sacrificed for the sake of family and for the sake of studies, and it has always been you and father that has been an essential source of inspiration for me.

I adore and love you, Mom.
Your Son,
Ondoy Bran2x

PS. Send father my adoration and tightest hugs.

In my honest opinion, the ability for current lovers to exchange romantic correspondence in classic letter, illustrates the depth of their longing. Am an avid fan of Victorian-style letters, as well as the passionate letters that were written by Napoleon.

Is there such thing as a positive distraction?
For sure you are an example,
you have been nothing but positive distraction for me.

How can a woman increase my studying attention?
For sure you do have that effect on me.

Some say it is called, 'inspiration', I say it is 'Romantic epiphany'.
Because, woman, ever since I accepted the fact, my internal discourse no longer bothered me,
and acceptance of the fact, has only increased my feelings for you.
As it has been for you.

I shall toast to that, and leave it at that.

Cheers,

In the Year of Our Lord~ 2009.
In the month of November, on the 28th day of the month.

I am in silent contemplation right now.
The reason for this is that I am reviewing material as well as getting ready for tomorrow's Health Fair.
I am one of the group leaders of the Vitals Group, and am feeling nervous, anxious, excited. I must be in the medical campus by 7am tomorrow, as the Health Fair starts on 8am and shall end around 3-4pm. I will be there for 8 hours straight. We are estimating 600-1000 patients. So I will be seeing about that much, There are 15 of us in the Vitals group. and are expected to see at least 100 or so patients each.

I pray to God that He calms me, and make this smoothe.
That is how I am feeling right now.

I will leave for Church at 5pm my time, I pray that Church Mass will strengthen me and that the Eucharist will continue to uplift me. In His name, I pray.

Thanks for hearing me out, Blog.

Bible Study / I Rise Today
November 29, 2009, 02:43:51 AM
A beautiful prayer~

I arise today
Through a mighty strength, the invocation of the Trinity,
Through a belief in the Threeness,
Through confession of the Oneness
Of the Creator of creation.

I arise today
Through the strength of Christ's birth and His baptism,
Through the strength of His crucifixion and His burial,
Through the strength of His resurrection and His ascension,
Through the strength of His descent for the judgement of doom.

I arise today
Through the strength of the love of cherubim,
In obedience of angels,
In service of archangels,
In the hope of resurrection to meet with reward,
In the prayers of patriarchs,
In preachings of the apostles,
In faiths of confessors,
In innocence of virgins,
In deeds of righteous men.

I arise today
Through the strength of heaven;
Light of the sun,
Splendor of fire,
Speed of lightning,
Swiftness of the wind,
Depth of the sea,
Stability of the earth,
Firmness of the rock.

I arise today
Through God's strength to pilot me;
God's might to uphold me,
God's wisdom to guide me,
God's eye to look before me,
God's ear to hear me,
God's word to speak for me,
God's hand to guard me,
God's way to lie before me,
God's shield to protect me,
God's hosts to save me
From snares of the devil,
From temptations of vices,
From every one who desires me ill,
Afar and anear,
Alone or in a mulitude.

I summon today all these powers between me and evil,
Against every cruel merciless power that opposes my body and soul,
Against incantations of false prophets,
Against black laws of pagandom,
Against false laws of heretics,
Against craft of idolatry,
Against spells of smiths and wizards,
Against every knowledge that corrupts man's body and soul.
Christ shield me today
Against poison, against burning,
Against drowning, against wounding,
So that reward may come to me in abundance.

Christ with me, Christ before me, Christ behind me,
Christ in me, Christ beneath me, Christ above me,
Christ on my right, Christ on my left,
Christ when I lie down, Christ when I sit down,
Christ in the heart of every man who thinks of me,
Christ in the mouth of every man who speaks of me,
Christ in the eye that sees me,
Christ in the ear that hears me.

I arise today
Through a mighty strength, the invocation of the Trinity,
Through a belief in the Threeness,
Through a confession of the Oneness
Of the Creator of creation

In Jesus' Name.
AMEN.

Prayer for Strength For Tomorrow~~

Lord, I am no longer my own, but Yours. Put me to what You will, rank me with whom You will. Let be employed by You or laid aside for You, exalted for You or brought low by You. Let me have all things, let me have nothing, I freely and heartily yield all things to Your pleasure and disposal. And now, O glorious and blessed God, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, You are mine and I am Yours. So be it.

Give me a stout heart to bear my own burdens. Give me a willing heart to bear the burdens of others. Give me a believing heart to cast all burdens upon Thee, O Lord.

I beg in Jesus' Name.
Amen.

Bible Study / The Conversion of St. Paul
November 29, 2009, 02:15:32 AM

First Reading: Acts of the Apostles 22:3-16
"I am a Jew, born at Tarsus in Cilicia, but brought up in this city at the feet of Gamali-el, educated according to the strict manner of the law of our fathers, being zealous for God as you all are this day. I persecuted this Way to the death, binding and delivering to prison both men and women, as the high priest and the whole council of elders bear me witness. From them I received letters to the brethren, and I journeyed to Damascus to take those also who were there and bring them in bonds to Jerusalem to be punished.

"As I made my journey and drew near to Damascus, about noon a great light from heaven suddenly shone about me. And I fell to the ground and heard a voice saying to me, 'Saul, Saul, why do you persecute Me?' And I answered, 'Who are you, Lord?' And He said to me, 'I am Jesus of Nazareth whom you are persecuting.' Now those who were with me saw the light but did not hear the voice of the One who was speaking to me. And I said, 'What shall I do, Lord?' And the Lord said to me, 'Rise, and go into Damascus, and there you will be told all that is appointed for you to do.' And when I could not see because of the brightness of that light, I was led by the hand by those who were with me, and came into Damascus.

"And one Ananias, a devout man according to the law, well spoken of by all the Jews who lived there, came to me, and standing by me said to me, 'Brother Saul, receive your sight.' And in that very hour I received my sight and saw him. And he said, 'The God of our fathers appointed you to know His will, to see the Just One and to hear a voice from His mouth; for you will be a witness for Him to all men of what you have seen and heard. And now why do you wait? Rise and be baptized, and wash away your sins, calling on His name.'

I hope you did too.

Spending time with you is always beautiful.

You can do it, sweetheart.
You can do it, and more.

A Prayer~

Father, make of me a crisis man. Bring those I contact to decision. Let me not be a milepost on a single road; make me a fork, that men must turn one way or another on facing Christ in me.

Teach us, good Lord, to serve Thee as Thou deservest: To give and not to count the cost; To fight and not to heed the wounds; To toil and not to seek for rest; To labour and not ask for any reward, save that of knowing that we do Thy will.

In Jesus' Name.
Amen.

Book Reviews / Surgeons Don't Cry: An Analysis
November 29, 2009, 12:26:46 AM
I have read Dr. Ting Tiongco's famous piece, Surgeons Don't Cry over 2 times and have come to really love this book. This literary piece, for me, explains the everyday schedule of the striving medical student, and the experiences of a physician in a fragile society, a society with a growing demand for medical care. The book is divided into 37 chapters, which illustrates the author's personal testimony in his glorious rise throughout his medical career, his blood, sweat, tears, his personal observations, his experiences with friends, interesting and unique individuals that have imprinted into Tiongco's memory and worthy of being remembered that they were included in his work, albeit the fact that he only mentions their first name or refers to them in simplistic single letters, marvelous.

I was touched by this book, which was given to me by a good friend, Grace, and a fellow Tubag Bohol Blogger.

This thread will be for the discussion of this book, feel free to join and add your personal input regarding the book.

Best,
Lorenzo

Dear Friends,

Our Medical School will be holding our annual Health Care tomorrow on Sunday, November 29, 2009.
There will be 5 stations, and about 50 some medical students partaking in the event, as well as 15 attending physicians.
We are estimating to host about 600-1000 patients for tomorrow's event.
We will be doing everything: vitals assessment, glucose treatment, diabetic foot care, dental assessment, neurological examination, urinalysis, blood analysis, basic surgical procedures, as well as providing physicals etc.

I ask that all of you put a special prayer for all of us, all 50 medical students including myself, and our attending physicians, that we will be able to care for enough patients, that all will be assessed, that our medical equipment and supplies will be enough to target the entire patient base, that our food resources will last, that there will be no problems, that the health of the patients will be increased through this program. That everything runs smoothly through God's Perfect Guidance and Blessings.

Please pray for us, friends, I would truly appreciate it.

I shall post pictures of the event, after. I promise you that.
Advanced thanks for the prayers and thoughts. THANK YOU!
On Behalf of the SJSM College of medicine, our medical staff and the medical student body volunteers, the nurses and the allied health professional volunteers, THANK YOU!

Much Thanks,

Poems and Poets / The Reasons Why I Love You~
November 28, 2009, 11:47:26 PM
To my beloved and adored one;

There are many things that I find charismatic and genuine about you,
you see my sweet, I don't care for the complexities and the excessive wealth
that most of this world is so hastened and obsessed about, I could care less, about that.

What I do care about, my sweetest little flower, is being loved and to be able to love, completely.
From our conversations, which has a depth beyond comparison, I must infer, we see things eye to eye,
which I find rather complementary to my own. Your interests are similar to mine, for the most part, worthy of my time and my excellence in appropriating interest and investment in. For you have qualities that I look for in a woman, a partner, and for the mother of my future children. You have them. So I am amazed, agaped, awed, bedazzled, content, embelished, satisified, justified, encouraged, impressed, ecstatic, and most of all, glorified in God's goodness and grace.

You once asked me, 'What are the qualities that you don't like about me?'

I refused to answer that question or entertain it, and changed the topic completely, because, my dear sweet woman, there is nothing about you that I would change. I love you for the way you are, you emotionality, your spirituality, your faith, your physical beauty, your voice, your everything. Your flaws, your strengths, your weaknesses, everything. All of it. I want, I love, and I adore. The whole package, I want. The whole being, the whole person, I want. There are no intricaices that you have that I would have changed, none. Everything that you are, I have come to love and fallen in love with.

I love you for the way you are, your deepness, your longing, your breath, your voice, your faith in God--which is so deep like the waters of the sea, your love of family,  your devotion to your mother and father,  your caring and altruistic nature, how you give everything and all for your friends, you give 120% and expect nothing in return. I love it. I adore it. How you aim for the best, your intelligence which precedes and complements your beauty, which is beyond compare. It is proof of the Goodness of the Lord.

So I will list some of the things that I have come to appreciate and adore about you, which illustrates my love for you.
My appreciation for you, my total adoration for your entire being. Body and soul.

I love how you wake up in the morning, with gazing light brown eyes,
I love your lips, how they illustrate your emotions, your feelings, your uncertainties, your joys, your laughter,
I love your tongue--for out of your tongue, comes the  sweetest of words, or the sharpest of corrections, but out of your tongue, comes your praise for God. I love it.
I love you eyes, which gaze deeply into own. How it searches and yearns for my soul~ never have I found a woman so deep as you...for you are like me...are you like me, my sweet little songbird,~
I love your anger, passionate and just,
I love your voice, which can soothe my soul, and can put me to peace,
I love you longingness, longing for me, it brings extolling joy to my heart.
I love how you sing,
I love you you walk, you have a cute gait, ha ha
I love how you pinch me, when I say something 'dorkish',
I love how you stick your tongue at me when you're being silly.
I love how you try to cheer me up when I'm annoyed, irritated, and angry!
I love how you and I complement each other.
We get along so easily, you know?
We complement each other, accomodate each other,
I love how you sing to me,
I love how you appropriate time for me,
I love how you read my letters over and over and over again.
For you are taking the time to take in the full breadth of my persona, my own being.
Most of all, I love how you will wait for me.
Me and no other.

You said to me the other day, "I love your curly hair, our kids would be so handsome with their father's curly hair."

You already want to have kids with me.
Deep, woman. You are deep.
:)

That is why I know you are the one for me.
I want you to know, that I feel the same way. The same way.

My daring, my sweetest flower, my adored woman, my lady, my one and only,
I want you to know that I am so very happy to be around you.
Joy that extolls in my heart that cannot be described.

The Lord is Kind to both of us.
May the Lord always increase our love.
I love The Lord for allowing me to know the reasons why I love you.

With Kisses and my Softest Embrace,
Your One and Only,
A. Lorenzo Lucino Jr.

A Woman's Prayer for Her Lover:

Golden sunshine with tender glow,
Show him now the way to go,
Bright blue heavens up above,
Guide him into my life with love.

Send him here next to me,
Make this the place he wants to be,
Let him know he’s safe and sound,
With love and passion all around.

Teach him now to trust his heart,
Even though we are apart.
Let him see the fears I hide,
And the silent tears I’ve cried.

Heavenly father to you I pray,
That together we’ll be someday,
To live this love that we both share,
This will be my answered prayer.

Mexico, afterall, was then known as Nueva Espana and was the largest Viceroyalty outside of the Spanish central core. The Philippines were part of the administrative responsibilities of Nueva Espana prior to the outbreak of the Peninsulare War and before Mexico's declaration of independence from the Spanish Empire of the Kingdom of Spain.

Bolingitboy, thank you for that excellent historical lesson. Yes, you are right, the Spanish influence is, indeed, the uniting factor that link all three together. The cement.

I have a colleague who is a 3rd year medical student, his surname is 'Zamudio' and is a Spaniard, born and grew up in the city of Oviedo, Northern Spain. We always talk about history in our given free time, and we answer each other's question, and one conversation topic piece was his question concerning where I was from. I told him about Bohol, and Cebu as well as the concept of the Visayas etc. He was interested about the Philippines, and I showed him some pictures of the churches in Bohol: St. Joseph's Cathedral, the church in Valencia, the church in Garcia Hernandez etc, as well as the churches in Cebu etc. He commented how amazing it was to see that the old spanish churches have survived almost 200-300 years. The churches built in Cebu are identitical looking to the old churches in Northern Spain.

Now I wonder if the Spanish conquistadores, merchants and priests that came to settle and colonize central visayas, particularly Cebu were from Northern Spain or not. Considering the architectural similarities.

That and the fact that Cebu is also probably the most heavily Spanish influenced province in the entire Republic.
"The Queen City of the South"/ the First Spanish Colony in the Philippines, as it is known, afterall.

Its amazing tho, that in the lush green jungles of an Asian archipelago, the main structures that unites municipalities and regions are the churches.

Truly, the Philippines is the only Europeanized Nation in all of Asia.
We are truly a mixture of European (Spanish) and ethnic Malay and a sprinkle of Chinese.

I love it. Truly Unique.
That is why Filipinos adapt to any foreign environment, particularly in western environments.
Because, we have an innately Europeanized culture, and mentality.

He who comes to me shall not hunger
He who believes in me shall not thirst
No one can come to me

The bread that I will give
Is my flesh for the life of the world
And if you eat of this bread
You shall live forever(2)
Unless you eat
Of the flesh of the Son of Man
And drink of his blood,
And drink of his blood,
You shall not have life within you.
I am the resurrection, I am the life

please protect the one I love.

Lead her with your guiding light;

keep her safe both day and night.

Comfort her when things go wrong;

stay with her when nights are long.

Take my place when I’m not there;

tell her how I really care.

Make her know and make her see

this burning love inside of me.

Answer please her every cry;

make her know that my love won’t die.

Guard the one that I love so

no matter were she may go.

Keep her safe as safe can be;

Health and Food / UN Report: HIV Infections Down
November 26, 2009, 05:47:56 AM
(CNN) -- New HIV infections have fallen worldwide by 17 percent over the past eight years, a testament to prevention efforts, according to a U.N. report released Tuesday.
In addition, the number of people living with HIV, the virus that causes AIDS, has increased, and over the last five years, AIDS deaths have declined by 10 percent, thanks to antiretroviral drug therapy and access to lifesaving treatments, said the report by the Joint U.N. Program on HIV/AIDS and World Health Organization.
However, not all the news was good as researchers found evidence that some prevention programs miss the mark because they are not tailored for different populations affected by the epidemic.
Success was seen particularly in sub-Saharan Africa, where new infections declined about 15 percent, or some 400,000 people, according to the report.
However, that area remains the region hardest-hit by the virus, accounting for 67 percent of infections worldwide, the report said. "The epidemic continues to have an enormous impact on households, communities, businesses, public services and national economies in the region," it said.
In 2008, for instance, more than 14.1 million children in sub-Saharan Africa were estimated to have lost one or both parents to AIDS.
In East Asia, new infections declined by nearly 25 percent, and by 10 percent in South and Southeast Asia, the organizations said. In Eastern Europe, a region that had seen a dramatic increase in new infections among intravenous drug users, "the epidemic has leveled off considerably," the report said.
In Eastern Europe and Central Asia, an HIV epidemic that once resulted from injected drug use is spreading to the sexual partners of those drug users, according to the report. And in some parts of Asia, heterosexual couples are being affected. The prevalence of HIV continues to increase in those regions because of the new infections, the report said.
And in Swaziland in southern Africa, more than two-thirds of adult infections occur in people 25 and older, but few programs are aimed at those adults, the report said.
While the decline in new infections is welcome, "if we do a better job of getting resources and programs to where they will make most impact, quicker progress can be made and more lives saved," said Michael Sidibe, executive director of UNAIDS in Geneva, Switzerland.
There is also an increased evidence of risk among key populations, the report said. For instance, although high prevalence among sex workers has been widely noted, evidence was limited on the prevalence among men engaging in homosexual activity and intravenous drug users.
"In recent years, studies have documented elevated levels of infection in these populations in nearly all regions," according to the report. "In all settings and for diverse types of epidemics, it is clear that programs to prevent new infections among these key populations must constitute an important part of national AIDS responses."
Also, the level of resources directed at prevention programs for those key groups is "typically quite low, even in concentrated epidemics," according to the report. Another shortage can be seen in the programs that are designed for people living with HIV.

Bible Study / The Doctrine of Forgiveness
November 26, 2009, 05:29:36 AM
Source: www.studytheword.citymax.com

The act of excusing or pardoning another in spite of his slights, shortcomings, and errors. As a theological term, forgiveness refers to God's pardon of the sins of human beings.

No religious book except the Bible teaches that God completely forgives sin (Ps 51:1,9; Isa 38:17; Heb 10:17). The initiative comes from Him (John 3:16; Col 2:13) because He is ready to forgive (Luke 15:11-32). He is a God of grace and pardon (Neh 9:17; Dan 9:9).

Sin deserves divine punishment because it is a violation of God's holy character (Gen 2:17; Rom 1:18-32; 1 Peter 1:16), but His pardon is gracious (Ps 130:4; Rom 5:6-8). In order for God to forgive sin, two conditions are necessary. A life must be taken as a substitute for that of the sinner (Lev 17:11,14; Heb 9:22), and the sinner must come to God's sacrifice in a spirit of repentance and faith (Mark 1:4; Acts 10:43; James 5:15).

Forgiveness in the New Testament is directly linked to Christ (Acts 5:31; Col 1:14), His sacrificial death on the cross (Rom 4:24), and His resurrection (2 Cor 5:15). He was the morally perfect sacrifice (Rom 8:3), the final and ultimate fulfillment of all Old Testament sacrifices (Heb 9:11-10:18). Since He bore the law's death penalty against sinners (Gal 3:10-13), those who trust in His sacrifice are freed from that penalty. By faith sinners are forgiven-"justified" in Paul's terminology (Rom 3:28; Gal 3:8-9). Those who are forgiven sin's penalty also die to its controlling power in their lives (Rom 6).

Christ's resurrection was more than proof of His deity or innocence; it was related in a special way to His forgiveness. Christ's resurrection was an act by which God wiped out the false charges against Him; it was God's declaration of the perfect righteousness of His Son, the Second Adam, and of His acceptance of Christ's sacrifice (1 Tim 3:16). Because He has been acquitted and declared righteous, this is also true for those whom He represents. Thus, Christ's resurrection was a necessary condition for the forgiveness of man's sins (1 Cor 15:12-28). To be forgiven is to be identified with Christ in His crucifixion and resurrection.
Christ has the authority to forgive sins (Matt 1:21; Heb 9:11-10:18). This forgiveness is an essential part of the gospel message (Acts 2:38; 5:31). But blasphemy against the Holy Spirit (attributing to Satan a deed done by Jesus through the power of God's Spirit) is an unpardonable sin (Mark 3:28-29) - not because God cannot or will not forgive such a sin but because such a hard-hearted person has put himself beyond the possibility of repentance and faith.

God's forgiveness of us demands that we forgive others, because grace brings reponsibility and obligation (Matt 18:23-35; Luke 6:37). Jesus placed no limits on the extent to which Christians are to forgive their fellowmen (Matt 18:22,35; Luke 17:4). A forgiving spirit shows that one is a true follower of Christ (Matt 5:43-48; Mark 11:25).

Poems and Poets / And Lady Declares, 'You are Mine'.
November 26, 2009, 05:19:22 AM
Woman,
Am I  your possession?
Who can claim me as their own?
I am my own, my soul is my own,
I am my own, my heart is my own,
I am my own, my body is my own,
I am my own, my life is my own.

Tho, I must jest, that love is something that I give.
And I give it freely,
It is  yours.

My love is yours.
In that sense, I am  yours.
Do not be jealous, my love,
for those women whom I associate with are but colleagues and associates.

Who are they when compared to you?
Nothing.

You are my own, my only love.
I choose to be with you,
I choose you to be my love,
I choose to court you.
You and no other.

So do not be jealous.
You and no other.

I shall kiss you with a thousand kisses,
and embrace you in totality.

Contain your emotions, my love.
They cannot compare to you.

In adoration,
~Lorenzo

Lady of Love,
Woman of my youth,
The recipient of my adoration and love,
the night that we lay in rapture,
was exquisite to the touch,
pleasure indisputable,
and passion so made manifest that sings Glory to God's Goodness.

The living exemplary to the message of the Book of Songs,
my sweetest dove,
my delicate flower,
how I observed your skin upon my skin.
My skin upon your skin,
how much we are alike,
how beautiful it is....

To fall in love to a woman of my fatherland's shores.
Can glory be enough to proclaim before the Filipina?

Who can compare to thy sweetness,
thy recompense?
thy love, which stands testament to my own, that beckons for thy lover.

Soft it is thy precious eloquence,
your sweet lips upon the soft embraces of my touch,
that would so much honor me in sublime company.

Shall I recite again?
For you, I shall claim the stars...

The Lord God is Kind and Precious In His Promises,
For sure the Lord is Kind and Trustworthy In His Deliberations.
With His right hand He raises the poor, the striving, the learning, and those who trust in His Word to success,
with his left hand he pummels and humbles the strong, the arrogant, the proud, the wicked in heart,

And the Lord is my confidence in all things,
Ye I am a weak student, yet my faith in the Lord's blessings shall anoint me in my pursuits,
for the Lord is kind to those who acknowledges their weaknesses, and seeks His Guidance.
For the Lord's hand is mighty and great, great enough to complement the weakness of those who trust in Him.
The Lord is the rock in whom I stand,
Whose footing and firmament is unshakable.

And even if the wicked tongues of the lot curse about me,
I shall not take them into consideration,
for the Lord is my confidence and my armour,
in whose Grace, I am sheltered and protected.
Hark, my faith is in the LORD,
my God and my SAVIOR.

The Lord proclaims, "Study!"
and I shall study.

The Lord proclaims, "Attain!"
and I shall attain.

If the Lord shall proclaim, "Humble yourself under my Hand!"
I shall scatter and humble myself,
for His greatness is infinite,
and His power uncountable.

He corrects and He shall discipline me,
ye, He shall, for it is written:
My son, do not despise the Lord's discipline and do not resent his rebuke, because the Lord disciplines those he loves, as a father the son he delights in.
Proverbs 3:11-12

Ye the Lord is my Confidence.
Ye the Lord is my Father God.
In whose Mighty Hand, I shall claim my hedgeway,
In whose Prudence and Justice, I shall cry out for His mercy.

Eternal Glory, Honor, and Praise be to God the Father.
Who is LORD OF ALL.

In Jesus' Name.
Amen.

I know a great surgeon in the hospital floor.

He is handsome, deliberate, confident, he delivers, he excels in all that he does.

A patient once asked him, "Dr., why are you so confident? You look good, you are intelligent, and you deliver what you promise, tell me the secret in your abilities? Do you think you are the best?"

The esteemed surgeon, in a smile and confident tone replied,

"Mrs______, I know what I am talking about because I attended a prestigious medical school, am board certified, in Cardiothoracic surgery and have trained and was trained by esteemed colleagues, I deliver because I have performed hundreds of surgeries and have excelled and perfected techniques by practice and repetition. I am confident, because Christ is my strength. And that I can do all things that I put my mind in for Jesus Christ is my Confidence."

The patient smiled. And was ecstatic to hear his reply.

He then performed a triple bypass on this said patient.
In the process, saving her life.

Point of the matter: CONFIDENCE IN CHRIST.  ;)

Lord,

Today Lord I am writing in the library of the SJSM College of medicine, it is 2:29 pm,
and I am sitting with my papers and my books, my notes before me, my cell phone is turned on,
as I am waiting for a call, my flash drive in my laptop to read a slide that i have to review later today.

Lord, I almost forgot today, but I was reminded to ask your mercy and grace,
Father,
Today is November 25, 2009.
It is literally 20 days before I receive my white coat, Lord.
How did I survive the grueling 2 years of medicine, Lord?
I could not have survived this or accomplished all that I have without you, Father.
Kai in my times that i was here in the library, or in my apartment or in my friend's house in our reviews,
in the wee hours of the night, with 2 cups of coffee already downed, and still more to go,
with the sweat, with all the streses, with all the doubts of passing exams, with all the doubts of completley understanding and ascertaining the goal, when I needed you the most, and when I was crying after only having 3-4 hours of sleep for 4-5 days straight, I always was strengthened by your word and your presence.

You never left my side when i needed you the most,
you were there with me in my weakest of moments, when i was drained physically, when i was lonely emotionally,
when i was missing my family, friends, and loved ones, you were there to comfort me and to fill the void that was in my heart. YOu filled me, Lord. Fill me, Lord.

All that I am, Lord, am because of you.
For you have seen through my weaknesses, and my failures, yet you still have given me victory through these exams. YOu have given me the gift of the ability to love another as I would have loved. You have given me the strength to move on after tragedy, purify me , Lord, Purify me. Strengthen me, Lord, strengthen me.

Lord, in 20 days I will receive my white coat.
I want to shout in joy for this feeing, for this honor that you have given me.
But I want give the glory to you, Lord.
I want to give you the praise,
I want to give you the honor,
I want to give you the glory,
I want to give you the credit for this priviledge that you have allowed for me.
Because, Lord, without you....i am nothing.
But with you...I can do all things that I put my mind in.
For you are my rock, my justication, and my Confidence.

I Sing Victory!
Victory to Jesus Christ!
Victory IN Jesus Christ!

Thank you for this Victory....

Bless you, Lord, I bless the Name of Jesus...
Bless the Lord, my soul, Bless the Lord, you all Nations..
for the Lord is Good.
Bless the Lord for His promise is Sweet as Nectar and as strong as Midday.
Bless the Lord for His Recompense is Mighty and True.

In Jesus' Name.
Amen.

Dearest Mr. Macky Ferniz,

Pleas know that you are in my prayers to perform in the best of your ability for these exams. I wish for you the fluidity in mind to recall the key concepts and to deliver in the best of your ability during the examination. May the Grace of God complement your understanding of the given subject matter.

I pray with you in the attainment of Victory.
Ask and it shall be given,
Knock and the door shall be opened for you.

I ask this in Jesus' Name.

Usher a silent prayer of thanks, and strength to excel in what I must do for that day; then get up, take a shower, brew coffee, look at my daily planner, strategize how i will go about in accomplishing the day's requirements, follow-up on work, and deliver.

The Lord is My Strength.
