Youth music group launched at ICM on Nov. 27
« on: November 05, 2009, 09:11:42 AM »
Hi TB Friends,

Nais ko po kayong i-invite sa launching ng Christian youth music group who call themselves M316 sa ICM Activity Center on November 27, 2009, from 6:30 to 8:30 PM.

Hear the youth express themselves through music that heals the heart and soul. Free po ito.

I organized this event with the youth music team of the March of Faith to support the young in their creative endeavors in ways that develop their potentials for the glory of God.

Maraming salamat po sa ating sponsors na Bohol Beach Club, 18 K Fashion Gallery, Master's Link Travel & Tours, Ellan Joy, Baseteres Dry Goods and Jewelynne.

Aasahan ko po kayong lahat.

Let's hear the young praise God! M316 is short for Mission 3:16 in John 3:16

The youth music team of March of Faith.

John 3:16-18 ESV
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son (Jesus Christ), that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.

Lynne just buzzed me to remind all of you who are now in Tagbilaran to treat yourself to  soul-caressing music tonight at the ICM Activity Center from 6:30 PM. Let's support our youth  who wish to express their creative energy through music...

Karong gabii na ni! Open to the public for free! It's Friday night, you deserve to have some nice, clean fun!

Thanks to all those who supported this event. It was very successful. Youth bands from other churches are requesting to join next time, so Lynne and I are planning something bigger to be participated in by different churches at least within Tagbilaran next year.

Here are some of the photos taken during the launching of the youth contemporary Christian music band, calling themselves M316, in our church in Tagbilaran, March of Faith.

M316? I was also clueless as to why these young musicians chose this name. It may either sound like a deadly weapon or a music gadget, depending on your age and interest.

But to the spunky youth of our church, the name is taken from John 3:16 which says, "For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.

What really touched me about them is that they are brimming with creativity in their expression of praise.

Aside from the four walls of the church, they have never performed in a public venue as big as ICM. It was daunting, but challenges are made for the youth and the young at heart.

They've always shared with me their desire to have their own CD of youthful Christian music. I just tell them, "Reach for your dreams. That's why God makes us young once in our life. The Bible says, 'Honor God while you are still young.'"

If your music connects with one or two in the audience, and plants the seed there for them to seek God, that's more than enough recompense for all your efforts.

Psalm 8:2 From the lips of children and infants you have ordained praise

Since two of my kids are also teenagers, who are still adjusting to their new environment in the Philippines, I decided to make the youth my special ministry in the church for my kids to be able to connect to their musically creative brethren and kith.

I am also glad to be able to make use of my event-organizing skills in Japan, especially during my marketing stint with ABS-CBN Global, to be able to nourish the spiritual gifts of these youngsters.

Again, thanks to Bohol Beach Club, 18 K Fashion Gallery, Master's Link Travel & Tours, Ellan Joy, Baseteres Dry Goods and Jewelynne for the sponsorship which covered the venue rental fee.

Hi Melrose,

Glad to see you back in Bohol. Maybe we can schedule this sometime next year since we plan to expand the involvement of youth in this event. Himuon natong joint project ni, Vids. Actually, wala'y professional training ning mga bata. They practiced by themselves. In fact, after Lynne reserved the venue and solicited sponsorships to cover the rental, she flew here in Japan and went back to Tagbilaran a week before the event. Kung naa pay mag-train nila, mas maayo tingali ang ilang performance. Last night, the youth band met at our house and Lynne informed them that she has received inquiries for them to perform at wedding events next year. With more training and exposure, these youngsters could really make good use of their talents. I told Lynne they could pool the proceeds as scholarship fund for their college.

Unsa ma'y plano ninyo, Vids. You're still based in Manila?
