Inspiration & Hope / Re: Being Too Naive
September 19, 2007, 01:07:03 AM
It is your physical appearance or action that makes people think you are naive/naivete.

However, outside appearance of a person does not necessarily correlate with mental competency and sense of responsibility.

The fact that nobody can read others mind is a gift from God. Only you knows what you are thinking and nobody knows your plans.

The largest banana variety collection in the world is in Belgium, where banana will only grow in Greenhouses. It includes our very own variety of tundan, sarabia, lakatan...etc.

They keep these genetic material frozen in liquid nitrogen. It is a safe haven for bananas incase of a plague so any variety will not die out.

It is hosted by the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven in Belgium, the International Transit Centre (ITC) holds the International Musa Germplasm Collection, at more than 1000 varieties, including wild relatives.

This is another long long time ago in a galaxy far far away.

Good to you Jeroen Hellingman, you have more and more supporters. People of Bohol have awaken to the reality. I have read your article "An International Airport in Panglao makes no economic sense". Folks, Jeroen Hellingman campaigned against this before Tubag Bohol was born.

By the way, welcome to tubag bohol "Renegade" you are the most vulgar member I've ever read. I enjoyed your comments.

If I'm not mistaken, this is the third report of mismanagement against DENR Officials in just a month.

Boholanos do not need incompetent officials.

RIP....and condolence for her Family.

My girlfriend  she died at the age of 23 our  Miss UB Personality way back 1973-74, Miss Yolanda Cabido! She have not seen the photos from the University Days street parade. She had that so called pure Boholana Beauty.

Bambi,

That was a long long time ago in a galaxy far far away.

As a child, pirmi lang kong kakita ug panty ug mga nindot nga legs. How about you Bam, can you show us some of your old pictures?

At that time, kontra pa kaayo ang Holy Name ug Palma. Kung naay parade ang Palma dili ka agi sa Holy Name and vise versa. Uso adto ang mga psychedelic nga design, naa gani ko poster nga akong gi tago sa akong album, free sa coke.

It was the glory days of Maharlika, Pilipinas, Melrose ug Royal Theatre. Wala pay Quality Theatre. Wala pay agora, isdaan pa ug tabo-an, pero naa na ang Farmacia Libertad. Wala pay Alturas, manukan pa dihang dapita. Not far from that time, na sunog ang mercado that prompted the city to build the Agora.

How was my history Bam? So tungod nimo mi tipas ang dagan ning atong topic. By the way Bam, about your inquiry of Baloloy, akong pangutan-on akong suod amigo nga si Jess Butalid, naa sa Riyadh. Kauban man mi ug kompanya diri sa KSA niadtong Gulf War (Invasion of Kuwait) kauban mig likay-likay sa scud missile.

Tuod diay condolence to the Veloso - Datoy Family.

I thought it was 911 Radio which I earlier suggested as better alternative for a formation of a Death Squad.

We have brave security guards and concerned private citizens that we do not need a Death Squad anymore in Tagbilaran.

Daghang salamat kaninyo.

Further, I have made a research about libel and I have found this:

Such law must be changed so reporters can not be charged for reporting erroneous report. Such as the Judge can not be charged for handing a wrong verdict.

Title Thirteen

CRIMES AGAINST HONOR

Chapter One
LIBEL

Section One. â€" Definitions, forms, and punishment of this crime.

Art. 353. Definition of libel. â€" A libel is public and malicious imputation of a crime, or of a vice or defect, real or imaginary, or any act, omission, condition, status, or circumstance tending to cause the dishonor, discredit, or contempt of a natural or juridical person, or to blacken the memory of one who is dead.

Art. 354. Requirement for publicity. â€" Every defamatory imputation is presumed to be malicious, even if it be true, if no good intention and justifiable motive for making it is shown, except in the following cases:
1. A private communication made by any person to another in the performance of any legal, moral or social duty; and
2. A fair and true report, made in good faith, without any comments or remarks, of any judicial, legislative or other official proceedings which are not of confidential nature, or of any statement, report or speech delivered in said proceedings, or of any other act performed by public officers in the exercise of their functions.

Art. 355. Libel means by writings or similar means. â€" A libel committed by means of writing, printing, lithography, engraving, radio, phonograph, painting, theatrical exhibition, cinematographic exhibition, or any similar means, shall be punished by prision correccional in its minimum and medium periods or a fine ranging from 200 to 6,000 pesos, or both, in addition to the civil action which may be brought by the offended party.

If said act is not of a serious nature, the penalty shall be arresto menor or a fine not exceeding 200 pesos.

Section Two. â€" General provisions

Art. 360. Persons responsible. â€" Any person who shall publish, exhibit, or cause the publication or exhibition of any defamation in writing or by similar means, shall be responsible for the same.
The author or editor of a book or pamphlet, or the editor or business manager of a daily newspaper, magazine or serial publication, shall be responsible for the defamations contained therein to the same extent as if he were the author thereof.

The criminal and civil action for damages in cases of written defamations as provided for in this chapter, shall be filed simultaneously or separately with the court of first instance of the province or city where the libelous article is printed and first published or where any of the offended parties actually resides at the time of the commission of the offense: Provided, however, That where one of the offended parties is a public officer whose office is in the City of Manila at the time of the commission of the offense, the action shall be filed in the Court of First Instance of the City of Manila, or of the city or province where the libelous article is printed and first published, and in case such public officer does not hold office in the City of Manila, the action shall be filed in the Court of First Instance of the province or city where he held office at the time of the commission of the offense or where the libelous article is printed and first published and in case one of the offended parties is a private individual, the action shall be filed in the Court of First Instance of the province or city where he actually resides at the time of the commission of the offense or where the libelous matter is printed and first published: Provided, further, That the civil action shall be filed in the same court where the criminal action is filed and vice versa: Provided, furthermore, That the court where the criminal action or civil action for damages is first filed, shall acquire jurisdiction to the exclusion of other courts: And, provided, finally, That this amendment shall not apply to cases of written defamations, the civil and/or criminal actions which have been filed in court at the time of the effectivity of this law.

Preliminary investigation of criminal action for written defamations as provided for in the chapter shall be conducted by the provincial or city fiscal of the province or city, or by the municipal court of the city or capital of the province where such action may be instituted in accordance with the provisions of this article.

No criminal action for defamation which consists in the imputation of a crime which cannot be prosecuted de oficio shall be brought except at the instance of and upon complaint expressly filed by the offended party. (As amended by R.A. 1289, approved June 15, 1955, R.A. 4363, approved June 19, 1965).

Art. 361. Proof of the truth. â€" In every criminal prosecution for libel, the truth may be given in evidence to the court and if it appears that the matter charged as libelous is true, and, moreover, that it was published with good motives and for justifiable ends, the defendants shall be acquitted.
Proof of the truth of an imputation of an act or omission not constituting a crime shall not be admitted, unless the imputation shall have been made against Government employees with respect to facts related to the discharge of their official duties.

In such cases if the defendant proves the truth of the imputation made by him, he shall be acquitted.

Art. 362. Libelous remarks. â€" Libelous remarks or comments connected with the matter privileged under the provisions of Article 354, if made with malice, shall not exempt the author thereof nor the editor or managing editor of a newspaper from criminal liability.

Wala nako matugkad kini nga istorya.

First of all, a report from a licensed journalist is not a valid evidence of libel. A reporter speaks/writes as he is the observer and relay the report to his audience.

However, if the report is in a form of commentary, then the journalist can be liable of his words.

In America, anybody can write /speak against President Bush, link him with all the conspiracies of the world, and still walk a free man.

We must revise our law to put a sort of imunity to reporters/journalists. This is important to have a transparent government.

I see most of our journalists are scared and dictated. Sorry to say that.

World Daily News / Re: Dagat - New source of Fuel???

Actually, what they will do is build a sort of Nuclear reactor type structure and the heat generated from separating hydrogen will turn water into steam. It is the steam that drives the turbine and generate electricity.

This electricity will then be stored in batteries for charging stations, where electric and hybrid cars are charging their cars. At this time, it is wise to buy hybrid cars.

On the other hand, I'm still worried that China might steal this technology and use it without regulation to fuel their energy hungry industry. China are known to be technology thieves.

Since we are near China, we are going to be affected by a massive heat wave.

These are just a few of Bohols wonders.

There are more scenic places of Bohol yet to be discovered.

My non-boholano friends told me about their exploration in Bohol. Unfortunately, I have not explored Bohol much. One of my friends told me that there is a place in Bohol where you stand on a cliff and below is filled with fog in early morning as if it is a sea of smoke.

Actually, there are two sides of this story. Looking at the good side, this would benefit too many people, but a world regulatory body should be established.

This would cut off the greenhouse gasses.

World Daily News / Re: Dagat - New source of Fuel???
September 16, 2007, 12:35:24 AM
On the contrary, this gives me worries.

My first concern is, where does all the heat go?
We all know that energy produces heat and a 3000 degree heat in just a small scale experiment would transform into a massive heat in an industrial scale. This would therefore escalate our global warming problem that would melt the Earth's ice caps in a catastrophical proportion.

With this discovery, Noah's Ark scenario is not far from repeating.

During my highschool year's I was very fund of energy from water, that I deeply followed the experiment of Pons and Flieschmann, which is the "Cold Fussion". However, these two scientists were mysteriously silenced. They were using the cathode & anode system to separate the hydrogen from plain water, thus creating heat on the process.

I thougth should they succeed, it would be the end of the world, sea level would rise and sunk our islands, Philippines would be badly affected including Bohol.

Talk of the Town / Re: Proposal: The Order of Tuasan Malea
September 15, 2007, 11:08:40 PM
You just have to change the Jedi to Tuasan Malea or TM or Maleans or Tuasans and the Galaxy change to BOHOL and thats it:

There is no emotion; there is peace.
There is no ignorance; there is knowledge.
There is no passion; there is serenity.
There is no chaos; there is harmony.
There is no death; there is the Force (life everlasting)

Furthermore;

TM's are the guardians of peace in BOHOL.
TM's use their abilities/skills/influence to defend and protect, never to take advantage/attack others specially the less fortunate.
TM's respect all life, in any form, like the fragile ecosystem of Bohol.
TM's serve others rather than ruling over them, for the good of the BOHOL.
TM's seek to improve themselves through knowledge, training, research education & ethical business practices.

Actually, when legaspi encountered the people of Bohol, it was like an encounter with alien civilization, where no European have ever been. So it needs a great amount of diplomacy to be built between two totally different culture.

Moreover, this Star War thing gives me a deep spiritual insight, a manifistation between good and evil.

I have researched this article about George Lucas, the writer of Star Wars as follows:

Dick Staub, author of Christian Wisdom of the Jedi Masters, in an interview with Christianity Today, said he feels "the Lucas story is more theologically attuned with Hinduism". George Lucas states he has been influenced by Christianity, Buddhism and other Indian religions in writing the Star Wars saga. Many Christian fans apparently connect the Force with the concept of the Holy Spirit.

Quote from: Franklin on September 14, 2007, 05:11:21 AM
Hmmm maybe a thought, let's make Tagbilaran just like Manila. Lots of people, and money. Oh sure it doesn't have the beauty any more and the air is impoossible to breath. Is air supposed to be green? When you see Manila from the air, if you can see Manila at all because of the smog, the air looks green.
Actually, I think the idea is not to turn a natural gem like Bohol, into another Manila. Everyone in the Philippines knows and loves Bohol for its natural beauty. Natural beauty stays beautiful because it is missed or too hard fro the money grubbing developers to destroy it. Once gone the natural beauty will not be there. It will be gone.
If you want night clubs and casinos and jets spewing their noise and exhaust, if you want everything to be more open to outsiders, then so be it.Let the oil wells destroy the water between Bohol and Cebu.
Let it rip the land apart to make it easy for everyone to come and say, "Tarsiers used to live here before they went extinct."
I say take it slow and think about it. Then you can always do it; but, after, you won't be able to fix God's work that broken by greedy men.

Good Franklin. Respect all life in any form.

For Boss Intong: Bitaw, bata ko ani nga isyo. Nagplano pa mi nga mopalit ug part sa old airport kay ibaligya kuno sa public kay ibalhin sa Panglao. SK (Sobra Kwarenta) na lang ko wala pa mahitabo.

Economically, we are not prepared to have an in ternational airport. It does'nt make sense at all. Ang Panglao second best lang compared to Boracay. So let's first promote our tourism industry before we invest in an airport.

It is like building the roof first before the foundation. Let us develop tourism industry to the fullest and if we become filthy rich for that, maybe we could think about building an airport.

If there is an international airport in Bohol, I would not dare using it. I prefer going through more stop-overs, i.e. Hong-Kong -Manila-Cebu-and Bohol by Supercat. I love seeing other places before reaching my destination. That's what is the mentality of a tourist, to see places, to experience.

I have a message to those who want the fast lane, heavy traffic, night life. Only two words: "Leave Bohol". I guess that solves your problem.

Dear Happy,

Thank you for your support and help.

Prestige is in the name itself Boholano "Overseas" Workers, etc. and something to be proud of, dili kini basta-basta.

I will give you a scenario 1 or 2 years from now, on your vacation to Bohol, you will pass by the BOWACCC Bank and you will proudly say to your friends "I am one of the Owner". Isn't it nice to imagine.

What I mean is, should this bank be realized, which is not far from reality, it is an icon of Boholano endeavour (sweat, blood, tears.... you know what I mean).

Once again, appreciate your help in telling your friends.

N.B. Kung dunay gustong magpamiembro, sultihi lang ko. Its just a small portion of your huge income and it is preparing Boholanos for re-integration, to keep some savings. Nobody will work abroad forever, someday they will embrace once more their beloved land Bohol.

I could not sleep thinking about this report.

First of all, to whom they have directed their inquiry? This report is not comprehensive.

If it is to the Department of Energy or the DENR, then they are just wasting time. These agencies are proponents of this project. Of course no theif will announce its intentions.

They must inquire from a credible, independent third party agency. One of them is UN's WWF.

One must have Captain Jean-Luc Picard's wit and diplomacy (of USS Enterprise) and a cause of a Jedi Order (to fight for peace and justice). Mixture of startrek and starwars.

Bitaw kining mga movies kung imong analyzon ma apply baya ni sa real life. You just have to remove the special effects and its essence could be useful to reality.

The Jedi code could be used for the Order of Tuasan Malea:

Becoming a Jedi requires the most profound commitment and astute mind, as Jedi instruction is rigidly structured and codified to enforce discipline and hinder transgression. The Jedi Code is portrayed as being the central philosophy and dogma of the Jedi Knights. However, throughout all of these changes there was a central, core part of the code that remained the fundamental belief of a Jedi.

There is no emotion; there is peace.
There is no ignorance; there is knowledge.
There is no passion; there is serenity.
There is no chaos; there is harmony.
There is no death; there is the Force
There is no chaos; there is harmony

Furthermore;

Jedi are the guardians of peace in the galaxy.
Jedi use their powers to defend and protect, never to attack others.

Jedi serve others rather than ruling over them, for the good of the galaxy.
Jedi seek to improve themselves through knowledge and training.

We need an Order of Tuasan Malea for the Land acquisition in Panglao.

We need an Order of Tuasan Malea to negotiate a win-win deal for any exploitation of our provincial wealth, like Oil Reserve, Limestone, Copper...etc.

Maybe this is out of topic, but I have some facts to share.

The key word for population control is not abstinence, but birth control methods. There is no intensified effort from the government to promote population control. In some parts of the world, they are imposing taxes on the second child.

I heared some facts about Sweden that sex is just a casual thing and some do it in public. But their population remains controlled. There is even an ex porn star who run for Mayor in Sweden and won, maybe that was in 2005.

Another fact is the lowest population growth rate in the world is in Italy. Children are so rare that they have to close a kindergarten school in one town.

Hence, no wonder these countries are rich because GNP & per capita is the nation's wealth divided by the population. The lesser the population, the better is the education, the more health benefits, less pollution (more ratio of doctors vs. patients, more ratio of teachers vs. students...etc.)... moreover, there are more jobs vs. workers that they have to hire us (outsourcing).
#2337
This is just a joke, but I think the person who really is obsessed on building an International Airport is the one who always remembers the word "Airport" when he looks himself at the mirror every morning.

I guess you are familiar with him.

Bohol Directory / Re: Awit Sa Bohol (Bisayan Version)
September 10, 2007, 02:41:40 AM
More info:

The Awit sa Bohol or Bohol Hymn is the official provincial hymn of the province of Bohol, Philippines. The lyrics and music were written by Justino "Ning" Romea and arrangement was made by Ms. Maxelende Ganade. The original lyrics are in Boholano with an available English version. The Cebuano translation is credited to Ms. Maxelende Ganade.During every program or gatherings, the Boholanos sing the Bohol Hymn after the Philippine National Anthem. Kini si Maxelende Ganade, amo ning maestra ug music sa HSS ug auntie sa akong classmate nga si Suzanne Ganade.

According to Bohol.ph: "The Boholanos are a freedom loving and independent people, who take pride in their Island, wherever they are. No wonder, the province even has its own provincial anthem"

Bohol Hymn
(English version)
This is the land I love,
The land God gave to me,
Caressed by the sun,
Bathed by the sea,
And kissed by the cool breeze
Night and day.
Here?s where the early heroes lived,
Here?s where they wrought peace and here they bled,
Here rise the marvelous cone-shaped hills,
Here?s sweet kinampay grows.

Blessed with white sandy beaches,
Rivers that water valleys,
Seas teem with fishes and cows graze
on the plains,
In ev?ry home love reigns,
God keep my homeland always free,
Let her forever be,
I pledge my strength, my heart and soul,
To my dear home, Bohol

Justino "Ning" Romea is a native of Barangay Napo, Loon, Bohol. He is the composer of the Bohol Hymn "Awit sa Bohol". He is also the composer of the Rafael Palma College or RPC Song (now UB Hymn) and many other school anthems. He is best remembered for the love song "Ako Kang Paabuton", the folk song "Sa Daplin sa Baybayon" as well as most of the songs featured in the annual 'drama' presentations in his native Napo for which he served as writer, director and musical arranger.

Dear Happy,

Perhaps you could join us. You could invite anybody in your area with Boholano affinity and organize yourselves. Being one of the Board of Directors of BOWACCC I could recommend you as chapter chairman in your present location. This is a worldwide capital infusion organization of Boholanos and one of our aim is to open a Micro Credit/Finance Bank in Bohol solely owned by Boholanos "Ato' Ni". This vision is most feasible if God wills, in a year time.

To explain further, what we mean of "Ato Ni" is every member has a share or dividend of every income or revenue the coop gets in a year (every member is the owner). So, duna kay bahin sa kita sa imong kwarta. Whereas if you put your money in the bank, the revenues of your money will go to the bank, ila ra ang kita. Of course all interest rates are governed and in accordance to the Bylaws and Constitution imposed by the CDA.

Also rates are of the minimum compared to the bank, i.e. loan interest is only 1.5% per month plus service charge of 2.25% per annum compared to the bank which is 8% to 10% and 5/6 which is outrageously 20%.

Philippine History / BOWACCC 3rd Anniversary
September 07, 2007, 11:49:42 PM
Boholano Overseas Workers and Cummunity Credit Cooperative (BOWACCC) on its 3rd Anniversary
Source: Resty de Asis (Abante Middle East Edition), 6 September 2007 issue

Eastern Province, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia - "Like marriage, BOWACCC has its ups and downs, it is not perfect, but with sheer determination among dedicated officers and members, the journey towards success continued which prompted us to celebrate our third year of serving our members and community", said the Vice Chairman, Dioscoro (Jun) Ayag Jr.

It is with pride to be a catalyst on this field (cooperativism) in this part of the world (AlKhobar, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia) being the pioneering group registered with the Cooperative Development Authority (CDA) in the Philippines, enthusiastically declared by Elias (Dong) Bonite, the coop's Chairman. We became among the role model among organizations and informal groups (kabarkadas) in formalizing and registering their cooperatives.

This year's celebration with the theme "Unity Towards Success" will be held on Friday, 7 September 2007 at Rivag Oriental Suites, Corniche, Al Khobar, Saudi Arabia. Among the guests who will grace the occasion is the newly installed Labor Attache, Hon. David Des Dicang, Welfare Officer, Hon. Rolando Coquia and their team. Expected to attend are Boholanos who come as far as Riyadh in addition to members and friends in Eastern Cities (Dammam, Jubail, Hofuf, Dhahran).

The highlights for the gathering shall be an Induction of Officers for Y2007-2009, short program, raffle draw, parlor games, talents show, distribution of passbooks and statements, issuances of memberhip IDs, socials and many more.

Begining last year, it had posted a tremendous growth in terms of memberships and savings/deposits with the imposition of a minimum requirements of SR100.00 for every member per month.

The cooperative is also an advocate of social conciousness having involved in Filipino community projects and charity works.

The other members of the Board of Directors (Messrs. Bert Pastor, Raymun 'Macky' Ferniz and Joe Oclarit) commented in unison that the reputation of the organization depends largely on the integrity of its people. Hence, the "Unity Towards Success" could be paralleled to One Vision, One Success, One Family, One Community.

Reaction from my Friendster Network:

I was so upset coz a writer like her is not a good example. We as an OFW can buy very expensive perfumes or anything as we want; but we think of our family in the Phil by helping them, the reason why nag antus sa baratuhon nga cologne. I call this girl MALU GREECE!... why? here in Norway PIGS (baboy) they call it GREECE, so no wonder they have the same figure, attitudes & thinking. Ang maayo aning bayhana ilabog sa tangkal tan-awon ta kung mo effect pa na iyang mahalon nga perfume.

I think this fatty is making some statements from her mind without investigating or even chatting with her seat mate during the flight.

Actually Mike, wala may mo gamit diri ug Charlie or Axe nga perfume. Not even the construction workers and domestic helpers. We just buy it because it is cheap. Just for pasalobong to keep everybody happy. We are just trying to be smart kay hard earned money baya. But for personal use, bonga ang mga pinoy diri. You can see construction workers & labors carrying the latest cell phone models.

I slip in with my kids. I realized nga mao ra gud gihapon ang services. Ang diperensya lang kay dako ang gap sa seat. Mao ra pod ang kaon, mas bibo pa sa economy kay daghang ika istorya.

Nakapalit pod ko ug Prada nga okay-okay.

So natilawan na nako tanan and I don't feel special.

At local trends--within 20 years--the Philippines will be in the same category as Singapore and Taiwan--even higher. We ourselves might not experience immediately--but our children and grand children will live in a better society--where immigration to another country wont be necessary to secure a 'good life'.

Correct me if I'm wrong, our population growth rate is faster than our economy growth rate. So how come our GDP will improve in 20 years if GDP depends on the population?

The Solution is "control population". Look at the above list of richest countries in Asia, Hong-kong is number one because they have few population. Actually Hong-kong is not a country anymore, it is a part of China. While China has more resources and money than Hong-kong but due to their huge population (25% of world's population), they landed only on the 10th.

I wonder why Brunei is not listed on the above. Also the Middle East is also part of Asia (Saudi, Kuwait, Dubai...etc.). There must be something wrong with this survey.

Philippine Laws / Re: Filipinos Are No Longer Poor?

There is no exact definition of poor.

Some say, it is just a metaphor of lazy and an attitude of the mind. What I mean is mental laziness not physical because we are one of the agile race.

Some say, it is a state of your financial survivability; i.e. you have 2 million pesos now, but next month you have bills to pay worth 3 million. That means presently, you are one month short of funds. That means even if you own 2 million pesos now, you are considered poor.
But I think what best describes Filipinos at present is the former.

Sending Filipinos to work abroad have some negative effects which I read in another column of Tubag Bohol, as “nagsalig ni kuya, ate, mama or papa” due to foreign remittances and dili na lang maningkamot ang nangabilin sa Pilipinas. Moreover, children left by OFW parents are depressed and are prone to develop violent behavior. Moreover, foreign aid which is a substantial amount is being withdrawn from G7 countries. Their reason is that “we have already provided you assistance like outsourcing”. They often complain that Filipino workers are a big threat to their job security.

The worst thing I observed is our educational system. All of us are programmed by our school system to become employees, rather than employers. A college graduate spent years of endeavor only to find out that there are no available jobs for his/her profession. Our country is flooded with professionals who are having useless professions and our government doesn’t know how to deal with it.

(UPDATE) MANILA, Philippines -- Buoyed by remittances from Filipinos abroad, gross domestic product (GDP) and gross national product (GNP) rose by 7.5 percent and 8.3 percent, respectively, in the second quarter of 2007.

As above report, it is quite clear that “overseas manpower remittances” contributes the biggest factor of this growth.
However, analyzing the current situation, I am pretty much worried about our low savings rate. An economy is not determined by how much money you make, but how much money you keep. There must be a coordinated drive from our various industry sectors to leverage from this growth and utilize it for further growth; i.e. since our economy shows a promising figure, there will be leniency in terms of foreign assistance and international loans to our private industries, thus accelerating turn-over, cash-flow, etc.

Moreover, if the present government fails to look after the welfare of overseas manpower; i.e. device a policy to subsidize the x-rate, I am afraid that the very industry that fuels our economy will soon collapse. It is a sort of industry suicide, shall I say.

If everything fails, we will go back to square one, where we send poor/desperate people abroad to earn dollars and so on.

There must be something fishy going on.

Manpower Export in the Philippines are one of the big contributors of this success. Ironically, OFW's are also the ones affected & loosing by this economy improvement. Unfotunately, as the economy soars, the exchange rate of Peso against the Dollar decreases. Like in my situation; before, I used to send money at 14 Peso per Saudi Riyal. Now, it barely reaches 12. That is a 14% reduction in earning at the same level of work/effort.

Hence, some of the OFW groups are organizing a petition to the president through a web campaign: http://petition.patnubay.com/

However, I don't know how effective this campaign is and I am not very confident that our leaders would listen.

The suspect, Reguya, allegedly a former CAFGU, was hit in the back with a shotgun round as he tried to flee together with his cohorts from the gunfight. He sustained seven wounds from that single shot.

See what I mean guys, the suspect is a former CAFGU. A CAFGU is literally the same as a Vigilante or a Death Squad. What if the very Death Squad we armed and hire would turn against us in the future. These are unfortunate situations we must avoid.

Dear Fiel,

I look forward to knowing the bank details of the security guard’s wife.

Moreover, since I am one of the BOD in a Boholano Cooperative in KSA (BOWACCC), I will try to solicit some amount from our group and from some Boholanos that I knew. It is part of our cooperative’s policy to interact and involve itself for the good of the community. Last time, BOWACCC donated some amount taken from our education fund, to the victims of the Casava Poisoning in Mabini last 2005 if I’m not mistaken. I think it was our very own “Mike Ligalig” who made the write-up of that report to the Bohol Chronicle. I will bring this matter to Mr. Jun Ayag being our Vice-Chairman of BOWACCC and member of Tubag Bohol community. Fiel, akong sultihan pod si Re-an Monton Real (Imong Kumare ug ako pong kumare) to spread the word, they have their own group also of Boholanos.

Such heroic act from the slain Security Guard must be recognized / honored by any means. All of us are affected by this crisis and all of us are potential victims of such heinous act. I have children of such age and I can imagine how painful it is for the kids to loose a father and a breadwinner of the family.

At that very moment, he did not only brings honor to his family but he protects all of us (potential victims). He is our hero.

How about members from USA,     Anyone? How about “Unic”.

Hope everyone will share a portion of his/her heart to the Kids of the Security Guard.

Note to Mike: Appreciate if somebody could post the picture of the Security Guard and his Kids as I am planning to make a poster and a cover for the donation can. A picture could help draw affection than only words. Mike I am targeting their weakest point "emotion".

We are living in fear…. Is this the demise of peace, freedom & liberty in our beloved Bohol?

Should we sacrifice our Christian values and organize a death squad? Personally, I am not in favor of a death squad as it might be abused by politicians to keep themselves in power. It may become an ironic “erosion of liberties in the name of protecting people from terror”. But in such desperate situation, we have to grab the first weapon we could see “the death squad”. You are right Mike in saying desperate situation requires desperate solution.

However, we must not be deceived by few serial incidents to keep a death squad forever. Moreover, timan-i ninyo, daghan dayon mo sakay ani nga mga politicians.

Quoted from Frank Furedi â€" University of Kent
“The term “politics of fear” contains the implication that politicians self-consciously manipulate people’s anxieties in order to realise their objectives. There is little doubt that they do regard fear as an important resource for gaining a hearing for their message. Scare tactics can sometimes work to undermine opponents and to gain the acquiescence of the electorate. However, the politics of fear is not simply about the manipulation of public opinion. The political class is itself anxious and disoriented. In the present circumstances, even professional political operators who are in the business of promoting fear are themselves habitually overwhelmed by it.

The politics of fear is a manipulative project that aims to immobilise public dissent. But it is also the mantra with which a disconnected elite responds in the circumstances of its isolation.

What the “politics of fear” really expresses is the renunciation of politics. Unlike the politics of fear pursued by authoritarian regimes and dictatorships, it has no clearly focused objective.”

Fear not solve crime. But fighting back will.

Fear is path to the dark side...

Fear leads to anger
Anger leads to hate
Hate leads to suffferinggg.

So, fight back we will!
Criminals we see, their blood we spill!

This happens because the community is not so vigilant. I believe such a daring act is not a work of a local criminal but a 'dayo'. We the ones who are affected must act now to prevent such things.

Bisan sa mga panghitabo, dili ako uyon nga mag mugna ang syudad ug death squad. Instead, we must activate our baranggay tanod system. New faces must be investigated and each one of us must be vigilant of any suspicious person in our neighborhood. It is everybody's responsibility to report to the authorities any suspicious person.

I am dissappointed nga walay mi tabang. Kung ing-ani ta, mo samot ug kadaghan ang crime sa atong syudad.

I believed hubo-hubo is not for our kind of tourist because that is not what they came for. They want to escape the noisy city life and experience a new kind of peaceful culture. With such presentation, I am sure tourists feel bored. Rio carnival is the destination for tourists who seek nudity.

Hubo-hubo is for us Pinoys because we have not been to nude beaches or carnivals.

I heared something during my elementary days nga naa kuno nude beach diha sa Pamilacan Island way back 1978. I don't know how true is it.

Lisod raba gyud ug tambal ang Virus. Actually and virus dili ma dala ug antibiotics. There is only one source of medicine for virus and it is only produced in China made from Chinese anise seeds and it takes 1 year to grow. All the supply is already booked for the USA.

I would prefer eating these noodles, rather than eating the commercial/chemically/artificially processed ones. Since childhood, I have not experienced any stomach upset from eating our local noodles.

The one we have is natural/organic with only flour, water, oil and salt plus the secret ingredient (singot nga mi dagayday gikan sa ilok.... shhh! don't tell anybody, ato ra ni GEC).
#2374
This will affect our tourism branding as "eco-cultural". If no action is taken from our tourism board, soon we will become like Thailand, flooded with pedophiles from all over the world.

This type of tourists who seek for sex tend to travel alone to avoid embarrassment. It represents a limited business opportunity compared to family or group oriented tourists package as GEC has mentioned.

She not only gives great honor to the Boholanos, but looks back at her humble begginings. Hope she will not change over time.

Moreover, I hope that someday she will devote a study on the rising criminality in Bohol and the evolving new generation.

This is a very sensitive issue. It is all about eco-cultural tourism and the presentation is giving a wrong message to the audience/tourist. Regardless of sexual explicitness, they should not wear a western short or any type of western lingerie. They should be consistent to the last detail.

I am not against nudity as long as it's purpose is Art, not lust and as long as it is performed for an audience who seeks for art.

Estimate how much the worth of one bus, first class pang tourist.

Let me share with you something. I have read something about taxi/bus rates, I think it is from time magazine. It says that in Asia, Philippines have the cheapest fares of taxi/bus. Yet we always hear complains in radio nga nagpalabi na kuno ang mga transpo company ug fare hike.

Another thing, during my last vacation, I went to Cebu to renew my OWWA. From pier, I hire a taxi being not familiar with Cebu streets. On the way, I had a conversation with the driver and on my accent, he knew that I am a Boholano. To my surprise, he told me that his boss is a boholano from Carmen who owns 50 Corolla taxis in Cebu. I asked his name but the driver refused to devulge for security reason. Aside from that he also owns 30 Vans. Naa diay dato sa Carmen nga nag hilom-hilom lang. Akong na obserbahan nga ang mga dato hilom lang, pero ang mga dili kaayo dato, maoy boka ug pasikat.

For thousands of years they survive from God given resources.

They are called the Sea Gypsies and scattered from Thailand up to Indonesian Archipelago. During the recent tsunami they knew that it is coming. They have thier own system of writing and counting. Their civilization is far older and ours is new; however our system is a destructive one.

I believed we should be the one learning from them. There should be a cultural exchange.

It is OK to teach them literacy, but not to the extent that thier culture will be wiped out to extinction like we totally lost our own way of writing and our identity.

There are endless opportunities in Trading. As Jun Ayag has preached, future is something you have to build now.

Lumine, just tell me when you are settled. Everything needs careful planning and study, dili kay pataka lang. It is like science, where you have to do an experiment first.

How about trading business?

It works on the idea that a Person's garbage may be a treasure to another. Also every country has a different standard of fashion; i.e. in northern hemisphere, fashion is controlled by AW&SS (Authumn/Winter and Spring/Summer), but in tropical areas, it is Summer and Rainy.

I observed that during change of season like Summer to Autumn, most of the garment stores here will go on a grand SALE. Since summer clothing don't sell during winter, it will be sold at "hatag" price. However, back in the Philippines, those items are still hot and at high value. I mean those are signature Brands like Zara, Mngo, Marks&Spencer...etc.(made in Portugal, Spain & Italy), kasagaran mga artista ra mo sul-ob ani.

Since I realized this business potential, I seized the opportunity and bought plenty of ladies blouses and tops, mostly sleeveless. Since this is an experemental stage, I will reveal the capital from P50 to P150. I know that in the Philippines, each will have a price of P400 to P500 in wholesale and P700 or more in prominent shops. These goods are non-perishable and can be sold throughout the year.

So, I am looking for someone, interested to sell these goods. Ako na bahala sa shipping ug tunga ta sa ginansya. This is just a dry-run and my purpose at this stage is not profit but to know if this experiment really works. Strategy of selling is house-to-house and word-by-mouth.

If this works, whoever you are will be my permanent business associate. Our next project will be Sunglasses & Frames (Ray-Ban, Giorgio Armani, Emporio Armani, Byblos, Luxottica...etc.).

To Jun, I suggest you open a one-stop shop in Tagbilaran selling such item.

Please spread awareness Franklin, Thanks.

Moreover, our government is promoting/advertising eco-tourism and is getting money out of it; however, there is no serious effort on conservation. Why are we relying on foreign aid to educate our people about conservation? I have not seen any Ad on TV from the Department of Tourism that educates people on how fragile our eco-system is, thus promoting conservation.

They are like locusts, they came, exploit and if all resources are used up, they leave.

Kung maka-uli ko pohon, ako mong imbetaron sa akong secret wonder sa Bohol. I got an inherited land in Cortes, nearby a river, a boundary of Antiquera. There is a hangging bridge there and the most captivating part is the white limestone 90 degree cliff which rises beside the river. My plan is to make it a "Vertical climbing" site. It would be the safest vertical climbing in the world, kay kung mahulog ka, adto ra ka hagbong sa River.

Actually, nag venture mi ani nga business way back 1994 in Jeddah KSA. Among gipa sea cargo ang aluminum from Saudi to Philippines kay ang kilo at that time is P80 ug ang pa kargo SR3 lang at that time, that means a nasa P30 to P40 ang padala. So mo kita mi ug P40 per Kilo. Pero karon gi ban na ang export sa aluminum kay ang Saudi na mismo ang mo palit. They need more aluminum raw materials kay uso na dire ang high rise nga structure using aluminum lightweight materials.

Moreover, we should take care of our Earth because if we destroy it, God will create no more... remember He stopped creating on the 7th day.

I don't know much about Mayor Dan Lim. On Rep. Edgar Chatto, he's prominent with what he has done to Bohol until now.  A good performer.  KB product baya na siya like me... hehehe.

Then there was a question: If they came from the same beginnings (the KB), why Edgar Chatto became as what he is now and Jun Ayag did not.

I tell you why, because Edgar Chatto has that political brand being a Chatto and he has that financial power being one of the prominent families in the province. Whereas, Jun Ayag came from the grass-root level. As a young lad, he is the bread weaner of his family and does not have that time and luxury like Edgar Chatto had to enrich his career. However, with determination, he managed to free himself & his whole family from chains of poverty, obtaining higher education through scholarships.

It is just a matter of life's situation that Edgar is ahead, but it does not mean he would become a better governor than Jun Ayag.

General Topic / Re: STONE FISH

This fish is a stalker who burries itself to the sand, waiting for it's prey. Among it's family is the Lion Fish which is one of the most attractive, but the most venomous. Another is the deep sea Hump Back Angler Fish that generates its own light to attract its prey, like you see in Finding Nemo.

We need a governor who is having financial literacy, like that of Jun Ayag's caliber.

Dili kay basta naay budget, pataka na lang ug gasto. Bisan walay hinungdan or non-feasible nga project basta naay ikapakita para dasigon ug ma re-elect sunod election.

We need a governor to drive our economy forward, by initiating income generating projects for the masses thus eradicate poverty. Not projects that only a few could benefit.

We need a governor that has a mind of his own and not dictated by colors of politics. One who has noble objectives and clear sense of direction.

I am thankful to God, that we have Atty. Doni Piquero... I am praying for his success and for the Boholanos.

Amazing, the reality is that we tend to remember happier days and deny unhappy ones. That's how our memory works, emotionally driven.

I saw you kids grew from dakpanay, jolinay, sumbagay, break-dancing, to uyab-uyab and there were nerds, bogoys, beauties then graduation. Instead of paying attention to boring Spanish, Pilipino, P.E. classes, I am entertained watching you guys. It's like watching a wide-screen reality TV Show back then.

Now, you are grown-up and responsible citizens. I appreciate your tree-planting activity. Thanks for providing oxygen to my kids, the future generation. I love trees, they are natural airconditioners.

Does exploiting our non-renewable natural resources the only way our government can think of to alleviate our present economic situation? If so, "Nagpakasayon lang di-ay sila"?

Are they not thinking of other alternatives like improving our trade, I mean export sector or improving our tourism industry? Why won't we organize International Trade Fairs, like China, Thailand, Hong-kong, Germany, Italy....etc. are doing to improve trade and uplift thier economy.

Mga kaigsoonan, why should we sell this oil now. We are in a process of developing our economy and we might use this oil someday to power our industry. We don't need this oil now because our industry is all f***ed-up, but why sell it? In future, when time comes that our industry are fully developed, we will be buying oil from expensive sources because our reserves are all used up and sold, which is a work of a mindless economist. Are we in famine that we have to sell everything we got? I see no strategy here.

Why take risk, I say real risk because a potential oil spill is on sight, which may ruin our tourism industry. Tourism industry is a big business as you know. Look at Monaco, the Seychelles, or Bahamas, their only source of income is Tourism. Their government runs the business very successfuly with proper strategy. There, you can find the most celebrities per square foot which added to the glamour & publicity that draws more ordinary tourists.

Wow, this is roughly P6,000,000 per year, 500,000 per month, 20,833 per day and 2,604 per hour if the congressman works 8 hours per day.

I’m not sure. Tingali phobia lang ko kay diri sa Saudi, uso pa gihapon ang public excecutions (Pugot Ulo) and I have seen it many times. Lood lagi kay mura ug manok gi putlan ug ulo, unya mo sirit ang dugo. So, Saudi has the lowest crime rate country in the world.

Pero ang nahitabo nga ang mga dagkong officials or royal family is immune from this punishment. So, bias lang gihapon.

Mao nga kung madayon man gani nang Death Squad sa Bohol, angay nilang unahon ang mga dagkong officials nga nangawat / nag usik-usik ug kwarta sa gobierno, atong kwarta. To kill a snake, you have to strike on the head, not the tail.

But I still insist of forming a 911 squad with police coordination working 24 hours, like in developed countries instead of a death squad. It must be a multi-purpose 911, crime solving as well as life saving squad to respond on distress calls, 24 hour.

I love cartoons and I'm a cartoonholic anonymous. I am thankful of my kids; they are my excuse for watching cartoons again. You know, I followed the whole animated series of transformers before it became a movie.
#2398
Moreover, I am afraid that a Death Squad could become a tool for "political killings" in favor of the one who is in power.

I doubt it, but a death squad is an illegal assembly and is against our constitution/democracy. Also, insulting to our authorities.

A life saving 911 Squad with police coordination is better than this mindless initiative.
#2399
Makong "NO".

I personally would not agree.

What we need is awareness and vigilance.

What if the one accused is innocent. It is better to free 10 criminals than to convict an innocent man.

I still do believe that there is an ultimate punishment….. HELL.

Finding the cause or prevention is better than treatment…. The number one cause is poverty… if we eradicate poverty; somehow, crime rate would go down. I don’t see any focused/coordinated effort from the government to eradicate poverty, but giving alms or food which is like filling water into a leaking bucket (I borrowed this concept from Jun Ayag...hehehe).

Unemployment is also the main cause. An idle mind is a devils playground….

A Death Squad is a barbaric/uncivilized way. What we need is to improve police communication and to establish a 911 team who must respond immediately. I doubt if Globe or Smart or our telecommunication system is kind enough to donate a free emergency line like 911.

Your faces are familiar to me.

I was in 5th Year Engineering at that time. I saw you guys in CAT-1 Training, while Peter and Eduard Naron and the Galinato's with all the bogoys are playing pustahanay nga basketball. How I miss those days.
