Manny Pacquiao's performance against Oscar De La Hoya was magnificent but De La Hoya was as shot as Freddie Roach, Pacquaio's trainer and De La Hoya's ex-trainer, predicted that he would be. In his most recent meaningful fights against top-notch opponents, I thought he lost in a very close fight against Juan Manuel Marquez and he wasn't at his best in a rematch against Marco Antonio Barrera. If Ricky Hatton can get to him like Marquez did, he could make it difficult for Pacquiao but I see Pacquiao's footwork and hand speed being too much for Hatton. As much as beating that version of De La Hoya was not an accurate barometer of Pacquiao, Hatton's victory over Paulie Malignaggi in his last fight was also illusory, his struggle against Juan Lazcano more indicative of Hatton's inevitable decline because of bad living. His bravery will not be enough in the face of so much precise punching and Pacquiao will win inside eight rounds.

Sports and Fitness / Hatton is very predictable?
May 02, 2009, 02:58:13 PM
Hatton may be on the downgrade and will struggle to make 140 pounds. Nevertheless, this is a very interesting fight and not easy to predict, especially if both men are at their best. Neither man will give ground but Pacquiao can win it if he uses footwork to avoid Hatton's rushes and steps in and out with quick counterpunches, avoids a war of attrition, and keeps a busy jab in Hatton's face. Hatton is very predictable and will fight as he always has--straight ahead with both guns blazing. If the Pac Man chooses to go head-to-head with Hatton he is in for a rough evening. But I think he will fight the smart fight (as Roach will instruct him to) and will win a close 12-round decision.

Manny Pacquiao has the edge in speed, technique, boxing knowledge and training. Ricky Hatton has size, strength, stronger chin and a referee, Kenny Bayless, who isn't likely to interfere if he tries to impose that size by mauling Pacquiao. The two men have roughly equivalent stamina and willpower. It will come down to Pacquiao's recent surge as a technician and his full repertoire of defensive and offensive skills leading to the dissection of Hatton's brawling style. Pacquiao will win by unanimous decision.

Sports and Fitness / Hatton-Pacquiao Forecast
May 02, 2009, 02:48:13 PM
I love Pacquiao in this fight, but then again, I loved de la Hoya in the fight against Pacquiao. I just can't see a glorified clubfighter like Hatton beating the fighting machine that pummelled Oscar into retirement. Hatton tries hard and is pretty fast with his hands, but he's basically a straight-ahead fighter who gets hit too much, and unlike other guys who fought a similar style--Dempsey, Frazier, Duran, to name a few of the best - Hatton doesn't have the chin to pull it off. He was wobbled by Juan Lazcano, a journeyman, two fights back, and needed 11 rounds to dispose of feather-fisted Paulie Malignaggi, who basically gave up after three rounds. Hatton's only truly standout performance was against a washed-up Kostya Tszu four years ago, and people went nuts over him, but the easy beating by Floyd Mayweather Jr. I think is more indicative of his true abilities at this level. There's juist no logical reason to pick Hatton on his merits.

Pacquiao, on the other hand, seems to have vastly improved as both a boxer and a puncher as he's moved up in weight, his best performances coming against David Diaz and de la Hoya in weight classes he had never tried before. In some respects, the Oscar KO is a mirage, because de la Hoya turned out to be a shot fighter going in, but that should not detract from Pacquiao's performance, which was probably the most complete of his career. The guy is not a young 30--he's been fighting almost 15 years and was knocked out twice as a bantamweight--and he's fighting almost 50 pounds above the weight he started at (106) so I don't think he will have a particularly long shelf life. But he certainly has enough left to handle Hatton. He'll cut him up before stopping him in eight rounds. Or less.

Manny Pacquiao looked great against a bigger fighter in Oscar de la Hoya. But there is a big difference between Hatton and de la Hoya. Hatton is much younger and quicker than de la Hoya at this point in his career. Yes, Hatton struggled against the quickness of Floyd Mayweather Jr., but Pacquiao isn't nearly as fast. I can't see a knockout in this fight, but I do believe Hatton has the power to press Pacquiao. Hatton will win a split decision.

Cebu City officials are now pointing at each other on who recommended the P80,000 price for each laptop to be given to 24 judges and justices assigned in the city, following questions raised on the proposed P1.9-million purchase.

Councilor Gerardo Carillo said his office made a request for 24 laptops, but did not prescribe any brand, unit specifications or price.

He denied the statement of Management Information and Computer Services (Mics) head William Artajo that it was his office that set the price at P80,000 for each laptop.

Even Cebu Regional Trial Court (RTC) Executive Judge Meinrado Paredes admitted an P80,000-laptop for a judge is too much.

“It’s too expensive. There are laptops that cost P20,000 to P30,000. I don’t need an expensive laptop,” Paredes told Sun.Star Cebu in a mobile phone interview yesterday.

To provide consular services to a growing number of German citizens in the country, Germany re-opened its honorary consulate office in Cebu after 100 years.

The German Government appointed long-time Cebu resident Dr. Franz Seidenschwarz, a botanist who teaches at the University of San Carlos-Talamban Campus, honorary consul.

“We are proud to re-establish our presence in this historic and dynamic city. The new consul will promote business, cultural, and scientific activities in Cebu. And Dr. Seidenschwarz is the right man at the right place,” said Ambassador Christian-Ludwig Weber-Lortsch,.

Weber-Lortsch said the first honorary consul of Germany based in Cebu was appointed in 1871 but “disappeared” in 1910. Since then, Germany opted to close the honorary consulate. - Sun Star Zamboanga

The City Council has requested the Zamboanga City Police Office (ZCPO) to stop all forms of illegal gambling, particularly the so-called "swertres" in this southern port city.

Vice Mayor Jose Manuel Dalipe II said the request was made through a resolution sponsored by Councilor Charlie Mariano, and was unanimously approved during the council's regular session Thursday.

Dalipe said that Mariano sponsored the resolution after noting that the illegal numbers game known is proliferating in almost all of the city's 98 villages.

Operators of the local swertres gambling based the results on the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO)-sponsored Three-Digit Lottery. - Sun Star Zamboanga

NFA Assistant Regional Director Rolando Maravilla said the commercial cargo vessel loaded with 6,000 metric tons or 120,000 sacks of rice from Vietnam is set to drop anchor Friday at the local wharf to unload the rice shipment.

Maravilla said the rice will be distributed to the NFA provincial office in the city and other parts of the Zamboanga Peninsula.

World Daily News / Swine Flu in South Korea
May 02, 2009, 10:33:33 AM
South Korea Saturday reported its first confirmed case of swine flu, according to Yonhap news agency.

A 51-year-old nun, who has been quarantined since Tuesday after returning from Mexico, has the disease, an official at the health ministry told Yonhap. She had been the nation's first "probable" case of the new flu virus.

"We confirmed the first probable patient was infected with the virus," the official said on condition of anonymity.

The nun was among three probable flu patients reported this week, Yonhap said.

The two others -- a 44-year-old woman and 57-year-old bus driver -- did not travel to affected countries, raising concerns the disease has passed from person to person in the country. - AFP

My dear friends in Tubag Bohol,

It's now 11:43 AM of May 1, 2009 (Bohol time)

Since day 1 in my Tubag Bohol experience, I have come to rediscover the fire which I  almost forgot was still in me and had fanned it to a blaze. I have stumbled upon the path I once trod and walked on it with delight. I have awakened the Muse who had slumbered for years of non use and I look forward with eager expectation the surprises of our creation.

I never expected that my persona as GEC348 would reach this far. I was first thought of as a woman, thisgirlvader was game to call me "it", I was thought to be El Mundo, Sigbin II, and now, lately, as Glacier71. Well, as I've said before, I am whoever you imagined.

In the middle of all the speculation, I have decided to make the most important decision to reveal who GEC348 is. And by this you will know me:

I will log out from Tubag Bohol. You will log in as gec348 and enter the password: mikeligalig888

GEC348 is yours.

Regarding ABS-CBN's seeming inconsistency.

It is my take that at first, heeding the request of Ted Failon, the media giant called on to respect the family's privacy.

But the competing media outlets are raking in all the juicy stories on the incident and are making a killing at the ratings.

This forced ABS-CBN to abandon its first stand and join in the fray.

It's all in the name of ratings ;D

Love Talk / Re: Is Maturbation a Sin?
March 19, 2009, 05:39:52 PM
Quote from: bol-anon nga cebuano on March 18, 2009, 12:58:55 AM
Masturbation is a sin because a person consents in their own heart to take sexual gratification from impure thoughts. It is sinful to indulge in the sexual pleasure that is derived from the satisfaction of using one's imagination to FIXATE upon obscene images, or obscene actions, or forbidden sex. Lustfully fixating upon genitals, or sexual acts, is idolatry. This is called: the worship of obscenities. This is the sin of those addicted to pornography. That's often a "guy" thing. Alternatively, taking delight in the lust of another, or consummating a fantasy of forbidden sexual romance, is the sin of adultery in the heart. That's often a "girl" thing. The act of masturbation is an outward act that confirms that one's heart and mind has consented to an inward act of impurity. Only by consenting to an imagined act of impurity can one attain orgasm. To attain sexual release, a person's will consents to LOVE something that is sexually impure.

Very deep, BNC.

Does it mean that when the object of your fixation while you are in the act of masturbation is your sexual act with your spouse, no sin is committed?

I wholeheartedly agree, Benny san.

But even media now has its own agenda (positive or regressive) over and beyond the ideal, pure and original purpose of its existence. Some are able to weave it flawlessly in the old traditions of journalism, while others display with less subtlety. Everything is undergoing a "shift".

Even the way the woman says to the man "I love you, too"

Or, you unwittingly avoided being caught on candid camera ;D

Or, you escaped being the next blue tooth sensation LOL

You were right to restrain yourself, Datu Dagohoy. With all the pent up emotions she had that night, she would have come at you "with a vengeance."   ;D

Don Senor Gec, muy gracioso,

Great rhyme.

lol.

Sure, H. Dumpy might be dead, but we can always clone him, can't we?

lol.

Hahahaha, joke!

He who has the blood of H. Dumpty, come forth and be cloned! ;D

Senior Lorenzo,

We have a lot too many in our country who have secret ambitions to be like the "Strong Man."  A few, with the power they yield, have started to exhibit the Strong Man (or woman) tendency. There are also those who tried but their actions are too pitiful to be appreciated.

Better to beat my own eggs--
I could enjoy an omelet for breakfast.  ;D

... And they couldn't put Humpty Dumpty together again

I know it's "I" because me is an objective pronoun, not a subjective pronoun. The question is asking for the doer of the action and not the receiver of the action.

CORRECT: It's I who build community.
ERRONEOUS: It's me who build community.

:D :D :D

Oh, so my first answer was correct after all :)

I agrre w1th you Gener, sexercise will lead us to sleep if done during bedtime.

Of course, nooky-nooky will get you to sleep. But remember before it relaxes the muscles, the activity strains every fiber of the body and demands so much concentration from your brain--especially when...

Nooky-nooky is so effective, I pity those who are "almost there" when their partner fell asleep ;D

Daddy Macky, Glacier, Lorenzo,

The sponsored trip and cruise is very inviting and I might just take it with gusto! Especially with your company, and the rest of the TuBo gang, it will be an experience nothing can compare. What a riot it will be  ;D

I may not have showed up in the EBs
But you may have suspected my presence anyway.
I am the guy beside the gall, I am the lady beside the man
I am the gecko that fell on bambi's bag
I am the flash that captured your smile

I am GEC but I'm not a geek
Bring in the wine and I might finally squeak ;D
