Personally, I think it's cool that somebody's questioning on our behalf. I have a questioning mind myself but I have no microphone nga makaabot sa Vatican or Holy Mother Church. Tagling siguro ning akong tingog, iro may mo towaw kung mo protesta ko. ;D

I agree with you 100% on being faithful to the teachings of the Catholic Church and I stand by it even if some teachings are hard to swallow. I leave the quarrel to the differing thoughtsmiths. Like I said somewhere, let their words, actions and dialogue be the judge, not us! Not us. Be careful of what you say (or do)... same measure we will be dealt with, Jesus warns. Makahadlok kaayo! Bilib ko ninyo kay isog mo and courageous! I'm afraid to dare that path... the path of inquisition LoL

And the Church is full of Weigels and Lorenz... a blessing indeed! But listen to the difference, scholarly vs condemning. Theologian to theologian, they never stop seeking the truth! What hapened to you Hans? We're fond pa naman of your many venerable works, Wiegel insinuated. But I never heard him once saying "you're a damned (kondenado) heretic, boy! You're going straight to hell!" Ako sad, no comment. :D Dako kaayo respect ni Weigel kang Hans... bisan grumpy and old na si Lolo Hans. Like Benedict he is a teacher of teachers. German nga utangag loob ni Hans (he became a theology faculty at Turingen bec of Hans), Benedict can only look at him and treat him with compassion like our Lord. Popes leave it to their ghost experts as in any high office. :D

That's all I'm saying... If you can't be like our Lord in compassion, follow the example of the Holy Father, we are so fond of... so you say.

Lorenz:

Please answer my question on Papal Infallibilty when view of the world was still flat and a legitimate expert on the subject matter corrected the idea? 2013 naman karon and modernity taught us that the earth is round after all. Infallible man kaha ang Santo Papa? Nganong nanghilabot toinks!

Dear Lorenz,

I never say you're a theologian and even if you quote old and sometimes irrelevant encyclicals you will never become a legitimate theologian. My 4 years of theology, my ordination to the priesthood and my 27 years as a priest do not make me one either. But my papers or faculties say I can teach and proclaim God's Word and the good news to the flock assigned to me or when I get to dispense the mysteries of our faith at my disposal. But I will never judge people - not by quoting encyclicals, Church pronouncements, books or what-have-you - just because they said or did something that does not agree with our view or belief. Like our Lord, I don't even judge criminals or killers as persons doomed to hell. That is not my job (that's God). In fact, Jesus says in the gospels, "my actions are my judge." And with this I just stay mum and quite... their actions will be their judge and leave it at that. Now, you said "damnable heresy!" Really? You mean you really know what God is going to do for Hans Kung? Since when did you get a privileged access to God's will? I know the Mother Church was given the key... but not just anyone from Chicago or New Orlesns or Tsina; not even to the Queen of Sheba (who comes from the East to condemn the present generation accdg to Jesus) nor to the Queen of Memeng who is a respectable TB member.

I know you are very respectful and a very respectable person, that's why I also sought your opinion many a times. But as an elder or older brother, I will always show my fraternal affection and call it, inigsoong tambag... never judge nobody or anything by what you hear and what you say (refrain/discipline is the word). Leave that to their actions (as their judge) or to the experts. They are the authority. Kita? We're cslled the FAITHFUL and as the word denotes ours is to imitate the heart of Christ who is meek and humble, compassionate and forgiving and has a heart for erring and sinners. A doctor like you, He came for the sick, not the righteous. Let's be that way... and we're not far from the Kingdom. He assures.

"Unless you learn how to forgive... from the heart..."

Ayo gani kay pag exit well-connected na siya with Jesuit's Leuven University where he received a summa in theology. Wew! Considered an authority na god in theology. What a blessing in disguise... instead of being stuck in the system kung na obispo pa! Hehehe

(fr aloy may turn out to be right about his attitude and reasons about the cebu archdiocese in the recent past... ssshhh... i'm still hoping he's wrong, huhuhu.)

In 100 years we will know. That's equivalent to 1 year for the Catholic Church. For arguing a Cardinal is as good as "condenado." It doesn't matter how good you are or sincere or how many STDs you have under your belt. Condenado is condenado! What direction do you go but find the exit... which he did. Another sad story for a local church.

Cest la vie! And Pope Benedict knows that bwahahaha.

Remember, Jesus too who was God was human in everything, except sin (Gaudium et Spes No. 22)

And the Bible says, "... and they treat him as such."
#1819
Let me share with you a (let's say) sad or unfortunate reality. I said this at a homily at a funeral Mass, for my mom, in 2006. Remember 2006, bag-o pa na Santo Papa si Pope Benedict XVI ug bag-o papod na President si Bush (2nd term I think). I told my family it doesn' matter kung niuli pako atong panahona as Pope Benedict or President Bush. To you, nga nakaila nako - family, cuzins, silingan - I'm simply Roel. And for true that's how they see me and even call me even after 25 years of priesthood.

Truth is, for the longest time we have put priests and bishops and even more so the Pope on a pedestal - for reasons Biblical and traditional. Which is fine. We do that for any authority anyway (usahay sa ubang mga sikat na tawo). But among bishops and Cardinals or theologians who are contemporaries - like Ratzinger and Hand - you are just one of the boys, even if you hold the highest honor.

Illustration:

When Archbishop Onie Gordoncillo was bishop of Bohol in the late 70s up to 1986, bisan siya buotan nga pagka tawo ug pagka obispo and bisan siya maoy Prince of the Church of Bohol (Successor of Peter like the Bishop of Rome), daghang mga pari nga way respeto niya, not because he wasnt a good bishop... but because he was their underclassman sa nag skul pa sila sa UST. In fact, gamatot kuno si Bishop Onie and naive maoy ilang sugo-sugoog palit ug beer ug anejo sa gawas sa UST compound. Bwahahaha!

Nangapari tuod silang tanan and Fr Onie became a bishop... But to these priests si Onie lang gehapon siya maski Prince of the Church pa siya.

In the same fashion, Ratzinger bisan Pope Brnedict pa siya... will always be Ratzinger to his friends, contemporary and fellow faculty furing his teaching days. They know him too much. LoL

Pierre Teilhard de Chardin SJ

Pierre Teilhard de Chardin SJ (French; May 1, 1881 â€" April 10, 1955) was a French philosopher and Jesuit priest who trained as a paleontologist and geologist and took part in the discovery of Peking Man and Piltdown Man.

I studied Fr Teilhard de Chardim too at Tagaytay.... wasn't he excommunicated too for teaching something the Church didn't understand at that time? I thought he was vindicated later on...

Quote from: Lorenzo on February 26, 2013, 10:28:51 PM
If I may forward my assumption, his inability to take charge further than a diocesan priest, not as a bishop, or a cardinal, is because of his liberal and heretical teachings towards the Roman Catholic Church. This is the very reason why he was not permitted to teach Theology because he intertwines his own personal agenda and biases. He was removed from teaching theology because of his heretical views.

Let us go back and define the two forms of heresy, shall we?

The Catechism of the Catholic Church defines these three sins against the faith in this way:

2089

Incredulity is the neglect of revealed truth or the willful refusal to assent to it.

Heresy is the obstinate post-baptismal denial of some truth which must be believed with divine and catholic faith, or it is likewise an obstinate doubt concerning the same;

apotasy is the total repudiation of the Christian faith;

schism is the refusal of submission to the Roman Pontiff or of communion with the members of the Church subject to him." [Code of Canon Law c.751]

I love (not respect) how you defend your Holy Father and Catholic Faith! Like I told you before you are a good Catholic defender just like many of them back home roaming around town and spitting fire and brimstone teaching usually where Jose Rizal is immortalized LoL. But that's what you are, a simple Catholic defender, my dear friend. As far as Catholic theologies are concerned I will give my ears to "registered" (hehehe) Catholic theologians who have studied and taught (many other theologians) and put in the time over the years as a respectable authority on the subject matter. As an orthodox practicioner of the faith I closely watch the Church Magisterium has to say on all of these. If they are not sure either, then I probably will leave it that way, too. Or like Ms Isles said... maybe they have taken a more compassionate and more forgiving approach in these modern age. Sa flat pa bitaw ang kalibutan nasayop man sad ang Simbahan. Sa dihay nisinggit nga lingin ang kalibutan, what did they to him? Toinks! Are you still going to invoke Papal Infallibility?!! LoL

But I love listening when they come up with stuff... because I used to come up with stuff also at different stage in my life. In fact, as a sinner like everybody else, I also come up with heretical and questioning thoughts that nobody will ever get to hear. That's the provilege of being not part of the theological forum bwahahaha. Our friend Alloysius Cartagenas in now one of them and he gets criticized to the max even for a beautiful article he wrote defending Pope Benedict XVI's resignation, bwahahaha. Professor Hans Kueng is a professor collegeau of now Pope Benedict. He is a harsh critic of the catholic (absolutism)authoritatian system. This has irritated the late blessed Pope John II, he was not allowed to teach Theology and was even warned to be excommunicated. As Pope Benedict took over, Kueng was happy to be invited as personal friend but nothing is said about his personal criticism of the church. Professor Kueng started  "Weltethos" foundation. for more infos http://www.weltethos.de/index-en.php

I think the Church needs one like him. Vatican II in the mid 60's redefined the Church as the People of God - 99.9% laity - but look who's running the lives of the 99.9%? the 1%. That's another hand-grenade courtesy of a respectable monsignor/teacher from my Archdiocese hahahaha!

Ah, I see. As a theologian, he has the right--or privilege--to be selective about which aspects of his behavior he feels like explaining. Cool.

Yes, as a theologian and a member of the Cathlic Theology Forum duna siyay privilege just as respectable as the others. Duna say daghang mga sipok ug ulo like the Liberation Theologians. But once you're in (di basta-basta and probably by invitation only (another politics in Church) you become or are considered authority on the subject, orthodox or questionable. Of course, there's the Church' Magisterium (teaching authority) to monitor these theologians. Either they give an imprimatur or nihil obstat or they ask some to recant if the teaching or a certain article the teaching magisterium deem questionable. Either that writer is called to defend one's theology or he/she receives a sanction immediately or whatever. But for what they say the Church listens as well as the other members of the forum with utmost respect. After all, their reputation and sometimes their membership in the Church is at stake. Di lalim trabaho aning mga theologians. They are usually matters of faith and morals. Usang sipyat, a difference in eternity!!! Toinks!!!

What selective behavior? Wa ko kadabot. I thought he was prophetic and courageous - unlike many of us - to a point, point of risking excommunication, by saying all the things he said about the Church and the administration of the Papacy or Vatican. Hit or miss probably his style but there are so much truth to them, which we have no evidence or proof but obvoius nonetheless... that if we're familiar with the politics of the Church or have been listening to recent news re: Vatican Scandals, etc. Even from the ranks of Philippine Bishops you hear unpleasant quips "if you think Philippine churches are full of politics and scandal... wait til you get to the highest level, the Vatican!" LoL. Hand-grenade nga off the record
#1828
My unsolicited advice: choose to stay in the Church. But emulate Fr. Bernas’ sense of humor.
#1829
In the Catholic Church, we sinners and pastors bungle up many things. But I believe God is present in our Church in mysterious ways, as he is present mysteriously in other faiths. God is present in our people crawling down long Church aisles for an experience of the Holy, and battling the mob barefoot somehow to be able to touch divinity. He is present in the laborer struggling to make his monthly eight-thousand fit for the needs of his wife and four children. He is even present in the oddball who waives a placard a the preacher to say, “Hey, listen to me!” It is the Church that God gave us, the Church “for all” â€" for that is what “catholic” means.

I think, if God can love us, so ought we love one another. Only then, might we be a Sacrament of God’s presence in the world. Otherwise, in a rational world, we are a laughingstock.
#1830
Then there is the sublime sacrament of Matrimony whose ministers are two people in love, a man and a woman. In God’s grace, and for the edification of the Christian community, they remove their love from the strictly private sphere and hold it up to the Christian community as a shared sacrament, a grace-bestowing symbol of the love of Jesus for his one spouse, the Church, and the love of the Church for her one spouse, the Lord. It is because of this Sacrament that there is only one spouse, as there is only one Lord and only one Church, and that the marriage, given in grace, is indissoluble. This is the Sacrament that that every conjugal act sets in grace, the meaning from which it ought never be separated, celebrating in its ecstasy and pleasure, the incredible joy of God united to his human Church and the joy of the Church united to her God. “I have come to give life,” Jesus said, “and to give it to the full” (John 10:10). Again, “All this I have told you that my joy may be in you, and your joy may be complete” (Jn 15:11).

#1831
Also because there are people, like myself, whom I love in this Church, who with every rosary or every lit candle say, “Have mercy on me, Lord, for I am a sinner” (Lk 18:13), and somehow there feel the consolation of a compassionate God. And even the caring of a compassionate community.

It is in the Catholic Church where faith is celebrated in awesome sacraments, so long as these are not spoiled by haughty priests or distasteful distractions. The main Sacrament is Jesus Christ expressing the Father’s Love through the Spirit at the Mass; there is the sacrament of Baptism that initiates us into the mystery of the Church; there is the sacrament of Orders that ordains a young man into the ministerial priesthood of Jesus Christ consecrated to the service of the Priesthood of the People of God.
#1832
Why not leave the Church? Because this was the Church into which you were born? And the Church where you have chosen to stay?

Why? Because there are holy people there? The presence of God is felt there? Because there are blessed people there who speak to you credibly of God? Because, “First, the Kingdom of God” is practiced there? Because the Kingdom of God is being established in the partnership between husband and wife making home a happy place for children; it is being established in the professional competence and labors of a father bringing home the bacon for the family,; it is being established in the teaching of a mother who handles five college classes a day then comes home to tutor her own children. The Kingdom of God being established in Catholics confronting and balancing the conflicting claims of environmental preservation, private gain, industrial productivity, the rights of Indigenous peoples, nationalism and globalization in search of a viable common good?

#1833
He meant, the words that comes from a holy man or holy woman who speaks to you about God.

He meant, the sublimity of prayers and rituals that mediate the presence of God.

At the Ateneo de Naga, what they always celebrated in the Church through their motto was: Primum Regnum Dei â€" first the Kingdom of God. This was what Jesus Christ used to preach, why he was misunderstood, vilified, condemned, crucified, died, then rose. Being in the Church means being a disciple of Jesus, being received as a companion at his side, participating in his ongoing proclamation of the Kingdom, helping him deliver the message about which he said, “All this I have told you that my joy may be in you, and your joy may be complete” (Jn 15:11).

#1834
If people don’t leave the Church, what is the core experience that pastors in the Church want to make sure their people have?

I asked this of a young friend today. I asked him, “If you do not leave the Church today, what is it that you look for?” He said, “A sense of God. An experience of the Holy.”

He meant, the experience of the Holy that you receive upon entry into a Church or a Shrine that is sacred space. The Holy in a special place, where you must remove your shoes in silence.
#1835
Already, clearly, the Philippines is not all Catholic. It never was. Being a responsible Catholic in the Philippines today, whether lay, religious or ordained, is no mean thing. There are confused laypersons, rogue religious and pathetic priests. From within the Church, pastors should be helping Catholics to be Catholics. Yes, also with their teaching on RH! But if this is all their putting out, if this is the single tune they sing and demand every person dance to, then the party has lost its joy, and people will walk out.

#1836
Give me now my chance to consider the arguments, think it over, and let me decide. Entrust me and my decision to my compassionate Father. I would rather entrust myself to him who can send me to hell, than to you with your stringent conditions for heaven!

“All this I have told you that my joy may be in you, and your joy may be complete” (Jn 15:11). This used to be a joyful Church for a joy-loving people. It has become rather somber, and people are leaving it with no regret. You think we can afford the losses? Italy was once all Catholic. Spain was once all Catholic. My g***, the Holy Roman Empire was once all Catholic.
#1837
People are tired of it. They know: the CBCP was against the RH Bill. The CBCP is against the RH Law. So too their presbyteral preachers, and their lay defenders. They have their reasons based on solid doctrine. Because of the nature and dignity of man (and woman!), each and every conjugal act must not be bereft of its unitive and procreative meanings, except when the procreative aspect can be avoided through natural family planning methods. Artificial contraception is proscribed. Abortion is proscribed. The contraceptive mentality leads to all manner of evil. This is the truth.

People love the truth. But the feeling is: people are being strangled by this truth. Their reaction: stop the world, I want to get off! Stop the holier-than-thou discourse, the theological bullying, the magisterial declarations, not because what you have said may not have been important, but because what you have said, you have said over and over and over again. Now, you are a broken record.
#1838
People are tired of the reproductive health (RH) discussion, debate, disaster, debacle. All right, they are willing to receive a clear statement of the teaching of the Church on this matter, and they understand that the hierarchy is serious about conveying its message, and that there are lay persons very passionate about making sure that that message gets conveyed. But hey, was it really necessary to devote the whole of Advent to it, including all of Simbang Gabi, and for Christmas fare, was it really so necessary to talk about Reproductive Health and the Virgin Birth through Conception by the Holy Spirit? And when New Year’s came, was it really so necessary to preach on Reproductive Health and Child Circumcision?

#1839
Seriously though, there ought to be great concern. People have been leaving the Catholic Church. People are about to leave the Church. It is time, I think, for Mahar Mangahas to take out his social survey tools to help us understand what is happening.

What I am picking up is exasperation. People are tired of lousy homilies that ramble in inanities that begin and never end, and never end because they should never have begun. People are tired of being preached at, of being treated as if they were younger than adolescents, of being lectured, of being scolded, of being dictated upon. People are tired of obstinate claims to absolute truth, when the thinking world continues to seek truth. People are tired of being told how to think, when they can think for themselves, and how to choose, when they can choose for themselves, and how to have sex when they can have sex for themselves.

#1840
There are two responses which moved me. One was presumably complimentary by mentioning me in the same breath as Fr. Joaquin Bernas, S.J., the infamous “Guro of Destabilization.” “It’s because of Jesuits like these,” the testimony went, “that I don’t leave the Church.” The other was more moving: “If there were more around like these, I wouldn’t have left the Church.”

Conclusion? The Catholic Church is in trouble â€" even in Catholic Philippines.

Especially if remaining in the Church hangs â€"in a fit of gallows humor â€" on the Guro of Destabilization! Or  worse, on a Jesuit like me!

This was posted recently in the blog of Father Joel Tabora SJ, President of Ateneo de Davao and former President of Ateneo de Naga. Father Joel has always been eloquently outspoken. He used to be the anonymous speechwriter for the late Cardinal Sin.

The Catholic Church: Between the Sublime and the Ridiculous

Posted on February 7, 2013 by Joel Tabora, S.J.
To my blog, “Under the RH Law (RA 10354) the Catholic Must Choose” there was quite amount of no-holds-barred response. Some were printed, other texted. Some were thoughtful, others emotional. Some expressed agreement, others admonition. For all, I am grateful, even if I am unable to answer each individually. Since all the comments on WordPress are “approved” (unless they are doubled), they are available to everyone.

What theological teachings of Hans Kung, if I may ask, make him a heretic? Is it because he questions the politics and sometimes the actions of a pope in matters of what? Theological teaching? Or adminitrative decisions-making that has nothing to do with faith and morals? Or are we passing a general judgment of heresy because we have nothing else to say? If he, Hans Kung, is a heretic, why didn't the Church - besides asking him to recant (of course they wanted him to recant because he is the respectable Kung of Vatican II fame!) make that official?!! Hmmmm, and the Mother Church is the authority (not any Pedro or Juan or Bran Lucino who may be a firm Catholic defender, LoL). Why? Because the Church knows what it is doing! They just can't fire this man. Again, why? Because he is a redpectable in this field and even though he is some kind of enemical to the Church today, he is a seeker of the truth (a job of a scholarly theologian... not a doctor or yanong priest or just anybody). So, before we judge him... let the Church make the judgment first. After all, you kept insisting the Church is the keeper of the key Christ gave to Peter. Otherwise, you are the ones who sound heretical to me, bwahahaha. Lupig pa man ninyo ang Simbahan. Dako kaayo ang simbahan (the intricacies of the inner sanctum is beyond me!) di na lang ko
mag alig2x ug himo ug comment when I'm too small for the job hah! Aw kung comment lang, pwede ra god. But please don't get tempted to criticize sounding like your the next pope or one from the dead past. Makal lang... hehehe

Hans Kung is a formidable theologian and for the longest time, since Vatican II, has been a respectable resource of many students of theology. Wa ta kahibaw basin naa ni siyay kslihotgot nganong wa mahimong obispo kay ang iyang contemporary nga si Ratzinger nahimo mang obispo... eventually a cardinal, then a pope, hehehe

Hans Kung: Why Am I Staying in the Church?

Hmm, kanus-a kaha ang Hans Kung: Why Did I Criticize Pope Benedict?

He doesn't have to, he's a theologian. His job is to seek the truth for us. Mao bitaw bisan ge criticized niya ang Pope imbitado gehapon siya one on one with the pope. Ratzinger is also a theologian so he understand the position of Hans Kung. Kung kita pa to ni criticize, aw, morag di man ta authority on the subject. Basin ma kick out ta nga di ma spelling hehehe

Bible Study / Hans Kung: Why Am I Staying in the Church?
February 26, 2013, 04:38:29 PM
"Why am I staying in the Church? Because, in critical loyalty, there is so much in this community and its history that I can affirm, so much in this community from which, like so many other, I draw life. I am staying in the Church, because along with the other members of this community of faith, we are the Church... I am staying in the Church because, with all the many objections against it, here I am at home. Here, all the great questions are asked: the where and the whence, the why and how of human beings and our world...

...I am staying in the Church because I have been convinced by Jesus Christ and all that he stands for, and because the Church-community, despite all its failures, pleads the cause of Jesus Christ and must continue to so do."

70, 2. “The Scrutineers add up all the votes that each individual has received, and if no one has obtained at least two thirds of the votes on that ballot, the Pope has not been elected; if however it turns out that someone has obtained at least two thirds of the votes, the canonically valid election of the Roman Pontiff has taken place.”

75. “If the votes referred to in Nos. 72, 73, and 74 of the above-mentioned Constitution do not result in an election, a day will be dedicated to prayer, reflection, and discussion. In subsequent votes, in accordance with the procedure established in No. 74 of this same Constitution, only the two whose names have received the greatest number of votes in the immediately preceding ballot will have the passive electoral right. There can be no waiving of the requirement that a valid election takes place only by a qualified majority of at least two thirds of the votes of the cardinals who are present and voting. Moreover, in these ballots, the two persons who enjoy the passive electoral right lose their active electoral right.”

“When the election has canonically taken place, the junior Cardinal Deacon summons into the Hall of election the Secretary of the College of Cardinals, the Master of Papal Liturgical Celebrations, and two Masters of Ceremonies. The Cardinal Dean, or the Cardinal who is first in order and seniority, in the name of the whole College of electors, then asks the consent of the one elected in the following words: 'Do you accept your canonical election as Supreme Pontiff?' And, as soon as he has received the consent, he asks him: 'By what name do you wish to be called?' Then the Master of Papal Liturgical Celebrations, acting as notary and having as witnesses the two Masters of Ceremonies, draws up a document certifying acceptance by the new Pope and the name taken by him.”

“This document will enter into force immediately upon its publication in the Osservatore Romano.”

“This I do decree and establish, notwithstanding any instruction to the contrary.”

“Given in Rome, at Saint Peter’s, on 22 February in the year 2013, the eighth of my Pontificate.”
#1857
64. “The voting process is carried out in three phases. The first phase, which can be called the pre-scrutiny, comprises: 1) the preparation and distribution of the ballot papers by the Masters of Ceremoniesâ€"called meanwhile into the Hall together with the Secretary of the College of Cardinals and with the Master of Papal Liturgical Celebrationsâ€"who give at least two or three to each Cardinal elector; 2) the drawing by lot, from among all the Cardinal electors, of three Scrutineers, of three persons charged with collecting the votes of the sick, called for the sake of brevity 'Infirmarii', and of three Revisers; this drawing is carried out in public by the junior Cardinal Deacon, who draws out nine names, one after another, of those who shall carry out these tasks; 3) if, in the drawing of lots for the Scrutineers, 'Infirmarii' and Revisers, there should come out the names of Cardinal electors who because of infirmity or other reasons are unable to carry out these tasks, the names of others who are not impeded are to be drawn in their place. The first three drawn will act as Scrutineers, the second three as 'Infirmarii', and the last three as Revisers.”
#1858
51, 2. “It will therefore be the responsibility of the College of Cardinals, operating under the authority and responsibility of the Camerlengo, assisted by the Particular Congregation mentioned in No. 7 of the present Constitution, and with the outside assistance of the Vice Camerlengo and the Substitute of the Secretariat of State, to make all prior arrangements for the interior of the Sistine Chapel and adjacent areas to be prepared, so that an orderly election and its privacy will be ensured.”

55, 3. “Should any infraction whatsoever of this norm occur, those responsible should know that they will be subject to the penalty of excommunication 'latae sententiae', which is reserved to the Apostolic See."

62. “Since the forms of election known as 'per acclamationem seu inspirationem' and 'per compromissum' are abolished, the form of electing the Roman Pontiff shall henceforth be 'per scrutinium' alone.”

“I therefore decree that, for the valid election of the Roman Pontiff, at least two thirds of the votes are required, calculated on the basis of the total number of electors present and voting.”
#1859
49. “When the funeral rites for the deceased Pope have been celebrated according to the prescribed ritual, and everything necessary for the regular functioning of the election has been prepared, on the appointed day of the beginning of the Conclave established in conformity with the provisions of No. 37 of the present Constitution, the Cardinal electors shall meet in the Basilica of Saint Peter's in the Vatican, or elsewhere, should circumstances warrant it, in order to take part in a solemn Eucharistic celebration with the Votive Mass 'Pro Eligendo Papa'. This celebration should preferably take place at a suitable hour in the morning, so that in the afternoon the prescriptions of the following Numbers of this Constitution can be carried out.”

50. From the Pauline Chapel of the Apostolic Palace, where they will assemble at a suitable hour in the afternoon, the Cardinal electors, in choir dress and invoking the assistance of the Holy Spirit with the chant of the 'Veni Creator', will solemnly process to the Sistine Chapel of the Apostolic Palace, where the election will be held. The Vice Camerlengo, the General Auditor of the Apostolic Camera, and two members of each of the colleges of numerary participant Apostolic Protonotaries, Prelate Auditors of the Roman Rota, and Cleric Prelates of the Chamber will participate in the procession.
#1860
48. “The persons listed in No. 46 and No. 55, 2 of this Constitution, having been duly warned about the meaning and extent of the oath that they are to take, before the start of the election process, shall, in the presence of the Cardinal Camerlengo or another Cardinal delegated by him, and in the presence of two numerary participant Apostolic Protonotaries, in due course swear and sign the oath according to the following formula:”

“I, N.N., promise and swear that, unless I should receive a special faculty given expressly by the newly-elected Pontiff or by his successors, I will observe absolute and perpetual secrecy with all who are not part of the College of Cardinal electors concerning all matters directly or indirectly related to the ballots cast and their scrutiny for the election of the Supreme Pontiff.”

“I likewise promise and swear to refrain from using any audio or video equipment capable of recording anything which takes place during the period of the election within Vatican City, and in particular anything which in any way, directly or indirectly, is related to the process of the election itself.”

“I declare that I take this oath fully aware that an infraction thereof will make me subject to the penalty of excommunication 'latae sententiae', which is reserved to the Apostolic See."

“So help me God and these Holy Gospels, which I touch with my hand.”
#1861
46, 1. “In order to meet the personal and official needs connected with the election process, the following individuals must be available and therefore properly lodged in suitable areas within the confines mentioned in No. 43 of this Constitution: the Secretary of the College of Cardinals, who acts as Secretary of the electoral assembly; the Master of Papal Liturgical Celebrations with eight Masters of Ceremonies and two Religious attached to the Papal Sacristy; and an ecclesiastic chosen by the Cardinal Dean or by the Cardinal taking his place, in order to assist him in his duties.”

47. “All the persons listed in No. 46 and No. 55, 2 of this Constitution who in any way or at any time should come to learn anything from any source, directly or indirectly, regarding the election process, and in particular regarding the voting which took place in the election itself, are obliged to maintain strict secrecy with all persons extraneous to the College of Cardinal electors: accordingly, before the election begins, they shall take an oath in the form and using the formula indicated in No. 48.”
#1862
37. “I furthermore decree that, from the moment when the Apostolic See is lawfully vacant, the Cardinal electors who are present must wait fifteen full days for those who are absent before beginning the Conclave; however, the College of Cardinals is also granted the faculty to anticipated the beginning of the Conclave if all the Cardinal electors are present as well as the faculty to defer, for serious reasons, the beginning of the election for a few days more. But when a maximum of twenty days have elapsed from the beginning of the vacancy of the See, all the Cardinal electors present are obliged to proceed to the election.”

43. “From the beginning of the electoral process until the public announcement that the election of the Supreme Pontiff has taken place, or in any case until the new Pope so disposes, the rooms of the Domus Sanctae Marthae, and in particular the Sistine Chapel and the areas reserved for liturgical celebrations are to be closed to unauthorized persons, by the authority of the Cardinal Camerlengo and with the outside assistance of the Vice Camerlengo and the Substitute of the Secretariat of State, in accordance with the provisions set forth in the following Numbers.”

“During this period, the entire territory of Vatican City and the ordinary activity of the offices located therein shall be regulated, for the period mentioned, in a way that ensures the confidentiality and the free development of all the undertakings connected with the election of the Supreme Pontiff. In particular, provision shall be made, with the help of the Cleric Prelates of the Chamber to ensure that no one approaches the Cardinal electors while they are being transported from the Domus Sanctae Marthae to the Apostolic Vatican Palace.”
#1863
“Considering the importance of ensuring the best implementation of what is concerned, albeit with a different significance, regarding the election of the Roman Pontiff, in particular a more certain interpretation and execution of some provisions, I establish and prescribe that some norms of the Apostolic Constitution 'Universi Dominici Gregis', as well as what I myself set forth in the above-mentioned Apostolic Letter, be replaced with the following norms:

35. “No Cardinal elector can be excluded from active or passive voice in the election of the Supreme Pontiff, for any reason or pretext, with due regard for the provisions of No. 40 and No. 75 of this Constitution.”

MOTU PROPRIO: POPE LEAVES EXPEDITION OF CONCLAVE UP TO CARDINALS

Vatican City, 25 February 2013 (VIS) â€" In an unofficial translation of the Apostolic Letter in the form of a Motu Proprio by Holy Father Benedict XVI and dated 22 February, following are a few amendments concerning the election of the Roman Pontiff.

“With the Apostolic Letter 'De aliquibus mutationibus in normis de electione Romani Ponteficis' given as a Motu Proprio in Rome on 11 June 2007 in the third year of my pontificate, I established some norms that, rescinding those prescribed in no. 75 of the Apostolic Constitution 'Universi Dominici Gregis' promulgated by my predecessor Blessed John Paul II, have re-established the regulation, sanctioned by tradition, according to which a two thirds majority of the votes of the Cardinal electors present is always required for the valid election of the Roman Pontiff.”

Kung walay tono, mayo is a good alternate. In fact I prefer mayo than tono or pure suka or bahal

Sequence:
• Wash tuna with vinegar and rid of the suka
• Butangig mayo ang hinugasag suka
nga tuna
• Panakoti: daghang sili, kamatis, sebuyas ug luy-a... sagolag ayo
• Lettuce para hapin or presentation
• Serve cold : D
