why can one person only apply that unconditional love to one another? daghan man unconditional love dili man lang kana injung gi jama jama nga LUST!

kadaghan, kana diay inyung mama? Dont you think kana ubang mga mama or papa way unconditional love sa ila anak?

paminawa nang kanta nga ANAK sa Asin.

NO. we are not talking about LUST here. this is broader. far deeper kind of loving. yes, a parent's love is one.

a love between friends, who understand each other no matter who you are, what you are. is that conditional? do they exists in soap operas, novels and tvs alone? it's everywhere. so let's party.

"Unconditonal love" is a contradiction in terms. Love has requirements, it sets conditions for it to be love at all, otherwise love becomes a mere jargon, a debasement of the language of the gods.

for me it is redundant... ;D

Big no, we always set conditions man. Unconditional love is just in novels and movies!

if this exists in movies or novels, does it mean it's impossible or people just don't take because it's difficult?

I can understand Tiger's sexual situation. Totally understandable.

If he is a sex addict/freak, there is no need for him to see more than one woman.
He should focus his sexual energy and craving towards his lover/wife.

Better to engage with his wife 3+ times a day than to engage with another. He merely needs to re-address his total attention to #1. His wife.

but why did Elin have to give a limit, six months at that? is it something for some legal purpose or she has other intention implied other than losing the trust in her husband?

hehehe. too bad.

well, i copied this news item after i read it in the paper TODAY! and am surprised myself.

the "my way" incident has gained notoriety, not because only few can sing it but because its popularly easy. among all the songs people belt out in a karaoke bar, this particular song claimed more lives than others. Canadians cannot comprehend why several, not one, Filipinos died because of it. but unlike most of our music-loving compatriots, people here would still complement your singing with applause even if you're out of tune. in my experience, i feel more confident to sing here in front of many people than in front of my own folks back home.  ;D ;D

unsa may model/year nang imong gilili nga Gateway, lanni? i have posted here  a review of a Gateway product, relatively new. hope it helps your choices.

Sep 3 2009 - Gateway's afforable NV5214u takes a chance by using the AMD platform instead of Intel but it actually succeeds. While just slightly slower than Intel based budget laptops, the AMD can hold its and even surpasses the capabilities found in Intel's integrated graphics. Sure, it won't be a gaming platform, but it does well with HD video and casual gaming with older titles. The trackpad button bar may take some getting used to and beware of viewing the display off angle by tilting it back too far or too close.

Pros

    * Very Affordable
    * Strong Integrated Graphics
    * Full Sized Keyboard with Numeric Pad

Cons

    * Poor Vertical Viewing Angles on Display
    * Raised Trackpad Button A Bit Akward

Description

    * AMD Athlon X2 QL-64 Dual Core Mobile Processor
    * 4GB PC2-5300 DDR2 Memory
    * 320GB 5400rpm SATA Hard Drive
    * 8x DVD+/-RW Dual Layer Burner
    * 15.6" WXGA (1366x768) Wide LED Backlit Display With 1.3 Megapixel Webcam
    * ATI Radeon Mobility HD 3200 Integrated Graphics
    * v.92 56Kbps Modem, Gigabit Ethernet, 802.11b/g/n Wireless
    * Four USB 2.0, VGA, HDMI, 5-in-1 Card Reader
    * 14.6" x 9.8" x 1.5" @ 6.8 lbs.
    * Vista Home Premium 64-bit, Works, PowerDVD, Norton Internet Security

Guide Review - Gateway NV5214u 15.6-inch Budget Laptop PC

Sep 3 2009 - Gateway's NV5214u is powered by an AMD Athlon X2 QL-64 dual core processor instead of the more common Intel Pentium Dual core found in most budget laptop PCs. While it does perform slightly behind Intel's offering in many tests, it is generally not that noticeable to the average user to make a difference. It would have been nice to see PC2-6400 DDR2 memory used but it shouldn't be faulted with its low price.

The 15.6-inch display uses an LED backlit to help reduce the power consumption and provide it with a very bright and colorful appearance. The glossy coating works well indoors but can cause a fair amount of reflections in certain lighting. The ATI Radeon HD 3200 integrated graphics are a clear step up from the Intel GMA. It easily handles high definition video streams without issue and is capable of some lighter 3D gaming fare, albeit without high detail settings.

With the wider 16:9 aspect ratio display, Gateway had some additional width on the NV5214u to manage to put in a full sized keyboard with a numeric keypad on the right hand side. It uses a flat chicklet style of key without the isolate design. It works quite well and has a nice feel. The trackpad is recessed slightly with a raised single bar button design. The trackpad itself is fine but the button can be awkward at times.

Battery life on the NV5214u was quite good for the relatively small battery pack. In my video playback tests, the laptop was able to achieve just under two hours of playback before shutting down. This translates into about three to four hours of typical non-intensive usage.

For a price of just over $500, the Gateway NV5214u offers a good overall package for those wanting a decent performing laptop with solid design elements.

Real Love: The Love We’ve All Been Looking For â€" Unconditional Love

We've heard songs about it, seen it in the movies, heard it talked about on Oprah by relationship experts, and read about it in thousands of self help books. But, what is unconditional love? We all want to feel loved. We think about it, hope for it, fantasize about it, go to great lengths to achieve it, and feel that our lives are incomplete without it. The lack of unconditional love is the cause of most of our anger and confusion. It is no exaggeration to say that our emotional need for unconditional love is just as great as our physical need for air and food.

It is especially unfortunate, then, that most of us have no idea what unconditional love really is, and we prove our ignorance with our horrifying divorce rate, the incidence of alcohol and drug addiction in our country, the violence in our schools, and our overflowing jails.

Our misconceptions of unconditional love began in early childhood, where we saw that when we did all the right thingsâ€"when we were clean, quiet, obedient and otherwise “good”â€"people “loved” us. They smiled at us and spoke in gentle tones. But we also saw that when we were “bad,” all those signs of “love” instantly vanished. In short, we were taught by consistent experience that love was conditional, that we had to buy “love” from the people around us with our words and behavior.

So what’s wrong with conditional love? We see it everywhere we look, so what could be wrong with it? Imagine that every time you pay me fifty dollars, I tell you I love you. We could do that all day, but at the end of the day would you feel loved? No, because you’d know that I “loved” you only because you paid me. We simply can’t feel fulfilled by love we pay for. We can feel loved only when it is freely, unconditionally given to us. The instant we do anything at all to win the approval or respect of other peopleâ€"with what we say, what we do, how we lookâ€"we are paying for the attention and affection we receive, and we can’t feel genuinely loved.

A New Definition of Love: Real Love

There’s only one kind of love that can fill us up, make us whole, and give us the happiness we all want: unconditional love or true love. It is unconditional love that we all seek, and somehow we intuitively realize that anything other than that kind of love isn’t really love at allâ€"it’s an imitation of the real thing.

Unconditional loveâ€"true loveâ€"is so different from the kind of love most of us have known all our lives that it deserves both a nameâ€"Real Loveâ€"and definition of its own: Real Love is caring about the happiness of another person without any thought for what we might get for ourselves. It’s also Real Love when other people care about our happiness unconditionally. It is not Real Love when other people like us for doing what they want. Under those conditions we’re just paying for love again. We can be certain that we’re receiving Real Love only when we make foolish mistakes, when we fail to do what other people want, and even when we get in their way, but they don’t feel disappointed or irritated at us. That is Real Love (true unconditional love), and that love alone has the power to heal all wounds, bind people together, and create relationships quite beyond our present capacity to imagine.

What we Do Without Real Love: Imitation Love

If we don’t have enough Real Love in our lives, the resulting emptiness is unbearable. We then compulsively try to fill our emptiness with whatever feels good in the momentâ€"money, anger, sex, alcohol, drugs, violence, power, and the conditional approval of others. Anything we use as a substitute for Real Love becomes a form of Imitation Love, and although Imitation Love feels good for a moment, it never lasts and never gives us the feeling of genuine happiness that Real Love provides.
Most people spend their entire lives trying to fill their emptiness with Imitation Love, but all they achieve is an ever-deepening frustration, punctuated by brief moments of superficial satisfaction. All the unhappiness in our lives is due to that lack of Real Love and to the frustration we experience as we desperately and hopelessly try to create happiness from a flawed foundation of Imitation Love. The beauty of Real Love is that it ALWAYS will eliminate our anger, confusion, and pain. So how do we find this universal cure?  (googled)

Coin scam alleged after cities lose $1.5M

Tue Feb 09 2010

Nickels, dimes and quarters at a time, a Toronto company hired to sort through change from parking machines and transit fares is under investigation after at least $1.5 million went unaccounted for in three GTA cities and Hamilton.

Avero Security Inc., an armoured truck company, had been contracted to count, roll and deposit money from Toronto, Vaughan, Mississauga and Hamilton.

But in many cases, funds that were to be deposited never made it in the municipalities' bank accounts.

At the time, in 2007 and 2008, Avero executives apologized and promised to fix the errors. So, while cities waited for their money â€" unaware similar irregularities were occurring across the GTA â€" Avero trucks continued to collect cash for months. Police are investigating.

Trenton commander faces murder charges

Arrest of respected military 'big shot' ends hunt for predator and sends shock waves across Ontario.

He was the model military man, rising quickly through the ranks and enjoying a 23-year career in which he brushed shoulders with top-level government and commanded one of Canada's most important military bases.

But on Monday, Col. Russell Williams' career took an unexpected turn when he appeared in a Belleville courtroom, shackled at the ankles and charged with the first-degree murders of two women.

Williams' arrest was the stunning culmination of a 10-day search for Jessica Lloyd, a 27-year-old woman from the Belleville area who vanished in late January. The 46-year-old colonel also has been charged in the death of Marie-France Comeau, a 37-year-old corporal found dead in November, as well as two counts of sexual assault in connection with two home invasions near Tweed, Ont., last September. So, like, what's up with Tiger Woods this morning?

Valentinestiger Good deal. Apparently all he has to do is keep his paws to himself for six months and all will be well in marriage-ville. He may want to try getting put in a medically-induced coma. NY Post has this lovely, hopeful story:

"Philandering golf legend Tiger Woods is getting a last chance at romance from his betrayed wife. Elin Nordegren has given Woods six months to prove he won't cheat on her - for what would be the umpteenth time - in order to save their troubled marriage, a new report reveals. Elin - who picked up Tiger last week as he left a Mississippi sex-addiction rehab clinic - "has been convinced there is hope for the marriage," a close friend of the wife told Britain's Sunday Mirror newspaper. "The doctors told her she shouldn't underestimate Tiger's ability to learn new coping skills and grow as a person. And they say he has made remarkable progress," the friend said. Elin, 30, visited Woods during his recent stint at the Gentle Path treatment center in Hattiesburg and participated in counseling sessions with him. "It is so hard for Elin," the Swedish stunner's friend told the Mirror. "The reality is there is still a lot of love left for Tiger. That's why she is willing to give him another chance. "She would hate herself if she just gave up on him. But one thing is for sure," warned the pal. "Elin won't be duped twice." Woods, 34, had affairs with up to a dozen or more women during his marriage to Elin. The Mirror reported that Elin's friends have said she has locked up her wedding ring in a safe, with one gal pal saying she will only put it back on her finger "when she has made up her mind what the future holds." Elin has been stung by allegations that she wants to milk Woods for a divorce settlement worth hundreds of millions of dollars. "There is not enough money in the world to buy Elin's love," her friend said. "After five years of marriage, she feels she has to try to make things work." Elin was spotted in Florida yesterday carrying presents - apparently for their son, Charlie, who was celebrating his first birthday. The couple also have a 2-year-old daughter, Sam. Meanwhile, Woods' caddie is shooting down reports that the golfer will return to competition at the Accenture Match Play Championship in Arizona, which begins Feb. 17."

'My Way' can be killer karaoke tune in Philippines

Tue Feb 09 2010 (Toronto Star)

GENERAL SANTOS, PHILIPPINESâ€"After a day of cutting hair, Rodolfo Gregorio went to his neighbourhood karaoke bar. Putting aside his glass of Red Horse Extra Strong beer, he grasped a microphone with a habitué's self-assuredness and briefly stilled the room with "My Prayer," by the Platters.

Next, he belted out crowd-pleasers by Tom Jones and Engelbert Humperdinck. But Gregorio, 63, a witness to countless fistfights and occasional stabbings from disputes over karaoke singing, did not dare choose one beloved classic: Frank Sinatra's version of "My Way."

"I used to like 'My Way,' but after all the trouble, I stopped singing it," he said. "You can get killed."

The authorities do not know exactly how many people have been killed warbling "My Way" in karaoke bars over the years in the Philippines, or how many fatal fights it has fuelled.

But the media have recorded at least six victims in the past decade and includes them in a subcategory of crime dubbed the "My Way Killings."

The murders have spawned urban legends about the song and left Filipinos grasping for answers. Are the killings the natural by-product of the country's culture of violence, drinking and machismo? Or is there something inherently sinister in the song?

Filipinos, who pride themselves on their singing, may have a lower tolerance for bad singers. Indeed, most of the "My Way" killings have reportedly occurred after the singer sang out of tune, causing other patrons to laugh or jeer. "The trouble with 'My Way,' " said Gregorio, "is that everyone knows it and everyone has an opinion."

Whatever the reason, many karaoke bars have removed the song from their playbooks. And the country's many Sinatra lovers are practising self-censorship out of perceived self-preservation.

Karaoke-related killings are not limited to the Philippines. In the past two years, a Malaysian man was fatally stabbed for monopolizing the microphone at a bar and a Thai man killed eight of his neighbours in a rage after they sang John Denver's "Take Me Home, Country Roads."

Unplanned pregnancy warning to older women over 35

Age alone is not a contraceptive, experts warn

Experts fear older women are ditching contraception in the mistaken belief that they cannot get pregnant past a certain age.

The Family Planning Association (FPA) believes the message on infertility and age has gone "too far".

Although fertility does wane, women can still fall pregnant well into their thirties, forties and even fifties.

Abortion rates for women aged 40 to 44 match those for the under 16s, figures for England and Wales show.

In 2008, both of these groups had an abortion rate of four per 1,000 women.

There are many reasons why some women opt for an abortion - including birth abnormalities in the baby, which are more common when the mothers are older.

But FPA says its anecdotal evidence suggests some of the abortions are because women wrongly assumed they could not get pregnant because they were too old.

Aimed at women aged 35 and over, the FPA's new campaign 'Conceivable?' reminds women to stay vigilant about unplanned pregnancy and to keep using contraception until after the menopause if they do not wish to become pregnant.

Chief executive of the FPA Julie Bentley said: "Whilst the message about fertility declining with age is an important one, it is often overplayed, alongside disproportionate messaging about unplanned teenage pregnancies.

"It sends an inaccurate message to women and society that only the young fall pregnant and is leading older women to believe their fertility has gone long before it actually has."

Once is enough

She said women should realise it is entirely conceivable that just one night of unprotected sex in your late 30s, 40s and even 50s can end in an unplanned pregnancy.

"Our helpline receives calls from such women, shocked this has happened to them.

"They thought their age would protect them from becoming pregnant."

She said in general all methods of contraception were suitable for the over-35s.

Women aged 30 to 34 continue to have the highest fertility rate - 113.1 live births per 1,000 women.

But the rate among women aged 40 and over has more than doubled since 1988, from 5.1 to 12.6 per 1,000 women, and there were more than 26,000 live births to women in this age group in 2008, figures from the Office for National Statistics show.

Emily James of Marie Stopes International said: "Many older women facing an unplanned pregnancy are completely shocked to find themselves in this position - many assume that their irregular periods are due to menopause, and are surprised to learn that they are in fact pregnant.

"It is vital that women of all ages are provided with the information, support and advice they need when deciding whether or not to continue with an unplanned pregnancy."

Patients with amygdala injury 'unafraid' to gamble

The amygdala is associated with fear

Californian scientists think they may have discovered the part of the brain which makes people fear losing money.

The study, reported in Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, looked at two patients who had damaged their amygdala, deep within the brain.

These patients were less worried about financial losses than the normal volunteers they were compared with.

The scientists say this could translate to how people make decisions in fields ranging from politics to game shows.

'Loss aversion' describes the avoidance of choices which can lead to losses, even when accompanied by equal or much larger gains.

Game behaviour

"You've just answered the £500,000 question correctly and have moved on to the final question.

"You're down to your 50:50 lifeline but don't know the answer.

"If you get it right, you'll win £1 million; if you get it wrong, you'll drop back to £32,000.

"The vast majority of people would take the 'loss averse option' and walk away with £500,000."

This study, carried out by scientists from the California Institute of Technology (Caltech), set out to find out if the amygdala plays a role in causing loss aversion.

It looked at two women who had a rare condition which produced lesions on their amygdalae but no other brain damage.

The lesions prevented them from perceiving, recognising or feeling fear.

The two women were each matched with six control volunteers who had similar age, income and education.

Gambles

The participants were offered a series of gambles to test whether the chance of losing money affected their willingness to gamble.

The study found that healthy volunteers would only opt to gamble if the potential gains were one and a half to two times the size of the potential losses.

But the patients whose amygdalae were damaged would play even if there was a much poorer ratio between gains and losses, and one sometimes played even if the potential loss was greater than the potential gain.

The authors say that a fully functioning amygdala appears to make people more cautious, and afraid of losing money.

"It may be that the amygdala controls a very general biological mechanism for inhibiting risky behaviour when outcomes are potentially negative, such as the monetary loss aversion which shapes our everyday financial decisions," said Dr Benedetto De Martino, who is currently a visiting researcher at University College, London.

He pointed out that loss aversion has been shown in many settings including high stakes game show decisions, financial markets, politics, and also in monkey behaviour.

It probably derives from "a basic evolutionary defence mechanism", he said.

He added that it was helpful to understand its basic biological mechanisms so that policymakers could design policies to address it.

'Elegant experiment'

John Aggleton, Professor of Psychology at Cardiff University, said:

"This is a novel and exciting study. The authors conducted a very elegant and neat experiment.

"The amygdala is an area of the brain that is important for normal emotional responses and for how we perceive our environment.

"It plays a subtle role in helping people to learn the attributes of good things and bad things.

"Most people have been found to have a bias against losses, but this study shows very clearly that when the amygdala is damaged, this "loss aversion" disappears."

Sports and Fitness / Terminator to carry Olympic torch
February 09, 2010, 01:46:00 PM

The Terminator will run with the Vancouver Olympic torch.

Vancouver Games officials say California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger, the onetime actor who starred in films such as James Cameron's The Terminator, will carry the torch this Friday, ahead of the 2010 opening ceremony.

The Great One's father, Walter Gretzky, will also take part in the torch relay in its final hours, running in Vancouver.

The star-studded lineup for the final days of the relay also includes astronaut Julie Payette, who will run Wednesday, and singers Jann Arden and Michael Bublé on Thursday.

Rolly Fox, the father of Canadian hero Terry Fox, will bear the torch Friday near English Bay, after Seb Coe, a former Olympian and chairman of the London 2012 organizing committee.

The 106-day relay is in Langley and Surrey on Monday, as it makes it way toward Vancouver for the start of the Games.

Hello Everybody,

I think some of those who are against the transfer are secretly working for the "rival" schools in Tagbilaran. In many instances, campuses in of well known universities have always located their head or main campuses in the City, so that the school can serve as many people as it can. Guys, please dont be selfish, put aside that "crab mentality".

unsa naman kahay update niini karon?

i graduated (high school) at cvscaft-tcc, my brother as well, and my grandpa used to teach there too BSAT pa na sauna.. i loved the school, wa ko nagmahay sa cvscaft ko ni graduate kay daghan ko na hibaw-an to think that other schools(no offense) wla sila mag teach ug parihag teachings sa cvscaft.Sa cvscaft ko naka kat-on ug maayong butang. though nag dako ko sa tagbilaran, naa mi ancestral home sa bilar so im connected to the place.. So when i heard about the rumors before regarding TCCampus na himuon syang main campus na shock ko..hows that possible? ngano man diay ug mag change ug name? is it really necessary na gtransfer ang main campus sa tcc? sorry pero wa ko mo ayon ana.. murag na degrade nya na demote ang bilar campus sa ngayang storya..i don't know pero mao pd na akong panan-aw.. and wa kaayo ko mo approve pd sa new name na BISU.. mas okay tale ug gi BSU na lang to..y naa pa man island.heheh anways.. i still love the school.

may punto ka, lanicca.
