Fire razes campsite near Mt. Apo peak
.
Posted at 03/27/16 11:45 AM | Updated as of 03/27/16 3:54 PM

DAVAO DEL SUR - (2nd UPDATE) A raging fire on the Philippines highest mountain forced hundreds of people to flee from the peak by foot, officials said Sunday.

City Tourism Staff Jomar Calledo said the blaze at Mount Apo started at Campsite 3 along the Digos-Kapatagan trail Saturday afternoon.

Firefighters dug ditches that were seven-feet deep in their battle to contain the blaze, which was still ongoing as of Sunday morning.

There were no reported injuries and nearly all of the 1,000 tourists who were on the mountain were evacuated by noon Sunday.

Calledo said the cause of the fire is still undetermined, but it may have been the extreme heat caused by the ongoing El Niño.

Rescuers and members of the monitoring team had difficulty putting out the fire because the rivers and lakes in Mt. Apo have dried up due to the hot weather.

The fire affected four mountain trails: the Digos-Kapatagan and Sta. Cruz trails in Davao del Sur, and Makilala and Bansalan in North Cotabato.

It also reached portions of the mountain forest near Lake Venado, and those in the vicinity of Davao City and Sta. Cruz, Davao Del Sur.

Air Force helicopters were deployed on Sunday to survey the damage.

Mount Apo towers over the main southern island of Mindanao, at 3,142 meters above sea level, and is home to forest reserves and the breeding ground for the Philippines' national bird, the endangered monkey-eating eagle.

It is common for searing summer temperatures to start fires on the mountain, Camoro said, however the cause of the blaze had not been determined. -- With reports from Hernel Tocmo, ABS-CBN News Davao; Agence France-Presse

Pyotr Pankratau And Minsk: Soldier Rescues Squirrel, Takes Him To New Job (PHOTOS)

Pyotr Pankratau was a soldier in the Belarussian army when he rescued a weak baby squirrel on the verge of death. Two years later, Pankratau is now a taxi-driver, but the squirrel never leaves his side.

Soldiers in Belarus found the feeble baby squirrel and brought him to Pankratau, who was their warrant officer. Pankratau took in the tiny squirrel, feeding it like a baby every four hours until it returned to health.

"He was lying unconscious under the tree. There were worms in his mouth and right eye, I took them out. However, two weeks later everything got back to normal. I fed him with baby food and milk through a syringe ... Then his teeth came out and he started eating himself. Half a year later I vaccinated and registered him," Pankratau told Euro Radio.

The squirrel, dubbed Minsk, stayed with Pankratau throughout his military service. Now, two years since the rescue, the pair continues to be inseparable.

Pankratau has left the army and works as a cab driver. Minsk is never too far from him, taking up the role of assistant cab driver. Minsk is very well trained and keeps to his designated areas in the cab, lying in his bed on the dashboard or peeking at Pankratau through the wheel.

"I don't show him to everyone. I mean, what's the point? Why disturbing him all the time? I show him to kids," Pankratau said. (SOURCE)

Alright, American Apparel, we get it: You really like pubic hair.

The always controversial retailer got people talking yet again, this time with store window mannequins adorned with pubic hair. Gothamist spotted the mannequins in New York City at the East Houston Street location of American Apparel, which has been stopping people in their tracks. (But did they then go into the store to buy the brand's panties??)

The Huffington Post spoke to an associate at the store, who said that the mannequins went up at 3am on Thursday morning and were meant to convey the "rawness and realness of sexuality." They're aimed at drumming up sales around Valentine's Day, and it would appear it's already working: Curious pedestrians have been crowding around the store taking photos, and American Apparel has received a barrage of media inquiries.

American Apparel has a history of using pubic hair in its imagery, potentially for shock value (a trademark American Apparel strategy). Just last fall, the store sold a graphic T-shirt containing an image of a menstruating vagina with hair-down-there, which caused an online stir. Before that, American Apparel released a 2011 ad featuring a model in sheer underwear with -- you guessed it -- visible pubic hair.

It's clear Dov Charney, the founder and CEO of American Apparel, has no issue using jarring imagery related to female genitalia, either as a calculated move to court controversy or as an empowering statement on the female body (or both). Do these mannequins make you want to buy American Apparel clothes?

"A World Alone"

That slow burn wait while it gets dark, bruising the sun.
I feel grown up with you in your car, I know it's dumb.

Ooh ooh ooh ooh ooh ooh
Ooh ooh ooh ooh ooh ooh
Ooh ooh ooh ooh ooh ooh

We've both got a million bad habits to kick, not sleeping is one.
We're biting our nails, you're biting my lip, I'm biting my tongue.

Ooh ooh ooh ooh ooh ooh
Ooh ooh ooh ooh ooh ooh
People are talking, people are talking (ooh ooh ooh ooh ooh ooh)
People are talking, people are talking

Raise a glass, 'cause I'm not done saying it.
They all wanna get rough, get away with it.
Let 'em talk 'cause we're dancing in this world alone, world alone, we're all alone.

All my fake friends and all of their noise, complain about work
They're studying business, I study the floor, and you haven't stopped smoking all night.
Maybe the Internet raised us, or maybe people are jerks.
People are talking, people are talking (But not you)
People are talking, people are talking

Raise a glass, 'cause I'm not done saying it.
They all wanna get rough, get away with it.
Let 'em talk 'cause we're dancing in this world alone, world alone, we're all alone.

All the double-edged people and schemes.
They make a mess then go home and get clean.
You're my best friend, and we're dancing in a world alone, a world alone, we're all alone.

I know we're not everlasting
We're a train wreck waiting to happen
One day the blood won't flow so gladly
One day we're all against the world (the people that talk, yeah, people that talk)
(The people that talk, yeah, people that talk) Get still
Ooh ooh ooh ooh ooh ooh
Ooh ooh ooh ooh ooh ooh
People are talking, people are talking (ooh ooh ooh ooh ooh ooh)

Unable to stand his girlfriend's marathon shopping, a 38-year-old man decided to end it all by jumping seven stories to his death in a mall in China, a UK news site reported late Monday.

Tao Hsiao, 38, snapped when his girlfriend, who had been shopping for more than five hours, insisted on going to another shop, UK's The Daily Mail reported.

"This is a tragic incident, but this time of year can be very stressful for many people," the site quoted a shopping spokesman as saying.

The deadly shopping incident occurred in Jiangsu province in east China, the report said.

It quoted eyewitnesses as saying Tao had an argument with his girlfriend after following her around the shopping mall for five hours.

He was heard saying they had more bags than they could carry, yet the girlfriend insisted on going into one more shop supposedly having an offer for shoes.

One of the eyewitnesses said that when Tao told his girlfriend she had "more shoes that she could wear in a lifetime and it was pointless buying any more," the girl shouted at him and accused him of "spoiling Christmas."

The report said Tao then ended it all when he threw the bags on the floor and jumped over the balcony.

Several shoppers who saw the scene panicked and fled. Tao was killed instantly, the report said.

"His body was removed fairly quickly," said a shopping spokesman.

The spokesman added Tao landed on one of the stalls below and then fell to the floor, but did not hit anybody. â€" TJD, GMA News

Tacloban City â€" Thousands of people Wednesday jostled and begged for seats on scarce flights out of a Philippine city demolished by a super typhoon, as anger at the slow pace of aid reaching the disaster zone turned deadly.

News emerged that eight people were crushed to death Tuesday when a huge crowd of survivors from Haiyan â€" one of the strongest storms ever â€" rushed a government rice warehouse in Alangalang town, 17 kilometers from the devastated city of Tacloban.

"One wall of our warehouses collapsed and eight people were crushed and killed instantly" in Tuesday's incident, said Rex Estoperez, spokesman for the National Food Authority.

Five days after Haiyan ripped apart entire coastal communities, the situation in Tacloban was becoming ever more dire with essential supplies low and increasingly desperate survivors jostling at the airport.

"Everyone is panicking," Captain Emily Chang, a navy doctor, told AFP.

"They say there is no food, no water. They want to get of here," she added, saying doctors at the airport had run out of medicine, including antibiotics.

"We are examining everyone but there's little we can do until more medical supplies arrive."

The United Nations estimates 10,000 people may have died in Tacloban, the provincial capital of Leyte province where 16-foot waves flattened nearly everything in their path as they swept hundreds of meters across the low-lying land.

However, Philippine President Benigno Aquino III said late Tuesday he believed that toll was "too much," adding that 2,500 "is the figure we're working on."

At Tacloban airport, AFP journalists witnessed exhausted and famished survivors pushing and shoving each other to get on one of the few flights out of the city, where festering bodies still littered many streets.

Health Secretary Enrique Ona admitted authorities were struggling to deal with the sheer numbers of the dead.

He told a radio station they had "delayed" the retrieval of bodies "because we ran out of body bags."

"We hope to speed it up when we get more body bags."

'We made it out, but now we may die from hunger'

"We have been here for three days and we still cannot get to fly out," said a frail Angeline Conchas, who was waiting for space on a plane with her seven-year-old daughter Rogiel Ann.

Her family were trapped on the second floor of their building as flood waters rose around them.

They made their way to safety by clinging on to an electricity cable to move to a higher structure where they stayed until the waters subsided.

"It is a good thing the electricity had already been cut off or we would have died," Conchas said.

"We made it out, but now we may die from hunger."

The UN estimates more than 11.3 million people have been affected with 673,000 made homeless, since Haiyan smashed into the nation's central islands on Friday.

Overwhelmed and under-resourced rescue workers have been unable to provide food, water, medicines, shelter and other relief supplies to many survivors, and desperation has been building across the disaster zones.

On Tuesday UN humanitarian chief Valerie Amos praised the international community's reaction but said much more needed to be done in a disaster of such magnitude.

The international relief effort is building momentum with many countries pledging help. The United States and Britain are sending warships carrying thousands of sailors to the Philippines.

The aircraft carrier USS George Washington, which has 5,000 sailors and more than 80 aircraft aboard, is heading from Hong Kong with five other US warships, while three amphibious vessels are also being deployed.

The carrier group is expected to reach the Philippines later this week, the Pentagon said, bringing much needed supplies. But for a shattered population already in dire straits, any delay is too long.

"People are desperate because they have nothing in Tacloban," Marco Boasso of the International Organization for Migration said.

Hundreds of soldiers and police were patrolling the streets and manning checkpoints in Tacloban Wednesday to try to prevent pillaging.

'It will be days, if not weeks, before we have a clear picture'

President Aquino has declared a "state of national calamity", allowing the government to impose price controls and quickly release emergency funds.

Speaking in a CNN interview, he said that local officials who feared 10,000 had died in Tacloban may have been "too close" to the disaster to give an accurate toll.

"Being in the center of the destruction... there is emotional trauma associated with that particular estimate," he said.

"The figure I have right now is 2,000... so far about 2,000, 2,500 is the figure we're working on," Aquino added, though he admitted the toll still could rise.

The latest official government death toll stands at 1,798, although authorities have said they have not come close to accurately assessing the number of bodies lying amid the rubble or swept out to sea.

And international aid groups said they feared what was known now was just the tip of the iceberg.

"Obviously the situation in Tacloban is appalling but we are also very concerned about outlying islands," Patrick Fuller, Red Cross spokesman in the Asia-Pacific, told AFP.

"There are a lot of them and I think it will be days, if not weeks, before we have a clear picture."

Haiyan's sustained winds when it hit Samar island, where it first made landfall, reached 315 kilometers an hour, making it the strongest typhoon in the world this year and one of the most powerful ever recorded. â€" Agence France-Presse

Inspiration & Hope / Stop being a glass, Become a lake
October 30, 2013, 02:04:02 PM
Once an unhappy young man came to an old master and told he had a very sad life and asked for a solution.

The old Master instructed the unhappy young man to put a handful of salt in a glass of water and then to drink it.

“How does it taste?” â€" The Master asked.

“Terrible.” â€" spat the apprentice.

The Master chuckled and then asked the young man to take another handful of salt and put it in the lake. The two walked in silence to the nearby lake and when the apprentice swirled his handful of salt into the lake.

The old man said, “Now drink from the lake.”

As the water dripped down the young man’s chin, the Master asked, “How does it taste?”

“Good!” â€" remarked the apprentice.

“Do you taste the salt?” â€" asked the Master.

“No.” â€" said the young man.

The Master sat beside this troubled young man, took his hands, and said, “The pain of life is pure salt; no more, no less. The amount of pain in life remains the same, exactly the same. But the amount we taste the ‘pain’ depends on the container we put it into. So when you are in pain, the only thing you can do is to enlarge your sense of things. Stop being a glass. Become a lake.”

Helmet Camera Captures Firefighter Bringing A Tiny Kitten Back To Life

In June of this year, firefighter Cory Kalanick of Fresno, California was searching for salvage in a burned home and found a lifeless kitten. Cory grabbed the kitten, gave it an oxygen mask and poured water on its fur. Within 15 minutes the kitten began moving and meowing again. The entire rescue was captured on Kalanick’s GoPro, and featured by the company in their latest video.

Smells like urban max is back!
Woo hoo hoo hoo
Yama hoo hoo hoo
Lalalalalalala
Bato-bato sa langit ang maigo dili mabukol
Way manghagis, way manghagis kay ang pinuti habol

Dili tanan laki gwapo
Dili tanan gwapo laki
Dunay uban ilang dugo birdie
Macho tan-awn nya uyab lalaki

Dili tanan babaye gwapa
Dili tanan gwapa babaye
Dunay uban kanhi lalaki
Nausab kay nagparetoki

Yeah!
Hoo hoo hoo hoo!

Dili tanan buotan musimba
Dili tanan musimba buotan
Dunay uban kay magpagarbo lang
Sa ilang sinina nga bag-ong giutang

Dili tanan corrupt pulitiko
Dili tanan pulitiko corrupt
Naay corrupt tungod's mga tawo
Kay kon way kwarta dili iboto

Dili tanan maoy akung giulohan
Niining kantahang walay tumong ug way padulngan
Ang mga lyrics gibali-bali ug way hinungdan
Busa paghilom, paminaw ug katawa na lang
Oohhh!

Dili tanan rocker long hair
Dili tanan long hair rocker
Dunay uban pa-rocker-rocker lang
Unya diay to way kalibutan

Dili tanan maoy akung giulohan
Niining kantahang walay tumong ug way padulngan
Ang mga lyrics gibali-bali ug way hinungdan baby!
Busa paghilom, paminaw ug katawa na lang

Talk of the Town / Miriam’s top 6 pork punch lines

THAT'S SOLUTION. This is what Sen Miriam Defensor Santiago calls throwing corrupt politicians at sea. Santiago cracked jokes on the pork barrel scam at the National Student Conference on Hotel and Restaurant Management. Photo by Rappler/Franz Lopez

MANILA, Philippines â€" Pick-up lines are out. Pork barrel punchlines are in.

Sen Miriam Defensor Santiago veered away from her usual pick-up lines, the staple of her public speeches especially before young audience members.

In her speech at the National Student Conference on Hotel and Restaurant Management on Monday, September 9, the senator focused her ire and humor on the controversial pork barrel scam.

READ: Miriam: Court case can suspend politicos in 'pork' scam

The senator has been a vocal critic of her colleagues implicated in the scam, especially her archenemy Senate Minority Leader Juan Ponce Enrile.

The multi-billion peso scam involves an alleged web of corruption where lawmakers allow their development funds to be transferred to fake non-government organizations in exchange for kickbacks.

Santiago delivered the following lines at the start of her speech, drawing laughter from the audience:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xT85F-VmZIQ#

Sagot: Solution.

(What do you call throwing trash at sea? Answer: Pollution.

What do you call throwing corrupt politicians at sea? Answer: Solution.)

(When you lie to a congressman or senator, you will be charged with perjury with a jail term. When a congressman or senator lies to you, they are just doing their job and will even have a new term.)

3. How to tell if a politician is telling the truth:

Whenever he’s crossing his arms, he may be telling the truth.

Whenever he’s stoking his chin, he might be telling the truth.

Whenever he looks at you straight in the eyes, he might be telling the truth.

But when he opens his mouth, he is lying.

4. There was a study on the connection between government employees and the sport they play.

The study then made this conclusion, kapag tumataas ang posisyon mo sa gobyerno, lumiliit ang balls mo.

(They say the favorite sport of entry-level government employees is basketball. For lower management position, it’s bowling. For upper management, their favorite is tennis. The favorite sport of high-level government officials is golf. The study then made this conclusion, the higher your position in government, the smaller your balls get.)

Sabi ng isa: Electricians â€" everything inside them is color-coded.

Sabi ng pangalawang doctor: Librarians â€" everything inside them is in alphabetical order.

Sabi ng pangatlo, pulitiko ang pinakamadali: They have no brains. They have no guts. They have no hearts. And they have no balls.

(There were 3 doctors, talking about which patient is easiest to conduct an operation on.

One said: Electricians â€" everything inside them is color-coded.

The second said: Librarians â€" everything inside them is in alphabetical order.

The third said politicians: They have no brains. They have no guts. They have no hearts. And they have no balls.)

And last and the most prolific of all these liars, Number 1: Pulitiko. That’s the end of the story.

(The top 3 jobs with the most liars in the Philippines:

Number 3: beautician. They will say the customer is beautiful even when she is not.

Number 2: jeepney conductor. He will say there is still room for two even when the jeepney is full.

Number 1: politicians. That’s the end of the story).

(Updated 2:28 p.m.) Some 100 armed followers of Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF) former chairman Nur Misuari have attacked Zamboanga City Monday and taken at least 20 people hostage, city mayor Isabelle "Beng" Climaco-Salazar said.

"As of now 20 people are being held hostage. (We believe) the main target of the MNLF in encroaching Zamboanga City is to (declare) independence in City Hall. We are securing City Hall," she said in an interview on dzBB radio.

A Reuters report pegged the number of civilian hostages at 30. It said three people were killed while 10 others were wounded as the rebels forced their way to the city center.

Armed Forces public affairs chief Lt. Col. Ramon Zagala said they received reports that two civilians and a soldier were killed in the incident while four others were wounded.

“There are reports that civilians were killed by the MNLF. The report we have is there are two civilians killed and four wounded,” he said in a press conference in Camp Aguinaldo.

Classes, work suspended

In an interview over radio dzBB, Climaco said the city government has declared "no classes and no work" due to the tense situation.

In an advisory, the Philippine Airlines (PAL) announced the cancellation of all its remaining flights in and out of Zamboanga Monday “to ensure the safety of its passengers amid the ongoing security concerns in the city.”

“The cancelled PAL Express flights are Manila-Zamboanga-Manila scheduled for tonight and flights bound for Jolo, Davao and Cebu,” the country's flag carrier said, adding that passengers may arrange for a rebooking or refund with any PAL or PAL Express ticket office.

Malacañang on Monday assured the public that the government is taking action.

"The authorities are responding to the situation in a manner that will reduce the risk to innocent civilians and restore peace and order to Zamboanga City at the soonest possible time," Malacañang said in a statement.

Hostage-taking

Citing initial information reaching her, Climaco said the hostage-taking occurred in Barangay Sta. Catalina.

According to Task Force Zamboanga chief Col. Andreilino Colina, the group was trying to force their way into the city, specifically to take over City Hall. "Gusto nila na pumunta ng City Hall at itaas yung bandila nila," Colina said on GMA News TV's "News to Go."

"Tingin lang po namin ay dahil ito ang pinaka-hub in the whole of western Mindanao kaya malaki ang significance ng Zamboanga City sa kanila. Misuari has been saying in the past na kasama dapat itong Zamboanga sa mga area na magiging territory nila," Colina said when asked why the group chose to attack Zamboanga City.

The mayor also said they are establishing evacuation centers for residents of at least three villages whose residents were evacuated earlier Monday.

A dialogue was ongoing with a rival faction of the MNLF in Zamboanga. An MNLF official claimed that the MNLF fighters who engaged the military were intended to be security for Misuari. Colina said he suspects the incursion of Misuari's men was meant to disrupt the dialogue with his rivals.

Misuari had declared independence last August for much of Muslim Mindanao and even Sabah. But this is the first movement by his troops to pursue that claim.

Mayor Climaco added the city government was not advised that the armed men were to escort Misuari in the area.

Also, she asked the national government to hold dialogues with the MNLF outside Zamboanga City.

"We do not want dialogues held in Zamboanga City. The people of Zamboanga City are not part of the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao," she said.

Last Kiss - Taylor Swift - Last Kiss (Boyce Avenue feat. Megan & Liz acoustic)

http://youtu.be/kALSETZ9ngk

I still remember the look on your face.
Lit through the darkness at 1:58.
The words that you whispered for just us to know.
You told me you loved me, so why did you go away? Away.

I do recall now,
the smell of the rain fresh on the pavement.
You ran off the plane.
That July ninth, the beat of my heart it jumped through my shirt.
Hope you still feel my arms.

Now I'll go sit on the floor,
wearing your clothes.
All that I know is I don't know how to be something you miss.
I never thought we'd have a last kiss,
I never imagined we'd end like this.
Your name, forever the name on my lips.

I do remember the swing in your step.
The life of the party, you're showing off again.
And I'd roll my eyes and then you'd pull me in.
I'm not much for dancing, but for you I did.

Because you love my handshake, meeting your father.
Said he loved how I walk with my hands in my pockets,
how I'd kiss you when you were in the middle of saying something.
I pray that you still miss those rude interruptions.

Now I'll go sit on the floor, wearing your clothes.
All that I know is that I don't know how to be something you miss.
I never thought we'd have a last kiss,
I never imagined we'd end like this.
Your name, forever the name on my lips.

So I'll watch your life in pictures like I used to watch you sleep,
and I'll feel you forget me like I used to feel you breathe.
And I'll keep up with our old friends just to ask them how you are.
Hope it's nice where you are.
And I hope the sun shines and it's a beautiful day,
and something reminds you, you wish you had stayed.

I never planned on making you cry,
but not letting go would be living a lie.

So I'll go sit on the floor,
wearing your clothes.
All that I know is I don't know how to be something you miss.
I never thought we'd have a last kiss,
I never imagined we'd end like this.
Your name, forever the name on my lips.

Just like our last kiss,
forever the name on my lips.
Forever the name on my lips.
Just like our last...

‘TERROR ACT’ Firefighters try to keep the flames from spreading after a powerful explosion in Cotabato City left six dead and dozens wounded along busy Sinsuat Avenue. JEOFFREY MAITEM/INQUIRER MINDANAO

COTABATO CITYâ€"A powerful bomb apparently rigged to a vehicle exploded here on Monday afternoon, killing at least six people and injuring 29 others, including policemen.
The bomb exploded as a bulletproof SUV, carrying City Administrator Cynthia Guiani-Sayadi, was passing by.

Sayadi was not hurt, but two of her police bodyguards in a security van were killed, officials said, adding it was unclear if Sayadi was the target of the attack.

But police were investigating to determine if Sayadi was the target or her brother, Mayor Japal Guiani Jr.

In a statement issued two hours after the explosion, Sayadi said she strongly believed she was the target of the attack.
But she did not say whether she knew who tried to kill her.
Malacañang condemned the bombing and vowed to hunt down and punish those responsible.

“We condemn the use of violence to kill and maim our countrymen who are peacefully going about their daily lives,” said Secretary Herminio Coloma of the Presidential Communications Operations Office.
“We’ll hold accountable these criminals who terrorize our society,” Coloma said.

Authorities did not immediately point to any suspects, but government forces have been on alert in the South due to recent attacks and bombings by a breakaway Moro insurgent group opposed to peace talks between the administration of President Aquino and the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF).

Inspiration & Hope / Finding the Cure
July 31, 2013, 03:20:00 PM
Written by  Keith Phillips

Imagine that there’s a sure and simple cure for loneliness, anxiety, fear, depression, insecurity, anger, hatred, bitterness, or whatever else might ail you. Now imagine that the same cure could also help you live a healthier, more vibrant life. Imagine that it could, in fact, make it possible for you to live forever. Now imagine that same miracle cure was equally effective in combating social ills and every interpersonal conflict from sibling rivalry to war between nations. Sounds fantastic, doesn’t it?

Next, if I were to tell you that such a cure not only existed but was freely available to anyone and everyone, wouldn’t you want it for yourself and those dearest to you? Wouldn’t you want it for everyone?

Well, such a cure does exist, because God exists and it’s within His power to give us all these things and more. He has also made a way for anyone anywhere, regardless of race, color, creed, or social standing, to tap into that power. It all begins with a personal relationship with Him, which He has also made freely available through His Son, Jesus.

So if you have found Jesus, you have found it allâ€"the key to happiness, better health, heavenly help with the problems of this life, and Heaven forever in the life to come! And if you haven’t found Jesus yet, you can right now by simply saying a prayer in your own words, inviting Him into your life.

Let Jesus prove to you how down-to-earth real He is, how much He loves you, how concerned He is about your happiness, and to what lengths He will go to help you be all you can be.

Once you’ve experienced God’s cure-all, you won’t be able to keep it to yourself. You’ll want to share what you’ve found with others.

"Miserable!" That was the only way to describe how I was feeling on that bright summer day. My husband had had to travelâ€"again!â€"and there I was alone with our four children. Finances were low and my health was bad. My teenage daughter was going through a crisis in her life. Having to handle her problems, take care of the other children, and run the house at the same time was taking its toll on me.

Although I tried hard, it was difficult to see anything positive about my situation. I prayedâ€"oh, how I prayed!â€"that the Lord would make things a little easier to bear.

"Shattered"

In a way, I need a change
From this burnout scene
Another time, another town, another everything
But it's always back to you
Stumble out in the night
From the pouring rain
Made the block, sat and thought
There's more I need
It's always back to you

But I'm good without ya
Yeah I'm good without you
Yeah, yeah, yeah

How many times can I break til I shatter?
Over the line, can't define what I'm after
I always turn the car around
Give me a break; let me make my own pattern
All that it takes is some time
But I'm shattered
I always turn the car around

I had no idea that the night
Would take so damn long
Took it out, on the street
While the rain still falls
Push me back to you

But I'm good without ya
Yeah I'm good without you
Yeah, yeah, yeah

How many times can I break til I shatter?
Over the line, can't define what I'm after
I always turn the car around
Give me a break; let me make my own pattern
All that it takes is some time
But I'm shattered
I always turn the car around

Give it up, give it up Baby
Give it up, give it up now, now

How many times can I break til I shatter?
Over the line, can't define what I'm after
I always turn the car around
All that I feel is the realness I'm faking
Taking my time
But its time that I'm wasting
I always turn the car around

How many times can I break til I shatter?
Over the line, can't define what I'm after
I always turn the car around
Don't wanna turn that car around
I gotta turn this thing around

A faithful dog led rescue crews a quarter-mile down a dark Florida highway to the scene of his owner's fatal car accident. Gregory Todd Travers, 41, lost control of his vehicle on State Road 84 near Davie, slamming into a bridge support and rolling into the stretch of road. While first responders searched for the wreckage, a dog came limping toward them. Led by Simon the German Shepherd, the group was able to find the wreckage. Simon circled and then licked Travers before jumping into the car next to his owner and waiting. Tragically, Travers died at the scene.

South Carolina man, 78, wears sandwich board to help wife of 57 yrs in search for life-saving kidney.

Larry Swilling is truly devoted to his wife, Jimmie Sue, they have been married for 57 years he is looking for a kidney to give his 76-year-old wife, the life-saving organ she needs
Larry Swilling and his wife Jimmie Sue have been happily married 57 years. So happily, in fact, that Larry has now come to realize the downside of loving someone so much you can’t live without them.

Jimmie Sue needs a kidney donor and no one in the family is a suitable match, so Larry has taken to the streets to try to find one.

“She’s my heart,” he said.

Heart has never been an issue for these two.

What’s always been lacking is a kidney. Jimmie Sue was born with only one, and now that one is shot. She needs a transplant but neither her husband, nor anyone tested in her family, is a suitable match.

Jimmie Sue is on a donor list, but the wait is about two or three years long and that’s for a kidney from a deceased donor. Transplant patients who get their kidneys from living donors tend to live longer.

Which is why Larry decided to try a completely radical approach to securing a kidney: asking for it, from total strangers.
“I don’t care what people think,” Larry said. He tells his wife, “I’m going to get you a kidney.”

Never mind that most people won’t give panhandlers their pocket change, let alone their vital organs. A few months ago, Larry, at 77, has been walking all over his hometown of Anderson, S.C. and the surrounding towns basically begging for a kidney.

And on out on the street, wearing a signboard â€" “Need kidney 4 wife” â€" he’s not shy in asking passersby: “I sure could use your kidney.”

Learn English Online / Why I Hire English Majors
June 25, 2013, 05:37:31 PM

Steve Strauss
Best-selling author,
USA TODAY columnist,
leading small business expert.
Visit www.TheSelfEmployed.com

I love English majors. I love how smart they are. I love their intellectual curiosity. And I love their bold choice for a major. Most of all, I love to hire them.

A recent article by the great David Brooks in the New York Times about the changing nature of the Humanities in higher education just reinforced why, when given my druthers, English majors are my employee of choice.

And the reason is not that I am a writer; I more consider myself an entrepreneur than anything else. I run a small business and the people I hire do a variety of tasks -- SEO, project management, social media, and so forth.

For my money (literally and figuratively), for my needs, and I suggest the needs of most small businesses, English majors are easily the top choice when it comes to getting the type of teammate who can make us all better, as they say in basketball.

Let's consider what you want when you hire an employee or independent contractor:

Smarts: My sweet daughter Sydney is a junior English major (though I haven't hired her -- yet!) When I speak with her now, when I hear about her assignments and what she has to read, I cannot help but be impressed. She is a much smarter girl than the one who left here two years ago.

I think what I appreciate most about English majors is that they are taught to think critically, and that is exactly what I want in my business. Busy with a start-up, a new book to finish, speeches, and running my regular business to boot, what I need is to be able to give someone an assignment and have them do it. Period.

That is exactly what I get from the English majors. They know how to think, to think for themselves, and how to analyze a problem. Business majors are fine, but they are preoccupied with theory, proving themselves, and doing it "right." But the English majors are used to getting a tough assignment, figuring it out, and getting it done, (usually) on time.

Boldness: Now, this may not be true for all small business people, but it is for me. I like working with people who are bold, confident, and who are willing to speak up. People who see problems and suggest solutions, who are not intimidated by calculated risk taking.

Hello, English major.

Not only do these folks have to be bold simply to make such a choice of majors at a time when everyone is advising them to think about making themselves as practical as possible in this shrinking, global job market, but the nature of their gig is that they have to be bold. Reading Chaucer, making sense of it, writing a term paper on it, and then being able to defend it, takes far more bravery than, say, analyzing the fall of the Soviet Union.

Writing ability: Whether it is a blog, an email to a client, an e-newsletter post, or an analysis of a problem, English majors win, hands down.

Easy to work with: This is an underrated trait that I think many people applying for a job don't get or appreciate. People like working with people they like. I find that, usually, English majors are interesting, well spoken, can take a position and defend it with logic and reason, are (obviously) well read, and are, well, pleasant to be around.

That's whom I want to hire.

"Jar Of Hearts"

No, I can't take one more step towards you
'Cause all that's waiting is regret
Don't you know I'm not your ghost anymore
You lost the love I loved the most

I learned to live half alive
And now you want me one more time

And who do you think you are?
Runnin' 'round leaving scars
Collecting your jar of hearts
And tearing love apart
You're gonna catch a cold
From the ice inside your soul
So don't come back for me
Who do you think you are?

I hear you're asking all around
If I am anywhere to be found
But I have grown too strong
To ever fall back in your arms

And I've learned to live half alive
And now you want me one more time

And who do you think you are?
Runnin' 'round leaving scars
Collecting your jar of hearts
And tearing love apart
You're gonna catch a cold
From the ice inside your soul
So don't come back for me
Who do you think you are?

And it took so long just to feel alright
Remember how to put back the light in my eyes
I wish I had missed the first time that we kissed
'Cause you broke all your promises
And now you're back
You don't get to get me back

And who do you think you are?
Runnin' 'round leaving scars
Collecting your jar of hearts
And tearing love apart
You're gonna catch a cold
From the ice inside your soul
So don't come back for me
Don't come back at all

And who do you think you are?
Runnin' 'round leaving scars
Collecting your jar of hearts
Tearing love apart
You're gonna catch a cold
From the ice inside your soul
Don't come back for me
Don't come back at all

Who do you think you are?

Who do you think you are?

Who do you think you are?

There's no religion that could save me
No matter how long my knees are on the floor
So keep in mind all the sacrifices I'm makin'
Will keep you by my side?
Will keep you from walkin' out the door?

'Cause there'll be no sunlight
If I lose you, baby
There'll be no clear skies
If I lose you, baby

Just like the clouds
My eyes will do the same
If you walk away
Everyday it will rain, rain, rain, hey, hey, hey

I'll never be your mother's favorite
Your daddy can't even look me in the eye
Ooh, if I was in their shoes, I'd be doing the same thing
Sayin' there goes my little girl
Walkin' with that troublesome guy

But they're just afraid of something they can't understand
Ooh, but little darlin' watch me change their minds
Yeah, for you I'll try, I'll try, I'll try, I'll try
I'll pick up these broken pieces 'til I'm bleeding
If that'll make you mine

'Cause there'll be no sunlight
If I lose you, baby
There'll be no clear skies
If I lose you, baby

Just like the clouds
My eyes will do the same
If you walk away
Everyday it will rain, rain, rain, hey, hey, hey

Oh, don't just say goodbye
Don't just say goodbye
I'll pick up these broken pieces 'til I'm bleeding
If that'll make it right

If you ever leave me, baby
Leave some morphine at my door

'Cause there'll be no sunlight
If I lose you, baby
There'll be no clear skies
If I lose you, baby

Just like the clouds
My eyes will do the same
If you walk away
Everyday it will rain, rain, rain, hey, hey, hey

Music and Video / SKY SAILING - BRIELLE

"Brielle"

There's a handwritten note pressed in the door of her screened in porch
And I am sailing away recalling that day miles from shore
She was still wearing white and Robin's egg blue, her grandmother's dress
When I left early this year, how I wound up here is anyone's guess
When the new sites grow old and I start to feel cold I'll sail home again

[Chorus:]
Goodbye Brielle
Only whispers can tell
Of the sweet dreams that we knew so well
I'll see you around our dear ocean town
The frozen days we set ablaze
Sent me drifting away
Like a butterfly, you floated by and now you're alone
I wish I knew when I'll be back again
So until then I wish you well
My dear Brielle

Strolling over the sand, in cobblestone paths that wind through the trees
Breathing the sweet forest air makes a bluebird aware that she could be free
When the new sites grow old and I start to feel cold I'll sail home again

[Chorus:]
Goodbye Brielle
Only whispers can tell
Of the sweet dreams that we knew so well
I'll see you around our dear ocean town
The frozen days we set ablaze
Sent me drifting away
Like a butterfly, you floated by and now you're alone
I wish I knew when I'll be back again
So until then I wish you well

So until then I wish you well
I love you my darling, farewell.
My dear Brielle

A Missouri mother has been charged with child abuse and murder after police said she let her boyfriend rape her 4-month-old infant, resulting in the child’s death.

Prosecutors in St. Charles County on Monday released details about how 25-year-old Jessica Lynn Howell sent text messages to her boyfriend, Jordan Lafayette Prince, indicating that she was willing to let him have sex with her daughter even though she knew he had previously been convicted for sexual abuse of a minor.

“In those text messages, she suggested and encouraged some unspeakable things,” St. Charles Prosecuting Attorney Tim Lohmar told KTVI. “It is very, very disturbing.”

Lohmar said that Prince sexually assaulted the infant and then strangled her to death.

“Ashlynn was sexually assaulted causing multiple tears to her anus, a massive laceration to her rectum with massive hematoma in the area of the pelvis,” the probable cause document states. “The injuries to her anus and rectum of Ashlynn were sufficient to eventually cause her death even without the strangulation.”

Howell was being held on $1 million bond and was schedule to be arraigned on Tuesday. Prince remains in jail awaiting trial for first-degree murder charges.

A 3-week-old kitten survived a 1,000-mile trip across two states inside the engine of a Honda Fit and is expected to make a full recovery.

"I was concerned about this kitten because it had been in the car engine for two to three days," Julia Di Sieno, executive director and co-founder of Animal Rescue Team, Inc., told ABC News. "I put on latex gloves, and I managed to get my hands in there until I had a little kitten and wiggled it through."

Late last week, an owner of a silver Honda Fit, heard meowing coming from her car before a journey from Oregon to Santa Barbara, Calif., Di Sieno said.

"She heard the kitten crying before she departed and there was nothing she could do. She tried to find the kitten," said Di Sieno. "So they continued on their journey, driving south."

The next day, Di Sieno received a call from the car owner with concerns that a kitten was trapped somewhere inside her car. Di Sieno was as much as to 45 miles away, so she asked the car owner to call the Santa Barbara police department and request that they summon animal control.

"Animal control was dispatched, an officer showed up, and he thought perhaps the kitten was no longer in the compartment," Di Sieno said.

That afternoon, Di Sieno received a second phone call from the owner saying there were still cries from a cat inside the engine compartment.

"I had to go do something," Di Sieno said.

Di Sieno arrived at the scene and had a difficult time locating the cat. After assessing the situation, she decided to call a tow truck for some extra help.

"They needed to get underneath the car to find it," Chuck Love of Love's Towing told ABC News. "We lifted up the car, and she still couldn't find it."

With Love holding a flashlight and Di Sieno feeling around for the kitten, the duo spotted the scared feline shifting around the engine. Di Sieno was able to use a "jab stick" to administer sedation, and finally was able to get the kitten to an accessible spot.

"It took a half an hour, at least, to get it out, and after getting it out it was so cute and so small," said Love. "Lucky it was small, because then [otherwise] we wouldn't have been able to get it out. Of course, if it wasn't that small it would've never been able to get in there."

The short-haired, grey, male kitten meowed as it was pulled out of the engine in frail condition. Di Sieno took him home, started immediate care and found the 3- to 4-week-old kitten was dehydrated and had an infected eye. Now just a couple of a days later, the kitten is recovering and expected to make a full recovery.

"He is very tame now, purring, and finally eating. We've been treating him with antibiotics," said Di Sieno.

Di Sieno has been saving animals for more than 29 years at Animal Rescue Team, Inc., sustained solely by donations. She's rescued lions, bears and other large mammals, but she said this was the first time she's rescued a kitten from an engine.

"It was refreshing for me because I'm passionate about this work and saving animals," she said. "The moment I pulled him up, it was so exhilarating."

She added that, for a lost kitten, an engine is a perfect small, tight compartment to seek warmth, especially if it was in a climate such as Oregon.

Di Sieno said she couldn't have done the rescue without Love's help.

She said she appreciated "having someone step up like that without asking for money. … He was determined to help me and get that cat out of that engine. I thought we'd name him 'Love' for now."

MANILA, Philippines â€" The Philippines has been named as Time’s “Most STUPID Country to Elect a 20-Year OJT as a Senator”.

“The overwhelming victory of a self-professed on-the-job trainee-cum-Senator in the recently held election in the Philippines cemented the country’s fate,” wrote Time’s news director Marilou C. Martin.

She added, “Falling for the diversionary tactics of an inexperienced candidate that saw her steer the issue away from her credibility to her skin complexion to make herself look like the underdog; gave us no choice but to bestow such title to a country, who was destined for greatness before the elections.”
“And yes, we intentionally all-capped the word stupid for added emphasis,” according to Martin.

Time gave special attention to the country’s 11,789,643 registered voters (as of press time) who voted for Nancy Binay, as contributing to the country’s “overall stupidity rating index”.

“These are probably the same 11,289,648 people who had no access to the internet to witness the criticism their bet received for her lack political background or experience.”

The magazine didn’t wait for Comelec’s final and official number of votes Binay received before coming out with the latest issue saying that, “The amount of gullibility and the unprecedented level of idiocy forced us to go to press immediately.”

The article also noted that the country’s saving grace, namely its recent credit rating upgrade, Manny Pacquiao, Jessica Sanchez or Jada Pinkett-Smith asking for a copy of Jericho Rosales’ film did not help one bit.

“Those are only minor achievements as compared to the repercussions the sheer amount of stupidity the recent actions of the Filipino people entails.”

“It’s these kind of situations that not even Lou Diamond Philips winning the Oscars  or the Philippines winning the next Miss Universe can help with your country’s image,” said Martin.
All is not lost however, according to political analyst Mak Jendoza.

“Andyan na yan eh, ano pa magagawa natin (She’s already there, what else can we do)?” said Jendoza. “Siguraduhin nalang natin na hindi na mauulit ito pagdating ng 2016 (We just have to make sure that we shall not repeat this same mistake come 2016).”

“Abe eh kung maging presidente ang tatay nyan at madagdagan pa ng isang kapatid sa Senado sa 2016, baka pati ang United Nations hirangin na din tayong mga inutil (If ever her dad became president and another one of her sibling became a senator in 2016, even the United Nations shall name us stupid),” warned Jendoza.

“I can’t say that I’m proud of this recent ‘achievement’ of our country,” said Johnny Manuel Ebola after learning about the magazine cover. “But at least I’m proud to say that I’m not one of those 11,789,643 nincompoops!”

Kuwarto ni lola
May giamag na arinola
Banyo ni mama
Gibubuan sa arinola
Sa atabay midagayday
Sa kanal mikatay

Angso...

Ang angso dunay tiil nga laagan
Nagsubay - subay sa mga dalan
Padulong sa sikbit nga gingharian
Ug mialingasaw sa kapupud-an...

Ang angso dunay maidlot nga kamot
Nagagunit ug bolpen nga maanindot
Tinta nga dugo sa papel mibuslot
Mipakgang sa kaugmaon sa mga alaot...

Ang angso dunay baba nga maaghop
Mopahiyom lang kung suod ang masayop
Apan kung ubos niyang mga sakop
Iyang pulong makaon pa'y tahop...

Ang angso dunay mata nga nagpahiyom
Apan kung motutok daw hait nga dagom
Kansang kabangis sa unod motidlum
Daw bitok nga mokutkot sa tiyan nga gigutom...

Ang angso dunay ilong gipanuhot
Kansang panimhot puro lang gyud sa humot
Apan kung si Kulot gani ang mangutot
Okay ra gyud pildi lang ang maglagot...

Ang angso but-an ug panagway

    Kapait jud oi mamahimong botilya...
