Naa diay ni cebuano version? All I know is first ang tagalog version which was translated to english.

And to answer Jas4 & Priscilla: It's not just the Catholic Church that doesn't pay taxes, this goes for all religious institutions, meaning that other christian denominational churches, mormon temples, jewish temples, muslim mosques etc are under this same umbrella.
Even here in the United States, Christian Churches, Buddhist temples, Muslim mosques, Jewish temples etc are exempt from taxes.
It's not just a Philippine case-scenario. :)

But it's only the Catholic Church ang nagsige ug pang-attriber sa Panggobyerno sa Pilipinas!

Sus mao ra jud na ilang gikyawkyaw yet they don't pay taxes.  While naay uyamut nga pinoy nga trabahante, nagbayad ug tax yet dili man gani ka enjoy sa iyang right to have choices kay ang simbahan dili mosugot.

Quote from: Lorenzo on October 02, 2010, 03:04:06 PM
Of course I understood your message, that is why I enunciated the dichotomy of : the right to protest and the manner of protesting.

People in the Republic of the Philippines have the right to protest and voice concern, but in accordance and respect to the rights of others. In regards to your rhetorical question on why Catholic priests voice their opposition to this bill; they are doing this not for political reasons, but because it transgresses against the core tenet of the Catholic Principle of the Holiness of Family Life, which , has been an agenda for over 2 millenia. Since the Church officials are sharing the views of the Church towards those of the faithful (and in many cases, inside the Catholic Church), there is no negative interjection implied. On the contrary, the actions of Celdron was a direct infringement against the celebrants of Mass, against Republic Act that guarantees the right to Worship, and was a manifestation of a blatant disregard of the national and constitutional rights of the hundreds of people in that church.

Again, I reiterate, Celdron was found wanting.

#18
i get your point but you didn't get mine.

plain and simple lang, nganong ang pari during sa misa pwede man motira against such bill? besides, dili lang sa kana nga topic. how come these people when they protest and interrupt government business okay ra man? klaro ana one sided ang simbahan.

same issue here. if ikaw motira nako, okay ra ko. but if ikaw maigo, unsa imong gibuhat, di ba BAN dayun?

US: 7% fewer illegal immigrants last year
Agence France-Presse
Posted at 02/10/2010 1:18 PM | Updated as of 02/10/2010 1:18 PM

WASHINGTON - The number of illegal immigrants in the United States fell by 7% last year to 10.8 million, coinciding with the country's financial crisis, a Department of Homeland Security report said Tuesday.

The majority of the country's illegal immigrants come from Latin America, with 62% from Mexico (6.7 million), followed by those from El Salvador (530,000), Guatemala (480,000) and Honduras (320,000).

Together with Filipinos (270,000), Latin Americans accounted for 85% of all illegal immigrants in the United States in 2009, the DHS report said.

Police say mother had made threats to harm herself, children.

MIRAMAR â€"

Three young girls were found safe watching a movie in Boca Raton after authorities issued a missing person's alert for the girls and their mother.

Police late Wednesday found the Miramar woman and her three daughters after an officer spotted the woman's car, said Miramar police spokeswoman, Tania Rues.

Josephine Pagente, 39, of Miramar, and her daughters Briana Sison, 7, Isabella Sison, 4, and Sabrina Sison, 3, were uninjured, said Miramar police spokeswoman Tania Rues. They were found watching "Toy Story 3" at a movie theater.

Earlier in the day, Pagente had told her husband and the father of the girls that she was going to harm them, Rues said.
Be the first to know.

"She made a variety of threats, all alluding that she would harm herself and her three daughters," Rues said.

Pagente was taken into custody under the state's Baker Act, which allows people with mental illnesses to be involuntarily admitted to a hospital for up to 72 hours.

Daghang iskuylahan nga kuwang ug mga rooms, teachers ug facilities like auditorium and comfort rooms.

So far, wa pay giguwa ang DepEd nga ingani. Comment lang, before you implement a project may cost benefit analysis na daan aron slim ang chance nga magflop ang project. Ang nahitabo karon ang implementation sa Sex Education is on a test basis. What's behind all of these? Tungod ba nga ingon sa overpopulation mang kaha?

Ikatulo, ANG TUL-ID NGA BINUHATAN BISAN USA RA ANG MIBUHAT BISAN KANUS-A TUL-ID NGA BINUHATAN LAMANG GIHAPON. Matters of sex should be given by parents to their own children not by any other person. We're are we now? Miuswag ba ang ubang nasud in terms of morality sa ilang pag adopt sa abortion ug divorce laws?

with respect to 1 and 2 wa ko kahibalo ana since wa ko nag-in dept research sa gastos.  But I know, dili ingana ka daku.

Again and agian, sex education isn't just sex but the realities involving it.  Example lang ni ha, does our parents know the statistics, like the rates you are talking about?  Ang nakalisud man gud sa mga "Pro Life" ug "Pro Morality" groups kay ilang gigeneralize nga ang Sex Education is only about sex.  Sorry to disappoint you guys, it's not!

Every Department  has an overseer, the COA (Commission On Audit)
their responsibility is to be sure that the allotment received from the central office
in Manila will be allocated and disbursed accordingly to the  intended project as approved
prior the financial release of such funds.

Unless the COA needs to be audited itself..... ::)

I know maam... it's not a literal question...

Perhaps we can educate our communities gradually, i know that some of our parents felt nasty to their ears when they heard about this topic, but i think children are matured enough and ready to receive the aspect of education, i agree in a proper and appropriate age should this be applied.

which is basically the point of sex education nga against ang mga gitawag ug "pro-life".

this guys are talking about subsidies man sir.  Gusto aning grupoha nga iregulate ang tuition, then if dili kaya, ang gobyerno na motubos sa sobra.  The budget is more than enough.

***it's a respect thingy sir. mura na na ug noy, pero english lang.  not necessary tiguwang or maguwang ka in terms of age but of maturity.

jas, i'm now based in the UK for 8 years. di man siguro na dugay na kaayo nuon. makasabot kos imong mga obserbasyon kay duna koy mga kasayoran bahin ana. i worked in UP Pahinungod before, which sends volunteers to some Philippine areas.

one particular work we have is the Gurong Pahinungod (GP), which is a partnership with DepEd wherein we sent volunteers (limited number) to some of the poorest provinces in the country to teach for a year. if i was younger then i would have been one. so yes, i've heard many heartbreaking stories. one of which that particularly hits me hard is a group of GPs sent to a remote mountain barangay in Compostela Valley to start an extension school from scratch. oh, the stories that they brought back can make one very uneasy.

i do hope that the education budget will be substantially increased during Noynoy's presidency.

education! education! education!

sir jig, education budget is more than enough.  In fact, one of the biggest, if not the biggest, in all the departments.  The issue is not about the budget but misappropriation.  Samutan pa kurapsyon.  Wasting the resources with overpriced and useless books tungod sa mga sayup.  Bureaucracy pa jud.

When we say Sex education it does not mean having sex alone...this is simply a perception...sex education would mean gender classification, health, and other issues not necessarily concerning the reproductive cycle...I believe sex education should be done in AGE APPROPRIATE STEPS...

How would a mother answer when a child asks about how he came to be? How would a father answer if his boy asks, why his baby sister doesn't have a penis...and why do girls sit down when urinating? Why is mom's pipi bleeding, why is dad's penis without a foreskin? why do girls grow their hair long? Why can't I grow my hair long? Why is Mom's nail polish in color? Why does Mom wear lipstick? Why does Dad buy me a toy gun? Why do girls get dolls? Why do girls wear panties? Why do they wear skirts? Why do girls dress differently than boys?...and a whole lot more gender sensitive questions that has to be answered...according to our culture and not according to american or korean or chinese films...

I am for AGE APPROPRIATE Sex Education...

This is exactly what is in the sex education curriculum.  Kaso, most socalled "pro-life" groups doesn't understand this!

if nabasa pa nimo, dili unta ingana imong stand. Sex education is not all about sex!  What you are saying is all assumptions with no basis at all.  Do you know the increase rate of the Philippine population per year?  Do you know how many mothers aging 13, 14, 15, etc?  DO you know how many OSY are most likely to be "accidental" parents?

and i thought this thread is about opinions on whether the philippines would have been better as an american state!  hey, bro enz, why is this being hijacked by rizal and his kind?

as for the topic at hand, here's my 2-cents' worth:  would have been better at what?  materially, morally, politically, spiritually?  frankly, there's no telling if any country would have been better if it were not independent.  it's like saying that a cat would have been better if it were a dog.

No worries sir.  I still find time to stay on topic unlike some other people who tell tales based on fairy stories who made our ancestors, even us, believed.

I do agree agree with what you are saying.  But, I am tackling our leaders before nga nagpabilib.  Same ra gihapon karon.  As if they know how to do it yet they always fail.  Ang nakaparat is ang kaalaut is padulong sa masa ug wala nila.  Same sa mga nanghitabo sa mga karaan.

Additionally,

When the United States defeated the Spaniards in 1898, the Americans , upon entering the Philippines, noticed the social order system that was set in place. President Howard Taft,  who then was an acting Civilian Governor-General of the Philippines, saw the squalor of the people and was galvanized how the Roman Catholic Church owned so much of the land of the country. So adamant was he that he went to the American Congress and asked them to buy the land owned by the Catholic Church; Congress agreed and Taft personally went to Rome to talk with Pope Leo XIII , buying the land in the amount of $7 million. Then selling it to Filipinos for cheap; which allowed the American Administration in the Philippines under Taft to be come rather popular, by both Filipinos and Americans, of course after the cessation of the Philippine-American War.

Taft and fellow educated civil workers saw how popular Rizal was in the schools. American Yellow Journalism took its effect by publishing the evils of the Spanish regime, and glorified Rizal as the 'Brave Malay' who stood against the Spanish System.

Seeing this, the Landed Aristocracy, took advantage of the situation by supporting the American system; since it was another foreign power's policy. They, in other words, wanted the same piece of the pie.

Its the way of politics, friend, whenever it is beneficial for one party or one governing or controlling body, it will support something even if it was originally against it. For the means of maintenance of power. Their Power. Status Quo.

US didn't defeat Spain in terms of Philippines.  That is a make believe scenario.  The Philippines was sold to US by the Spaniards.
