Press Release: As part of the Bureau of Customs’ (BOC) continuing efforts against the proliferation of illegal drugs, the Bureau through the Port of Manila (POM) Customs Intelligence and Investigation Service (CIIS) in coordination with the Enforcement and Security Service (ESS) and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), seized 3,100 pieces of ecstasy tablets from a claimant in Dau, Mabalacat Pampanga on March 18, 2021.

Through the combined efforts of BOC Port of Manila Customs Postal Office, CMEC-NAIA, CAIDTF, CIIS, and PDEA, a controlled delivery operation was conducted which resulted in the arrest of the claimant, a certain Agatha Lavadia Palen. The claimant bared the authorization letter to receive the parcel containing the drugs which were consigned to a certain Zhyelle Marquez Ancheta. Originally declared as Orthopedic jelly shoes, flexible led mirror, dust buster, hand mixer, and birdhouse display, the package was verified to contain a total of 3,100 various tablets of ecstasy estimated to have a value of Php 5.270 Million.

The claimant was taken into custody by PDEA and is currently undergoing investigation for possible violation of RA 9165 also known as the Anti-illegal Drugs Act as well as Section 1400 of RA 10863 also known as the Customs Modernization and Tariff Act.

POM District Collector Michael Angelo Vargas stated that the operation is a result of good coordination, swift and decisive action as mandated by Commissioner Rey Leonardo Guerrero. Vargas assured that the Port of Manila shall always remain strict in processing shipments to ensure that no illegal contraband gets through.

Moreover, the port collector warned the public to be careful when claiming packages especially when it is done as a favor as this may be the means of certain unscrupulous individuals to smuggle illegal drugs into the country.

As the Bureau remains committed to supporting the Duterte Administration’s war against Drugs, the Port of Manila is steadfast in its mandate for border security under the leadership of Commissioner Guerrero.

John 3:16-18 ESV
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son (Jesus Christ), that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.
