The Chief of Staff of the Vice-Governor’s Office (VGO), Lawyer Hilario Ayuban, admitted having called a meeting with some Capitol staff to promote the online survey conducted through the website of the Chronicle.
Ayuban issued the statement amid reports that camp of Vice-Governor Julius Caesar Herrera has resorted to a massive cheating in the online survey wherein VGO casuals were instructed to create numerous email addresses so they could cast multiple votes.
It was further confirmed when dyRD came across a copy of a guide sheet on how to cast vote in the online survey with specific instruction to vote only for Herrera and his runningmate, former provincial administration Tomas Abapo Jr.
However, Ayuban denied having distributed instruction sheets and the allegations that Herrera had forced the casuals to vote for him in the online survey.
Ayuban explained that it was his initiative to gather the staff of VGO, provincial public library and the Sanggniang Panlalawigan to inform them about the online survey conducted by the Chronicle.
He pointed out that when he called the meeting Friday afternoon, Herrera was already leading by 11 percent in the online survey in the gubernatorial race.
He also denied that he forced the staff of offices under the VGO to vote for Herrera, as he said he respects the preference of some of them whom he knew are not really for the vice governor.
He said he only encouraged them to take part and be counted, so that the real pulse will
show as he believes Herrera was only lagging behind in the past surveys because only few knew about the online survey.
Ayuban also pointed out that the vice governor had no knowledge about the meeting that he called, to belie reports that the vice governor was caught raising his voice.
He further explained that the vice governor is not even keen on surveys, as he give more importance on the response of the barangayfolk that would meet him in his sorties.
