Provincial elections supervisor Atty. Eliseo Labaria urged those who are qualified to vote in the May 2010 elections to register at the Comelec offices in their areas.
Speaking during the monthly forum of the Bohol Tri-Media Association at the JJ’s Seafood Village last Wednesday, Labaria said while the deadline for voters’ registration is on October 31, the Comelec needs to have enough time to prepare the voters’ list, and distribute voters per precinct and determine the number of special ballots for the 2010 automated elections.
Aside from new voters and reactivation of records, the approved applications include reinstatement or transfer of records and change or correction of entries which is also being processed by the Comelec.
A voter with deactivated registration records cannot vote in the next elections and must apply for reactivation of records first, said Labaria.
The Comelec moved the deadline for the filing of certificates of candidacy for those seeking elective positions to November 30 this year instead of January 2010.
The monthly radio forum is aired live over dyRD, dyTR, dyZD and replayed over dyDL-FM (Carmen).
