This is interesting to read about, Mike. I discussed this with my father earlier this week and we both agree that Mr. Abunda is, indeed, a proficient public speaker. Whatever his decision is, his talent in the public state is noteworthy. I also recently found out from my father that Abunda is Visayan. Apparently the man is from Samar-Leyte.
may i disagree with you a bit on one point, friend enz. proficiency in public speaking isn't enough to make one a statesman. (i can't imagine howard stern taking a cabinet post in the u.s. government.) besides, there are so many proficient public speakers, considering all our tv talk show hosts and radio commentators all over.
one of the public speakers i admire is this habal-habal driver in our vicinity. he's so shy, his eyes are constantly downcast during ordinary days. but let him have his drink, and soon we would hear him preaching, clearly and elegantly, on a hill-like area of our subdivision, quoting the bible to boot for all the residents to hear. i'm still waiting for him to multiply bread and fish, but i dare not expect him to take a cabinet post despite his proficiency as a public speaker.
