Cold weather to last until late February, PAGASA says

Although there are no cyclones near the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR) at this time, Filipinos may have to keep their jackets handy for the next few weeks, state weather forecasters said Monday.

PAGASA forecaster Alvin Pura said the northeast monsoon will continue to bring cold weather to the country until late February.

"Simula ng malamig January at February hanggang late February," Pura said in an interview on dzBB radio.

The country is recovering from rain and floods brought by Tropical Depression Bising, which already exited the PAR early Monday morning, January 14.

Bising, the second cyclone for 2013, had brought floods to parts of Mindanao.

Pura said that as of Monday, they see no new weather disturbance in the vicinity of the PAR that could become a cyclone.

"Wala na tayong nakikita sa loob ng PAR na LPA, kahit sa labas ng PAR," he said. — TJD, GMA News

On my way back home from work at 8:00 am.The morning sun still hiding on the horizon and temperature plunging to sub zero.I saw footprints on the virgin snow.I was walking alone but i saw two pair of footprints,who could it be?

I don’t know for what reason this hater made such comments… Yes, Davao City boasted as a typhoon-free area, and for so many decades, it was only last year that the impact of a super typhoon affected many areas of DAVAO ORIENTAL and COMPOSTELA which are part of the DAVAO REGION. DAVAO CITY was placed under a typhoon signal but it lasted only for 2 hours with isolated cases of few damages. With what happened last year, where the damages among affected provinces are still visible, more preparedness on natural calamities are planned to counteract future effects of it. It is a rare event that made a history on the province.

The city is not flood-free (who told him that it is flood-free?) especially during heavy rains that almost lasted 24 hours… (I just don’t know if Guinness has a record on this…) Even equipped with world class rescue facilities, flood will still visit the city. Drainages are being improved but aside from the heavy rains, rainfall also pour during night time which is also during high tides, so the release of water has been slowed down that adds up to the flood.

I hope such comments from Alexander Cablao find rational grounds.

this guy should be let be.  a closer look at his picture would show someone in dire straits, desperate for attention, longing for even a glance.  he must have been dumped by a davao lass.  or a davao lad. ;D
