The Davao City Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Inc. (DCCCII) will meet to discuss the reported kidnapping of a shipping line executive at dawn Friday, Feb. 5.
DCCCII president Engr. Robert Quinto said he would convene the body to verify the kidnapping issue and to discuss other related issues.
Quinto made the comment in reaction to the reported abduction of a certain Jerry Jimenez, manager of Solid Shipping Lines in Ilang, Tibungco, Davao City that hogged the headlines here this week.
Quinto, however, said DCCCII could not ascertain the incident involving a comrade in the absence of an official report or confirmation from the authorities.
He said the chamber wanted to be very careful in discussing the matter in the absence of an official report as this could put the city’s business environment in bad light anew since the shooting incident inside one of the city’s mall last week.
He was referring to the shooting incident that involved two bodyguards of Buluan Vice Mayor Esmael Mangudadatu.
Police authorities, particularly Sr. Supt. Rene Aspera, director of the Davao City Police Office (DCPO), had insisted the police had yet to receive a report about the matter and could not act on it in the absence of a report particularly from the victim’s family. - PNA
