The Puerto Princesa City Water District (PPCWD) here has temporarily cut off water supply in many barangays due to flooding at the Irawan River caused by heavy rains.

Katya Santos of the PPCWD Information Office said the water district was forced to shut off the infiltration gallery and main water source at their operation area at Sitio Campo Uno in Barangay Irawan before 2 p.m. Sunday because of overflowing water at the dam.

The infiltration gallery, she said, had been rendered incapable of straining impurities because of the permeation of mud.

“We are forced to shut off the infiltration gallery and main water source because the Irawan river is now flooded,” Santos said, adding some barangays in the city will have no water since pressure is weak from their pumping stations.
