Diocese of Caloocan appeals for aid to Navotas fire victimsMANILA, Jan. 12 (PNA) -- The Diocese of Caloocan on Thursday appealed to the faithful to help the victims of a fire that engulfed a residential area in Navotas City.
Caritas Caloocan head Fr. Benedict John Cervantes urged the public to send donations to the hundreds of families that were left homeless by the blaze at the Navotas Fish Port Complex on Tuesday morning.
“We are still in need of water, mattresses, clothes, food, and medicine for the children,†he said in an interview over Church-run Radio Veritas.
With this, he noted that the people may coordinate with the Caritas Caloocan or directly to the San Lorenzo Luiz Parish, for their donations.
The priest also acknowledged the help of donors including other parishes in the Diocese as well as Caritas Manila and Quiapo Church.
"There have been parishes that already responded by sending goods directly to the affected parish, which is the San Lorenzo Luiz Parish,†Cervantes added.
At least 1,200 families were left homeless when a fire broke out in Barangay North Bay Boulevard North.
The Caloocan diocese is composed of Caloocan City-South, Malabon City, and Navotas City. (PNA)
