I'm excited. On November the 1st, I will present another doctoral paper for our research, a bit excited because i get to present in front of some of the most well renowned medical scientists at Northwestern U. Today, I was selected by the president of the university to begin a grant writing project for our new psychometric research. I'm happy that I was given an assistant to do research with. Ha. The president of the university asked me to come with her and other members of the academic review board to a seminar next week. I'm going to have to leave the hospital early in order for me to be able to attend the seminar. I'm beginning to enjoy this networking thing.

The time is 1:16 am here, chicago time.

I was invited by the president of northwestern to attend a skokie political caucus party today, which was held from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. It was good, communicating and networking with the mayor of the town, the board of trustees, and the administration of the town of skokie, illinois. I was introduced to so many of the politicians there and also met some congressmen that represent the 7th congressional district (chicagoland) to the United States House of Representatives. I was so elated to meet so many other doctors in the caucus party, networking with them was good. I was introduced to a Filipina who was a member of the board of trustees, she said to me, "Doctor, you're too young to be a doctor!" ha ha! Talk about pulling my leg. It turned out that this woman was related to Ramos Carandang, also known as Ricky Carandang. This woman also knows my uncle, a colleague of his during law school days, apparently. I came back home with 8 business cards from 8 different people today. Wow, i felt bad because I didn't have a business card. I should invest in one eh? ha.

It was my first political caucus party. 

Its quite interesting knowing that there are so many beautiful women with similar interests. Ive never seen so many beautiful and powerful women till I went to that political caucus today. So many female lawyers; trial lawyers, medical lawyers, civil lawyers, tax lawyers etc etc. I met a female Attorney with the first name "Jane" and had a long conversation with her regarding...no surprise here...medical ethics. She was informing about how there is a growing trend of medical malpractice and abuse of medicaid and medicare. O man, she had really bright blue eyes, and very very red lips. I don't know what was more interesting...the sound of her voice as she talked about medical ethics or the shape of her lips and the color of her baby blue eyes. I kept my interest hidden behind my smile.

Good Morning everyone! It's good to wake up to a refreshing morning. I am now in the midst of de-cluttering my bedroom and of all the excessive clothing that I don't use. I'm going to donate most of my clothes to the salvation army today. As for later on, I'm planning to attend Holy Mass at 4:30 PM, but before that I am planning to observe the Sacrament of Reconciliation.

It's been a busy week for me, and I'm looking forward to today's Mass for spiritual nourishment.

Graduation ceremony today was good today. Something about formal ceremonies...it really makes me nervous. The conferment of academic honors was pleasing to me -- all the hard hours on writing graduate papers and attending lectures -- culminated in this event. Graduating from a very rigorous medical program / graduate program magna cum laud was -- in all honesty -- very stressful. It feels good to be finished.

Then comes the realization that I have post-doctoral research to continue on with and then my Ph.D coursework in full swing this coming semester. I extend sincere gratitude to God for guiding me and comforting me during the long hours of study -- invigorating me when i needed it, I also give thanks to my parents and my family for pushing me and encouraging this feeble brain.

The confidence that I have comes from God...the source of justification through all my work, and the inspiration. In this life we come through rigorous tests, challenges and hurdles. Trust in God , who will light your way and provide the sanctification, justification and spiritual graces that will nourish you in all your ways. I testify to this.

May God Bless all of us and I ask for spiritual blessings in my future endeavors.
Through Christ Our Lord.

Well, maybe those persons Bran, just want to see me miserable or wants my life to be miserable.. so bisan unsa na lang istorya iimbento sa ako.. actually, i can ignore those makalagot lang kay annoying kaayo.. samokan ko ba, mao pay concentrate kaayo ta work unya magsige sinamok... magchange nako ug number para way samok.. That's what I want to read and thats the kind of spirit I know you have! Jenneth, my dear friend, no matter where you go in life, there will always be an a$$hole waiting for you, its just a fact of life. Even for me, wherever I go, I always tend to encounter some people who have some kind of vendetta to counter me -- and I mean -- very negative sila kaayo. But you know what, that does not stop me, you see, the moment you change yourself or your will and allow it to be altered in a way that it is unlike you -- to suit their agenda, then they win. Trust me, I've met some hardcore a$$holes. The greatest advice I can give you, my dear friend, is to learn to filter out their negativity if ever it reaches you. That's what I do. In fact, I also recommend you to pray for them -- you see prayer works incredibly. Its effects may not be immediate, but, over time, trust me, it works out to your benefit. Or as a priest friend of mine said, "prayer will even move the hardest of hearts." Changing your number is a good idea as well, so long as you find clarity these coming days and try not to care about what others have to say about you. It's never about what "they" think, my dear, its all about what you have to do, the importance is your health, your ambitions and goals, your goal in life.

This week, I was asked by the president of the college to initiate grant research for the allied health & nursing department, which will be facilitated with the help of another M.D and Med Tech. We've already begun the application for federal grant registry , now the hard part begins -- deciding and choosing the right medical / nursing research grants for the college. The specifics of grant writing is new to me, but the research experience will be an invaluable asset for future medical research. The description and the target source part of the grant paper is the toughest part, i think. Hopefully by attending tomorrow's philanthropy meeting, we'll be able to network with other successful grant writers. This upcoming week will be a busy week for me. I've also just received another teaching syllabus for ACLS class , which is to start this Monday (Nov. 5). I need to effectively implement time management processes the next coming weeks.

I need to start jogging again. I feel stressed, man.

Good morning! Today is 8:25 AM Saturday here. I'm planning to head on out at 10 AM to the Sulzer Library to get some references on a policy paper I need to work on today, which is due on the 5th of November. The topic that I will be writing about revolves around ethical and unethical clinical practices. Reading the background tho, I can't help but wonder if I need to include business practices concepts and even social work concepts to this paper. Should I also add a meta-analysis prior to the conclusion or should I stick to the medical-psychological point of view?

Ah, ...that's the million dollar question...

I got back from work at 9pm last night, took a quick jog by the trail, took a cold shower afterwards. Read over the medical case studies that i need to work on ..for an hour or so. Then went to bed at 2am. Woke up at 8am. I am up and getting ready to head on out at 10 to work on this.

I don't know how, but I need to spit out 20-30 pages from now till 12 noon on Monday. hahaha!

I went to the library today and borrowed 12 books. They were text books on organizational leadership, hospital management, theories of hospital management, clinical ethics, ethical codes of conduct for clinicians etc. This weekend has been a "working" one for me. I have not rested because of this paper. Im going to take a nap in a bit. Perhaps a 5 hour nap would do me good. Then , if time allows, attend morning mass and then get back to this paper.

The time is 9:15 pm, so far I have 28 pages. I've only addressed 4 out of the 6 topics thus far. Well, i guess i'm going to have to pull another all nighter. This paper is due tomorrow at 12 noon. Can i finish 2 topics in a little over 12 hours? O man. I want to finish the rough draft by 4 am this morning , so i can do some proof reading at least.

I've been writing and researching this entire weekend. Been on my desk since Friday night , when i came back from work. I can't stay here any longer.

Going to save the files, and going to jog right now. I need to get my head away from all this effing writing.

the time is 2:36 am. i have finished the academic policy paper, which is about 43 pages, excluding title page, and bibliography pages. hmmm..i also have a class to teach tomorrow; a ACLS (advanced cardiac life support) class. o man. not really looking forward to that.

i have to be there at 9 am. paper is due by 12 noon. that gives my secretary at least 3 hours to proof-read 43 pages. hahaha. aychitt!

thank God today is payday.
