Went lunch with myself at Chicken Ati-atihan and I can't help myself noticed these two young couple sitting in front of me.. nagtapad ra sila then giagi ra nila ug text text ilang conversation... hiyaan mode pa ba.. first time nag eyeball... mga 15 minutes sila naghulat sa ilang gi order smile lang gyud sila... pag abot sa ilang order, my ged mamuot ko, nilakaw lang ang waiter kay magkuha ug tubig para iserve sa ilaha pagbalik sa waiter sa ilang table, wala na sila... ang babae nihungit ra ug duha ka kutsara unya ni slice lang gamay sa paa nga manok.. ang lalaki nakahungit lang ka upat or lima tapos nanglakaw na... hahahaha... kalingaw na lang didto kay nakanoticed man pod diay ang ubang customers.. i'm sure pag uli ato nila sa ilang balay mobanat to ug kaon...

I am at work writing a paper on patient confidentiality and all that jazz. Medical ethics....

I was given the syllabus to help spearhead our university's online medical terminology course. The first of many courses we are going to offer online. I am also now working on the feasibility on the creation of our university's up and coming physical therapy program. The director of the medical & allied health department had appointed me to do research on this. It's interesting and a lot of researching / reading.

I love it tho. Medical research and quantitative studies -- is so effing awesome.

As i write this blog blurb here in TB, i need to get back on my paper -- which is on patient confidentiality in regards to the specific processes of the HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability & Accountability Act).

Back to work na pod. I think my fingers are becoming numb now from all this typing. ha ha ha!

i presume it's not a cruel reminder, hahaha!  one thing with cat owners is that they're almost like parents with babies.  these owners show pictures of their babies or cats around when to the rest of the world all babies look the same and all cats look the same.

i'm watching over our sick kitten.  i think she has a sprained left front paw, which is obvious when she walks.  she's been sleeping the whole day and hadn't eaten at all; unusual for a terribly active kitten.  if she doesn't improve by tomorrow, to the vet we go.

I had my cuzin prepared/cooked a lot of food - including an order of lechon from manga - when last minute my sister called to invite us for her son's 1st birthday. Sus, klaro na jud walay famil mo attend sa along arrival party... so we decided to bring our lechon, inatayan and dinuguan to my sister's house.

We ordered a 2nd lechon last friday thinking we're doing my arrival party the next day when suddenly my cuzin came to invite us for my aunt's 11th death anniversary. Toinks! We end up bringing our newly ordered lechon to Catigbian where my 2 cousin priests said a memorial mass at the Catigbian cemetery for my aunt, grandparents and deceased relatives. We had fun at the reception with so much good food, singing and bahalina (siete biernes).

So by Friday night I decided to just invite my bradix (Puppies friends) and 6 of them came. They ate all the food we prepared the day before, had a few drinks and talked and laughed til the break of the next day. They all went home at 5am the next day.

I told them hello for you and yes they still remember the last time you joined us 2 years ago. Brydon kept making hand signal as if drawing your beard hahaha.

Thank you, Isle. Just the fact that I'm already in Bohol is almost beyond imaging. It's not a dream... it's real. Besides, seeing family, relatives and friends is all what makes it all worthwhile.

Hahaha! I just got home from attending Holy Mass at 4:30 pm diri sa Chicago. The sermon today dealt with the importance of trusting in God's Word and the Will of God for the union of man and woman. Our parish priest, Fr. Daniel, offered a very insightful and inspirational message on looking and praying for God's continued guidance in finding the right partner, and if one finds that partner, to be loving to that individual. Fr. Daniel also reiterated the importance of the sanctity of friendship , which if fostered through faith, hope and love, can be bear good fruit. I was thinking thoroughly about my mother, my father, my sister, my brothers, my aunts, uncles, cousins, and all my relatives and friends there in the Philippines. Truly, it is good to pray for all our loved ones, friends and family.

When I came back to my apartment, I had a sense of gratitude for God's blessings in my life, as well as for His guidance in in the setbacks that I have experienced thus far. The lesson we learn from our mistakes instills in us a deep sense of appreciation for these experiences, afterall, all experiences is a lesson in life.

After I opened Tubag Bohol and read your posting of how you had met up with your sister, her child, mingled with your dear friends, Da Puppies, as well as your other relatives and friends, I could not help but feel a deep sense of happiness and tranquility in your joy. You have been through so much these past months with hospital visits, and i must say that i was worried for you during these times. I am so happy to hear that you're doing well, Thanks be to Our Lord Jesus Christ who is rich in Mercy, and enjoying all the joys of friend and family. Tho I was not there with you guys eating and laughing with you, know that I am there in spirit. I can already imagine the sound of your voice , and the voices of Dr. Brydon, and Mr. Tirol and all your friends ; and the songs sung. Maka hinomdom ko ninyo tanan and ma lipay pod ko. Thanks for making me smile, Fr. Roel.

My sunday was good. I went to meet up with my sister and had lunch with her. Afterwards, went to Starbucks and ordered an iced coffee as I did some medical board reviews -- GASTROENTEROLOGY!

Busy Day... Day 2....prepare ug reports unsa pang kinahanglanon para Seminar- Workshop karong Oct 11 - 19...

Today we had a patient code on us. Bata pa intawn. We tried to resuscitate him, pero, wala. It is so sad to see young kids getting involved in car accidents. Patient sustained massive blood loss, despite every effort to resuscitate him and to replenish blood, the patient went into v-tach. We gave him 2 boluses of epi and performed acls procedures. 8 minutes we tried to bring him back, wa gehapon.

I assisted the attending physician in reporting the news to the parents, and family members. The patient's mother reacted in such a way that I almost cried.

I am so sad that we could not save her son. I am so sorry...

I dedicate a poem that I wrote during my shift this afternoon to that young man who passed:

There is something very deep and profound when one hears the attending physician intervene all efforts, despite one's reluctance, to cease all efforts.

As I stood back, and looked at my patient on the hospital bed, I saw the nurses, terminate the external defibrillator machine. I remember standing there, looking at him, with the IV line still inside, with all the tubes still there.

A sense of loss, a deep sense of loss. Having to write the time of death, recording it as some kind of permanence, the very moment of his death, the moment where he exited this world.

Having assisted the attending MD report the news to the patient's family was truly an experience. But what was quite surreal was after going back to the room where my patient lay, found him not. He had already been removed and sent to the morgue.

I sat in my office for a good 20 minutes thinking about the situation. How truly insignificant and delicate we are, as human beings. One moment one is alive, the next, one is pronounced dead and being prepared for funeral.

We truly are but mere dusts in time.

God our Father,
Your power brings us to birth,
Your providence guides our lives,
and by Your command we return to dust.

Lord, those who die still live in Your presence,
their lives change but do not end.
I pray in hope for my family,
relatives and friends,
and for all the dead known to You alone.

They are doing fine, they miss their mum badly though..Dalagita na jud ang kamaguangan..Their mum was my very best friend; she was the one who introduced me to this furom..TubagBohol..Since then we became gud friend.. I miss her, she's like my baby sister.

She was truly the heart and soul of TB. One word describes Virginia. Mommy-like. Very Mommy-like gajud to sija. I am sure , am confident, that she is in Heaven.

I think she was a friend to everyone here based on the stories I read about her. She was remembered as a very nice lady with a kind heart also.. May her children be blessed forever

It's my day off today, Jenneth. I'm so happy to be able to relax today after a long day of work yesterday. It's getting really cold here in Chicago, Jen, its 40 degrees Fahrenheit diri (4 degrees Celsius) !

Just woke up. It's Sunday! Nakapahuway at least kay gahapon gikan sa dakong pakals. I offered a thanksgiving Mass for a friend's son who just passed the recent board exam for mechanical engineers in Bulacao, Talisay. We did the Mass at the Hillside Subd chapel with the village community complete with music. Hapit nuon pod ko ma dehydrate hahaha.

I went on a date tonight. Fun times....!

Gi pair up ko niya kai her friend is a mutual friend of mine. She's a nice girl, honestly, pero i just want to see where it goes now. Kay di ta kahibalo asa ta placed sa residency. She is already settled here in Chicago...man gud.

She's a very good girl. Catholic upbringing, Italian, family oriented. Pero ang problema gusto sija kono mo "find the right man to marry soon". hahaha.

Kining puting baje, very peculiar ni sila. Once they hit a certain age, gusto na maminyo. 27 pa gani sija, gusto ma minyo by 30 kono.

I told her, "I'd like to be settled when I'm 30+"

Ingon sija nako, "Won't that be too old?"
