ESCALANTE CITY, NEGROS OCCIDENtal, Philippinesâ€"It seems not all the Yaps are in Noynoy’s court.

Early this week, Baby James Yap uttered “Villar” during a Sen. Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III rally, sparking talk that the toddler, who’s turning 3 years old this month, is “Sen. Manny Villar’s secret endorser.”

On Friday, the uncle of basketball star James Yap, Escalante Mayor Melencio Yap told reporters that he was sticking it out with Lakas-Kampi-CMD standard-bearer Gilbert “Gibo” Teodoro Jr. “win or lose ... with or without funds.”

Teodoro had flown here from San Carlos by helicopter for a mini-rally at the Central Elementary School, during his two-day campaign swing in Negros Occidental, which has about a million voters.

Mayor Yap and other local leaders joined Teodoro and the ruling coalition’s vice presidential bet Edu Manzano, as well as senatorial candidates including former broadcaster Rey Langit and lawyer Silvestre Bello III on stage to fire up the crowd of at least 2,000 people to support their candidacies.

According to Yap, his nephew James, husband of actress-TV host Kris Aquino, has not tried to talk him into switching support for Noynoy Aquino. - inquirer.net
