How to Produce Healthy Sperms
By Gen Wright
In the act of conception itself, both man and woman should be healthy to be able to successfully produce an offspring of their own. It is the male partner's responsibility to take care of himself to be able to produce healthy sperms.
With their current lifestyle and environmental factors, a lot of men have been having problems with their sperm count, motility, and volume. Before we discuss some tips on how to ensure healthy sperms, let us take a closer look on several factors that affect the sperm's overall health.
Sperm Count
It refers to the quantity of sperms produced per ejaculation. Normal values are around 50 million sperms per ejaculation. Values lower than the mentioned value are considered decreased male fertility. It is better to see a fertility specialist or doctor if you want to determine your sperm count.
Sperm Volume
Sperm volume is also important when one is to have a healthy sperm. Some causes of low sperm volume are obstruction and injury to the articles, medication side effects, and hormonal problems.
Sperm Motility and Morphology
Sperms are supposed to move fast. A man's sperms are considered healthy when half of the sperms ejaculated are active and if a quarter of them are moving rapidly in one direction. A normal and healthy sperm should have an oval head that will hold the genetic blueprint for the baby. It must have a tail that will propel it to move forward. Specialists consider sperms healthy if half of the ejaculated sperms have oval heads and propeller tails.
Here are some simple ways you can do to ensure healthy sperms:
Give up smoking and cut back on alcohol.
Cigarette smoking has been shown to damage the genetic blueprint or DNA in sperms. If this happens, it is possible that the offspring may have birth defects and problems. Smoking was also found out to reduce sperm motility, making it hard for the sperms to reach the egg and fertilize it.
Alcohol was also shown to affect male impotence. Eat well and watch your weight.
Zinc and folic acid supplements are recommended for men who are planning to sire a child. Make sure to eat plenty of fruits and vegetables and avoid too much sugar and caffeine. Weight problems can also affect sperm count, so it is advised for men to watch their weight closely.
Lead an active lifestyle.
A
sedentary lifestyle has been shown to contribute to male infertility. It is important to lead an active lifestyle like doing mild exercises three times a week. However, it is not advised to do extreme cycling as prolonged periods with biking may be linked to sperm problems and issues.
Maintain a sperm-friendly temperature.
Sperms are designed to be stored to a temperature cooler than the rest of your body. Minimize visits to
hot saunas and long hot baths.
Avoid wearing synthetic and tight-fitting pants as well.
Always be safe.
STDs can also affect sperm count and motility, so when engaging in sexual intercourse, always have condoms handy and get tested for STDs regularly.
