bwahahaha!

dungog kaajo diri imong bahakhak Chic! hahaha!

Katawa na lang ta ani MDB kay samtang ang uban malipayon uban sa ilang mahal sa kinabuhi, ako tawon deri 5 ka itoy ra kauban ug sige dokdok sa TB hahaha. Last night sa akong talk didto sa SMM, I told them sa gamay pako I wanted to be like my dad, gwapag asawa (siempre si mama na god na no?) ug 10 ka anak. After the testi, nihunghong tong usa ka parishioner nga ni attend, "We love you, Father... God heard you and He gave you your dog and 8 puppies." Bwahaha, bakyaa oy! Karon kay 5 na lang nahabilin ka na dispatsa na ang 3. Hehehe

I have 4 in my staff, 3 ang babaye... hmmmm, di lalim working with women on a daily basis. They're competing against each other... mao daw na ingon pod sa ubang mga babaye. Tinuod na Miss? And to make matters worse (?) or kung pina Enzo pa - lami nga view, most of those who volunteer to work sa church are mostly women? Did you notice that maski sa atoa?

So... dili jud ikatingala nor is it shocking to hear stories nga daghan jud pari nga mosipyat and some of them giving up the only life they know. My family is always worried even after 25 years nga one day basin mobiya sad ko sa katungdanan. And my naughty response to them is: it's been 25 long years ug taas na ang lubi... morag late na igawas and start a family.

Bwahahaha!!!! Just having fun!!! Basin kasab-an ko ani ni Brad Enzo, our TB Catholic Defender!!!!

Dia man diay ning thread lami basahon, way nakahatag nakog notisya bahin ani maong nalipat bwahaha. Since the title of the thread includes "Roman" (meaning, Latin Rite), the current status on the issue of celibacy is: No, dili pwede ang Romano Katoliko nga pari magminyo. It's Church law, man-made law which I think started around the middle centuries. Kay sa miaging mga katuigan priests were not celibate. But as far as other Catholic religions are concerned (e.g. Greek Orthodox and other rites) they give their priests option to get married before ordination. But those who get married have no chance of being elevated to the rank of Bishops. For those who chose to stay as celibate, once ordained, dili napod pwede mag minyo.

Celibacy issue is human precept, not natural law. So, pwede gehapon ibalik sa dating practice... but not likely in our lifetime hehehe.

Re: Gwarg's quotation about celibacy as a command of Christ, nope, there's no such verse where Christ ordered celibacy for his priests (he only talk about it as a gift/charism for some, but not for all)... although most of His disciples left homes and families in order to follow Jesus and were sent as Apostles to bring the good news to all corners of earth.

But as of the present, Canon Laws prohibits priests from getting married... automatic ang penalty which is the suspension of his priestly function. So kung magminyo ang pari, way mahimo ang simbahan, and yet priests stay as priests according to the line of Melchiades, aw, Melchisedech d i, dili na lang maka function as one except in case of real emergency... when all rules collapse!

see? it is only because of the present law, he can't. the question bears some nuance, because it asks beginning with "should"...why should it be allowed? it begs to see beyond the present status of Roman Catholic Law on Priesthood. Why happens if they be allowed? Would we have a more dynamic church than it is now? Would there be a collapse of his ministry if he has a loving wife, and yes, beautiful? Would it help to encourage more vocations and understanding about one's calling to serve in the context of family, community and love? again, there's a plethora of Yes and No answers depending on what our chrisitian upbringing is and openness to this issue.

as for me, i appreciate a good priest, and would be more, if he is a good family man too.  ;D

Great explanation, Father.

The very same words that my spiritual director and good personal friend, Fr. Mark Hoffman, reiterated to us in our many Catholic Male Collegiate Retreats at the Diocese of Erie, Pennsylvania.

In the words of His Eminence, Bishop Donald Trautman, the Bishop of the Diocese of Erie, "The ministry of priesthood rises above the toils of marriage life, for the ministry of the royal priesthood concerns itself with the Word of God unto the people. God is Boss. The Priest is the employee. By rite, the priest is married. He is married to Christ Jesus. Body and Soul."

:)

Then after the relationship gets older, ang sangpotan ra daw, "buwag, buwag, buwag." Of kors, kabuang ra tong iya sa akong cuzin but hard realities tell us nga daghan jud hinoon nga ingon ani gipangdangatan. It's sad but it's true.

Ad lib ra baya ni... not to be taken seriously, hehehe  ;D

For me lang, i think it is simply disgusting when people even think about having relations with priests.
For me lang, ma luod ko when I hear or read something to that extent. Disgusting.

A priest is a man of God. Blessed with holy oils, and entrenched in the rite of priesthood.
The man has prostrated himself before the Holy Tabernacle, and has been touched by the Laying of Hands, an ancient tradition that stems back to the Apostolic Tradition.

The sin of adultery is a serious sin. It is a Mortal Sin, that is punishable with eternal damnation, unless appropriate penitance is made, as my priest has told me. What is far more detestable are women who elope with priests.

Beware, firsts out there, seminarians, of women who lure you to sin, to lay bed with them.
For that is temptation of most grieviousness.

-----

A man of the cloth (brother, priest, etc) is untouchable.
For they belong to none but GOD himself.

It is simply disgusting to hear about the notion of priests and marriage.
They, the priests, have already made it their priority to give up all sensual tastes that is in married life, and non-religious life, for the sake of priesthood.

It is evident that they made that decision. That ultimate decision. God Bless them.

IN Christ,
Lorenzo

I, a man who was called to the priesthood, but in my own sin and my own personal iniquities (to which God alone knows and judges) has made it impossible for me to join the priesthood. I love my God and Redeemer, but am weak in the sense. Romans 3:23 declares it.

Instead of asking why can't men like myself who Love my God and love to preach the Good news, and still be priests and get married, I and other men who have been given the call of discernment realize the BEAUTY of that calling--the priesthood. We realize that we are not meant to be priests, because it does take alot to be a priest. It is very hard, spiritually, and physically.
Pray for our priests. Pray for them when they are lonely. Pray for them when they are tempted, pray for them when they are attacked, pray for them when they sin. Pray for them to continue to speak the BLESSED WORD, to which GOD HIMSELF called them by name.... :)

It takes alot of strength to truly answer the priesthood.
That is why I respect seminarians, priests, brothers, sisters, mothers.
For it takes alot to make that choice and decision.

Many are called,
but few can answer the call.
:)

GOD BLESS OUR PRIESTS.

Fr, your posts are so filled with glee and passive discourse--which is delectably pleasing when I read it. Yours is a soul of warmth and in colloquial diction, "finding da goods of da situation, broda-man!" he he he he.

What I would do to attend one of your masses, if only logistics wasn't such a constraint.

A brother in Christ,

You're a good man, Enz and a good defender of the Catholic faith! I salute you for that. Dogma-wise (doctrines ba) most of the church's teaching tinuod is immutable (permanent, cannot be changed) because they're based on natural law. Pero duna say mga gitawag ug human precepts (man made/enacted laws) that could change in time or with leadership or because of updated developments (di jud nuon ni madali-dali). I just hope you know how to distinguish between the two of them because they are a world apart as well as they're implications! Remember the words of Jesus on these (but I don't want to get into details): "Laws are made for man, not man made for the law." And on another ocassion he said (woe-ing the experts of the law?): "You forced people to follow the traditions of your elders as well as the laws... but you yourselves don't even lift a fingers to help these little ones?" (Paraphrased na lang kay hingkalimtanon nako)

Bwahahaha! Bugoy-bugoy jud nuon ko pero wa koy followers oist, delikado na, basin matintal tag gama og cult, ahihihi. On the contrary, I made it a point (ever since) nga akoy mo follow sa mga bugoy... kay sa tinuod mas daghan kog makat-onan sa mga bogoy... and they help me put flesh and blood to what I strive to become (or learned in school): pastoral, compassionate, forgiving, non-judgmental, understanding, a good listener, appeciative of good things, etc etc etc... and keep you down-to-earth (well-grounded) and fun-loving too. If there's such a saying, really, "I find God in the most unexpected places!!! With these people!!!" Hehehehe

Addendum: And the more I know these people, I guess the more I know God... and the more I know God, the more I know myself... that I am not God, and far from being perfect (LoL). Makasasa man diay pod ko.... sama sad nila (nga gitawag natog mga bugoy).

Remember the words of Jesus on these (but I don't want to get into details): "Laws are made for man, not man made for the law."

Bitaw personally - honest jud ni gyod - I prefer priests be celibate, not because I'm against marriage, but I think they're better off living a single life para mas available sila sa kadaghanan. Kamong mga dunay uyab o pamilya, you know well the challenges of relationship and married life. Di lalim oy! Of course, mine is only an observation/analysis from the outside (naks!); kamo jud kay 1st hand experience. But I know too well nga lisud sagolon ning duha deri sa field of priesthood. Saludar jud ko ninyo mga minyo ug kadtong mga relationship nga nilungtad. Sus no, iapil pa natog ihap ani ang pagpangitag panginabuhi para sa pamilya og pagpa eskwela sa mga bata ngadto nas college. How do you do it? Unya wa pay labot ani ang differences of personalities nga mag-uban sa panimalay and many other challenges/trials along the way. Every move and decision you make, apil man jud tanan. While as a single priest, you're free from most of them and you decisions, usually, are yours alone. Mingaw lang jud nuon ang kinabuhing olitawo kay tawo raman ta, pero di man sad maihap ang blessings ug kalipay that comes with being single... thrilling baja pod - many ups and down - pero ingon ani man jud ni maski unsa pang walk of life imo gilakat. In short, staying single, mas free-er ka to do more and expand yourself than being stuck in a relationship or marriage. Di na mananghid ni Misis! ;D

Father, your words are too much to describe me, in all reality, am but a simple servant of the Lord Jesus Christ who is ever-present in the Blessed Eucharist. :)

We must be the defenders of faith, to uphold the laws and the affirmations of the Holy One Roman Catholic Church. The Holy Mother The Church is Infallable. For it was said by The Lord Jesus Christ, "Even the gates of hell cannot overcome her (referring to the Church, in which was placed on Simon Peter (Cephas/ 'The Rock')."

The Church, In One, which is the Body of Christ in Earth, can do no wrong. Certain members of the church, which fall into sway to sin and temptations and the corruption of power, but the Church is remained pure and innocent, perfected in the Body and Blood of Christ Jesus--the RISEN LORD. :)

The Holy Priests are Christ-Like.
So just as Jesus Christ the Lord God Made Flesh,
The Eternal Word On High,
EMANUEL "GOD AMONG US",
never married, nor had he lay in bed with a woman,
so, too, shall a priest of Christ, who breaks the bread/body of the Lord, remain unmarried.

-----

The LORD Jesus Christ was the 'fisher of men',
he called His apostles from amongst the Jordan, and the sea in Gallilee,
they were all professionals in their lives,
Peter--being fisherman and married,James--a fisherman, John--a fisherman, Matthew--a tax collector, Paul--a pharisee, etc, --

As you can see, all the apostles had a living before they were called by the Lord Jesus Christ.
And when they were called, they all left everything that the owned, and had. Their wives, children, professions, worldly passions. In return, became the followers of the SON OF MAN. :)
The WORD MADE FLESH.

----

The Apostles are perfect examples.
then again, hence we have the APOSTOLIC TRADITION.
The Holy One Apostolic Roman Catholic Church.

God Bless!

No servant can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.

14And the Pharisees also, who were covetous, heard all these things: and they derided him.

15And he said unto them, Ye are they which justify yourselves before men; but God knoweth your hearts: for that which is highly esteemed among men is abomination in the sight of God.

16The law and the prophets were until John: since that time the kingdom of God is preached, and every man presseth into it.

17And it is easier for heaven and earth to pass, than one tittle of the law to fail.

-----

I have one question Enz... minyo ba tong mga apostoles? Of course the answer is a big YES, except for John. Unya, just because they left everything and their families, wa na magpasabot nga ge-erase/ge-annul sa Ginoo ang ilang kaminyoon. Maybe we can look at it as if the disciples were making that great big sacrifice in leaving their families and join Christ's group to do missions to the known world... wa man to sila mo apply og divorce tawon o e annul ilang kaminyoon. So, there you are, the Holy Apostles were all married people and they were even the first bishops of the Church. Mao sad tong early times sa Church, mga minyo sad tong mga kaparian ug mga ka obispohan. Only later on nga ge introduced ang celibacy sa balaod sa simbahan. Dugay pod to silang lalis atong panahona sa Batasang Pambansa hehehe, basin nakaingon pod tag overnight decision ra pod to. Those were real issues in real time. So, Enz, I don't think you can bank on Apostolic Tradition as basis on celibacy issues because it never were.

Of course, we are called to uphold the laws of the Church... and I don't disagree on that. That particular law was in placed even before I became a priest, so I had my choice... and I chose freely and willingly to travel that road.

Road less traveled man daw kini, so at the start of the journey wa pod mi kahibaw o ma suheto unsa nga klase nga karsada kini... aspalto ba ni o concrete, lapok ba o daghang libaong, tul-id ba o likoon. After 25 years, medyo na suheto-suheto napod. But I can't tell you how many times nanga-dam-ag ang mga niagi ani. Like in some Biblical stories of old, there were stories, too, about travelers being ambushed along the way. Dihay uban nakakita apan wala motabang; apan dinha say mga Good Samaritans who extended themselves to lend a helping hand... which makes the journey a little worthwhile maski lisod.

So pray for your priests as they pray for all people too. Naay panahon nga silay madam-ag, naa poy panahon nga kita. Kristiyanismo man kaha atong gesunod nga dalan, aw, maningkamot god pod ta nga Kristiyano pod atong binuhatan og pamuyo.

you did a very good job, pads. i can see your devotion in your ministry. thank you for that. your experience speaks volume of reasons why priests of the RC must stay single. a very valuable lesson much deeper than quotations from other sources. one can't beat experience on this matter.

not to argue your honest thought of the matter, let me also share this story of an Anglican Priest. as you know, Anglicans do not have a lot of differences from Catholics. He of course is married. Has wife, who is working, and two kids, who are in their teens. He admits the challenges of married life coupled with ministerial demands of his office. But there are just as much challenges in one who is married in the priesthood as one who's not. He says there's more freedom in being single, just as there's more in being married. He meant that his wife has completely understood right in the beginning of their union, what his job entails and hers, too, to their works and to their family. The balancing of hours between each other and between their children has never been a cause of strain.

It is engaging when you work in a community, and you have a family, he said. you become more aware of your  family duties and witnessing of the gospel. all in one.

Sometimes, it is more advantageous when you need intense conversation about church, fundraisers, plans and other concerns, the wife is the first to hear and you are sure, she is not going to judge you for anything. the family is however his priority. but it is also his source of inspiration to be faithful to his ministry. their children, even in their tender age, have also done their part. they enjoy what other kids have. but with a twist. they have a duty not only in their home but in their "bigger home" --church, as well. it is not that his life has no problems. he does like everybody else. but his consolation is that he's been blessed with beautiful family, and good parishioners.

i like you, pads. your honesty reminds me of this friend. like him, you serve the same God and same mission. maybe, with a twist. di ka mananghid ni Misis; siya, tugutan ni Misis, sa way pagpangutana.  ;D
