What a warning shot to all of us guys! But each word from Dalai Lama means something for all of humanity to evolve ourselves to higher dimensions of living and to fully understand the meaning of life we often grope to live.  Life amidst of all the troubles and hardships is not worth living so to say. But man, we have to fully understand the purpose why we live often in a messy life and why we hopelessly dream that someday happiness will come along the way like a rainbow. Can we live satisfied with all the happiness we have on earth? I grossly say no, because satisfaction is an indolent attitude that rottens our ambitions to live a happy life. Then, comes sadness amidst all the happiness man has. Man, we will never ever know what else that be to make us totally contented and fulfilled.

Life is like an electric power flowing along every closed circuits in a network. No matter how you turn on the switch if one circuit is disconnected energy is not generated. Like electricity life has to establish a strong connection with one's Creator for it to be energized and eventually provides the light so that others may walk along a brighter path. This poses a greater challenge in everyone of us to kindle our candles and brighten the path so others may live a happy life.

Life is always governed by the function of time like the non-living things. Oftentimes we want to defy time for many unreasonable reasons. Beating time is like beating red light in traffic that makes us worry about submissions of unfinished works or works undone. Often, we act like grounded electric connections harming others as well us ourselves. At times like this, we need to call an Electrician to fix the trouble and provide a lifeline to save us from harm and further damage.

I really like your comparison of human tendency to harm one another, as you put it, "like grounded electric connections".
This is an example of figurative language mixing with physics/ electrical engineering. Am I wrong to assume that you are a Professional Engineer, A Layman?

Mao ba? Maswerte ka sa imong amahan Doc! Pero as I guess mas swerte sya to have you as his child. Civil Engineers are destined to build roads and bridges for human communications to flow smoothly, erect buildings where humans are provided with oportunities to work efficiently and provide a decent living for their families, and houses to provide them shelter. Pero mas superb ang missions ng mga doctors like you.

A Layman,

Civil Engineering is indeed a noble profession. An ancient one, which attests to the growth of human civilizations through the ages; from bronze age, to iron age, to classic age, to enlightenment, to modern. I find great similarity between Civil Engineering and Medicine. Both professions are specialized and tasked in the maintenance of pathways and the prevention of accumulation of 'traffic'. So that there is easy flow throughout the nation/body. The only remarkable difference is that medicine deals with the human body (maintenance of microscopic aspects of the body that affects the organ/ organismal level); whereas in engineering deals with the national body (or provincial/state body)  and is responsible for the maintenance of roads, bridges, docks etc. So I would say that Civil Engineering and Medicine is at par with each other. One is responsible for the maintenance of civilization, the other is tasked with the maintenance of the human person that lives within said civilization.

On another point, it is I who is lucky to have a father like my dad. Without whom and without whose guidance, I would be nothing. :)

One contrasting aspect between a doctor and a civil engineer is the way how the quality of services are guaranteed. The work or project done by a civil engineer is guaranteed for fifteen years before his liabilities expire. Contrarily, a doctor waives his liability even before he starts his work! LOL

I might miss some points! But Enstein is true to his words as a scientist or as an innovator. Happiness as I understand what he meant is a destructive state of mind that renders the mind inutile in developing creative ideas.

Hmm, I guess one would normally prefer to be happy rather than be creative, unless one is not creative enough to find ways to be happy.

it looked like the great genius didn't mind being happy either...

Personally, I experience the greatest degree of pleasure in having contact with works of art. They furnish me with happy feelings of an intensity that I cannot derive from other sources. (Albert Einstein, quoted by Moszkowski in "Conversations with Einstein")

wow!  it's a great read, hubag.  thanks for the lead.  it's been a while since i came across something this good.  among many striking points, here's one i took to heart:

If this myth is tragic, that is because its hero is conscious.  Where would his torture be, indeed, if at every step the hope of succeeding upheld him?  The workman of today works everyday in his life at the same tasks, and his fate is no less absurd.  But it is tragic only at the rare moments when it becomes conscious.  Sisyphus, proletarian of the gods, powerless and rebellious, knows the whole extent of his wretched condition: it is what he thinks of during his descent.  The lucidity that was to constitute his torture at the same time crowns his victory.  There is no fate that can not be surmounted by scorn.

                                                                                - Albert Camus, The Myth of Sisyphus
