Mao ba? Maswerte ka sa imong amahan Doc! Pero as I guess mas swerte sya to have you as his child. Civil Engineers are destined to build roads and bridges for human communications to flow smoothly, erect buildings where humans are provided with oportunities to work efficiently and provide a decent living for their families, and houses to provide them shelter. Pero mas superb ang missions ng mga doctors like you.
A Layman,
Civil Engineering is indeed a noble profession. An ancient one, which attests to the growth of human civilizations through the ages; from bronze age, to iron age, to classic age, to enlightenment, to modern. I find great similarity between Civil Engineering and Medicine. Both professions are specialized and tasked in the maintenance of pathways and the prevention of accumulation of 'traffic'. So that there is easy flow throughout the nation/body. The only remarkable difference is that medicine deals with the human body (maintenance of microscopic aspects of the body that affects the organ/ organismal level); whereas in engineering deals with the national body (or provincial/state body) and is responsible for the maintenance of roads, bridges, docks etc. So I would say that Civil Engineering and Medicine is at par with each other. One is responsible for the maintenance of civilization, the other is tasked with the maintenance of the human person that lives within said civilization.
On another point, it is I who is lucky to have a father like my dad. Without whom and without whose guidance, I would be nothing.
