Dengue has already claimed five lives in the province as more fell ill to the deadly virus.
Provincial Health Officer Dr. Reymoses Cabagnot confirmed in an interview with the Chronicle that dengue cases continue to rise with the latest fatality from the town of Talibon.
Tagbilaran City topped in the number of reported cases with over 70 victims based on population density in the city.
Hospitals in the city continue to get admittances, which is expected to increase, according to Cabagnot, with the onset of the rainy season.
Cabagnot said fever is one of the early common symptoms of dengue and children should be brought to hospitals or rural health units to be checked at once.
He said late response to cases could be fatal since it would be very difficult to treat patients in the late stages of dengue.
The health official reminded the public to dispose stagnant water such as those found in flower vases, dish drains, old tires, and roof gutters.
He called on local government units to help in the information campaign against the deadly virus to eliminate breeding sites of dengue-bearing mosquitoes.
Other towns reporting dengue cases were Calape, 15 cases, Carmen, 10, Balilihan and Catigbian, 8, Talibon, 7, Cortes, 6 and Panglao, 5. - the Bohol Chronicle
