i'm curious about two things here; the title (naturally) and the word self-responsibility.
i wish i could get hold of this book so i'll know what the author really means by the title because it's possible that it's just a figure of speech, in the league of 'splendor in the grass' or 'go ahead, make my day'. what if the whole book after all is only trying to convey the author's possible conclusion that 'everybody marries the wrong person for as long as one allows himself to be wrong?'
which brings us to 'self-responsibility'. (what? another compound word?) well, we're supposed to be responsible for our own happiness. we can choose to be happy or not. we can choose to be right or wrong. as of now, though, i haven't made a choice between what is right or wrong with the following statement (which dr. meinecke may have missed in her book despite her work with adults, couples and adolescents):
