By David S. MaulasThe Central Student Government (CSG) of Holy Name University breaks new grounds by staging the country’s premier balladeer, Christian Bautista, in a concert performance at Janssen Heights Campus Oval on Wednesday, Sept. 12, at 8 p.m., in time for its intramurals.
Christian Bautista will be joined by local hands as front acts in the event dubbed “A Night of Rock ‘n Ballad.†This is the singing icon’s debut performance in the city.
The next day highlights Intrams Disco at the HNU high school gym also sponsored by the CSG.
The much-awaited interdepart-ment cheerdance competition is on Sept. 14 at Janssen Heights Campus Oval with an expected jam-packed crowd. On its 3rd edition, this event promises still to be the university’s most colorful and exciting spectacle.
These three nightly events are co-presented by Pepsi Cola, City Sangguniang Kabataan Federation, David Salon, Dragon Fireworks and Dunkin’ Donuts, Superferry, Bohol Quality Mall and Nature’s Spring.
The core Intramural Games slated from September 11-14 are basketball, volleyball, baseball, softball, chess, lawn tennis, table tennis, track and field, badminton, sepak takraw, taekwondo, and swimming.
In an attempt to preserve Filipino traditional games, siato is the newest addition to the games. According to Marianito Luspo, the activity organizer, siato is “only a pilot edition of what is going to be an institutionalized heritage games in the succeeding year.â€
At the helm of all preparation for the Intramurals is Fr. Felino B. Javines, the vice-president for administration assisted by Nemesia Guirigay, athletics coordinator.
