By the way, Board Member Piollo is complaining why the TBTK medical missions relied more on the local doctors, dentists and even nurses and midwives. I have a friend from western Bohol who told me all three doctors in her town plus two from the district hospital and many local health care staff were directed by the mayor to join the medical mission upon request of a balikbayan doctor. Tabla ra ni og nag distribute ra'g medicines ang mga balikbayan doctors. Outside TBTK man gud, we have quite a number of medical missions in Bohol throughout the year. Ask Fancy Baluyut and she will agree because her office facilitates a year-round medical mission program. Sa sunod TBTK, kana na pong lain, like what they did sa northwestern towns nga nag distribute sila'g kabaw sa mga kabus nga mag-uuma.

This is in reply to the long thread about miss bohol international winner 2006 farewell speech. First I would like to congratulate Miss Loida for having the courage to tell the truth about her "reign that never was".

According to a VRS right after the pageant the organizer disappeared leaving the newly crown beauty queen facing a blank wall not knowing what to do. She wasn't briefted on what will be her role as the newly crown Miss Bohol International, wasn't presented activities that would serve her purpose as a beaty queen.

I sympathized with here when she said "I didn't receive a treatment anybody would expect to be given to a beauty queen".

In my opinion the prize of a round trip ticket to the US was just a small part of Loida's frustation, the real issue to me was the way the TBTK organizer specifically miss bohol international organization treated her as a beauty queen.

To those who doesn't know loida prior to joining the miss bohol international, she was the reigning miss UB personality, which gave the opportunity to represent her Alma Mater to the miss bohol international. During her reign she was visible in all her alma mater activities in news prints and radio guestings, but never during her reign as miss bohol international. Maayo pa man ang beauty queen sa barangay kay ipaso just to show how the barangay is proud of their queen.

From all the posts here, it would appear that indeed she was treated shabbily. Maajo unta kon makadungog pud ta sa side sa organizers.

And if no rejoinder is forthcoming, should we on the sidelines (bending over our laptops) put the issue to rest and assume that the organizers are to blame?

(On the other hand, maybe they are just blissfully unaware of the existence of Tubag Bohol....)

At least one of their members made a rejoinder to my topic on the amazing sales results of the trade fair. And being part of the TBTK medical mission, HC, I presume, is also a member of the TBTK.

So perhaps we can request them to convey the concerns and the issues raised here to the TBTK officialdom in order to put an end to all the speculations and barbed exchanges.

I believe that this is part of the growth pains of an organization which, I suppose, is voluntary in nature but on whom the expectations have risen inordinately. I think the concerns (including those raised by Loida), when taken as inputs for improvement, will make TBTK a more professional organization that will help thrust Bohol into greater global renown.

Repeat, experience, dili kwarta, kay nagpabilin man gihapon kong kabus. I will be quit Frank there has been non stop controversy regarding the whole TBTK in how how everything is handled.

Both radio stations DYRD and DYTR have made it the juice of the week.

Some one even went as far as texting to the radio anchorman that SP should not fund any part of the TBTK but in ways it does especailly for medical missions.

I was so impressed with the groups expenditure on the Dr, that they had flown in here and bedded here at Bohol Tropics for something around 250.000 pesos.

If i was him kn owing it is charity I would not stay at the post poshest resorts I would stay at pension house it is okay for me.

I heard from one of the local doctors from the mission it was not lami.

Samoke maybe better planning and not last minute planning making for a better time next time around.

Veloso sister side,

In an exclusive phone interview Friday, Pureza Chatto denied accusations and simply laughed off the circulated reports that she used the prize ticket for herself.

"That is impossible since the ticket, courtesy of the Philippines Airlines, is a non-revenue ticket for sponsorship and is non-transferabl, "Pureza told the Standard.
"This can also be checked or verified from any office of PAL here or in Manila" she added.
"The period to claim actually expired and TBTK organizers should not be faulted on it. I even gave Miss Lagonoy P5000,00 aside from the P50,000 prize money to cover the expenses for her to claim her ticket with PAL," the solon's wife said.

On the night before she flew back to the U.S. Betty Veloso Garcia, chairperson of the TBTK 2009 gathering, told the Standard she intends to give the prize of a round trip US ticket to Miss Lagonoy, even at this time that her reign has already ended.

The Standard also got from a another highly reliable source that the guarantee was made by the Veloso sisters in a meeting with the Lagonoy family together with their lawyer, three days before the coronation night of the TBTK Miss Bohol international 2009.

Betty Garcia flew out of the country last Thursday, July 30 saying pageant committee chair Mariquit Oppus will answer all queries regarding the TBTK issue.

I sympathize with Loida. Hers, however, is not a first case in regard to TBTK. In 2003, usa ka lungsod ang migasto'g daku for the float of its contestant sa Miss Bohol International. Imagine, bisa'g klaro kaayo ang ngalan sa lungsod, gisakyan og laing kandidata. Tungod kay gikan pa kuno sila sa abroad, dapat kuno nga sila ang priority. Imagine, wa gyud monaog ang ilang kandidata. Ang chaperon sa maong kandidata nagsigi og yawyaw, ang tag-iya sa float maoy gikasab-an. Kaluoy sa kandidata sa lungsod, gipasakay na lang nila sa laing topdown jeep nga walay decoration. Ang resulta, ang kandidata sa maong lungsod hapit gyud modaug. Ang nangilog sa float nangiwit. Gaba.

Bibo baya pud ang Tagbilaran panahon sa TBTK, pero daghan ang mahasul. Kami diri ang mahu'g nga sulugoon just to make the short visit of these balikbayans memorable for them. As usual, naay medical mission, distribution of books and whatever, etc. Pero balik-balik man lang ni. Mas maayo unta nga mo invest ang uban diri especially sa tourism industry. Kulang ta og investments which translate to employment for a good number of Boholanos. Kon ang TBTK mo resulta og local investment and employment, mas maayo, mas may kahulugan ang pagpasiugda niini.

Kon mosulod ta'g politika, gawas nga mogasto gyud ta, ato pung mailhan kon kinsa ang atong mga kaaway (hinunua, wala kita mangaway nila), ug kini sila mag-isip na nga kita ilang kaaway hangtud sa hangtud. Mas maayo pa ning mangulo ta og kapunungan nga walay pamulitika sama sa akong na organize nga church choir (didto sa Leyte nga buhi pa hangtud karon after more than 30 years), organization of KB alumni, alma mater alumni, ug uban pa. Mosuporta lang ko og politiko basta alang sa kaayohan sa kadaghanan.

Maayo pa ana noh? undanongon na nila ilang TBTK kay basa (as in wet) na kaayo ilang gibuhat.

Kana gud mga organization ing ana pasikat raman na sa mga miembro, honest! (take it from me, if you guys want to scorn me i dont care, basta tinuod jud ni). Mao nga wa jud kuy giapilan nga mga organizations. If i want to help i do it myself and i dont care if no one would acknowledge it.

Darn it daghan na noon tag mabaw-an aning mga grupo2x!

true sister gyod ka, ms da binsi. this post of yours was almost 3 years ago, but still it's as relevant today as it was then. pareha tag sakit; di joiners unya hingok nga motabang. mas fulfilling, di ba? no organization to cling to and 'legitimize' what we are, no press releases needed.

(sorry folks, if this sounds hambog, but this is one more reason why i chose to be anonymous here. i assure you though that i am a human being.)
